I had my doubts because of the location/outside of the restaurant. Although, this place was absolutely delicious!! The Peking duck is a must have!! The inside has a nice ambiance and is quite pretty. They have a full bar and all the food was seasoned well. Will definitely be back!
This place is phenomenal! Sooo glad we decided to eat here. We decided on the dim sum platter, the lobster preset menu and a whole crab on the side. We were blown away by the freshness and quality of every dish. The dim sum were so flavorful along with their dipping sauce. All made in house. Seafood is definitely what you want to get when you come here. We tried the ginger scallion preparation for our lobster, it was out of this world! We also got the whole Dungeness crab. Cooked fresh, soooo delicious! Super hospitality! Excellent experience for a special occasion and worth every penny. Definitely recommend! Mr. Allen was kind enough to show the King Crab for the next table.
My nephew and i were driving to another restaurant for lunch and saw this restaurant, did a quick google search found it to be interesting and decided to have lunch here. We were warmly greeted. The ambiance was relaxing and the place was clean. We tried the duck wings it was flavorful but I didn't care much for it. Allen explained the dishes to us, I settled for malah chicken and my nephew did noodle with beef bbowl. We tried the boboa cheesecake, it's very sweet. The meal was delicious very flavorful and authentic. There was ample parking and the price point was reasonable. I recommend.
This is the chicken with curry, what I left behind! Haha, perfect balance of spicy, flavor and quantity for a big guy like me. Very satisfying!
We heard of this new restaurant from our friends. We were in the area and decided to try it. The atmosphere was awesome. They are an Asian Seafoods Cuisine Restaurant. The quality of food was excellent. The service was super friendly and helpful. We even had their Banana Candy dessert. You must try it. Yummy 😋 It was an amazing experience, and we will definitely go back again. We are definitely recommending others. We gave them 10 of 10. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is my favorite restaurant in all of South Florida. I am a lover of all things, Asian, and seafood. This place mixes both of these concepts flawlessly. There are three must haves on the menu. The Dungeness crab in curry, if you like it spicy, they have other sauces that are equally amazing. The main lobster and garlic sauce practically made me cry. The crispy duck is just hands-down one of the best ducks I’ve ever had. I’m from Chicago where we have amazing food in Chinatown and all over. This place takes the cake. It’s not for the faint of heart, if you’re not used to getting a little dirty while eating, this may not be your cup of tea. They supply you with plastic gloves, plastic bibs, and hand wipes. The decor is unpretentious and Asian inspired. They’ve got Asian beers and a nice sake list. The service is great, the owner will often greet you at the door or make sure you had a good meal at the end. You can see the live crabs and lobster and the tanks and even select one yourself. It’s not a cheap meal, but it is downright amazing what they do. I cannot speak highly enough about this place. If you haven’t tried it, drop everything and go now.
2nd time coming to this restaurant, this time on a Sunday afternoon... And have to agree with the other positive reviews... The food is above par, and the prices reflect the quality of the ingredients. All the fish served are wild, not farm-raised, as proudly professed by the owner, who personally selects each fish.... No msg is used, and the focus is on all natural ingredients. We ordered a variety of dishes. The peking duck was excellent, as well as the fried basil rice and crispy fried noodles with filet of grouper fish and veggies; the pan-fried dumplings also stood out. The Xiao long bao was the least tasty, but the soup inside was good... The hand-rolled skin was just a bit too thick and chewy. The other dishes more than made up for it though. A prime location and the best ingredients are the major factors for the higher pricing, but the food here stands above all of the other Chinese restaurants we've tried in the area, including as far away as Margate, Lauderhill, and Parkland. The owner obviously takes great pride in his work and it shows. They also have more cushions and pillows now, if the wood chairs and benches are too hard. We will be back.
I used to live in Singapore. One of the signature dishes in Singapore is the name sake Chili Crabs. It is my favorite dish I have ever had anywhere. So I of course had to try it here. It was very very good. As you can see from the picture, it is very messy to eat. They give you some gloves, but imo they just do not work. My daughter just could not handle the mess of eating them. LOL. I did not even see chili crabs on the menu, but make sure you ask for them. You won't be disappointed. We also had the Pepper Crabs and Duck. Which is a LOT of food (we have two teenagers and we still took home some left overs). The Black Pepper Crab was also good. NOT as good as the Chili Crab, but still very tasty. The duck was also outstanding. I was so enamored with the food, I almost forgot to mention the atmosphere and service. It is very quaint and a fun place. Plus, they constantly checked up on you if you needed anything. The only negative I have, is that it was not cheap. I will say, you get what you pay for. Overall, my summary is that it is very authentic and reminded me of my time in Singapore. We will be back, however probably only ordering the chili crabs and duck.
We visited for the first time and were quite impressed with the quality and presentation of dishes. It was quite authentic Asian place. Considering we were a big group of 16, they accommodated us comfortably. Chef and servers were very friendly and obliged to all our discuss requests regarding dietary restrictions. Great ambience
Really enjoyed this Hong Kong cuisine. The dim sum are homemade and delicious, especially Shrimp Siu Mai. The crab with ginger scallion was fresh out of the tank and amazing. They bring it to the table first and is priced per pound. The ginger scallion sauce is so delicious I kept dipping the vegetables in it. The duck was also good with homemade pancakes. The only recommendation is to not bring out the crab and duck at the same time. The crab takes awhile to eat and the duck loses its optimum temperature. Be prepared to get messy. It’s the only way to devour the crab properly. Also try the gai lan vegetable, it’s delightful. Definitely will be back.
Wow!!! This place was amazing. We sat at the bar first and had some really unique drinks, The Great Wall and Dancing Dragon. The owner was very friendly and attentive. I didn't get a lot of picture of the food because it was devoured so fast bit every thing was so good and presented beautifully. The only item that didn't impress me was the calamari. We had dungeness crab with garlic chili and it was amazing. They presentrd the crab live so that you could approve the size then when they brought it out on the platter it was a show stopper. The pecking duck was exquisite from prese tation to taste, couldn't get enough of it. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their dishes.
Loved everything about this place ! Rather than try to remember all the dishes names I’ll add the pics. Forgot to take pics of the 2 types of dumplings. Everything was amazing and I don’t say this lightly. We had very personalized and attentive service .Cant wait to back .
Absolutely the best peking duck ever! And the rest of meal delicious too. Who woulda thought better stuff here then back home In NY Chinatown? Worth coming here from anywhere in the vicinity of Boca!!!!
By far the best Chinese in Florida! Our server “D” was absolutely amazing and made our experience perfect. We have been to China many times and their Peeking Duck was as good as it is in China. A must go!!
Chili Crab restaurant - Boca Raton Florida. Amazing food, great service! In my opinion Boca is lacking good, worth while restaurants that are worth what they charge. 💸 💸💸 And then there is The Chili Crab restaurant! I held back going here for a long time but now that I've been there I will go back for sure, this place is worth it.. You will leave with a smile on your face and a full belly.. The food flavors here at the Chili Crab are top notch and will bring you back... 😋 Tonight we had steemed Shrimp Dumplings, Garlic Fry Doungeous Crab 🦀, twice 🌶 cooked pork belly, candied Bananas 🍌 w/ vanilla ice cream. WOW! 😋 Take the time and give it a try, it may be your new favorite place.. 😋
The dim sum (think Asian tapas) was delicious. My favorites were the chili wings and duck bao (bun). If you want to save $$, try their happy hour menu and load up on the fantastic shrimp or chicken fried rice. Everything is a few dollars less on the happy hour menu (12-6pm). If you're not worried about the $$, go all in on the whole duck with plum sauce pancakes. You won't regret it. The place looks similar to all the bbq joints that were there before, but with an Asian theme over the woodwork. The owner is super friendly and will greet you with a warm wave if he's there when you arrive. The wait staff is helpful. Only some team members speak fluent English, but we never felt abandoned. My only suggestion is to add some good Asian favorites to the dessert menu. Red bean ice cream, green team ice cream, sticky rice. Thank you for a delicious meal.
I just went to Chili Crab tonight for the first time, and I am thoroughly impressed. When you first walk in, you can tell they put a lot of effort into redesigning the restaurant (the building used to be a BBQ place), and the decor is very nice. Next, the service was impeccable: very polite and friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. And of course, most importantly, the food! We had a bit of everything: the xiaolongbao, gyoza, various shrimp dim sum, yuzu honey ribs, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, calimari, chili chicken (quite spicy, as it should be!), and romaine with garlic. I loved everything, each dish was prepared perfectly and the flavors were fantastic. We tried one of each dessert and they were all a great fusion of traditional fine dining dessert choices but with a distinct Asian twist. Overall I highly recommend Chili Crab, it's a little on the pricier end but between the quality of the food and the portions, totally worth the occasional splurge.
The food itself is very authentic and not like you'd find at other places (suchaspfchangs). There are little Chinese decorations throughout the place to give it that type of vibe. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Recommended to try new foods here that are ACTUALLY Chinese.
Don’t be fooled——- I went there at 4:30 to avoid Covid eating inside. Seriously outstanding food. I had Szechuan Bronzino, garlic broccoli, and vegetable Gyoza. All freshest food, delicate, but packed with flavor. This one is definitely a win!
We were passing through and decided to stop to eat here, since I am passionate about Asian food, I was really pleased, the attention was excellent and if you want to try the true Asian flavors I recommend coming, everything was just delicious!!!!
A new hidden gem for Boca! The owner Alan makes their dumplings homemade from scratch and fresh every day. Very great customer service and beautiful atmosphere. Great energy. Will come back again and will be a great customer.
Absolute gem of a Chinese restaurant squirreled away in Boca. Actually authentic (southern Chinese) food, great staff, awesome drinks, and both the crab and the Peking duck are well worth it. Can’t wait to come back.
Food was excellent, came here at lunch and the specials were reasonably priced. The service from Allen was impeccable will definitely be coming back here!!
amazing!!! had my first anniversary here, my partner and I were pleased by how kind and serviceful the staff here was. the food is delectable and authentic
The food is just amazing, they have a great menu and the plates are so big and really fufilling, as well as the serivce is fast and nice and really friendly, the restaurant is cute and super nice.
We had such a fun and delicious experience at Chili Crab in Boca Raton! We ordered the dim sum combo, frog legs, gator, and duck—and everything was so good. The dim sum combo had a little bit of everything and was super fresh. The frog legs were tender and flavorful! The gator had this bold, crispy flavor that we loved, and the duck was rich and juicy with crispy skin—definitely one of the highlights of the lunch. The vibe of the place is great too—chill but still feels special. And the staff was really sweet and helpful, especially when we were asking a bunch of questions about the menu. If you’re looking to try something different (or just want really solid Chinese food), you’ve got to check this place out. I’m already planning to go back!
From the moment you walk up the charming, lantern-lit pathway to Chili Crab, you know you’re in for something special. The twinkling lights gently guide you toward an experience that feels like a hidden corner of Hong Kong right here in Boca Raton. Once inside, you’re instantly transported—the decor is impeccable, striking the perfect balance between modern elegance and the cozy authenticity of a cha chaan teng or sai chaan teng. It’s clear that every detail, from the textures on the walls to the warm, inviting lighting, was thoughtfully curated. The bilingual menu—presented in both English and Chinese—is a wonderful touch that adds to the cultural richness of the experience. We started our evening with the Fiji Apple Martini and the Lychee Martini. Both were deliciously balanced and surprisingly strong—a great start to the meal. Appetizers included the crispy, golden scallion pancakes, savory soup dumplings and flavorful lobster dumplings. Each dish was expertly prepared and packed with authentic flavor. For our main course, we ordered the iconic Peking Duck (half), served with delicate pancakes. One of the highlights of the evening was watching the duck expertly carved on a cutting board—an artful presentation that added a touch of ceremony to the meal. We also shared a plate of roasted pork fried rice, which was rich and satisfying. (The only thing I’d tweak would be to have the onions chopped a bit finer for better texture.) To top off the meal, we indulged in the candied banana with vanilla ice cream—a perfect combination of warm, crispy sweetness and cool, creamy smoothness. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and genuine. The owner personally came out from the kitchen to check on us, which added such a warm and welcoming touch. I believe his son may have been tending bar—either way, it’s clear that this is a family-run establishment where pride and passion shine through. The presence of a live seafood tank, showcasing fresh crabs and other seafood, is another sign of the restaurant’s commitment to quality and freshness. All in all, this was a five-out-of-five-star experience. We’ll absolutely be returning—and bringing friends next time. Chili Crab is a true gem in Boca Raton, offering not just a meal, but a memorable culinary journey.
Really good authentic food. Plenty of fresh seafood options and delicious spicy dishes. The staff is very nice and accommodating too. Will keep coming back!
I would eat here every week if I could. This place is legitimate Cantonese style food and the Dungeness crab in ginger garlic sauce is divine. Dumplings are also good. Peking duck, fantastic! The waitstaff is attentive and professional, and the atmosphere is not too loud or funereal. Great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. I will be back!
Very delicious and original food. I tried lobster dumplings for the first time and they are not to be missed out on! Perfectly cooked with an exquisite sauce on the top. The service is great. Very kind waiters and quick service guaranteed. Best chinese food in Boca!
We had a great time. Chatted with the couple who own the restaurant. Both lovely. Food was great! Service exceptional. Will definitely go back - with friends.....
I grew up in NJ right outside of Philadelphia and have looking for a great Asian restaurant since I moved to florida. I had literally given up after being disappointed so many times. And then….found Chili crab and it exceeded all of my expectations and ranks up there with the best I’ve ever had. If you want great Hing Kong Inspired food then you chili crab is for you
Surely exceeded my expectations as drove past Chili Crab for years and never had the opportunity to give it a try. I would say it’s pretty authentic with a full menu. We decided to just try the dim sums on this visit and it was all delicious and tasty. Service was also good. Place also offers a full bar list from wine, to beer to liquor. They also have a lunch menu as well.
Celebrated with half a Peking duck. It seemed deep fried. Tasted okay, but definitely not worth $60plus after tax and tip. Server was nice. Just don't eat Chinese food in palm beach county... Just no.
Good Chinese food with heavy from the sea menu. Thai chicken fried rice with basil was competent but chicken a little rubbery. Vegetable Goyza was descent and the spicy Chili chicken was excellent. Friendly service, modern Asian decor make this an enjoyable destination eatery.
When they say something is spicy 🔥🥵 watch out. Had the most delicious spicy dish I had ever had. I know everyone's palate is different. All the rest of my family enjoyed their meals. Would definitely recommend.
We enjoyed our lunch overall, however…. $15 for FIVE soup dumplings that eerily resemble Trader Joe’s…. Duck sliders were decent, Thai fried rice was okay, and we got soft shell crabs (fried) with a dry garlic and chili bread crumb, 6 for $65 which isn’t a bad price. These crabs tasted like they were battered in bisquick or funnel cake mix. Also it was 70% batter 30% crab. Odd but edible. Cute little spot, I understand why many people say it’s overpriced but we are in Boca Raton… doing business isn’t cheap here. Our bill was $165 with 20% gratuity with only water as our drinks.
Great service. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Food is pricey and pretty expensive. Calamari tasted very weird and sweet like corn bread. The soups were no good, the fish soup tasted very fishy and not fresh. The fried fish also didn't taste fresh. Was told that the fish is all frozen, not fresh. The dungeness crab was very fresh, but the seasoning on it is somewhat bland, it could have used a little more flavor. We had picked another flavor and the waitress convinced us to change to the fried garlic flavor and it really lacked flavor. The Pekeng duck was good and crispy but again very pricey. Drinks are watered down. We really liked the gai lan. The dimsum although limited in selection was very delicious. The shrimp balls were made perfectly, they were not over steamed so when you picked it up, it stayed intact and did not fall apart. When we told the servers about the soup because we didn't want them serving it to others, we were told it's supposed to taste that way because the fish is stir fried before. Unfortunately, it really tasted like rotten fish. They gave us complimentary dessert to make up for the soup.
I arrived early, when it wasn't busy, to assist with a dinner and was pretty slow to order my drink as my accomplice ordered a tea.. When I had finally requested a tea for myself, the staff kind of pointed to the kettle like I was an idiot, but they somehow forgot they only gave us one cup. Pair that with the fact I saw a roach on the benches before anyone arrived and you can see why I'm not personally diggin the service. That aside, once my accomplice got to see his relatives the service really picked up and the food was fantastic. Altogether, I'd give Chili Crab a 6.5/10.. It's okay but, like, just okay.
Follow @eatwithhordy! This was the first, and likely final, visit to this place. After much hesitation due to some menu review before hand and their exorbitant pricing, we decided to take the plunge. The menu consisted of some of the standard Chinese restaurant dishes along with some items outside the box from your average restaurant. Starting with an assortment of dim sum we were able to taste a few of their different dumpling options. Most of which were boring, except the cilantro shrimp, and at a price tag of $25 for 8, it was certainly not worth it. The pan seared pompano, which came filet’d, was still rather bony. Layered in a sweet house soy sauce, it was half decent, but certainly nothing to come back for. One of the main reasons I came was for the Peking duck. A good Peking is hard to come by down here in the area. Even though it was over salted, this wasn’t half bad. The skin (my fav) was crispy as can be. The meat was mostly tender and had a good flavor. The pancakes traditionally served appeared to be made from rice (I could certainly be wrong) instead of flour and had the wrong consistency for this dish. At an absurd $40 for a location of this type, I just can’t justify it. You know when you have that little voice that whispers inside you, “don’t do it”, well I should probably listen more often.
Ordered takeout ahead yesterday to beat the rush. The dumplings were fried instead of steamed and it took 25 minutes to get them replaced. I noticed two couples leave because they weren't being serviced. Looked like the staff could care less. This place wouldn't last a week in NYC.
We had a reservation for 5pm. No one approached us. After waiting for 40 minutes we left. I thought maybe the inefficient system would have changed since last year. Didn’t happen! We ordered food from another Chinese restaurant!!
While eating at the restaurant I observed something that was downright disgusting and left me speechless. I saw the chef take a live crab out a a fish tank and begin chopping the live crab up on a cutting board in preparation for cooking. Seconds later a cooked peking duck was placed on the same cutting board where it was then cut up, platted and served to another table. The cutting board was clearly covered in filthy fish tank water and raw crab guts from a living uncooked crab. I was mortified, gaging and nearly throwing up knowing we had just eaten a duck from the same cutting board. Anyone reading this can make their own judgment.
Just ordered through Door Dash tonight ($175 order). When it got here it was missing 2 dishes- the crispy shrimp roll and the Yuzu BBQ spare ribs. I called and spoke to the manager who blamed door dash and could not care less- told us we have to call door dash. The food itself was way overpriced and frankly some of the worst food I have had (I am from the NY/NJ area). The kung pao chicken was dry, not much flavor except the spice level. The bok choy, supposedly with garlic, was dry and without sauce (and only 3 pieces!) and the singapore rice noodle- which was supposed to have shrimp, chicken and pork had a few slivers of chicken and pork, a few small shrimp and was dry and tasteless. If you eat there, don't say you weren't warned. (and yes, Door Dash refunded us $37.84!).
TERRIBLE DO NOT GO! We had a reservation for Christmas Day booked a month ago and they laughed in our face. 100s of people waiting outside and the servers didn’t care. People waiting hours for food. THEY NEED TO GO
The food was awful the place smells. The lady inside is very pushy and fake. The food was awful the crab was gross stay away I never write reviews for me to do so it’s that bad. I’m from Long Island and was raised in NYC this place is awful! Stay away.
Not ok. Had reservations for Christmas evening for weeks. They don’t honor reservations?? Y allow reservations to be made then? Not acceptable. Party of 10 from out of town.
The absolutely worse experience we ever had at any restaurant Expect to wait 90 minutes before anyone seats you in spite of having a reservation. If you get seated, wait again before your order is taken. Two. Hours later if you are lucky, your order is taken and the food comes to the table piecemeal . No restaurant can expect to remain in business with this flagrant disregard for their customers. Happy Holidays
Awful. We should've known as soon as we walked in the front door and saw both of the seafood tanks So dirty with grey brown water that we should've just turned around and left. The dim sum was not fresh, obviously frozen, and did not taste good. The Peking duck was average and everything else, including a shrimp dish in brown sauce was served it with the tails on was borderline un edible. Almost everything here is frozen, and even if it is fresh, it exists in some festering dirty water as soon as you walk in the front door. This place needs to close.
This place is a train wreck. This is the 2nd time we’ve tried to eat here. Made reservations both times. They don’t mean anything. You can’t even check in because there is no hostess, just a waitress running around in disarray while nobody else working there seems to speak English. So there is a line of 20 people with reservations just waiting to talk to someone. You will be waiting 30 minutes just to tell them you had a reservation. Then you wait another 30 minutes before they have a table, and maybe you get your food an hour after that. We thought it couldn’t be as bad the second time and the first time was a fluke. It was worse the 2nd time. We just walked out after standing around for 20 minutes trying to check in.
