It was very last minute that my husband and I decided to get a wedding cake for our civil ceremony, and this place was the first and top of his mind — absolutely no regrets about it! John, the owner who is always near the counter, took care of us with so much warmth and attention. The whole process was incredibly easy, stress-free, and honestly such a joy during an already busy wedding week. What made it even more special was that they were able to incorporate my own illustration into the cake design, and the result completely exceeded my expectations. It was personal, beautiful, and truly felt like us in cake form. Not only did it look stunning, it tasted amazing too — our guests loved it. This is such a lovely neighborhood gem — reliable, kind, and top-tier quality. I’m so grateful we trusted them with something so meaningful for our wedding day. Highly recommend for any special occasion!
Delicious! This bakery is a show stopper. Everything is arranged in an organized way. Your eyes can focus on the beauty of the desserts. They also sell vegan spinach pie. Beautiful outdoor seating area too.
What can I say about Omonia Cafe truly one of a kind. I’ve been coming here since the ’80s, through the ’90s, the 2000s, and still today, and every visit feels special. The food is excellent, the coffee is always on point, and the desserts are on another level a real paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth. The atmosphere, the music, and the staff all make you feel at home. Most importantly, my good friend John deserves recognition. He’s a true pioneer, a big part of Astoria history and so many great memories for everyone and for those of us who grew up coming here. Keep up the amazing work some places don’t just serve food, they create history. Mike
We go to Omonia Cafe not as much as we want but we moved from Queens to Long Island, so the trip is a little more challenging. But we still enjoy the Astoria location. A lot of yummy food.
We just visited for coffee and desert. American coffee and ice mocha were really delicious. We had an orange pie and Koke cake. Orange pie very sweet and moist. Koke cake was creamy not too sweet.
Some of the best food in New York. Wonderful atmosphere and the staff treats you like family. The drinks are top notch. The fires haloumi is perfect. Don't miss the opportunity to go in.

Such great vibes! 80s music, a spacious interior, a rare third space in NYC. Soccer playing in the background, a grand piano, in a Cheesecake Factory-like interior with lots of windows like a greenhouse. Everyone is so nice and friendly. As for the dessert: the baklava cheesecake was so good — the creamy cheesecake perfectly offsets the dense baklava. We also enjoyed the orange cake, very sweet but nice and moist. Didn’t get any food for a meal here. Seems like a great place to grab a drink too and just hang out with friends!
Came in for some drinks & dessert. I got a Lava Flow & tiramisu cheesecake, cousin got the mojito, & cousin's daughter got a chocolate martini & baklava. That cheesecake was amazing!!

Shop located in Brooklyn of a chain of Greek cafes in NYC. We've been there by chance during Memorial Day for a quick breakfast. A very long menu, with plenty of options. It took a while for the staff to note we were there - but the place was crowded due to the holiday. Food is good enough, and the place is simple, but all clean.
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and the desserts never disappoint! We got a cheesecake that was sooo good, and I also tried the flan. I wasn’t expecting the orange flavor, so it threw me off a bit, but it was still good. Overall, the desserts here are delicious, and I’d definitely recommend this place to everyone!

A large selection of cakes, but not the best quality. What disappointed me the most was that I ordered tres leches cake and received something completely different. The waitress didn’t warn me. I also don’t understand why the cake was given that name in the first place. A fruit cake has nothing to do with tres leches.
Went there on my birthday and had a slice of cheese cake. Unfortunately the base of it had egg shells and I had to spit it out, ruined my mood on my special day for only piece of cake I had.
Katerina was delightful. The entire serving staff was awesome. The place is beautiful and elegant. The music was a vibe. I enjoyed the atmosphere and service me than anything. I would go back to try the lunch or dinner options.
The tiramisu and the tea were delicious! Love this place but the service is not as good. Kept searching for the waiter and felt a little sad because he gave us an attitude and seemed annoyed when asking for tea recommendations. We wanted to keep ordering but he never came around to check on us...the fastest service happened when we had to pay. The 3 stars are for the dessert and tea.
I stopped by Omonia Café around 10 PM a few weeks ago, and honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. The food is more Greek-inspired American fare, with big portions, but nothing particularly memorable or standout in flavor. The real issue, though, was the service. We get that it was late and the staff probably had a long day, but being completely ignored in a restaurant is rough. We had to literally stare down the staff just to get basic attention; they were deep in conversation while we waited over five minutes each time we needed something. We were basically neglected the whole 40 minutes, even when we tried to ask for a check It’s a shame — the place has a good vibes and location, but service like that really kills the vibe.

This place has to just be getting by on nostalgia-based goodwill, because it certainly can’t be from the quality of the service, atmosphere, or food. For starters, it is filthy. There’s just a thick layer of dust and/or grime on every surface. When we asked for napkins after our food came, we were treated like *we* were the uncivilized or crazy ones for asking, instead of them being weird for not serving food the way humans usually eat it. They slapped an absurdly gigantic pile on the table and sneered, “HERE’S your napkins!” Uh, okay? Then there was the guy sitting alone at a table near us engaging in extremely antisocial behavior. When we finally asked a server if they could request he tone things down a bit, all of the floor staff had this panicked-looking whisper conference by the register and finally sent someone over to say something. The guy didn’t stop being completely obnoxious — he just added in giving me the evil eye. So, obviously, since we weren’t enjoying our stale pastries anyway, we paid our bill and got out of there. Turns out that guy is the boss! Even though they were snotty, I feel bad for the wait staff working for a person like that. They’re clearly scared of him. I guess if you’re not one of his 30+ year patrons, your money can’t be green enough for this guy. Luckily for everyone else in Astoria, there are approximately 40 bakeries on every block you can go to instead of this one.
3 of us went in for a dessert and coffee after dinner nearby. The pastries were stale and the coffee was mid at best. Worst part was an older man sitting by himself nearby was playing videos on his phone at full volume. I asked the staff to request he turn his volume down. Guy turns off the video but then immediately calls someone on his speakerphone at full volume clearly out of spite. Since the food isn’t good anyway we leave it mostly uneaten and pay the $45 bill (for 3 pastries and 2 coffees). Turns out this guy is the manager. Never again will we go there. Had good memories of this place from years ago which is too bad. There are so many good bakeries and cafes in the area. Don’t give this place your money.
The cashier was very rude and provided poor service. I asked to replace the cake with a different one, but they misunderstood and charged me for two cakes. When I requested a refund, the cashier said she would process it and asked me to wait. Later, another staff member came and said a refund was not possible. In the end, I was supposed to receive a refund of $15.99 plus tax, but I was only refunded $15.
Super dry and brittle. Looked amazing but tasted dry. And the lady upfront gave me a chocolate one instead of a raspberry. Very disappointed. I have been coming here for 10 years plus and this felt terrible especially since it’s Christmas time. Baked goods should be fresh.
When I first walked in, I was confused why there are two stores right next to each other—hence - focus on one store ..Then I noticed how outdated and dirty the place looked, which was already disappointing. But since I was excited to be back in Astoria, I wanted to stop at one of my old favorite spots and pick up a cake to take home. To my shock, when I opened the box later, the cake had mold on it. Absolutely unacceptable. This was such a letdown. I used to love coming here, but this experience was beyond disappointing. Please, get it together.
