Opinions de Thai Island@ Broadway
The restaurant has a cozy Southeast Asian vibe with colorful hanging lamps that add a nice atmosphere. One highlight was their pandan drink, fragrant and refreshing, and honestly even better than Thai milk tea. The soft shell crab red curry was very flavorful and paired perfectly with rice. The tom yum seafood soup was nicely balanced, sour and spicy with plenty of seafood. The pineapple fried rice was decent, though not the most memorable. We also tried the dessert sampler, which looked beautiful and tasted great. Overall the meal was around $30 per person, which is a pretty good value for Manhattan. Definitely a solid Thai spot worth trying.
M was an amazing waiter. He was patient and gave us our food and drinks with a quickness. The staff welcomed us with open arms and a large smile. The food was amazing, well seasoned, and was very filling. We wanted to get dessert but decided not to since we were already so full from the appetizers and main entree. Overall, 10/10! The vibes were amazing on a Friday night!
Elephant Ear Thai Restaurant brings a vibrant, elevated take on Thai fusion cuisine to NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen. My friend and I ordered 3 dishes and 2 drinks for lunch. The Elephant Roast Combo impressed us with perfectly grilled satay skewers (that tasted like real meat), crispy bites, and balanced flavors with the 3 different sauces. My favorite dish was the Drunken Noodle with Ribeye Steak for its rich flavor and portion size. The Pineapple Fried Rice served in a carved pineapple was both instagrammable and beautifully layered. We paired our meal with a creamy Thai Iced Tea (lychee/green tea available) and fragrant Pandan Cooler Mocktail (alc available). The customer service here is top-notched with affordable prices, and is truly a must-visit for Thai food lovers in NYC.
The food is really nice. Papaya salad is refreshing. Soft shell crab curry and pineapple curry duck are delicious. Entrees took a bit long to wait but worth! The waiters are very warmhearted, especially M.
Such a cute spot!! Food was really delicious, the garlic fried rice with the crying tiger steak was so addictive. Duck tamarind and fried eggplant yummy, and we also got a lychee thai tea. High quality food and bold flavors. Our server M was so really attentive and nice
Great food, atmosphere, and service! I usually don’t come into Manhattan but when I do I like to try different spots, and I hit the jackpot on this place! The vegetarian choices are excellent, atmosphere was romantic, perfect for a first date. Definitely helped having a great server, M, to make our experience better.
Had dinner at Elephant Ear with a group of 20 and it was such a smooth experience. We had a reservation and they seated us right away at two tables next to each other, which was perfect for a big group. Our server M was great, he was super patient, friendly, and helped explain the menu and what dishes were popular. Favorites from what we ordered: fried chicken wings, pineapple duck curry, ribeye drunken noodle, and pineapple fried rice. Just a heads up, a lot of dishes have a mild spice level, so if you’re sensitive to spice definitely ask first. For drinks we got the Pandan Cooler and Thai Me Down, both really good. Overall we had a really fun night. Food came out very quick, service was attentive. Restaurant and bathrooms were clean, food was great, and M seriously made the experience even better. Would definitely go back!
If you are looking for authentic Thai food this is the place you are looking for. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent and very friendly. And the atmosphere was perfect very elegant and cozy. They do recommend making reservations however they will go out of their way to make room for you if there is room available. We will definitely be back.
The staff were very kind and attentive, the ambience of the restaurant is lovely, and the food was delicious! The lychee iced tea is so good, it doesn't have milk but it's nice and sweet. It's the right amount of dark, andddd the music isn't loud! Would recommend
M, one of the hosts, was so kind to get us seated so fast as they were still setting up for opening hours. The service was quick, efficient, and the food...indescribable. It was one of the best soups I had. This is one of the best thai restaurants ive ever been to. M, was amazing and his personality made our experience so pleasurable!! Thanks M!!!!
This place was small but the food was full of flavor with every dish we tried. Service was not the fastest but the food made up for that. The restaurant is very well designed. Would definitely recommend visiting this hidden gem. My rate was 9/10
We stopped by Elephant Ear during our visit to New York and had a great time!! The food was delicious and the drinks were authentic and yummy. Great price point and atmosphere as well. Our server, Sudha, was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. We had a table for 2 and were able to reserve a spot day of. Be sure to stop by when in Hell's Kitchen!!!
I love this place so much! The food is top notch, the perfect place to bring your family and friends over and share a couple of dishes! The soft-shell crab and tamarind duck is a must order!
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city. Their ribeye is really yummy, and great with either the garlic rice or the pad thai! Have been here multiple times now and my friends have all enjoyed this place too. Service is very friendly~ Came here around noon on Friday and it wasn’t busy at all.
We recently visited this Thai restaurant. It was very good experience. The food was absolutely excellent — every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly balanced between spice, sweetness, and aroma. The service was just as impressive; the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. One thing to note: if you’re planning to go on a Friday, make sure to reserve a table in advance. It’s a popular spot for good reason, and it fills up quickly. Overall, a fantastic dining experience
Amazing lunch! Our server, Sudha, was an absolute sweetheart who took excellent care of us. The lychee martini was DELICIOUS. A must have. Don’t skip on it. For my entree I got the chicken coconut soup which was thick, savory, and came out quickly. It was perfect on a rainy day. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back!
Hazel was an absolute standout server at Elephant Ear Thai Restaurant. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better from start to finish. Our Thai iced teas came out super fast, which was much appreciated, and the food looked amazing. We ordered the crispy pork belly, pineapple fried rice, and shrimp pad thai—everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Hazel checked in at all the right moments and made us feel welcomed and valued. You can tell she really cares about her guests. Service like hers makes you want to come back!
Upscale Thai food in a sophisticated setting. The chef has augmented every dish you think you knew to add depth and complexity to the plate. Every dish we tried we stopped to think why is this better than the same dish we tried in other restaurants and what made this so delicious? Each dish, including the drinks, were augmented and scaled up. It's no longer street food, but from the gorgeous date-night interior and beautiful ambiance you get the sense that this isn't going to be an ordinary experience. My kids and I were in our happy places. This was a true dining experience where you are transported to a place where you set aside your expectations and allow yourself to be fed foods that are familiar yet give you an experience you didn't see coming. And you are better off for that lovely surprise. We found ourselves eating not because we were full, but because the flavors were so enchanting. My son had the ribs which were so tender he could cut them with his spoon. And after trying the asparagus he told me that I needed to learn how to make asparagus the same way - high praise indeed from a teenager. That was the consensus winner of best dish on the table that night. We'll be back.
First time in NY. AMAZING FOOD!!! Wow! Didn’t have a reservation, walked in on a Sunday night and ate at the bar. Zach waited on us. I had the green curry and my date had the Crying Tiger with garlic rice, both recommendations from the bartender. Perfectly cooked, hot, arrived quickly, flavorful. Excellent experience. Highly recommend!!! Christmas strawberry margaritas were two for one, not too sweet, and delicious.
Had a wonderful experience at Elephant Ear Thai! The food was flavorful and authentic, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Special thanks to our server Mamta — she was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel truly taken care of throughout the meal. Her service really made the experience stand out. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend!
We got the reservation with #opentable and highly recommend reservations specially in Christmas and new-years . Yes staff is friendly and we loved the food. We had #duck and #padtai also green chicken curry #tomyum (awesome and shareable) they had Tai ice tea with and without milk . When we walk here we took 6th street and turned from 47th street which had many events going on due to Christmas. Thanks to Shin , our server.
This is the best Thai restaurant we have been in NYC, M was a fantastic guy who provided us with very kind and 100% friendly service. The food is great, definitely deserved a high rating here on Google. 1, Crying thaiger with rice was delicious, definitely recommended. 2, Pineapple curry duck was a surprise, tasteful with crispy slow cooked duck. A very good place to go individually or with party.
My husband and I were in Thailand a few weeks ago. We were missing Thai food and decided to checkout Elephant Ear. The food was excellent. My husband had the duck and I had the short rib. The duck was on par with what my husband enjoyed in Bangkok. The short rib was outstanding. Our appetizers and cocktails were also very good. The service was fast and efficient, but too fast and pushy to really enjoy the meal. We were in-and-out in about 45 minutes. As soon as we finished the appetizers, dinner was served. If you looking for great Thai food and a very quick meal, it is an excellent choice.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful lighting and elegant décor that creates the perfect ambiance for a relaxing meal. The bar area is stunning, featuring a great selection of drinks and beautifully arranged bottles. The attention to detail — from the hanging lights to the fresh flowers — really adds a special touch. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, drinks.
I came here with my friends for dinner and we all loved it! The food was super flavorful and authentic — you can really tell everything is freshly made. The curry was rich and creamy, and the Pad See Ew was one of the best I’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has a cozy Thai vibe. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
We started with the Elephant Roast Combo, and for our main dishes we had the Crispy Pork Belly and the Stir-Fried Crispy Chicken. Everything was absolutely perfect! We could truly taste every flavor described on the menu! The atmosphere is warm, clean, and calm, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The service is excellent, and everyone is incredibly kind. If you’re looking for a great Thai restaurant, I highly recommend this one!
Super cool vibes inside and not too loud. Loved the food!! I got drunk’n noodles and they weren’t really that spicy so I added some spice but they were so good!! Usually I feel like Thai places give smaller portions but this was pretty large for a drunk’n noodle dish. Our server was Shin and was super nice and helpful!! I recommend.
The food here was amazing! I ordered the duck tamarind, and it tasted delicious, though a tad on the sweeter side. My friend ordered drunken noodles. They were too spicy for her, but I enjoyed it and thought they had great flavor overall! A fair warning that food here is on the more expensive side. I came with a fairly large group, so we made a reservation and were seated quite quickly. It was super cold this day, and the servers were obliging with hot tea.
We ate at the bar on a Friday night as it was busy but we were happy with that. We got served quickly. We ordered lychee martinis which were quickly served. We had drunken noodles, one with tofu and one with rib eye. Both delicious definitely some heat but so flavourful. We also shared the Chinese broccoli dish, stunning, the sauce and garlic were superb! Service was kind and quick. They were helpful with dirty requirements too.
Elephant Ear is a great fix for Thai food in the city—beautifully decorated, deliciously fragrant, and serving dishes that hit all the right notes. Taking off a star for service, but the food definitely delivers. I tried the lychee Thai tea (never had that combo before—surprisingly refreshing!) and started with the Thai basil minced chicken, which our server begrudgingly recommended… turns out, it was a hit. The Crying Tiger with garlic rice stole the show—packed with flavor and absolutely worth a repeat order. The curry held its own too. No desserts available when we went, but shoutout to the host for squeezing us in without a reservation. Only downsides? The server could’ve used a little more enthusiasm—and one of those decorative trees quite literally fell on me mid-meal 😂 Overall, great food, gorgeous space, and a few quirks that make it memorable in that classic NYC way.
They give you a 1 hr 15 min time limit which is fine, but I wish they disclosed that when you make the reservation. We felt super rushed during dinner. The server even gave me a dirty look when I said I needed a couple more minutes to look at the menu. Also they have only one dessert item, and when we asked for that, they said they didn’t have it since it was seasonal? Not sure if this is true (wasn’t noted on the menu) or if they wanted to get us out of there faster. Food was ok, nothing to write home about, but the service was pretty lacking.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and we will never be back here again and tell everyone to skip this "fancy" looking place for something, anything more authentic. Valla Table is right around the corner and serves some of the best Thai food in NYC. Go there instead. What a disappointing experience. We came here for our anniversary of all days and that made it extra worse. After reserving a table for 2 at 7pm, we were told our table was getting ready after arriving. As more people came in, they were seated right away as tables got empty. We ended up waiting 45 minutes just to get a table which they said would be bigger and special... so we thought ok, let's see what they have in store for us. The table we did end up getting was not even properly cleaned and right next to the bar area... nothing special there. We ordered Green Curry and Pad Kee Mao and waited another 25 minutes for the food to come. After almost an hour of waiting, the food came, looked pretty but had no taste. We were so hungry that we decided to eat the Green Curry but had to send the Pad Kee Mao back. Then another waiter came by to say they cannot remake the Pak Kee Mao any differently and that we should order something else. So we ordered their Yellow Curry. Another 20 minutes later when that came, it looked Red and even the server said it was Red Curry. So we told them it was the wrong order and then the waiter came back and said that this was actually the Yellow Curry, it just looks Red. What??? Do we look that stupid? That was the final straw. Almost 2 hours on our anniversary date, we were fed up with the staff and the food here so we just told them to pack everything up and left.
