Opinions de Prince Tea House Bowery
FOOD: I thought this was just a tea house that specialized in bakery items and of course tea. I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the eggs, Benedict and the fried chicken and waffles. Their savory items are just as delicious as the bakery items. ATMOSPHERE: this location is a very casual vibe. Perfect for brunch for just an afternoon tea. I saw many couples enjoying a light meal and also saw groups of six comfortably enjoying the conversation and atmosphere. SERVICE: the service was impeccable. My water glass was never empty for too long. When I finished enjoying one dish they politely offered to bring a clean dish and silverware so I can enjoy other items that the table was sharing. TEA: they had a small but mighty option of teas. I appreciated that they reduced their teams to only the best. A good variety of iced and hot teas. I personally really enjoyed the English toffee milk, tea!
Excellent tea house. It was easy to get a table for 6 without reservations. The afternoon tea has an emphasis on savories with less sweets which I deeply appreciate. All the food on the afternoon tea was very tasty and the price was excellent! Tea was also good and I really appreciate their use of tea pot warmers on the table which many tea houses don't use. I definitely intend to come back in the future.
A pleasant place with many varieties of sweets and tea. The apple tart was very good.
Amazing staff and service! Held a bridal shower here and all of our gests felt well fed and happy when leaving. The staff was super attentive and helped make the day go very smooth!
My friend got the matcha cake. It tasted really good. It was soft and creamy. I’m not usually a matcha person but because of the sweetness of the cake it didn’t make it taste bitter. A slice was a good portion for three of us to share. I also wouldn’t say it was too sweet either. We got it to go but they also have a lot of seating if you want to eat inside. However, the sweets are on the expensive side.
The atmosphere was amazing with nice quiet music playing in the background. My group of 3 ordered cole rose milk tea and passion fruit tea. There was enough for a little more than 6 cups for each pot. They were both really good. We also got the mango crepe cake and it was delicious. They have this cute little robot that comes put to give you food and it sings! You get a free candle if it's your birthday and the bot comes out singing!
This is a well decorated dessert place, a great spot for friends hanging out, dates and parties. The Millie crepe cakes are a specialty here, made in house fresh daily, recommend green tea , purple yam and durian. For tea a must try is rose milk tea. For parties they offer sweet tables, they take birthday parties, baby shower, bridal shower, corporate event and holiday party.
I went with my sister to Prince Tea House, we ordered a lot of food it’s our go to spot for dessert the cake never disappoints us! We ordered extra fruits on the side, also the French toast it’s so good that by looking at it make me hungry again:) I’m glad that the sandwich come with sauces but I like it with more sauce :p hehe, the layers cake I love the matcha one but I wanted to try the regular one! Place was amazing very empty and quiet that’s how I like it, no wait in line, the servers was very sweet and nice and respectful and patience when we order… I will definitely coming back again if counting calories wasn’t a problem but everything eating in there it’s worth the weigh gains 😆👊🏻
I am giving this Tea House location 5 stars. My daughter had her 29th birthday party here yesterday. Her friends & family enjoyed themselves & most importantly my daughter had the best time. Jim was our server. He was friendly & very efficient. He kept everything flowing at a comfortable pace. Whatever anyone requested (more tea, answers about the tea or food) he was very accommodating. Taking away used dishes & cups so the tables didn’t become cluttered. All the guests loved the decor, the food, the tea, & the ambience! The tables were already decorated with beautiful tea cups, tea pots with a burner to keep the tea at a comfortable temperature. If I was going to take away a star it would be because of the tight space…we had the entire back of the restaurant/tea house to ourselves, so servers & other customers had to pass through BUT I won’t take away a star!!! None of our guests complained or seemed bothered by the space. I also have to commend Sue, she might have been the manager (handling the business side) was also very friendly & making sure we were getting what we wanted (where do you want the cake, do you want to serve it at the beginning or end?). She answered all text messages & questions leading up to the day of the party. We will go back again!!
The dessert and tea options are fantastic! The service was friendly. I really enjoyed ordering straight from your phone. The order came quickly. Watching the robot go back and forth was pretty interesting. Definitely check this place out if your looking for dessert or a bite to eat or some tea! I highly recommend this place.
We ordered Purple Yum Mille Crepe and Strawberry Matcha Mousse. The mousse is outstanding. The Mille crepe has special purple yum taste but the cream is not as smooth and delicate. So overall good experience, but can be better. The lighting is a bit overpowering at night. It can be better with dimming lights.
I went to the first Prince Tea House that opened on the Upper East Side, so I am going based off all my experiences there, which were fabulous…that being said, the service at this location was very good, but this wasn’t my favorite experience. My friend and I were seating very quickly even though the tea house was quite busy. The servers were quick and cleared our dirty items as well as quickly brought our food out-which was a pleasant surprise. They were did not make us rush out or bother us while we enjoyed lunch. There was also a fun robot that comes through to help the servers with clean up. I thought it was great and the robot even plays music! The tea is why I always want to come back. If you come for anything, try the Lavender Milk Tea and the Rose Milk Tea-hot. Both are the best I’ve ever had. However, I tried it iced and wasn’t sure how much sugar to ask for, so it didn’t quite taste as I remember. The purple Mille crepe cake was still delightful, but the slice was smaller than I remembered and my friend and I were sharing. The fried squid legs were not as good as I had hoped. They were a little tough and I’m pretty sure the heads were still on. I love seafood and squid, but the heads was even a little much for me. I’d pass on that. My friend wanted the crispy chicken wings, and those were pretty tasty and perfectly cooked. Overall, it’s a fun atmosphere with great options if you know what to order. Do order the Lavender Milk Tea Hot (it comes in a beautiful tea set), and the Rose Milk Tea Hot. I’d also recommend ordering the purple Mille crepe cake but keep in mind you might want one to yourself since the serving size is not huge. Food wise, I’d say order the wings or a sandwich.
Love their light, fresh desserts! Service is good, restaurant is clean and well decorated, their tea selection is quite expansive! My only complaint is that they always play depressive, sad love songs. Literally. We've visited both the Chinatown location and the east village location numerous times, and it's never failed. So it's definitely taken away from my experience, unfortunately. I hope they become more mindful of this influence on the overall experience.
Not my favorite Prince Tea House location. Although ambiance was fine… the desserts were very subpar. Banana cheesecake was a bit hard and not fresh, kind of had that freezer taste. The cookies in the smores cookie skillet were also hard. Tea was fine and they also let you sit for a while so that’s nice. Maybe just come for the tea, not the desserts.
$90 for the Afternoon tea for two, we had the smallest sandwiches and less than they use to provide. Left $100+ out of pocket and still hungry. What we had doesn’t match the picture on Google from a few years ago and what I enjoyed a year ago. Way too sweet and not enough savory. What a waste $$$ photo shows today and a Google pic from before. Nice servers but they didn’t know why the portions were smaller. Not coming back.
The place is cute but $10 to be served a fruit salad of unwashed, moldy berries is a little rough. The tea was nice but the napkin and cup were both dirty. I wiped them before I took a photo but berry salad below. Visible white mold in the blackberries and the blueberries have a dusty taste to them. The strawberries were mushy. I'm sure their baked goods are better and this is definitely a nice place for tea with a friend but eat elsewhere first I suppose. I just expect more basic clean presentation for $22.
Come for the atmosphere and IG photos but just order tea. The desserts were meh, tasted like they've been refrigerated too long. Definitely not fresh. (Skip the creme brulee combo and the Panna Cotta). Service was minimal and given the staff doesn't dress the part, some of the ambiance is lost. Decorations in the space are nice but please take down the baby shower, bridal shower and birthday banners. Eek. Teas are the only items worth trying, like the Potted Soil themed one and hot tea since it'll be presented in a tea pot over a candle lit base. Even the cold tea is served in the pot...lot of pomp and circumstance but no substance. Tea for two service is really expensive and for mediocre food, pass!
We ordered a matcha strawberry mousse and it seemed old and not fresh. The strawberry had mold and the side of the mousse had a round dark spot. We requested a new one and we were told that it is what it is and the side that had a dark spot was oreos (on matcha mousse..?) And also the side was crunched up (which it is fine at this point they probably made a mistake picking it up). We gently pointed out the moldy strawberry topping. After 15 minutes we were given the same exact one, with the strawberry changed. The plated didn't even have the decoration - it looked like it was wiped out. The amount of care and sanitation was rather unfitting and uncomfortable.
