Charming restaurant with loads of character inside and out. You are temporarily transported to Paris inside and a stunning French garden outside. The food was beautiful and tasty - we had the salmon, caprese starter with locally grown tomatoes, and a veggie burger. Even the children’s chicken was fab. Definitely worth a stop.
I loved the restaurant and the vibes the moment I walked in… Sorry literally did a photo video dump of what I had and experience whilst at the Spa retreat as a small bday treat to myself. Such a beautiful restaurant and lovely staff. If you come in via the hotel entrance it was the most wonderful immersion before the wonderfully delicious food! The Emmental Choix Buns were recommended when I gave them the few amuse bouche that I wanted to try. They were delicious! (If you like and can eat cheese). I then went for the lobster soup which was very flavoursome. Wasn’t sure what I was meant to do with the mayo but as you can see from the photos… I did my usual thing of experimenting… I trusted the mix of flavours presented to me and put them together. I’m a believer that when there’s all sorts on a plate, you should try eating all flavours together to taste or for that course. I was pretty much set on main until I got to the restaurant but I decided to go for (Marle?) their fish option which was perfectly cooked. To finish, I had a yummy liquid dessert which was similar to a Sauternes but even better as it was slightly less sweet. If you stay at Carey’s I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, their spa and other restaurants. The staff throughout the hotel were also lovely and friendly from reception to the lovely staff who prepped our room and the bar staff (even when tenet were busy).
An Absolutely Fantastic Evening in the Restaurant whilst staying at Carey Manor Hotels. The Onion Soup and Mushroom starters were delicious! Also not forgetting the very tasty Chicken main course! The Staff here are also brilliant and one of the guys serving is very funny and kept making us laugh! 5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plus Rating!
Fancied an onion soup in the UK for a while now, this one did not disappoint! We've had a soup and king prawns for starters, monkfish tail and lamb chops for mains and shared a Pavlova for dessert. The soup was exceptional, lamp chops were tender, monkfish came with a delicious sauce! It was a great dinner, lovely night and I do recommend this place, especially the soup and the monkfish with its fantastic sauce!
Ate here three days in a row. Excellent food, Great staff, Wonderful owners, will return here every time I'm in the New Forest
Fabulous food, wonderful setting outside on a sunny day, and very good value for the standard of cuisine and quality of ingredients. We shall return. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Ate outside under umbrella ⛱️. Temperature was high 20's, mid June! Not a cheap restaurant but superb atmosphere and very comfortable. Food good 👍, service great and very attentive. Was very accessible for my disabled mother with waiters going above and beyond to assist her, which I thank them very much 😀.
Just popped in for a drink but have marked this place as a 'Must Dine'. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff all with a lovely French 'flavour'. You just know when a place feels right! I was advised to book online as they were not open every day (they have responsibilities to the hotel, nearby). Let me know if you liked the restaurant, please.
We had a surprise birthday meal for my partners brother. The staff were great With allowing us to hide the guests (25)! and gave us the freedom to decorate the tables etc. We had 2 & 3 courses and the food was beautiful with great waiting staff.
Really enjoyed dining here! The staff made us feel welcome, and the food was top quality. Perfect place for a family dinner or a casual night out.
We really enjoyed the food. Lovely surprise and good priced as well. We had 4 kids and staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly reccommend it
Delicious food in a lovely setting.
Excellent food and service.
Had a Christmas party for almost thirty people. The food was excellent, the staff were brilliant and the party after was so much fun. Would book again.
Superb onion soup and seafood was cooked perfectly. Pork chop was delicious, no room for dessert!
We were meant to be Popping in to Carey's Manor today for coffee and a light bite but ended up having lunch in Le Blaireau after strolling through the wrong door and seeing the irresistible menu. The mains were so delicious we decided to have dessert too. The catch of the day was tasty with plenty of vegetables. I cannot fault the service and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are just wonderful. Will definitely visit again when in the new forest or Brockenhurst area again. Worth every penny. Thank you!
Had a lovely time last night celebrating my husband and my 70th birthdays. We were in the street which created a great atmosphere and our granchildren loved it. Food was excellent and we couldn't fault the staff who were both friendly and efficient. Thanks for a super evening, we'll be back.
This delightful French restaurant serves superb food in an authentic atmosphere, set in the heart of the New Forest. Wonderful selection of beautifully prepared dishes with a wide choice from their a la carte menu, especially fish and French regional specialities. Without question, the finest restaurant for miles around!
Absolutely great. Lovely staff. Lovely food. Lovely wine. Highly recommended. Will be back!!!!!
Fabulous food & service, thanks to Richard for looking after us so well. Highly recommend
A wonderful piece of France in the New Forest ! Excellent menu, typical French dishes, VERY attentive staff but not intrusive. It's NOT cheap but as a special treat worth every penny. Love it
We have dined here several times over the past few years and the food has always been of a high standard. The restaurant has a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and the staff attentive.
We had an excellent meal with excellent wine. One of the best restaurants I have visited.
Lymington Crab was fresh and tasty, prawn skewers were delicious and the staff were warm and fancy dressed. I look forward to sampling more of you tasty menu :)
Really lovely experience eating here. We went for a big selection of starters, fish soup, charcuterie, duck pate and camembert and was not disappointed. The portion of mussels is large if you go for mains so do beware. It was a bit salty towards the bottom and not enough sauce for chips to dip in. Duck pate was a favourite and would have preferred French onion soup over the fish but it was still delicious and smooth.
Service was very attentive and nothing wrong with the food, but it was nothing exceptional, apart from the French bread & butter😀 (that they charge extra for!). Great wine list though and some nice half bottles.
Good and nearly great. They just need to chill the white wine before serving it, and maybe tone down the French music! The food was great though and it was very enjoyable.
Greeted by the patron.. with a lovely welcome and seated in the window which was perfect. Starter and main course couldn't be faulted. And that's where it ended. Plates were taken away and no one else came to ask if we wanted dessert yet the couple behind us, who appeared to be regulars, were offered desserts. We had been waiting for a good 15 minutes so we got up went to the bar and paid. No thank you for coming.. Hope you enjoyed your meal.. nothing. . Shame. Food was perfect. Service... overlooked and poor. Great shame as we would have each had a dessert..coffee and perhaps a digestive.
Good food and friendly staff but it's got an odd atmosphere with strange decor. Food was very good but our cold.
This was our 2nd visit, the first time I rated it 5* but this time it felt like the standard of the food had really slipped. The crab starter was mainly lettuce and avocado, with hardly any crab! The tarte tatin (which was exceptional last time) was burnt around the edges. However, the lamb was very good. The restaurant is rather expensive (£100 for two people, with no alcohol) and the food was unfortunately disappointing on this occasion.
Lots spent on an authentic atmosphere which sorts of works in a tacky kind of way. Food acceptable but wouldn't bother going again
I thought the food here was really poor. I had the duck confit which tasted like it had been braised all day. Completely tasteless and the pomme frites weren’t homemade. Compared to Bistro Lotte in Frome last week a complete let down
Had the set lunch and the mackerel. The starters and mains were alright but the tarte tartin was below average. The apples were too sweet, pastry was pale and tasteless and the chantilly cream was disappointing. Waites forever for the bill. Terribly mediocre experience
Wouldn't recommend, definitely won't be going back there again. Decor is odd to say the least, and the staff were unhelpful. Menu was limited, and staff seemed unwilling to assist when it came to specific dietary requirements.
Absolutely terrible. We just went there and the atmosphere seemed fine and the front of house staff were friendly enough. However when it came to the food, the whole experience was completely ruined by the beef bourguignon, it was the worse cut of meat I have ever even seen let alone consume, it was 20% fat (which is fine), 75% gristle with perhaps 5%of very low quality meat. I honestly don’t think it was suited for eating let alone for the price we paid. We were so disappointed because the reviews seemed good, and we’d gone there as a birthday treat. We are not the type of people who usually complain or don’t leave a generous tip, but in this instance I had to ask the service charge to be removed and out of good nature didn’t want to cause a scene so paid in full. I would not recommend this place to anyone and certainly will never go back. It has left me feeling quite unwell and left a bit of a sour taste on what had been a very pleasant trip before that point.
We paid in full in cash. Try charge us again through the room ! Asked for small 125ml wine. Accidentally gave a large. Just be careful make you sure you have recipes ready for reception ( not small square one they try con you with) apart from that food was ten out of 10 excellent and beautiful inside.
Very disappointing indeed - both the place and - especially - the food. We left hungry.
I would like to give Zero score to this restaurant. This restaurant established 1989. It was like gone back in time, the setting of this restaurant was like still back in 1989. This place seriously need renovation and redecoration with brand new furnitures, everything were outdated. including toliets, need redecorate and cleaning, there was a spider web in the disable toliet on the wall. It was terrible. For food wise, it was waste of Time & ££££, I felt like I have been robbed. It was a absolute RIPPED OFF PRICE. The Lobster soup just tasted like fish stock woth Zero Lobster, it was very watery and bland. Waste of £13 ....Seafood were terrible too, it tasted frozen, very small portion, absolutely waste of time and monies. A Very expensive meal, but in return the quality and quantity of food does not add up VS to the price. They have got the cheek to ask for 12.5% Service charge for this kind of food and service. I think they need to close it down and start again. This place seriously need refurbishment. Got Robbed once, NEVER AGAIN AVOID!!!!!!
Went there for a Christmas Party. Stale entrees, wrong cutlery, paper tablecloths and rude waiters. Bavarian cream for a dessert was the only bright point.
