Was in town at the end of March from Texas and discovered this spot as I was walking by. I ordered something I have never heard of, Turkey Chorizo?! Amazing!! I was blown away with the portion size, zero fat and tasted fantastic with the garnish and sauces. I wish I could have stayed longer to try their creative and assorted menu so I highly recommend this joint.... ~CCG
My quesadilla was a little bit dry, it would be nice to add more sauce inside. Delivery was fast and on time. Overall, tasty and good. However I would argue about the value for the price.
First time here at a new job. I got the beef torta with the spicy fries and a can of soda. It came out to be $18 ish. Not bad and it was big amount. I never had torta before and I’m glad I tried it. It’s definitely tasty and the right amount of crisp. I highly recommend for the specials and tacos even tho I haven’t tried tacos yet. I’ll so come back again.

I ordered #48 plate with the Barbacoa - it was *so* good. The best pico de gallo I had. It wasn't saucy. The flavor of the Barbacoa was on point. My base was quinoa. The meal was filling, and due to the healthy whole ingredients, I didn't feel slugged down. The double protein weighed like 3 lbs. My partner orders it every time we get food from here. The sodas ingredients had real cane sugar too. Al Horno does great Mexican cuisine. It's even more health conscious and Mexican food is seriouslu already full of veggies and whole food. Def going back to this location.
I've been ordering from here for years. They have an extremely wide selection of vegan options. I absolutely love this place. I will never stop ordering from here as long as they retain all of these amazing options. There's nothing better than their burrito & quesadillas. They make the best of both in all of NYC!
Ordered from them recently looking for something healthier than your regular old Mexican spot and the food was really good. Fresh ingredients, very tasty and best part healthy food which is what I was aiming for. Definitely ordering from them again, give them a shot, you won't be disappointed.
Writing a review so Google stops suggesting me to since I frequently order from here. Very impressed with their takeout options. The menu offers a great variety of healthy and delicious Amerixan + Mexican traditional dishes. I always enjoy the Lean Burrito in particular and is my go-to, which was packed with fresh, always flavorful ingredients. The service was quick and efficient, making it a convenient option for a meal on the go which I know I'll enjoy. Highly recommended!
If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, and I loved everything I tried. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything I tried was delicious. I especially loved the Lean Beef Barbacoa Burrito. My go to place for Mexican food. Highly recommended !!!
Looking for a life style change with dieting, this restaurant has great fresh ingredients made all from scratch. Healthy choices from drinks to food. Authentic flavors and friendly staff! Definitely coming back and sticking to my diet.
This little spot is great. Whether you want healthy food or just Mexican. The food is delicious and quality. I eat here often and I’ve always been pleased. Definitely try it out
Probably the best tacos I’ve ever tried. The staff was very friendly, I’m veggie and the staff advised me about a veggie taco (which was not on the menu) and was delicious. My partner also tried different meat burritos and were very good in flavour and portion size, very good value for money. They also have 2x1 in tacos on Tuesday. Decoration could be maybe improved but 5/5 overall!
Oh man is this place good, super reasonable prices, quality healthy food, super tasty awesome portions awesome staff- real nice people. Plus the place is legit spotless- very rare for bay ridge- you have to try it
This place is amazing! Go here, I highly recommend it. I got the kale burrito and loved it. There are many healthy vegetarian options which is great. Usually at other places I'm confined to a bean burrito but here there are so many options. Also, my mom doesn't like spicy so they were able to cater to her needs. She now really likes Mexican food.

Extremely flavorful food, healthy alternative and really consistent. You can't go wrong

We've been ordering from this place often since the food is high quality. You can see and taste the freshness of the ingredients. My favorites are the shrimp, chicken, and steak tacos. My husband loves their burritos.
Solid salad banging sauce would eat everyday

I just want to make a quick note that I order from here once maybe twice a month so far for the last year. We always get the same thing, vegan quesadilla with both cheeses and chorizo and a side of guacamole and chips. Our order always comes pretty quick and we’ve never had any issues. This 3 star review which really should be 2 would be for our last order and the first woman who “helped” us over the phone. They delivered a quesadilla with vegan steak and bell peppers. I called to let her know and that I can send her a picture of the order. She responded condescendingly “where are you going to send the picture to?” …. I don’t know lady! The BUSINESS EMAIL? A text to your phone?! I wasn’t at home and my boyfriend had to rush out and wouldn’t be back until the morning. Basically they needed the wrong order back to provide the correct order as if we wanted to eat something we didn’t order… or… we were trying to steal from them? We figured out his morning schedule and basically they redelivered order the next morning (still not what we originally ordered because they ran out of chorizo and didn’t restock knowing they would need to make a chorizo quesadilla the next morning) and we gave them the original order back. As somewhat regular customers, this was really disappointing. Again, we’ve always loved the food and just hope the next time the mistake was on their end, that we’re not treated like we’re trying to steal food meanwhile we’ve been supporters since we discovered this bay ridge location.

I live in the neighborhood and really wanted to love Al Horno Lean Mexican Kitchen. Bay Ridge has always been a strong working-class community, and one of the reasons many small businesses survive here is because commercial rent is still among the more affordable in NYC. That said, the pricing here feels closer to an upper-class dining experience than a local neighborhood spot. For the price, the food quality and freshness are inconsistent. At times it’s good, but other times it doesn’t feel as fresh as you would expect when you’re paying restaurant-level prices for what is essentially fast-service dining. The service and overall experience don’t always match the premium pricing. That being said, it’s still a better and healthier option than Chipotle or most fast-food chains, and I appreciate having a lean Mexican choice in the neighborhood. With more consistency in freshness, service, and value, this place could truly be a standout in Bay Ridge.
We wanted, so badly, to highly rate this place, besides liking the food. Unfortunately, getting the food order through the restaurant's website leaves out specific options like asking for sauces/dips, etc. to be placed on the side and asking to confirm if they actually deliver on base, for example. The Agility plate arrived drenched in some kind of chipotle sauce which was super hot x10, making it hard to digest. The same with the burritos we also ordered, although the drenching inside was not nearly as bad but we felt the spiciness and hotness of the sauce, regardless. We, briefly, stayed at a hotel on base and had to meet the delivery guy (who was on a bicycle bike in this chilly weather on a Wed) at the gate, after giving the person a hefty tip, beforehand, for a 50+ minute delivery. If the chipotle sauce didn't choke the food tasting, along with the rushed delivery experience at the gate, I think we can say with certainty, that we had enjoyed the food. Please order and eat with caution.
Guess what this small as* size (about the size of my palm) taco costed? $7.59!!!! I can get a decent size sandwich or lunch box for about the same $$! Taste really just average. If you want overpriced Mexican food, come visit.

The delivery guy, despite getting 18-20% tips each and every time, is rude and makes me reconsider ordering from here every time. This is the last time I order from Al Horno and it’s too bad because I gave them so many chances but they never got it right. I’ve read the reviews and a lot of comments are related to the delivery guy. Food is good but service needs big time improvement.
