Pretty good clam Chowder and really good crab sandwich! Came in town to try our some of the clam Chowder and also some of the crab sandwich. I really enjoyed the sandwich it had a lot of crab meat (1/4 LB) The Chowder is pretty good too, very big pieces of clam! Flavor is good though could be creamier (used to Boston style) Only ding is that seating is pretty limited and you'll probably have to share a table with other people. The parking situation is a bit rough too I had to circle a few times and finally found a spot 4 minutes away for compact cars. Definitely go check them out!
Hazard is right as the best chowder in Sonoma County, I agree that it is! I particularly like their red, aka, Manhattan Clam Chowder(which is GF), though they're white, aka, New England Clam chowder is also excellent. They also have seafood cocktails, seafood sandwiches, and on Saturday and Sunday crab cakes if you get there after 1:00 p.m..

The food is amazing!! You will not find more fresh crab than here at spuds. As a foreigner a local recommended Spuds, and I am so glad I listened. I had their crab sandwich and it was amazing, I went back for a second. Their clam chowder is every bit of perfect.
This restaurant has a great open invitation vibe. The moment I came in I noticed the chef outside in the front of restaurant grilling up some oysters of which I ordered the Garlic butter 😋 grilled or check out few other combinations adding as much heat flavor you need. I also had two of the fried Halibut tacos which were simply delicious 😋 they also had zero alcohol beer 🍺 or a nice selection of other beers. After crabbing for the day it's pleasant way to end your trip to Bodega Bay. Thanks for the experience.
This little restaurant is really nice. The sandwiches are wonderfully soft, and the ingredients taste very fresh. The prices are reasonable, and there’s a good variety to choose from. I especially recommend the white soup and the tuna sandwich. There’s also a crab sandwich, which is quite interesting. There is outdoor seating available, which is nice, although the umbrella helped only a little with the shade. The chairs were fine, and the overall setup was comfortable. The staff were really kind and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant.
We ate there a few weeks ago, and we are still talking about how good the clam chowder was (so figured we had to write a review). In fact, this may be the best New England clam chowder we’ve ever had. Amazing spices, lots of clams, hot, and a plentiful portion. Three of us ordered the clam chowder, and a loaf of sourdough, and we were all blown away.
We came to try the clam chowder, crab cakes and crab sandwich. They do not disappoint every bite you take is full of flavor. This place is a must stop by and try more then one item. We left full and satisfied.

I have been coming here for crab sandwiches and white clam chowder for the last 20 or so years since I was a kid. The people are friendly and they get the food out to you quick! Depending on what time you arrive there is potential for a line. If you follow the road past the restaurant and up the curve, you have a beautiful view of the ocean and some tables up there to eat. They also have seating at the restaurant. I will eat here as long as they are in business!!! When I have kids I'd love to continue on the tradition and take them here.
The crab sandwich and clam chowder were absolutely delicious!! I'm definitely thinking about coming back! The only downside was that a wasp kept flying around once we started eating, so we ended up packing everything and eating in the car 😐 Other than that, everything was great!
Great little clam chowder speciality stop that's all day long comparable to the World Famous Splash Cafe in Pismo, California! What makes them even better is their appreciation to military veterans, so be sure to show your ID!

Famous for a reason — delicious, but expect a wait I found this place through Google and ChatGPT recommendations for the best crab sandwiches and clam chowder — and it lived up to the hype! There’s no need for a reservation, but there’s always a line. During our visit, the line never got shorter — it’s a very popular spot. Service is counter-style: you order at the window, get your food, and then try to find a place to eat nearby. There are a few tables and some standing spots, but seating is very limited, especially if you’re with kids. We ended up eating at a standing table, which wasn’t very comfortable. A good option is to take your food to the nearby waterfront — there are benches and a nice walking area — or grab it to-go if you’re local. Now the food — absolutely delicious! We tried both the red and traditional clam chowder — each one had its own unique flavor and was totally worth it. Prices are a bit higher than average, but it’s understandable given the location’s popularity and reputation. In short: Fantastic chowder and crab sandwiches, iconic local spot, but come prepared for crowds and limited seating. Still 100% worth the visit!
Carols white new england style chowder is magnificent. This is right out of Bodega Bay on the Bodega Head. They offer both Manhattan and New England style. Seafood sandwiches, crab cakes and a super size loaf of fresh italian bread are available. The vibe is fresh, fast, picnic table dining right outside, order at the window and sit facing the marina.
We drove up to Bodega Bay just for the clam chowder from Spud. It was creamy and delicious. I would recommend buying it to go and take it to the Bodega Bay Trail head. There are picnic tables there and the views are awesome
It's such an awesome place! I've been here many times when I visited Bodega Bay and never disappointed. I always order the regular New England Clam chowder. They run out of their bread fast if you don't make it early.
The best clam chowder in town! I like both the New England-style and the Manhattan-style clam chowder they offer here. Both are very yummy. The New England clam chowder tastes better than most other restaurants. The Manhattan clam chowder is tomato-based. It is very delicious, and I feel that it is healthy. Lol! There is a long line on most weekends and holidays, but the line is usually shorter before 11:00 a.m. On the weekends, they have crab cakes after 1:00 p.m. Parking is no problem. There is a parking lot a few hundred feet from the restaurant or another bigger parking lot across the street with a short walk.
No frills, all flavor. A little hole in the wall spot with a limited menu and even more limited seating. And it's great! We had both styles of clam chowder. Each a delicious take on the classic New England and Manhattan styles. Richly flavored and textured well. Thick and packed with ingredients. The crab roll was scrumptious! We were so excited to come here but unfortunately experienced the ultimate let down. We were in Bodega around NYE but couldn’t sacrifice the wait time for the food. So when we came back over Labor Day we decided to make a stop. The clam chowder was great! They put a decent amount of crab on a Safeway hoggie roll and called it good. No butter, lemon juice or mayo to make it edible. No spices. Just straight crab and hoggie. Worst sandwich we’ve had in a long time. Also parking is atrocious and there are not enough tables to even come close to handling the amount of people who waste their time stopping here. Would strongly suggest going elsewhere if you’re in the area.
