Someone recommended Aliada to my husband and I and I'm so happy we went. We were going to a show in Queens and this was the perfect spot for dinner beforehand. The food was delicious and flavorful. The service was attentive but not overbearing and we the kitchen was fast so we were able to get to where we were going on time. We live on Eastern Long Island so it may be quite some time before we make it back here but I will definitely be thinking about that meal for a time.
Went last night with Two of my daughters. Everything about this place is really good. It starts when you enter the restaurant and greeted wonderfully. We ordered the halloumi cheese appetizer, including the watermelon salad, which was amazing. We also got the Bronzino and the Greek meatballs I think everybody should try this place. It’s a real Gem
My favorite place so far! I’m coming here with my family, and everyone always finds something they love. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the wine selection is truly impressive. For the price, you simply won’t find a better experience anywhere else.
The restaurant has excellent Greek food & the service was very accommodating
Had the best dining experience here. Vibe was impeccable. Their Greek salad and all grilled seafood were phenomenal! Even baklava, the best taste I ever tried. Absolutely the best place to go for the most excellent Greek food in our neighborhood. Great friendly service and ambiance. I can say that you can feel special and at home when you are there.
Arriving here presents unexpected possibilities. I left with a positive impression. Staff never kept us waiting and always showed respect. We liked what we ordered though we've had better elsewhere. I really cherished this restaurant and plan to return!
The ambiance here is so cozy and elegant, the food is incredible and service is genuine. Kostas made my New Year’s Eve lunch with my mother lovely, def coming back 🌷
I could eat their chicken souvlaki every day for the rest of my life and be completely satisfied. In all truthfulness, everything is amazing on the menu. Christian and team are friendly, attentive and create a great atmosphere. Make a reservation, they are busy for a reason.
Baked halloumi is delicious! Service is extremely kind and professional. A beautiful setting to enjoy food with a friend.
CYPRUS 🇨🇾 Eat the World NYC review: For its first 15 years of existence, Aliada blended into its Astoria block with a facade and color scheme that was much like the building it lived in: brown and subdued. Then in 2017 a fresh coat of Mediterranean white was splashed on both sides of the corner and somehow the restaurant showed more life. Of course for the Greek and Cypriot regulars who have been coming here since it opened in 2002, none of that mattered like the trusted food on the plates. Stepping into the modern, clean dining room feels right with slow Mediterranean vibes and calming Greek music, but touches of rustic make the place appealing and comfortable. Pottery, wood furniture and accents, baskets and framed island arts hung on the walls are enough to leave behind the rattling of the subway a block away. In Cyprus they also eat their fare share of the well-known souvlaki, charred skewers of meat that have always felt right at home in Astoria, but on top of their charcoal grills you are more likely to find larger cuts of meat that require lower heat and longer cooking times. These are referred to as souvla, and can be many types of meat. The most interesting of any souvla is the shieftalia ($21), a link wrapped with caul fat, the thin membrane found surrounding some internal organs. A few spices are thrown into the simple dish of minced pork, onions, and parsley.
This was such an incredible experience. Went around 6:30p on a Tuesday evening, no reservation and it was easy to get a table. The service was awesome and the food was even better. We started with the jumbo shrimp then tried the lamb chops and the meatballs. Each dish was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The prices aren’t horrible but I would only visit this place on special occasions as we spent about $115 (including tip) on three dishes, with no drinks or desserts. Would love to try the Chef’s Meze next time. Beautiful venue as well. Great experience.
The most amazing and welcoming restaurant in Astoria. The food is always excellent, fresh and original recipes of Greek and Cyprus cousine. The staff is simply amazing , friendly and welcoming, every single time. Family friendly which is so great. We go there with our 2 year old and we always have a blast. The atmosphere is simply gorgeous, the outside dinning area is so pretty as it is the indoor, super cozy and pretty. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. Well done Aliada 👏.
Had a blast here for dad’s 75th. Phenomenal food throughout — fish meze to meat to baklava. Service also top notch from impeccable hospitality of the manager, great guidance from the server and an incredibly attentive bus boy. Will be back! ~Nolan
Stopped by for dinner with my mother today. If I was able to give a 100 stars I would. I had their grilled octopus, lamb chops and the branzino. Everything was amazing and fresh! They were also very nice and packed some hummus to go for us. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
I been coming here for about 10 years. The food is delicious & the service is attentive & friendly, the restaurant is nice & clean. Over the years the prices have gone up more and more it’s a bit more on the more expensive side but it’s a good greek seafood place. I would definitely recommend going here & getting the Calamari & Lemon Potatoes. Good food!!
Some of the best Greek food I've had in NYC, much better than Milos and more affordable! I recommend the Mezedes fish option to get a nice variety of food, servings are plentiful (I eat alot but couldn't finish it all), there's also a meat variety if you don't want to go with fish. It was a bargain for dinner at $55 per person (min of 3 people), try getting that deal at Milos. Thank you Christian and the staff for a wonderful experience and a taste of Cypress, much appreciated!
Spectacular staff and scrumptious food! The manager, Christian, was very welcoming and friendly. Cozy, yet classy/romantic atmosphere. Perfect for dates or meeting friends and family. Best baklava I've had (and I've had plenty as it's my favorite dessert, haha)! Will definitely visit again! Thanks for everything, you all!
Stepping into this Greek restaurant felt like being whisked away to a sun-soaked taverna overlooking the Aegean Sea. The ambiance was both cozy and elegant, with white colors decor, reminiscent of the iconic Santorini landscapes. The menu was a celebration of authentic Greek flavors. Each dish, a plateful of Greek sunshine. The wine list boasted a fine selection of Hellenic vintages, pairing seamlessly with each dish. Ending the meal with a delicate baklava, drizzled in golden honey was a delightful nod to tradition. The staff exuded warm Hellenic hospitality, making the entire dining experience truly memorable. I'll certainly be returning to this gem of a restaurant to explore more of its culinary treasures.
We spent a week in Astoria visiting family and trying as many Greek restaurants as time would allow - hands down our favorite was Aliada on Broadway. The food was exquisite, authentic and cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself was so pretty and tastefully decorated and offered indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were polite, professional and all quite handsome. Spiros was an exceptional server. The owner/ manager was always on hand and kept things running smoothly. We really felt we were back in Greece. Five stars!
One of the best Greek food I had. The watermelon salad is a must try here along with the grilled octopus. One of my favorite from this restaurant. The Resturant is tiny and cozy. Our waiter George was amazing at recommending different items of the menu. Can’t wait to be back to try more things.
This Greek establishment it's well worth going to Astoria. Food is typical Greek with a slight Flair so to speak. Thier fried squash and fried zucchini chips are a must as an appetizer or an entree. The Greek salad is a nice size portion, I had a small and two could of eaten from it. Overall it was a great experience the staff was wonderful and it was moderately priced.
My husband and I along with our daughter had the pleasure of having dinner at Aliada last night and it was above and beyond what we were expecting! We have eaten at almost all of the best Greek restaurants there are in the New York area and I have to say the food and the service was among the best we ever had. Our server George was the absolute best, attentive and always a smile and even the owner took the time to come say hello and even sent us over an after dinner drink on the house. All I can say is... Bravo!! We ordered the Kopanisti spread along with the eggplant and zucchini chips, both were excellent! For dinner we all shared the Snapper along with a seafood platter that came with grilled salmon, shrimp and the best of all the Octopus. Do yourself a favor and make sure to order the grilled Octopus. Without a doubt the absolute best we've ever had!! Thank you Louie and George, we can't wait until we can visit again!
All of the servers and waiters were so warm, shout out to Kristian, who made me a wonderful Honey Bee cocktail! The taste was light and fragrant and instantly transported me into the middle of a flower garden. The moussaka was comfy and filling as well--it was my first time having Greek food and I was very impressed!
I've lived in Astoria for over a decade and Aliada is hands down by favorite spot for Greek food. Delicious meals, friendly and fun servers and great vibes - highly recommend the Kopanisti dip!
Went by at almost closing time, not intentionally. Even still they were welcoming. Service was good with emphasis on friendliness. Owners son who waited & visited with me, very nice young man. I ordered the baby lamb chops, delicious. They were a bit overdone but nothing worth complaining about. The potatoes we’re also delicious. Also enjoyed the fact they had a selection of Greek wines to go along with their cuisine. The ambience is that of which reminded me of the cafes in Greece. Definitely recommend.
Have lived in the neighborhood for years and finally checked this place out. Wish we had sooner. Went on Sunday night for dinner date and it was perfect! Food, ambiance, and service was great. Server recommended a nice glass of white wine that would go with my entree. We got the swordfish it was so delicious and the lemon potatoes with it. We also got the halloumi fries and some spreads to start. We will be back.
Great place for Greek food. The octopus was delicious. It was nicely cooked and has a naturally sweet taste to the octopus. The meat platter had a good sampling of the meats. Next time, i probably would get the fish instead. When it does get crowded, it's pretty hard to get the waiter's attention though.
Great food, vibe and service! My mom said this place has the best salad. I agree- awesome Greek salad. Fresh everything. Fish was done perfectly. We ordered side of mushrooms and they were amazing. My mom also said they had the best potatoes. Definitely going back here. I have been looking for a great sit-down Greek restaurant for years, and I finally found it. Thank you!
I’ve lived in Astoria for 4 years and Aliada is my favorite Greek restaurant. Everything is authentic (been to Greece 7 times) and the vibe is immaculate. I’ve never had something bad at Aliada and have gone many times. A great go-to for experiencing Greek cuisine in Astoria!
I’ve been coming to Aliada for at least 20 years , and this is only the restaurant where I can say that the food has never changed the taste and the quality of the food, on the contrary it has improved. The food is absolutely delicious, exquisite Greek food. I fully recommend getting the seafood Grill platter for two. It has grilled octopus, calamari, shrimps and salmon and on the side I recommend the lemon potatoes, absolutely exquisite!! I love everything about the restaurant especially the owner Loui 🤗
It's been so long since I had a meal in a restaurant that really blew me away, where every dish was delicious. This was it. Some of the best octopus I've had. Perfectly tender and beautiful delicate flavors to complement the fresh flavor. The dish with pasta, beschamel, and meat is similar to an Egyptian dish I love. This was the lightest version I've ever tasted! I could eat a trough of it. My family and I walked in a late, and everyone was so hospitable and lovely towards us. The space is beautiful in a way that's simple and welcoming. It's clever, and it makes you feel happier to be there. One of the best experiences I've had in a long time. I wish I lived closer to go more often. On top of everything, the prices are so reasonable that you can have a feast without bankrupting yourself. There are no photos because we were enjoying ourselves too much to even think of pulling a phone out.
The outside patio is great on a nice weather day. A lovely atmosphere with fairly good vegetation options Greek spot. We stopped for a quick lunch and had the mushroom dish, which was quite delicious. The baked feta was super flavorful. The pita and hummus were also very good. The pita was soft and spongy. We might come back and try their dinner menu.
The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The food was spectacular.. Try the Shrimp Santorini for a starter was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. My wife and son raved about the chicken kebab. I had the pork chop which was fantastic. Service was excellent . The restaurant was full and yet the wait for the food wasn't bad at all. Atmosphere is also nice .. warm cozy and inviting.. A definite must try.
Absolutely incredible experience. The food was phenomenal, the service was superb, and the atmosphere was just perfect. I took my fiancé here for her birthday dinner and she loved every minute of it. The portions are great. You must try their octopus, definitely my favorite item on the menu. Some pinot grigio with the swordfish and, grilled calamari...I'm just at a loss for words. Looking forward to coming back here! Top 3 best restaurants in NYC and I'll die on that hill.
Absolutely love this place. I had my birthday dinner with my girls here a few weeks ago and my experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff and owners are SO kind and welcoming, the atmosphere is pretty and cozy, and the food is delicious, with the menu having a variety of options. The night before I had gone to a big name restaurant with another set of friends, and it doesn’t even compare to Aliada, from the food to the hospitality. We didn’t feel rushed and we genuinely had a great, enjoyable, relaxed time. Can’t wait to come back!
Aliada has been cranking out delicious food for years. I love the baked lamb with lemon potatoes because the lamb is just perfectly cooked and the potatoes add some starch and acid to the dish that are great. It's also just a nice meal that makes you think of home. Gyro, gyro platter or anything you can put next to the delicious meat will work. The speads up front are great or the shrimp. The Greek sausage is something to try but if you aren't feeling adventurous just stay with the main dishes. There's a full bar and some great Greek wine that you can pair with any dish. Do not pass on this place when you are in Astoria Queens. It's some of the best food around for sure! ***** ( 🔥 🔥 🔥 ) *****
Excellent and authentic Greek/Cypriot cuisine. All our dishes were amazing. We got the royal dorada fish as a main that was perfection! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. As a Greek visiting NYC, this seemed like the best, classy and authentic Greek restaurant in Astoria. The only thing is there a 4% fee for using a credit card that was not mentioned anywhere.
Aliada is hands down the best Greek restaurant in Astoria. The ingredients are always fresh, the dishes are generous in size, and the flavors are authentic and delicious. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. It’s the perfect spot whether you’re in the mood for a casual meal or bringing friends for a night out. Consistently excellent — definitely a must-try in Astoria..
Aliada is a FANTASTIC & AUTHENTIC Greek restaurant in ASTORIA! We had such an amazing dinner here tonight. We shared the saganaki and horiataki for appetizers and both were very good. The dinners were even better. We had the swordfish, moussaka, and soutzoukakia for our dinners. The swordfish was OUTSTANDING! It was a fresh, generous perfectly chargrilled. The next best dish was the soutzoykakia which was absolutely DELICIOUS! The moussaka was also delicious but my personal favorite was the swordfish! We had the fries for our side that were out of this world! We could not stop eating them! They were nice and thin and had a great seasoning. We were disappointed that they had only one dessert which was baklava, but it was the best baklava we ever had! It tasted fresh out the oven, and had a perfect amount of honey I highly recommend Aliada in Astoria!
Loved the food! I came here with a reservation and somehow it was not as busy as other days, not my first time coming here, but theres a reason why! This place is very cozy ,a but small, but pretty good for a Mediterranean experience,I had the greek platter as an appetizer and it was delicious, also the chicken! Staff were always welcoming and friendly, hostess that night was also very patient and nice, since I was actually late for our reservation, coming back soon!
I decided to give 5⭐️ considering everything. Good food (4ish), great vibes, and nice staff. Luckily, food my friend and I ordered were all delicious than our expectations. In addition, huge portions. 🐟✨The whole fish was slightly pricy but worth a try. The day we went was also the day they just got the fish freshly, which made more sense to order. The smoke and grill smell nailed it with simple seasoning. 🍆✨❤️🔥The layered baby eggplant was a heavy one. But the taste was rich with juicy grounded meat inside. The cheese on the top also added additional flavors. Salad was pretty classic, but the add-on portion (we had gyro meat) was a lot! It was a little bit salty but still good. Complimentary pita and hummus was the only thing I have comments. It was kinda bland with the pure chickpea flavor, so did pita bread with flour taste.
I have gotten the mixed grill and the moussaka; both were excellent! The mixed grill was cooked to perfection. The moussaka was decadent! The food portions are great!
I’ve been wanting to dine here, and finally got the chance to go for dinner. They start with complimentary pita bread and chick pea dip, which was a light way to start. We got the Greek salad to start. The stuffed grape leaves were great, the acidity balanced great with the feta cheese and olives. For dinner, we weren’t too hungry and decided to split the Octopus Salad and P.E.I Mussels. For appetizers, they were a good size and filling. The muscles and octopus were very fresh, and the sauce the muscles were cooked in was also very light and had a pleasant wine flavor. I probably wouldn’t order the octopus again since it’s more of an octopus salad. That said, the octopus was tender and cooked well overall. I would like to come back and try more of their dishes. All the food was very light, fresh, and cooked well. My fiance is celiac and he was able to eat everything we tried but the pita bread (which is unfortunate because it was so good with the dip!)
Amazing cypress food with great outdoor seating. Will definitely be returning. Took my parents and wife and shared everything family style. We loved the complementary humus and pita. I had a great orange organic wine. The Quail, Bronzino, Grilled octopus and grilled squid were all great. My favorite was the Greek salad, lemon potatoes and the Lima beans. Everything from service, food and ambience were top notch. Coffee I wasn’t crazy about was a little light for me but the pastitsio was a great sharing size for 4. Honestly a really good meal that was a great experience for families and dates alike.
Aliada is a great restaurant. The food is delicious and authentic. Which means that you might have to wait a little longer than expected as everything is prepared fresh…which also means that you might have to wait for a table. All in all, a great option for dinner or brunch.
I’ve mixed feelings over the review. Our seating is excellent, and our server attentive. Food wise, it could be that it being a Sunday and / or they are without their usual chef, I don’t know. Our preferred option for whole fish, Fagri is not available, which leaves us with Sea bass and Dorado Royale. We opted for Dorado. The fish is firm / rather dry. Nonetheless it being the more expensive fish on our order, we finished it. The Santorini prawns is a let down. The fries / roasted vegetables side - give it a miss. We enjoyed the pita bread; the spreads are ok. I’ve read the other star reviews and thought that our experience could be a one-off, hence the 4-star instead of 3-star.
Came here for a late lunch, the restaurant was quite empty therefore we received a great service. Was sad I missed the cherry blossom - tables outside look amazing under cherry trees 🌸 Ordered a Greek salad and grilled octopus. Both were good. Though I was not a big fan of the complimentary hummus and pita bread, it was a bit too hard. Aliada is nicely decorated and plays a lovely Greek music.
Definitely enjoyed the meal here The meat and fish are quality The hummus was super good and you could tell was very fresh. I was a little surprised the hummus came with normal white bread and not pita bread. The chicken salad was great. I love when places cut up the salad into small pieces, it makes the salad much easier to eat. The place has a great atmosphere, especially now with outdoor seating. A decent amount of confusion with the staff on who was taking our order, we had three different people ask for our order. Not sure if it was because of new workers or what. Overall, it’s a nice authentic Cyprus meal and I would go back for sure.
$20 Horiatiki Salad - Sufficient flavor, underwhelming for the price though. $26 Chicken Kebab - Tender chicken, dried out fast. Great flavor. $18 Halloumi Fries - Nothing special, especially for the price. Skip. $26 Combination Platter - This is where you should keep focus on the menu. For proteins we chose Gyro (nice and crunchy edges) and Shieftalia (delightfully tasty) with veggies and the Oven Roasted Lemon Potatoes. Get these instead of fries. Great combination options, well-portioned, good food memories. Above meal shared with 3, no drinks, ~$100
Nice restaurant with great Greek food! Love the variety of starters they offer. Also the outdoor patio is really pretty-especially now with the blooming trees. You get hummus with pita bread as a complimentary! Awesome and so good! The only reason why I can’t give 5 stars is that the service is super slow. (Even though everyone is very friendly). We were a party of 3 and after 1.5 hours we got our entrees after two starters. After another 20 minutes (we were waiting to order dessert) the server came and said they don’t have any desserts left and brought the check. Would go back for the food but not for the service
We schlepped over to here during a snow squall, and while the food wasn't quite good enough to justify doing that again by choice, I'm not totally mad I did. The Shieftalia was succulent and tasty. And the 600g of roasted Branzino will satisfy even the most metrically challenged American in terms of tender fish and lemony flavor. Simple, unpretentious Greek/Cypriot fare without all the pricey bells and whistles one finds in Manhattan--THAT'S the reason to come to Astoria. Also that grilled pita and white bean dip is on point.
I’ve been coming here since they first opened probably. Love this place but don’t love the new credit card fees?! That makes zero sense and you asked me to tip on top of it?! The tip should be before and the credit card fee should be the same and not vary according to the bill. That’s a big NO NO for me. Lost one star and if you cannot explain this, you might have lost a loyal customer
The food was good. It just took forever. They only had one waiter waiting all the tables. The poor guy was making the drinks too. Why do you only staff one person?
Food was good, but they got my order completely wrong (ordered salmon, got chicken). They said they'd prepare the salmon and get it out asap... But rest of the party had finished their entrees and I still had no salmon. Expressed my displeasure, cancelled my order, got a "so sorry", but nothing else.
Food was good but portions were very small.. Waiter was no where to be seen, I have been to other Greek restaurants in that neighborhood and this is by far the last one rank. Overpriced for what is it and not the best in Astoria!
