Some of the best Chinese food we have had! We got the hand pulled noodles and dumplings all was delicious
My bad, judged a book by the cover. Thought the gimmicky name would entail Americanized Chinese Food (e.g. Panda Express) but no… THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC AND AUTHENTIC!! Ordered all the Taiwanese staples from pickled cucumbers and pig ears for appetizers, to Crab XLBs (ordered doubled the suggested amount because they were so delicate and delicious) to beef noodle (hand shaved!, like I was back in Gao Shong) soup for the main. Service was good too. Will definitely return.
All elements worked together for a great evening. The employees showed kindness in every interaction. Their plate presentation includes good amounts. Each plate seemed better than we thought possible after the last. Give this place a fair chance – it succeeds.
When I was attended quickly, though I did come after the lunch rush. The prices were reasonable for the type of choices and the location(finance district). I had soup dumplings and a bubble tea. Since it was a 20-min wait for the freshly made dumplings, I was given the bubble tea in a convenient to-go cup, which the drink was very good. Once the Dumplings came out, they were hot and tasty.
Cannot recommend the food enough here (hence the 5 stars) although the ambiance and service is just fine. Very authentic noodle soups.
Delicious discovery! The soup dumplings were really good. Also their shanghai pan fried buns were some of my favorite that I’ve ever eaten. The wait staff is casual. The price is a little higher than Chinatown but given the location, it makes sense. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend!
Very full but quite delicious! The fried noodle with sausage was well seasoned, the soup dumpling was tasty as expected, the chocolate dumpling was addictive, and the red bean bun was moist and nice. The matcha bubble tea was matchaey and great as well. Perhaps the scallion pancake with beef was too saucy and the sticky rice shaomai was a tad bland, but it was overall a great meal.
If you want to dine in just know the place Is very tight and small so there might be a wait but it’s so worth the wait. I think it best to dine in so your food would be nice and HOT!! THEY HAVE THE BEST DUCK RAMEN!!! I love their ramen I love their ramen !!!!!! GO KUNG FU STEAMED BUN BEST FOOD EVER 😍😍😍😍
Best Chinese food I’ve had in a while, incredible value for the quality. Well deserved Michelin star - duck buns and beef scallion pancakes were incredible !!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Had soup dumplings here on my last visit to NYC in 2019 and I've been searching for them at other restaurants to no avail. I was just talking about them the week before. On a trip to NE, we decided we had to stop in NYC since we were driving so closely by. Lucked out and got a parking spot on the next block. They were as good as I remembered. Can't wait for another trip to the city to get them again.
It’s a very small restaurant! Expect to sit elbow to elbow with complete strangers. That being said, it’s delicious food! They seriously know what they are doing. The steamed buns and dumplings, scallion pancake…all of it was amazing. Served hot and fresh. Place is clean-ish. Easy location before Broadway shows that’s local and delightful, not a chain.
Wow! Food was absolutely amazing. So fresh and delicious. Highly recommended and worth the wait. Beef ramen was wonderful and the pork dumplings were a hand-made delight. So awesome letting my kid try real, fresh ramen! Lots of options on the menu and if you order to go, the bags are amazingly insulated to keep your food fresh and warm!! Impressed all around.
This is one of my favorite restaurants to get lunch or dinner on workdays! No.1 recommendation is Fish Mala Tang, super large portion for the price, and it contains a lot of veggies that make it a balanced meal. I also really like the steamed pork buns (soup dumplings), they are freshly made, and you can see this in through the kitchen windows. The dumpling skin is fairly thin, and the meat inside is very tasty. Finally, I really like the noodle dishes, especially beef noodles - the beef you can tell was cooked for many hours, so very tender, and is very well seasoned. The noodles are well cooked, and is not hard to chew at all. All in all, would definitely recommend coming here for a quick meal during the work week - service is usually pretty quick and friendly.
I've done takeout and eat in here, and the food is INCREDIBLE! When you first step into this tiny treasure, you will probably have to wait for a table. It doesn't seat that many, and the tables are right next to each other, so get comfy with your neighbor! BUT... it's worth the wait and tight quarters. The food is perfectly prepared and absolutely bursting with flavor. From the dumplings down to the stir-fried noodles, take a tour of sauces and textures that will delite your senses. The only thing I was a little disappointed with were the duck buns. I wanted more duck, but I will say the sauce and texture of them were delightful. The baby bok choy was delicious and al dente, not soggy. I love scallion pancakes with beef, and these did not disappoint. The stir-fried noodles, though, are my favorite. I've had the shrimp and the original. Go with the house special. You get beef, shrimp, and a hard-boiled egg. It's the feel-good food you didn't know you needed... until you do. The prices are also very reasonable. A friend and I went and ended up sharing several dishes and desserts. I also got a coconut milk green tea, and it was around $34 each for a lot of food. So much food, I couldn't eat my second taro puff, which was a shame because it was delicious! The light, crispy texture of the outer puff pastry mixed with the warm chewy, gooey lightly sweet goodness on the inside and just a small amount of sesame seeds on the outside for a little crunch made this the perfect end to a perfect meal. So, instead of ruining it by taking it home, I gave the extra to our neighbors, who were sitting inches away, and found out they were on their honeymoon from Australia. It's great to make new friends. They even came to my show a few days later! Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns Ramen... making great food and making new friendships!
The place is kind of hidden within midtown but so worth the visit. I got the Pork Rib Noodles and 10/10; tons of food for a decent price. Also tried the beef scallion pancake and that was so delicious as well. Would recommend for lunch or dinner.
Another favorite midtown east lunch spot for many workers in the area. I had lunch here a couple of days ago with a colleague and we were seated immediately. If you're here, I recommend starting off with a soup dumplings appetizer. My colleague and I shared the crab and pork dumplings and they were AMAZING. I then has the beef mala pot whereas my colleague has the stir fried noodles/ramen. The food here definitely hit the spot. Pro-tip: The mala pots are ENORMOUS! I couldn't finish it but you can always take the rest home with you.
The Buns were outstanding. The deep fried Chinese carrot dumplings were extremely good. The ingredients are different from what we have tasted in Canada. The standard is even higher than Vancouver and Toronto. I would recommend this tiny restaurant in Manhattan for everyone to try. If I have the chance to visit New York again, I will go there to try other dishes.
Visited this location on a Saturday @ noon, had family in town and they didn't want to make the trek downtown after a long flight. It wasn't busy and very clean. The dumplings are legit, very tasty, larger than normal and soupy. The wrapper is a little more delicate than you would have at Joe Shanghai so we had a few casualties with broken wrapper and leaked soup. I was most impressed by the scallion pancake with beef. Almost a Peking duck like experience. Very tasty. Thumbs up for this combo. The pan fried pork dumpling was also very good. Had these at other places and they tend to be very dry, they had it just right, moist bun and the inside retained the soup as well. Quite a treat.
Didn‘t take pictures as we dove right in. Gush, the buns were amazing! Steam frie great too. Loved the handpulled noodles 🤤 but damn, gotta come back for those delicsiously fine lookin dumplings
My friend and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat and we were not disappointed. The service was fairly quick and the food was delicious. We tried the steamed pork dumplings and the duck buns as well. Both tasted excellent. We also tried the honey green tea and that was the perfect choice of drink! I would highly recommend this place as they are attentive and quick.
This is a Michelin Bib recognized Chinese restaurant. They don't really do Ramen, but Chinese sliced noodle, la mian. It reminds me more of Taiwanese Beef noodle soup. The Michelin recommended dimsums and xiao long bao are excellent and don't skimp on the ingredients. I recommend the wonton soup which has a lot of full sized wontons in a made from scratch broth with nori, cilantro and baby bok choy (I think). The receptionist was a little grouchy but I guess she was really busy but we were rushing for our play. They add a 15% service charge in lieu of a tip. Great spot.
Knife/Handcut noodles always. Made the mistake of not asking for the modification for my beef Noodle soup and sadly got soggy underflavored chinese spaghetti. My favorite dish has to be the shanghai fried buns which had plenty of flavor, juices, and dough to hold it all together. The cucumber is crispy and seasoned with just salt and sesame oil, made me wanting some garlic or perhaps vinegar to give it more character. But still, refreshing and a good palate cleanser from the oily heavier entrees. Overall, would come back again and recommend!
This place has great homemade noodles. You can see them make it at the back of the restaurant. Their steamed soup dumplings are a definitely a must try. The texture of the dumpling is perfect and the filling tastes great. They add a 15% service charge to your bill, but that is only because they have a friendly attentive staff.
The steamed dumplings are large, tender and juicy - so good. The ramens are large and steamy! Great value and friendly staff.
Best soup dumplings I have ever had! I highly recommend this place to any visitor looking for a casual but delicious meal, and if you are a local New Yorker who has not tried this place, you are missing out! We had their scallion pancake, beef ramon with their hand made noodles, and egg rolls, everything we had was fantastic. The best and simply MUST try items by far are their dumplings and the pan fried peking duck buns, enjoy!
This place is amazing. Great food and service. The outside might seem like every other shops in the area, but the food was definitely worth the visit. They also have beautiful decorations on the inside. I would highly recommend people to come here and give this establishment a try. I also hadn’t realized they were Michelin guide until I visited this restaurant. My favorite dishes were the pan-fried baos (they were so juicy and crispy) and the stir-fry beef noodles (handcut). The noodles had so much flavor yet it was so simple. The handcut noodles were worth the extra $1.
I have eaten at the Kung Fu buns and ramen locations many times, always amazing. 生煎包 and 烤鸭包 are the best! This most recent time, I placed an order for takeout ... But at the wrong location. I had accidentally placed an order at the 55th St location rather than the 8th Ave location (both amazing). The manager kindly let me not pay for my order even after I had offered. Thank you for your understanding and kindness -- I will be a customer for life. Happy holidays!
Food: I ordered beef noodle soup and steamed pork buns for lunch takeout. The flavor of the beef noodle soup is great!! I didn't expect much so it's a nice surprise how flavorful it is with a generous amount of beef and a marinated egg. The steamed pork buns are very juicy in a decent size. The takeout boxes are also a highlight. It separated each bun so it won't stick to each other. Service: the staff at the door gave me my food really quickly. Vibe: it's a good local spot for a quick meal.
incredible food, great service, and awesome location. stopped by this little restaurant after a comedy show down the road. they were able to seat my party of 2 right away. We ordered the pan fried duck buns, pork soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and the house special stir fried hand cut noodles. everything is absolutely cooked to perfection and delicious I highly recommend. Support your local businesses❤️
Great food! We had 4 specialties: chicken hand cut noodles, pork steamed soup dumplings, scallion pancake with sliced beef & taro puffs! Everything was wonderful! Try this place… you will not be disappointed!!
Nice little restaurant that you might have to share your table with other guests. Although, it’s well worth! The xiao long bao was juicy and full of flavors. Wonton soup is also very good—boy choy was cooked perfectly and the dumplings are huge and yummy. Another thing I like was fried Peking duck steamed buns. They are not stingy with the filling and also not trying to cheat customers with ridiculous amount of dough. Definitely want to come back and would recommend to anyone
If you want to taste traditional Chinese food, rich in flavors, this restaurant will happily help you with that. We tried scallion pancakes with sliced beef, steamed and pan fried pork dumplings, noodle soup with beef bone broth and steamed buns with mushrooms and bok choy. The list looks comprehensive enough, and it was - we left some of the soup as all other dishes were quite tasty and not easy to leave behind. The place is spacious enough, clean, and the staff is courteous and patient (particularly when explaining). The prices are very reasonable - great value for the money.
Excellent hand pulled noodles. Great texture on the noodles and a decent portion as well for the price and the broth was excellent as well. Highly recommend and lots of flavours to choose from as well so something for everyone. The scallion pancake was decent but the sauce was a bit overwhelming and I would not get this again despite it being "Michelin Recommend". The pumpkin mochi dessert balls were outstanding. Not too sweet and very well balanced. This was a surprise standout.
The soup dumpling was a waste of money to be honest. Was was that exactly? Dumplings filled wity soup? I was expecting a meat filling. The duck filled buns had little to no duck. Pork fried dumplings were good and the pork buns were also decent in taste and quantity. Overall an average experience!
Food is generally flavorful and not too heavy. Not crowded on a weekend evening. House Special Noodles - tastes silky and bouncy. Not too heavy on the sauce, and not too floury. A winner. Shrimp fried rice - prawns were bouncy. Rice was cooked well, each grain was separated. The seasoning with the dash of pepper was also on point. Pork xiao long bao - dough is a bit too thick. Flavor is good. You tiao - tastes okay. Peking Duck Bun - decent. Buns are a tad sweet. Duck meat is mashed up. Hard to catch a waitstaff, though the restaurant is not busy. Service is okay. Prices are pretty high for what it is, and the portions are also not very large. Knocked stars off for atmosphere as there was a very overwhelming smell of stale oil when I first entered the restaurant. Only got used to it after 30 minutes.
I came here for dinner with friends. We all enjoyed the meal. For starters we all shared the Steamed Pork Buns and Marinated Pig Ears. The buns were delish, we all enjoyed the rich broth inside of each bun and the pig ears were chewy from the cartilage and pretty tasty. After the starters I had the Roast Duck Ramen and my friends each had a Cold Sesame Ramen. They were both delicious and we were very happy with the quality of the noodles and the broth used. However in my opinion the ramen portion was a little smaller than I would like. Overall, I could see myself coming back here.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and it was a pleasant experience. I ordered vegetable mala tang with vegetarian broth. (You must request it. Otherwise, the default is meat broth.) The food was fresh but was a little blend. My partner ordered vegetable mala mix. It was quite spicy and sour (flavor of Chinese brown vinegar). Steamed vegetable dumplings were chewy and filling.
Feeling like some dumpling after work, I searched on google map and found this place is the closest one offering dumplings and other dishes I like so my husband and I decided to give them a try. Once we got to the place, around 6.15 pm, the place is very quiet, with only a couple of customers. Normally, my husband will hesitate to go into a place that empty, but since I did my study and insisted in having dumpling here, he had no choice but to give it a try. We ordered Steam Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, Scallion Pancake with Beef and, for me, I got Beef Mala Pot. The food came out very quick. I decided to try pan fried pork dumpling first. It looked very doughy. In order to taste the real flavor, no sauce added, I was amazed by how well seasoned the dumpling is and it was not doughy as its look at all. I then tried the Beef Mala Pot, which was like assorted wok from Hot Kitchen. This dish was not bad but I have to admit that Hot Kitchen did better for this dish. The rest of the dishes were very well seasoned. Love every dish and I can’t believe I have been working in the area and never tried them. Will definitely spread the word to my colleagues. Forgot to mention that while we were dining, there were more and more people start coming in....it was a good sign that we made the right choice for dinner tonight. Also, the bill already include 15% service charge. To me that’s a bit too low for the waitstaff, so I topped up to 20%.
Food was good and tasty, but one star point off because it could have been a lot better if servers had been more helpful when deciding or explaining the menu. We ordered mapa tofu, eggplant in garlic sauce, and beef mala soup. We wanted to add a dum sum plate. We weren't sure what to choose and asking questions but the server was zero helpful. We said we wanted something steamed, not fried, but after getting no help, we gambled and pick something. It was fine and tasty, but it was something like sesami ball (but taro inside), which was a dessert plate, something that we didn't want.... Server is not just someone who just takes the order from us and relays to the kitchen. If that's all servers do, there should be no tip. PLUS, rice is not included for the entree, so we had to order separately, which added more, so at first the price was reasonable, but it was not. For the record, we paid over $75 (including tip and taxes) for 3 people.
Very simple but delicious, recommended by a chef friend. Soup dumplings are perfect but take a lot of time to prep. The hand pulled noodles are superb, you need to make sure to specify that you want them, otherwise you get hand cut (which are good but are basic lo mein style noodles). Ramen broth is amazing, but very cilantro heavy so if you don’t like cilantro, avoid it! Service was fine, atmosphere wasn’t anything special. Would totally go back.
The portion sizes are large, which is uncommon these days—especially with high inflation. We went on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t have to wait in line. The restaurant is spacious, and the atmosphere is nice. As for the food, the portions are generous, so there’s no need to order too many dishes. The flavor is pretty good as well.
noodles and rose milk tea are good! Good for family style and sharing to try more items :) friendly staff, we came here on Saturday night for dinner and got seats quickly for 10, soup dumplings are decent too. Chill vibes and convenient spot near the hugh, we stopped by after board game days.
Was craving noodle soup last night while in the area so popped in when I saw that they had beef noodle soup on the menu. It's a super unassuming restaurant, but hands down, one of my favorite beef noodle soups in the city (and I've had a lot)! Quick service, very few diners but as expected for a holiday monday evening.
[UBER EATS ORDER] - Dumplings were alright, very doughy. Wish there was a bit more umph to them. The sauce was literally vinegar and soya, did not feel super inventive - the assorted family pack of dumplings were better than the plain pork ones (those were less exciting) - scallion pancake was dry / oily, maybe that’s how it’s meant to be - The boba had very very very hard tapioca. I was not a huge fan They may be better in person. 12 dumplings, boba, scallion pancakes were ~$45-55 which felt high for me (granted some uber fees)
Tucked away in the heart of Manhattan, Kung Fu Steamed Bun Ramen serves up some seriously satisfying Chinese comfort food. Having received Michelin recognition in 2018, expectations were high-and they didn't disappoint! / Little Steamed Buns - The delicate, thin skin held a rich, savory soup that burst out upon the first bite. A must-try for soup dumpling lovers! Stir-Fried Hand-Cut Noodles with Beef - The wok hei (that amazing smoky stir-fry aroma) was spot on, but the dish leaned a bit salty for my taste. Still, the texture of the hand-cut noodles was excellent. Shrimp & Pork Dumpling Soup - My personal favorite! The dumplings were generously sized, with tender, juicy filling swimming in a flavourful broth. Pure comfort in a bowl! Sticky Rice Balls in Sweet Rice Soup - A warm, hearty way to end the meal. The chewy rice balls, filled with fragrant black sesame, added the perfect touch of sweetness. If you're craving authentic Chinese flavours with solid execution, this spot is definitely worth a visit. What's your go-to dish when eating Chinese? Let me know in the comments.
The dumplings were simply steamed hot pockets for folks that know what hot pockets are. The pork dumpling was a hot mess and basically a meatball packed inside. Shame that it wasn't any better. The steam buns were less tasty since they had a vegetable medley of broccoli inside. Not much flavor nor worth the price of admission. Too bad for them. Hopefully the cooks taste the food before serving it to the public and make adjustments. Not going back!
BEWARE! They automatically charge a 15% gratuity onto your bill (we were a group of two by the bathroom bar) and will still ask for TIP when you sign - so pay attention. The hand-cut noodle is ok but it lacks flavor. The cold stripes is dangerously bad - they somehow made the famous Chinese spicy dish tasteless and overpriced. The soup dumplings, however, is decent. I’d order that to go.
Sorry this place was not good. Does that chicken ramen look good? Broth was basically water, chicken was almost clear and chewy, noodles were just okay. After. 3 bites I moved the dish to side. I also tried the veggie dumplings, also a disappointment…did not finish these either. In the end spent about $30 and left hungry
The staff is the rudest I have ever encountered. The hostess yelled at me for sitting on the side to wait for my take out. I showed her my vaccination card and yet she continued to yell that I took a seat. The entire restaurant was empty. This is not customer service but harassment. And then I notice that the restaurant has a B rating for its sanitary inspection. Not surprising.
Waiting 25 minutes for a pickup order that was allegedly done at the time I arrived. Madness in the restaurant. Nobody helping or caring. Lots of stressed people including customers.
First and foremost, I did not get the dumplings so maybe those are amazing I don't know. But I went yesterday for lunch. The place smelled kind of weird. There was a single person waiting on all the tables inside and the service was SLOW. The food was not great even for a little hole in the wall takeout joint, and I expect more from a sit-down place. The "stir fried" ramen was cheap, overcooked lo mein that was definitely not stir fried but microwaved. Never before have I had a stir fried dish that was lukewarm in some places and kind of cold in the others, generally they are pretty friggin hot. No wok flavor. They didn't even mix the meat and veggies in well, like at least try to hide the fact that you microwaved this. In the middle of Manhattan, there is no reason to deal with any of these things. There are better Chinese places on the same block.
10/17/25, I will never return to this place. I bought steam buns, they said 15-20mins, so I returned, walked to the back to collect the order, but it wasnt ready, so i decided to sit a table while the order was still being prepared. The waitress said that i can't sit by the table.....so i understand the back tables, i probably can't site cause it's for 4 people, but the front has single tables, she insisted that I sit in the bench! What nonsense is that? Im not begging you people....I collected the food, threw it in the garbage!!!! If your food is taking long to make!!!!! Have some decency to allow your customers to sit at a single table! Offer them some water, something.......I guarantee if another fair ethnicity walked it, it would be no issues!!! Better not add any tips....I saved my receipt!!! The place is empty....nonsense, I would never bother eating at this place.....so I told her....I changed my mind, I would dine in......she brought the food in a bag........instead of a plate!!!!! I threw it in the garbage! Only because I do not like eating food with those vibes!!!! Nah nah nah I'm good! The guy seems friendly, but the girl, I don't like her!
