Opinions de Shinka ramen & sake bar Bowery
This place was so nice. I was a bit intimidated at first because the place was small, and I had my doubts but I was actually pleasantly surprised. I can’t wait to come back here. I got the birria ramen and my partner got the chicken ramen, and both were so good. They had a keen set of beers and we were both eager to try them all, but I was pretty set on the cocktails, which were also really good! And the music just fit the vibe. Very pleasantly surprised and would come here again. 10/10
I had the bone marrow ramen and it was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and full of flavor. The wait time wasn’t long at all and the atmosphere was really great. I highly recommend!
After trying their smoked duck ramen I could say that this place definitely is one of the best ramen spots in New York City. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is vibrant. The workers were super polite even after we dropped our chopsticks multiple times. Overall a great spot to casually grab some good food or reconnect with friends!
Came here to visit and randomly was craving ramen.. the best spot to go toooooooo!!! I don’t ever finish broth but this one really had me!! Vibes and ppl are amazing ! This will be my go to stop every time I visit ny city !
My sister, partner and I went to Shinka for some ramen. We ordered the Beef bone broth ramen and the Birria ramen. Bone broth was to die for, ugh. Birria was okay still tasty but it doesn’t compare. Helen was our server and bartender. She is amazing! She gave us have some free shots. If you visit ask for Helen.
Blown away like a torpedo out of the water 💥 💥 Michelin star quality BROTH with beef bone marrow. 🥇🥇 Ramen was good but the broth, oh the broth, no words …. 🥹 I grew up here and ate pretty much at all the Asian hot spots from Mott St to cheap eats on Christie St. I wouldn’t have to pay more than $3.50 - $12 for a bowl of noodles. So $21 for this beef bone marrow ramen aka GYUKOTSU is damn excessive but rightly justified. I waited 15 minutes and well worth it 👍👍 I can devour this for lunch 7 days straight 🏆 First time here and I sat at the beer garden mistakenly. A more chill & laid back Japan setting is a quick walk up the steps. 2 establishments sharing 2 types of cuisine ✅✅
Ramen! We ordered ramen and it was soooooo good! The name had the word spicy in it but according to my taste buds it was definitely not spicy at all. We also ordered the lobster taco, the gyoza, and the curry. I tasted the curry, way too sweet for me, and sweet foods are definitely not my thing, but if it's yours, well you should try it.
We were so blown away with the great customer service and phenomenal brunch that we came back later (the same day!) for an early dinner! They also have an awesome selection of beers on tap. During our first visit in the early afternoon -I opted for a rice bowl, my husband had steak tacos and my cousin had the wagyu sliders. Everything was absolutely delicious. Mahmod and Nahid were top notch waiters. They kept checking in with us to make sure all was well. It was a very relaxed and welcoming environment. Nahid and Mahmod enjoyed telling us about the different dishes on the menu and answered our questions without hesitation. They insisted that the next time we come back we try the Ramen. After we left the restaurant, we "worked up our appetite" again by exploring the Museum of Modern Art- so we decided to go back to Shinka! Since it was later in the day, the restaurant was more packed, but Nahid and Mahmod remembered us and welcomed us back with a friendly greeting. The atmosphere was alive with conversation and had a really chill vibe. I ordered the Bone Broth Ramen, my husband had the Wagyu sliders this time and we ordered the gyoza for appetizers. They food came out in a reasonable time. I was blown away by the Bone Broth Ramen. Like. Literally. I was almost emotional. Words can't describe the rich flavors I experienced. Eating the ramen felt like I was experiencing an outer body experience. The ramen and broth was delicious, delicate and rich. My husband was also mesmerized by the Ramen. Now let's talk about these Wagyu sliders. My cousin didn't offer us any when he had them and NOW we understand why. Those things are PHENOMENAL. You get three of them in an order and you will want more! The gyoza were also a hit!!! I have never seen gyoza presented the was that Shinka plates them. Underneath the crispy topping (which also tastes delicious!) are some the most delightful tasting gyoza . I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you get a chance to visit the Chinatown area of New York City.
The beef ramen is very good and exactly what I want on a cold night. I would also recommend the crispy fries. The wings were average in my opinion but I really enjoyed the ramen with the fries. The place is nice and quiet. The service was good the server made sure we got what we wanted. I liked the ambiance in the restaurant and would like to return in the future.
It was fine! Serving sizes were large, service was good, but atmosphere was just okay. Food was pretty good—I went for the birria ramen which was pretty good but not amazing really. Tuna tartar taco was great though. It was a pretty small place, so reservations are probably a good idea if you do want to try it.
We came here for dinner, and I decided to try the bone marrow ramen. The broth was absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and perfectly thick. However, the noodles weren’t quite to my liking; I personally prefer thicker noodles that could complement the hearty broth better. The restaurant itself has a laid-back and cozy atmosphere, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy a comforting meal. Overall, it’s a solid ramen shop with unique offerings.
The ribs was very good. The nachos was from fried wonton skins which was very crispy and light and the toppings was a good match. We had the spicy tonkotsu ramen which was mildly spicy. The broth was good but didn’t need all the red oil on top that had no purpose. I removed as much as I could. The beef with marrow rant was delicious. Had a good dinner. Staff was friendly.
Takoyaki has 6 balls and had barely any octopus in it. Nicely crisp and good flavor but the insides were a bit gooey and very soft almost as if it were undercooked. We also got the Shinka Tonkotsu Ramen and Beef Bone Marrow Gyukotsu ramen. IMO the tonkotsu ramen was better, just more flavorful. The bone marrow just tasted salty 😐 FYI Shinka and Beer Garden share a kitchen downstairs so wait time was extremely long… they also are probably understaffed so wait time for food is even longer.
When I think of the effort it took for me to come here because I was intrigued by their acclaimed bone marrow ramen I'm filled with nothing but regret. The ramen was good, but it didnt wow me plus something about the brisket tasted a little stale or maybe it was the seasoning...Anyway decent broth and the bone marrow itself was tasty but I wouldn't go back for it which is a shame as I'malways on the hunt for a go to ramen spot. I had a mezcal drink that tasted so off I couldn't manage more than a sip. That was my experience with the food but it was the overall environment that left me uncomfortable. The restaurant was busy and handled by only one server. She was polite at times, but also abrupt — snapping “give me a sec” when I tried to ask for the drink menu. Then there was the table next to me. After their meal, the guests openly **rolled marijuana joints inside the restaurant**. Regardless of legality, that’s not appropriate in a dining space. When I mentioned it to the server as I was leaving, she dismissed it with “it’s legal here, mama,” repeating “mama” in a tone that felt unprofessional and unnecessary. The guests seemed to be familiar with her, which may explain the relaxed boundaries, but it didn’t make it comfortable for other customers. Good food, but the lack of professionalism and the tolerance of this kind of behavior make it difficult to fully enjoy the experience or recommend this place.
