Excellent food, service and laid back atmosphere. Almost didn’t go in due to some reviews, but we felt this is one of our favorite North End restaurants now! We ordered the Barbabietola appetizer, and 3 entrees: Risotto Gamberoni Al Zafferano, Agnolotti All’aragosta, and the Filetto. It was All FANTASTIC! We were so pleasantly surprised by the fresh quality and wobderful taste of everything! The filet was tender and perfectly cooked! Potatoes & asparagus were wonderful. Fresh shrimp! Just wonderful flavors. We also had an “Old Fashioned” drink, and it was excellent. Fresh and tasty bread was brought out with olive oil and whole olives in it, and that was excellent too! It was nice to sit with open window views. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly! The owner was there, and he even took pictures with us! It was early so the chef was able to get in our picture as well. Great dining experience at Nando!
Stopped here with friends ahead of a dinner out on a Sunday evening. The aperitivo atmosphere was a little light, but the bartender was very attentive and mixed up some really good pre-dinner cocktails. Good recommendation for a little snack to go with the drinks. Very modern atmosphere, the bar seating was very comfortable (even for those of us with short legs), and the place was spotless from a cleanliness standpoint. Had we been in Boston longer we would have come back for a meal.
Lola was an amazing server popping in and out of the windows to serve the outside patio. Fruitti De mare was delightful and some of the freshest best tasting mussels, little neck clams, calamari that I will be comparing everything to from now on. Really awesome spot we didn't have to wait for lucky late on a Thursday. We just walked in and got a spot right by the street in the window.
Ooo best place ever. Finished the old fashion mod tour which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND and they dropped us off for the absolute best pasta dinner I've had in my life. Seriously, nothing will ever compare. If you want the best meal of your entire existence.. look no further. Our waitress even was from Sicily and she was instrumental to our incredible experience. Don't know what to get? Ask because she will guide you to a dish that will blow your mind.
Came here on a whim. And I'm happy we did. We dined outside and I was very impressed with how quiet it was. The service was excellent. The food was very good. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Had a wonderful dinner at Nando! We sat on their lovely patio and kicked things off with some champagne—great selection. My partner, who’s had his fair share of Negronis, gave their classic Negroni a big thumbs up: solid, well-balanced, no frills, just done right. The lobster ravioli was absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My partner had the frutti di mare with shrimp and clams, which was equally satisfying, generous portions and fresh seafood. We finished off with mini cannolis and espresso—perfect sweet ending without being too heavy. Special shoutout to our server, Sonja, who was attentive, friendly, and made the evening even better. Definitely recommend for a date night!
Nando is a treat from beginning to end. We ended up stumbling upon it as we were waiting for another reservation that never came to be. They were able to sit our group of 5 rather quickly. We had meatballs and calamari to start. Both were delicious, especially the calamari which had this sweet and sour type of taste to it. Delicious. My main dish was the scialatelli frutti di mare. Squid ink pasta covered in a seafood dream of mussels, clams, shrimp, so good! Will definitely be back
Loved my experience here. Great food and service was spectacular. Place is small but clean and updated. Veal parm was great.
This place was amazing. We had the best calamari I've ever eaten, it had a sweet orangy flavor. Then i had the veal chop punded thin with a home made bread crumbs crust made from the in his bread sticks, came with probably the best risotto I've ever had as well. The owner Sal was a fantastic host.
Seafood FraDiavolo, Pappadelle with truffle cream sauce and scallops, Delicious! Special appetizer of smoked mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto was to die for!
Wonderful food. I'd been eying the place since I heard truffle cream sauce. And it was worth it. But some different spins on food. Our food was Arancini All' Aragosta (lobster arancinis) Pappardelle con Capesante e Gunghi (subbed shrimp instead of scallop) Chicken Mare e Monti (minus peas) The sauce attached to the arancini was a Buffalo sauce. I don't usually like Buffalo but it was decent and a unique spin. The truffle cream sauce was tremendous, but the shock was the Chicken Mare. The chicken was the most delicious piece of chicken we have had in Boston. And the white sauce was close to a gracy and absolutely delicious. Now we came for lunch. I bet at night when there's hundreds of people outside it gets super loud, but it is nice at lunch to have the open windows into the street. And just a note, not a lot of tables inside so it probably fills up easily.
Early Valentines lunch date here with my 5 year old son. We got here at 12:15 much earlier than my original reservation but the hostess sat us and was very friendly. My first time here and loved the atmosphere small but lots of great decor. The tables were pretty small for someone like me who likes to try a few different plates but the seats were larger and comfortable. My son and I shared the fresh bread and dipping oils. As well as the meatballs in the most flavorful sauce, of coursed used bread to dip there too!! He got the pasta and butter for lunch which I feel a bit overpriced for what it was. I also ordered the charcuterie board with a great mix of Italian meats and mozzarella. All in all great time and go earlier if you can as we walked by around 1:30 and it was packed.
We were looking for a place for lunch and just came upon Nando. The restaurant is nicely done with open windows with the AC on.We were seated immediately and water was brought. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were excellent ! Would definitely go again, highly recommended!
We ordered two dishes: steak and another pasta dish that I don't remember the name of. We thought the steak should have been seasoned better. In any case, we were well served and the place was very good.
While Nando's does a great job accommodating gluten free... Pro tip if you show up with 2 out of 3 people gluten free, you get an entire serving of the bread to yourself and it is mind meltingly delicious.
We saw empty seats at the bar and wanted to get an Italian dinner before the game, and we were very happy with the food, service, experience. The bartender was attentive, gave great suggestions, and made sure to get the order going quickly! The beet salad was awesome!! We had the swordfish and chicken parm for mains and both enjoyed our dishes a lot!
Beyond my expectations, what an amazing experience I had with a friend of mine. Great food and excellent customer service. The food is delicious, drinks spectacular and definitely I will recommend this spectacular place to all my friends.
Best restaurant in the North End! My fiancé and I have been coming here ever since it opened and we love the food more & more each visit. The owners are always there greeting everyone, the staff is so accommodating, and the food is the best of the best. Coming from a big Italian family myself, this place feels right at home!
Great spot for fine Italian food in the North End. Right on Hanover. Business dinner for eight guys... Everything arrived together and correct. Food was delicious.
I stopped in on this place without a reservation on Thursday 8/25/23, Right at the beginning of the Feast of St. Anthony. They were courteous and accommodating. Sat us and were awesome about the three people that are unable to eat Gluten (not easy in the North End). I am Celiac and was able to order a fantastic gluten free gnocchi with alfredo sauce and chicken. It was absolutely bomb. Friendly waitstaff, amazing food, beautiful presentation. Do not eat here without trying the figs, wrapped in prosciutto stuffed with goat cheese. You will never be the same. Great people, great vibe, great food. Give it a go!
Food was incredible. No wait on a Thursday for dinner. The hostess was welcoming and sat us immediately. Burrata with pears and pistachio was some of the best I’ve had in my life. A unique fine dining experience in the north end. We are local and have been to them all. 100% recommend.
We are from out of town and we're recommended to come here from front desk at our hotel, I'm so glad we did. The food was great! When I come back to Boston I will definitely be coming back here!
Food is very delicious has a great atmosphere the owner and his wife are very friendly came over introduced themselves great place to go for a special occasion or a night out even for lunch highly recommended🇮🇲🙏
An obvious neighborhood favorite!! Our server was gracious, accommodating, and sweet. The owners took time to check on us and talk to us. The food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was enhanced on our Friday night visit by a soprano singing traditional songs and one modern one. A must visit for anyone wanting elevated, authentic, and atmospheric dining.
My husband & I had a wonderful meal at Nando, from the hostess to our servers, all super helpful & attentive. Even though there was a line to get in we never felt rushed. The meals we had were delicious. Our new favorite restaurant in the North End.
Stopped in on a Sunday night with my mom. She chose it because she said she trusted her instincts. She was so right. Lirsa was amazing. She took our order swiftly and was able to secure something for us that was off the menu. The food was delicious. Bread and olive oil was unreal. Service was A1. They’ll open your can of Diet Coke and pour it into a glass of ice for you. Definitely give Nando a shot for dinner.
Nando's is such a breath of fresh air on Hanover street. It adds des comforting flare to tried and true italian dishes. The Calamari is incredible. You can't go wrong with drinks (espresso martinis, or Hugos at the bar!)
It was one of THE BEST meals I have had. The food was amazing and sumptuous from a delicious appetizer and salad to the tiny but incredible Cannoli. The veal Milanese was just delicious. Going back immediately to enjoy. another treasured meal. Marge
I don’t usually do these sort of things, but my finance and I were in Boston this past week and didn’t know much about the city. We found this place randomly and it was some of the best times we have had! Our waiter Gavin was incredibly funny and the food was fantastic. If you enjoy upscale Italian, this is the place!
The best restaurant in the north end. Excellent food and cocktails. The owners are so accommodating and hands on with the restaurant every time we visit. In a neighborhood that sold out this is the last authentic spot.
We had no reservation on a Saturday night but we got seated at the bar. The drinks were great and the food was phenomenal. Great service and great food, we’ll be back.
Great place in North End. Server was attentive. Ravioli and Polpo alla Brace (grilled octopus) were really good. Cozy feel. Outside tables as well. Recommend!
Dinner was fabulous, service was impeccable; and Gwen was soo sweet. Ambience was enhanced by violinist playing across the street making this dinner romantic and a wonderful cap to our trip to Boston!
They have great gluten free accommodations. I got gf gnocchi with vodka sauce and pancetta which was delicious. Unfortunately it does get quite cold if you’re by the exit because of the glass windows and they keep the door open.
Nice outside patio area on a sunny afternoon. The bread, burrata and sprouts were very nice. The octopus and meatballs lacking flavour.
Popped into this Italian spot in Boston with some pretty high hopes. We decided on the branzino and swordfish, throwing in a few appetizers for good measure. The branzino arrived as a whole fish, which was a pleasant surprise, and thankfully, it wasn't a battle with tiny bones - they were easy enough to navigate around. The pasta was, well, just okay. It filled the spot but didn't leave a lasting impression, kind of like a background character in a bustling street scene. The calamari was decent, not the star of the show but a solid performance. Overall, I'd say the food was pretty good by Boston's Italian dining standards, enough to make me consider a return visit. It's a solid 4-star place for me. The branzino was the highlight, and while not everything hit the high notes, the experience was enjoyable enough to leave a good taste in my mouth.
The lobster ravioli with vodka sauce was wonderful- generous amounts of lobster and great flavor. The pumpkin ravioli…. It just wasn’t my thing— but it was prepared well— I’ll chalk it up to personal preference. Their bread- amazing! Absolutely loved their salads! Very attentive service and our meals arrived hot and quickly. Definitely worth a try!
Great food! So tatsy! ❤️ The Seafood. Heart of the N. End. Would definitely go again. Definitely recommend going here.
It was delicious. I liked service, I liked foods. Pasta was fresh. App was great.
Great food, I had the Lobster Ravioli 👌. Great service. 👌 Atmosphere is also nice. It’s the north end, gets crowded and loud. Overall, would dine there again
This place is awesome! 10 of us came from CT and everyone’s meals were great, as were the appetizers and delicious cannolis! The owners came over as did their adorable son who the restaurant was named after! What a great experience. Would recommend to anyone! Great place!!!
Used to be my favorite spot in the north end but since Covid it seems theyve doubled their prices and cut portion in half. To be clear the food is excellent, but... two plates of pasta, a glass of wine, and a bottle of water will run you $100 (before tip!) and you'll leave hungry. Doesn't feel good.
Our server was nice and the food was plated well but beyond that everything was very mediocre. Food was bland, I ordered the veal Milanese and received chicken. Took them a long time to greet us, get us water etc and it was not busy for lunch. Not a spot I plan on visiting again.
The food itself was tasty, but the portions were disappointingly small for the price. The service was passable, but the real issue — and the reason I will never return — was the behavior of a man in a cheap, ill-fitting tan suit who seemed to be in charge. He was pushy and rude, shoving through pedestrians without so much as an “excuse me” to get guests seated outside. I watched him pressure a table who was simply enjoying their wine to hurry up and leave so he could seat new customers. On top of that, he openly argued with his staff — even resorting to profanity — right in front of diners. It was unprofessional, uncomfortable, and downright embarrassing for the restaurant. If you care about respectful service and good business practices, avoid this Nando’s. Good food alone is not enough to make up for such appalling management.
Food was good. Staff was nice. My issue is with the management. The reservations need to allot at least 1.5 hours for customers to enjoy their meal. We had a reservation for 6:15. We sat down at 6:25. We were still eating our appetizers when they brought out our entrees. By 7:20 they were making it very obvious that they wanted us out. They cleared off the table completely while we were in the middle of a conversation. I have never experienced this at a North End restaurant. Now I know why we were able to make a last minute reservation.
I made a reservation online and informed them it was for a special occasion. I requested indoor seating and the hostess sat us right in the middle. The owner came over to us and told us we needed to be moved downstairs because the table was not for us. The table was never filled and we were stuck in a small VERY basement. I don't want to say because my wife was pregnant, but it seemed like it only became an issue when she took her jacket off that we were addressed. Food was mid for the North End as well.
Was super disappointed with our experience here.. We made reservations here on saturday night for 6:15 pm far in advance. We weren't sat until after 7 pm; both times we asked about our table, there was no apology or anything, simply "theyre cleaning off tables on the patio". There were also multiple other people waiting, angry about the same thing, so it wasn't just us experiencing this. Once we were finally sat almost an hour after our reservation, we got apps and drinks— apps were the best part of the meal tbh. None of us were impressed with our entrees, I got the chicken parm, my fiance got bolognese (extremely mediocre). Overall would not return for multiple reasons.
AVOID! Atmosphere is great. Service is marginal. Food the worst ever! For example, bread with no olive oil or balsamic vinegar. When asked , oil/ vinegar was brought out , but with no plate or bowl to dip it in , equals marginal service, We ordered an appetizer special with fried zucchini supposedly stuffed with ricotta cheese per our server . Yet there was no zucchini and it was mozzarella cheese. Again marginal service if the server doesn't understand cheeses. And terrible food. Ordered the special with braised rib with demi glaze and pasta. The demi glaze tasted like old fashion American gravy. No garlic or red wine in the sauce. Son ordered salmon. Nothing inspiring. And came with an ice cold filo pastry . No manager on Thursday night to even solve. Terrible terrible. They dont care about providing amazing food and service. Just tourist trap .
My friends and I, including some visiting from out of town, had a reservation for 7 at Nando and waited for over 40 minutes without being sat before deciding to leave the restaurant. They called earlier in the day to confirm the reservation, which we did. We arrived on time and were told it would be 15-20 minutes, which was fine. We checked in with the hostess and the owner multiple times, and they told us that they were working on it. Instead, they sat two parties of 4 that came in after us at adjacent tables when they could’ve easily put us there. When we checked in again right before leaving, we were told it would be another 15-20. The food looked good, but I guess we’ll never know.
Ate here for the first time to celebrate a birthday and it felt like anything but. We arrived at 6:12 for a 6:30 reservation and wasn’t seated until 7:05. We ordered the Insalata Di Mira, calamari, lobster ravioli, and Scialatielli Frutti Di Mare, and a simple vodka pasta for my 8 year old. The calamari and salad were good, however, we were all extremely disappointed with the food as it was bland and lacked any sort of flavor. Needless to say, my son and the birthday girl took two bites of food and asked that it be taken back. You could tell they barely touched it. Following, I ordered my son regular French fries so he wouldn’t be hungry when we got home, and they charged us for “truffle fries.” They didn’t remove the un-eaten plates off the bill, but offered us 3 cannoli’s for our trouble. They didn’t even aknowledge we were there for a birthday. All in all, it was a terrible experience, and the worst $300 I ever spent. They did nothing to recover the service or to make the dining experience better. I wouldn’t recommend it nor return. I’ve never been more disappointed with any restaurant in my life. I was embarrassed for even taking my family there.
