Opinions de Marufuku Ramen Broadway
We arrived around 6:30pm on a Wednesday and was told we would be seated within 30 mins, which was to be expected during dinner time. The inside was packed with every table full, making it quite loud, but not too much that you couldn’t have a conversation with your table. Staff was quick and attentive. Fun fact: you can ask for a bib so you don’t splash yourself when you eat. The ramen broth was rich and flavorful. The egg was cooked pretty well too, the yolk was still runny and the whites weren’t too soft. The meat was tender, able to pull apart with the chopsticks. The takoyaki was also very good and tasty as well. Not too soggy, but still crisp and creamy on the inside. Overall this was a good experience and would come again, but perhaps a bit earlier to avoid the dinner rush.
I visited Japantown specifically because I was craving ramen, and it delivered on my expectations. I opted for the Chicken Patai in spicy, and it was incredibly flavorful. The egg was cooked to perfection. Despite being a busy Saturday, the staff was friendly and efficient. I’m excited to try their Oakland location, which is a bit closer to me. Would highly recommend!!
Marufuku Ramen SF absolutely delivers! The tonkotsu broth is rich and silky, the noodles have that perfect bite, and the chashu melts in your mouth. Even when the place is busy, the staff is friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The karaage chicken is a must‑order side, and portions are generous enough to leave you satisfied but wanting to come back. Easily one of the better ramen spots in San Francisco!
Always packed and for good reason. This tonkatsu ramen is fantastic on a cold SF day. The service is amazing. Everyone is very attentive and the food comes out very quickly to keep the turnaround fast.
Excellent service, super busy and we did not wait. Ramen is excellent. Server was very happy to help me manage the menu - I wanted less noodles and more veg. The only negative is it’s noisy. But that’s because it’s so popular. Located upstairs inside the Japan town mall.
Trust Me: Join the WAITLIST on Google Maps before heading OVER!!! Marufuku Ramen at the Japan Center is outstanding. The Japan Center itself feels like a small pocket of Japan, and walking in to a warm “irasshaimase!” instantly sets the tone. The ramen is perfectly cooked, deeply comforting, and genuinely transporting — one of those Ratatouille-level bites that takes you somewhere else. We waited almost 30 minutes to be seated and it was totally worth it — pro tip: check in or join the waitlist on Google Maps before heading over.. 🇯🇵🍜🍜🍜🍜🧾🧾🧾
I’ve heard about this place for a while and finally had the unexpected opportunity on Christmas Eve. A friend and I decided to meet at Japantown for dinner. We walked around and I remembered this place. We decided to eat here. We didn’t even have to wait 5 mins and we were called to our table! Our waitress was SO nice! She was above & beyond! Gave us recommendations and answered our questions; and staff was so attentive! I ordered the vegan creamy broth ramen. It was good; however, I liked Hinodeya’s better as theirs was more creamy and I liked the taste better. Marufuku’s was still good though. My friend had the Hankata Tonkatsu DX (The DX just means it has extra toppings). Apparently, this is one of the popular dishes. He said it was really good. We both finished our ramen so highly recommend. We ordered the chicken Karaage as well. I have to say this was SO good!!! For those wondering, I know I ordered the vegan ramen but it’s because I don’t eat that much meat (obviously not 100% vegan or vegetarian). Street parking can be tough but you if you’re lucky, you can find free residential parking or metered parking. Otherwise, there is an underground paid parking garage. If you take public transportation, the 38-Geary or 22-Fillmore (you’ll have to walk a few blocks, not bad as there’s plenty of shops & restaurants along the way). I highly recommend this place!
They’ve expanded the restaurant and took over the space next door. Basically there’s no waiting like it used to be. We were there around 1:30 pm on a Monday and was immediately seated (for two)! No waiting at all. Service was friendly and very very quick! Probably about 4-5 minutes after our order we got our food which was deceptively served in small bowls. But there was a lot of food and noodles. The broth was sublime as expected, the noodles perfectly al dente (small thin) with really tender pieces of pork. It was delicious and service was excellent but it was sooo noisy inside? It was hard to talk but for this incredible ramen, it’s worth it!!
The place checks the box off for what I would consider good ramen! The broth was creamy and delicious. The first sip of broth blew me away. The service was amazing. Everyone greets you when you walk in and when you check out. I order the Hakata Tonkatsu ramen and I totally recommend it. My only regret was that I did not order the deluxe. When a restaurant claim they serve ramen, I usually check if they poach the egg. The egg was poached well, and it was presented in an eye pleasing aesthetic.
Amazing service! everyone is super attentive and the ramen is to DIE for!!! I got the pork deluxe (the second one down on the menu) and it’s genuinely the best ramen i’ve ever had! The pork belly is super tender and, though i got medium, it’s not spicy at all and the perfect food to send you into a coma 🙂↕️. We will be visiting again!
The San Francisco Japan Centre location is a very popular spot, so be prepared for a potential wait, get your name on the list when arriving. Ordered the Pirikara Chicken Bites (Sauce is a little spicy if you don’t want spice order on the side), Gyoza, and Chashu Bowl (tender pork belly). All delicious options! Friends enjoyed the Hakata Tonkotsu DX dish and all loved the broth and homemade noodles. Option to get spice on the side for your ramen dishes to control your heat preference. Fun place and excellent service!
Had the ramen, chicken karage and pork baos We had the tonkatsu, the special tonkatsu and the tantan men. Noodles-The noodles used in tonkatsu are angel hair pasta like. I prefer the bouncy medium thickness noodles in hinodaya. Broth-The broth at marufuku is also heavier and thicker. Chasu-The chasu slices are different from other ramen shops where you get a spiral cross section. You get two irregular pork belly slices that look a little small Toppings are a little less here. Overall I ordered the soup of the tantan men. Karage was light and crispy. The baos were tasty with the glaze on the pork belly a little on the sweeter side.
One of the best ramen I’ve ever had! First of all, the server was very kind and informative. It was busy but she took her time to explain what is in each item. I’m glad I went with her recommendation, Hakata Tonkotsu DX. The broth was divine. The meat was so juicy and tender. The egg was boiled to perfection (jammy). Please give this place a try!
I never knew there was a Marafuku ramen spot in Japantown. My friend recommended we go there for lunch and not gonna lie, the ramen was amazing. The broth was so flavorful and rich. Noodles perfect, and everything else 🤤 10/10. Staff were checking up on us every so often to make sure we were good. I like this spot and will swing by if the chance arises
Upscale, very busy ramen spot with classic options and inventive specialities, boasting handmade fare. I prefer the thicker egg noddles served with the spicy (ground) chicken ramen compared to the thinner noodles in the standard chicken (breast) ramen. The broth is rich and creamy. The kid's plate comes with noodles, fries, veggies and karage. They offer Sapporro on tap and Asahi in bottles, and also have fun Japanese inspired lemonades like the Sakura lemonade.
We don't come to Japantown often, but this place never disappoints. We had Chicken Karage (excellent), 1 Hakata Tonkotsu (mild), and 2 x Hakata Tonkotsu DX (spicy) all excellent !!! (7 pieces of Chicken Karage, took pix after eating three pieces) Great service, they definitely work as a collective team. Ready to take order and ready to give bill when you are ready to pay. Very responsive. The only downside, is they don't have restrooms in the restaurant. You have to use the mall's general public restrooms.
Best ramen in town. Really really tasty 😋. Incredible tastefully, amazing flavor. We had karaage fried chicken also delicious. Very busy restaurant, we wait for over 45 minutes but it is located in Japantown center mall so you can hang around with no problem. Great service and clean area. It was our first time but definitely we will come back ❤️

Marufuku Ramen is located on the second floor of the western portion of the Japan Center (officially “Japanese Cultural and Trade Center”) also known as Kinokuniya Mall which is named after a major Japanese bookstore 紀伊國屋 chain founded in 1927 along the adjacent Kabuki-Sundance Theater on 1737 Post in between Webster and Fillmore streets.[* The eastern portion of the Japan Center, the Kintetsu and Miyako Mall buildings with destinations to Daiso Japan, Benihana, Osakaya, Nijiya Market, etc. are also located on Post near the Peace Plaza between Laguana and Webster streets. Kintetsu Enterprises of America was the center’s key anchor owning and managing the Miyako Hotel and Kintetsu and Miyako Malls. Kintetsu Enterprises is said to be owned by the Kinki Nippon Railway that operated the largest private railway in Japan, which was founded in 1944 and based in Osaka, Japan.] ❶ The Dashi qualities of its variety such as tonkotsu, miso, paitan, shoyu or tantan ramen, are quite above average and really tasty. ❷ The ramen noodles are really good not too soft too hard or too thin but Chasu is little too salty probably due to marinated in too much soy sauce and too long. ❸ Other ingredients including kikurage shiitake (wood ear black mushrooms), bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, pickled red ginger, nori seaweeds (dried and thin sheets), scallions, sweet corn, and you know what, the seasoned soft boiled egg are not only delicious but also included in the original price tag. By far this is one of the BEST Japanese Ramen shop in The City. {Will revisit Yamadaya Ramen another well-reviewed place in Japantown in a few days and do a candid review by comparison. } PS The kanji for "Marufuku" (丸福) meaning (the “circle of good fortune”), combine 丸 (“maru”), meaning "circle," a drawing of a person tossing around while sleeping; and 福 (“fuku”), meaning “blessing” or "good fortune," stands for praying or worshiping. This combination, literally meaning "circle of good fortune. Muni Bus line 38 (“Geary”), 38R (“Geary Rapid” means few stops) stops on Laguna or Fillmore. 22 (“Fillmore”) stops at Fillmore and Post and 2 (“Sutter”) stops at Post/Laguna.
This is my first time having ramen in the states after living in Asia for three years so I wasn't sure what to expect. I got the tonkatsu and the broth was pretty good but an ingredient was missing and I can't figure out what, maybe msg? The noodles were nice and thin as well as the charsiew which melts in your mouth since it's so fatty. I think two pieces isn't enough though considering how thin they are. Would need to order extra next time. The broth and bowl size is a good amount though. I think they're opening a branch in Serramonte which would be closer for me so pretty excited about that.
Long wait but great service when we were seated.. Food was reasonable but not worth the wait.

Pork in the soup are paper thin. I did not expect this from a 4.5 star rated ramen restaurant. \n\nShrinkflation? Tables here are close to each other so ambience is cramp and can be noise piercing …
the chicken bao was amazing! but the chicken tantan men had a weird chicken taste, the ground chicken was meaty and tasted old
Good atmosphere and MSG-laden menu. I like to eat clean as much as possible and always ask about MSG at Asian dining places. I realize most will still be dishonest about it if you ask about chemica…
We order Hakata Tonkotsu Dx and One positive note: their gyoza was not bad. Now, here are the negatives: Spicy tantan not good. Maybe they should not put too much peanut. The tonkotsu meat was too hard. The chunk of meat was hard to bite. You would need a knife to cut it. The server gave us a bread knife and it was still hard to cut. Service was not that good. The servers were rushing us to pay. We had not finish yet our food. We were very disappointed.
