One of my favorite bars in NYC. Lots of Belgian beers on tap and many other bottled. Good wine selection too. They also have talent back in the kitchen. If you like mussels don't miss the all-you-can-eat mussels frites deals on Sunday and Mondays - many great preparations. The only downside is that this place gets a bit crowded (for me) - I just wish it was a bit more low-key - but I'm happy they are successful and I just go in the early evening if I want to be there when it's less busy.

Great place for drinks and Moules Frites. Gets busy and crowded a quickly. Most of the staff speaks french. Great selection of Belgian beers that you really cant get anywhere else.

Absolutely love this place. Waitresses are charming and the food is phenomenal. The mussels are hands down amazing. I love going here and will continue to do so for a very long time.

Came here on a Friday night around 9PM and the place was packed but accommodating. They manager got us a table under 5 minutes and the wait staff was attentive! We got: - The burger with fries and cheddar: pretty run of the mill. It was good but didn't blow my socks off. - Mussels with fries one in Thai curry and one in Belgian beer. I preferred the beer. - Pasta with cream sauce and bacon: Although I loved this at first, after a few bites it got really heavy. I can't imagine eating this entire dish myself. - Fried calamari: basically what you'd expect Notables: - Bathroom was clean - Staff nice - Complimentary bread was good, we got some refrigerated butter so it was a little too hard to spread, take advantage of the candles on the tables and hold the butter (package opened) over the candles for a little and VOILA! melted butter.

Being Belgian, this is a restaurant that I visit when in NYC. The food has always been good and the service too. Love the croquettes aux crevettes, mussels, French fries, Chicon au Gratin, steak tartare and deserts. The beer selection is wonderful. The place is a gathering spot for young people and it is rather noisy especially on the bar side.

Great for brunch. Dinner food is also excellent, though it gets very noisy with the after work bar crowd. The mussels are great and they serve Gulden Draak on tap, my favorite.

I usually come here for all you can eat mussels on Monday nights. It's $22 for unlimited mussels, plate of fries, and a Stella. They have many different kinds of broth, my favorite is the Thai one.

Food is hit or miss, but the vibe is lively and the drink list is nice. I recommend the fries, mussels and calamari. Live music Saturday nights, and all you can eat mussels on Sunday/Monday nights!

VERY good- family of four ate for less than $80. The only complaint would be asked for medium burger and it was medium well.. BEST FRENCH FRIES I've ever had and that is not an exaggeration !!

Decent food, so-so draft beer selection and spotty service (some of the waitresses are friendly and attentive while others you have to hunt down everytime you want to order). I would suggest a reservation if you want a table after work.

A just-fine spot for mussels and a quiet back room and beer bottles. It's not a slam dunk, but, like a handful of other passable restos in midtown east, it's good for the neighborhood. I would return [if my guest didn't want to go to Sakagura]. If you're a beer person, this place will make you way happier than any place within 10 blocks. I was thrilled to get a bottle of Rodenbach, my favorite Flemish sour, and follow it with Allagash White, which tastes way clovier from a bottle than the last few times I've gotten it on tap. If you're a mussels person, BXL will probably be within the 50-25% best mussels you've had. The top ones were a little dry, but the broth definitely merits dunking. Service was great, and the table had plenty of elbow room.

BXL East is a cool Belgian beer hall in Midtown East. There are plenty of Belgian beers on tap like Duvel. There's a moules and frites order for $18 that comes with a large pot of mussels. You pick one of the sauces from the menu. Indoor area is spacious, lots of seating at and around the bar and many tables that seat 6 people. Few tables in the back. Ambiance is very dimly lit at night time. Would be nice if the bar had an outdoor patio space.

While the food has typical Belgium mussels and fries which are nice; the live band made a conversation, even while seated on the other side of the restaurant, impossible, this at 8 pm is unacceptable. The bar only serves beers and a few wines, no cocktails.

We walked out after arriving at 6pm and nobody even asked if we wanted a drink or starter for 30min. When the table next to us got their drinks we politely finally said excuse me to get Jenny the server's attention and she snapped back barking "I heard you!" We told her that was rude and left. Who knows what she could of done to our drinks and dinner after that point! Never again!
