They recently moved into a new location, make sure you put Duckweed Urban Grocery in google maps, it’s located inside this establishment. The food is fresh made, tastes delicious, reasonable prices and variety of vegan/vegetarian options. The owner is super friendly and attentive with the customers, making sure you feel comfortable. I will be coming back for sure and highly recommend this place. I got veggie korma and paneer tikka masala with mango lassi (one of the best I've ever had) dessert rasmalai, my son got butter chicken kids and also enjoyed the flavor! There’s also a pick up option available on their website if you’re short on time :)
My boyfriend and I were looking for an Indian restaurant that was responsibly priced and delicious of course ! We found this place and when arriving we thought “a gas station? How good could the food be?” But let me tell you the service we received and the food was so delicious! We got butter chicken and butter naan. So good ! The service we had was amazing! Everyone very friendly. Don’t be discouraged ! Try it ! We can’t wait to go back !
Why I gave five stars: The basics- The flavor of the food is above average. The value is good and in my experience they provide big portions for a very fair price in the market today. But really, why five? The place is clean and organized, which matters to me. More importantly, it’s clear that the manager cares about his customers. I’m an average 30-something white single guy who visited on a random Thursday evening when the restaurant was steady but not packed. I ordered my meal and said I’d like to enjoy the food onsite. When the food was ready the manager came to my table and had a conversation with me about anything I wanted to discuss really. I was informed of local attractions and he checked to ensure I had all that I needed for a nice evening out. It’s not often that I have such meaningful interactions in my everyday life. I will return and hope that anyone reading visits too. I recommend getting your gravy medium heat if you enjoy a little spice! Thumbs up.
We saw this place on uber eats and wanted to try it for a long time. I went with my friend recently and we tried a few indo Chinese items. I am a big momo fan and I have not liked them at most places till now because of the dip. But this place finally had the spicy dip that goes brilliantly with their chicken momos. Portion size was great too. Both me and my friend enjoyed the appetizer and the main meal of noodles and manchurian. We got the veg manchurian and it was amazing. Just the right sauce and taste. The manager was quite nice and friendly as well. The restaurant has good seating area so dining in and eating fresh is a good option as well. I highly recommend to everyone. We are looking forward to trying some new dishes next time.
We came and dined in and Wow! The service and food is SO Good. I mentioned that I can no longer eat my favorite dish because of an allergy and the chef custom made me the dish from scratch without my allergy. And it was Amazing. Will be back. We got samosas, palak paneer, egg fried rice, and garlic naan. I recommend everything.
The food was absolutely bursting with flavor! The gentleman at the front was incredibly kind and even offered a few delicious samples while I waited for my order. The cauliflower, veggie curry, and garbanzo curry were all outstanding—an explosion of rich, authentic flavors. Exceptional food and warm, welcoming service. Highly recommend!
They are so friendly!!! And the food is amazing. Good presentation! I got the chicken and lamb bowl with a side of garlic naan. The naan is legit, taste great with the mango lassi drink I got too.
SO good! I enjoyed my butter chicken and ordered garlic cheese naan which was to die for!! Service was polite and respectful. I also enjoyed the chicken samosa and it was very fresh. We were also given a complimentary tasting of two different curry dishes in addition to our meal. Wonderful experience.
Service was great! The curries were the best I've ever tried. My husband had chicken biriani, and I can't remember the name of what I got, but the lamb was so tender! We also bought some butter chicken curry to go

Wow 🤩 This place is so delicious. My husband picked up dinner here last minute and what a treat! He said they were so great and they offered samples, that he ended up buying! He said “ it made me realize I like cabbage”. The chicken masala was bangin. The rice was cooked perfectly! Such a great addition to DI!

The butter chicken is DELICIOUS and the portions are very generous. My son got the chicken korma (spicy) and chick peas and they were both delicious 🤤🤤🤤 And the NAAN!!!!!!!!! Garlic cheese naan was the best I ever had! 😋 The manager is so nice and friendly, and checked on us often. Can't wait to try some of the Chinese options.
This place is a great addition to the neighborhood and is likely to become our inc a week spot. The food is delicious with amazing depth of flavor. The portions are generous and the chef/owner is delightful. Make sure to put this on your list.
I stopped by to pick up some ice cream for my kids at a neighboring shop and the manager at Saffron Xpress offered me a sample of their butter chicken with basmati rice - my goodness it was delicious! My daughter who is the pickiest eater ever known also tried the sample and begged me to buy her a plate. I also tried the garlic naan, chicken and the veggie samosa- all delicious and super flavorful. Great, quality food and the manager was extremely helpful and kind - just the type of customer service that’s missing in several other businesses. I recommend Saffron Xpress and will be back.
Wow! New Davis Islands at Duckweed. Fabulous and I’ve never liked Indian food. Butter chicken melt in your mouth and the lamb chops phenomenal! Definitely a must try.
A Hidden Gem That Never Misses! This was our second visit to Saffron Xpress, and once again, the food was beyond our expectations. The flavors and quality are simply outstanding! On our first visit, we ordered the Jeera Rice, Butter Chicken, and Lamb Korma — each dish was packed with flavor. This time, we decided to switch it up with Kashmiri Rice, and let me tell you, you can’t go wrong with either one! The Garlic Cheese Naan was hot, soft, cheesy, and absolutely a 10/10. Beyond the amazing food, the service here truly stands out. The owner is incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely happy to serve. It’s rare to find a place where you feel so welcome and appreciated. If you haven’t tried Saffron Xpress yet, you’re missing out! Give it a try — you won’t regret it. Highly recommended!
This Indian place is in a gas station. It's a mini food court. I ordered take out from Saffron Cpress, although there are tables and chairs inside. The food is reasonably priced, the portions are fair sized, the peshwari naan is absolutely delicious. The owners are really helpful and will let you sample the food when possible. They're very happy to explain what's on the menu. It's such a convenient stop on my way home.
Really phenomenal Indian food- we got the korma, butter chicken, garlic naan and fries- truly the best Indian food we’ve had in Tampa, dishes ordered spicy were actually spicy AND flavorful, the korma was the perfect punch of sweet, spicy, tangy and creamy, our 6 year old devoured the rice and butter chicken. Can’t wait to come back! Note as of February 2026- the address wasn’t correct, ask your gps to take you to duckweed on Davis islands!
Hands down the best Indian food 🥘 in Tampa! And this is coming from a person who grew up between NY and LA with the best of the best food scene wise. Absolutely love the owner as well, beautiful and talented!!!
Been here twice and both times the food was excellent. The staff is very nice. They gave me some samples the first time I was there to give me a taste of their other meals. Can’t wait to try more stuff from here.
amazing experience from the time I walked to the counter until the time I left the food was outstanding. I got to sample literally it is as good as a fine sit down Indian restaurant. The owner.s Are very friendly and very personable and the Food I just can’t say enough I will be back
This place was surprisingly EXCELLENT!! Who would've thought that delicious authentic Indian food could reside at a lil ole gas station?!? The Daal is exceptional and the butter chicken also. It's FRESH MADE AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD. Please go support!

I am usually a HUGE fan of Indian food. I ordered food for myself and two others. Ordered $60 worth of food and the amount of food I received wasn’t enough for one. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala (16oz versus the 8oz) and when I say I got 5 pieces of chicken, next to NO sauce and the sauce and chicken was over the rice. Another plate I got was the Lamb Kabobs and they had no flavor and heat whatsoever. I was very disappointed and will NEVER spend my money here again. I’m new to the area and will be looking out of Riverview for better quality food and larger portions. I understand we’re in tough times economically, but that was straight robbery of my money and the food was mediocre. Only good thing was the Samosas but not for the price of what I paid. I rather have spent the $60 and attempted to make it home made. If I could have left zero stars I would have.
