Ok, I love it here, but they need to change their strategies in preparation towards making the food by the time they open the food is cold. their potatoes are always hard and cold, not cooked, right also the rice super hard and cold the manager should do a taste test before opening making sure the food taste good

The Brownsville location is a clean, wide open, bright atmosphere. The food there includes certain Mexican items not found elsewhere. And whether you lean vegetarian, carnivore like myself, or just want to eat an entire plate of desserts like my friend Eric, they’ve got you. They have turned into my go to place at least once a week, and I can still eat within my dietary plan. The price point is also perfect. Just right. Even the service is spot on at this location. They keep refilling my tea and my coffee. Very friendly.
I came to this very welcoming community of Brownsville TX for a position at a local college. Everyone has been welcoming - very social and relational - likewise at this local restaurant in a national chain good quality food for this kind of dinning - steak, fish shrimp, vegetables salad - amazing selection. - but the people - the sevice was the best - try them!
Some servers are attentive, while others are evasive, only need to flag them for drink refills. Food is great. And the snoop dogg champagne is AMAZING!

The man that was cooking steaks did not speak English I was trying to tell him medium rare he finally understood He brought it to me I thought that was very polite I would definitely go back again I haven't been there in years was impressed

This Golden Corral has to have the best steaks I have had at any Golden Corral. The steaks were actually seasoned and very tender. The service was decent but as good as expected since we got there 1 hr before closing. Overall, the food made up for any other inconvenience. GOOD JOD GOLDEN CORRAL!!!!

Service was great . Food was fresh and warm. That is some great tasting barbacoa and that bacon was perfectly cooked The dessert bar was full of delicious freshly made pancakes, French toast and waffles. That's what you get when you have the right people working in a job they are great at .
My family and I had a pleasant experience eating here, the atmosphere was clean and friendly. The breakfast was nice and warm, soo hearty! The food reminded me of my childhood, waking up to a home cooked breakfast! A shout out to the bakery department, especially Andrea, very sweet lady, almost as sweet as her desserts she prepares with dedication.
Food was fresh and yummy... Service from the people making the food and my waitress Lulu was friendly patient and with a smile. Music was a little loud... Need more peaceful music.

I’ve gone several times and everything was great! From hospitality to the food! Everything thing was hot and fresh! The environment is welcoming and the staff were very friendly! I love going because I always have a great time and enjoy delicious affordable food!
Golden corral has very delicious food! For safety the staff is now serving the plates as you make line for the food. They are always generous with the servings but you can always ask for more and they are more than happy to serve you. Mini burgers, spaghetti, seafood, steak, orange chicken, salad, and so much more to choose from. If you get there before 4pm during the week you save a few dollars. Highly recommended!
They trying to get better. I was there for about 25 minutes. Several products were empty and most was still empty when I left. Pizza had one slice of old pizza and never replaced. Review your camera's don't just take my word. Golden Corral is not the problem it is management

The staff is what make the place. I wish the restaurant had name of the food prepared but, it was good. This place needs a make over.
So this is the 1st time I decided to order a big meal and was pretty damn impressed so while I drove all around trying to find me some good fried chicken I remebered they have awesome fried chicken but I've never bothered to ask if any meal prep to carry out to my surprise they did and let me tell you they did Not let me down... everything seriously was made to order and fresh. When I saw the chicken at the bar to serve yourself I thought they would get it from there... they said no Ma'am we make yours fresh boy they weren't kidding freshly made fried chicken and yes fully cooked not raw I was damn impressed. They did give me heads up that it would take abt 30 to 40 min but I was ok with that but next time I feel like eating that I will call in advance. Anyways for the price and the amount people you will get your moneys worth. It even comes with desert wow! And dbl yum. I will return and if you all wish to order plz do so and be patient what I love is they have both fried and Baked chicken. That is my next order till next time. Thank you Golden Corral for your hospitality and awesome service. My dinner to go I highly recomend this. Beats other fast food. The taste is great and fully cooked. For my 1st time here in this location, it was good, super packed, but because I was not aware, it was Veterans' free meal day. It was overwhelming, I suppose, for the staff, yet the food I chose was very good and well cooked, so thx golden coral.
There was lots of flies. The server would pick up out plates when we were done with the food ,and had our drinks filled excellent but the flies it hard to enjoy food when you have to be swatting flies away making sure they don’t get on food or drinks the food was okay. I love the bread and mash potatoes . Temperature inside restaurant was warm . The kitchen is right out there so that might be the reason. Our server she was excellent . I do believe in giving credit where it is due. She was 👍
It took forever to get through the line, There was only one family ahead of us, they were our of almost everything and the food they did have was sitting for a long time. The floors, tables and restrooms were dirty and smelly and it was so hot inside. I wouldn't visit again.
Restaurant was very crowded. There was a long line for a small 4 oz. steak. It was uncomfortable to have to carry my plate of food through crowds of people, and felt unsanitary. The steak was good, but everything else just so-so.
I had not been here in a while. It seems that their menu selections have changed. I was craving Turkey with gravy. They don't have it anymore. Some of the items (cauliflower and corn) were cold to my liking. The fried fish with tartar sauce and steak were delicious. I almost forgot about the pecan pie. It was great!
Not a bad place to eat with families without a lot of noise on Thursday night right after shopping at Home depot and Lowes. Food cook fresh, but steak did not satisfy my daughter's need (mine was ok 80% satisfaction), salad sections were low on vegetables, and desserts section were also not as many as before, not a lot of choices.

Went in at 6:20 pm for dinner and they had food missing from the line of which some was never restocked the whole time we were there till 7:35. Our waitress never stopped by the whole time to ask if we needed refills. She did walk by and pick up plates but that was it. I saw them remove the butter from the line around 6:45 and some ladies had to ask for it. To top it off there was people still paying to come in at around 7 pm and as I mentioned a lot of the food in the buffet line was missing. I did mention it to the manager and all he could say was that he would tell them to restock the line which did not happen.
Never show up at 10:30. Breakfast apparently was winding down. Most trays were empty and eventually lunch items came out. Food was very bland, no flavor. We have eaten at this chain before...but this location was not appealing.
Closes at 9pm (I even went back out and checked). They stopped replinishing food just after 7 and started pulling hot food at 7:30. At 8pm they had pushed everyone out. They were even cleaning fridges and grills with hoses right next to the buffet food.at 7:30. The waitress would not speak English even when my mom did not understand what she was being asked in Spanish.
Sad compared to how it used to be. Cold food, many empty stations and we saw roaches ): Our servers were very attentive despite it all. Sadly won't be returning and wish them well.
Wow, I was very disappointed in this and this time to Golden Corral, we've been coming to this one for almost 9 yrs. It didn't have enough food out. The cook on the grill was very rude. My favorite dessert was not good anymore (banana pudding). I will NEVER return!
Food availability was limited. I wanted a burger and had to wait for 10 minutes....cook said they only cook burgers every 15-20min. If it's a buffet....shouldn't food be available at all times? Restrooms were dirty with lots of water on the floor....place looked dirty. I gave it a 2 star because our waitress was awesome. If not, it would have been a 1 star.
I drove pretty far to eat here. I arrived and was told they were not accepting cards at that time. I didn't have enough cash but luckily somebody helped me out. I understand things happen but the cashier was rude about it and so was the young lady at dessert station when I asked if they had any ice cream.
It has declined lately since its manager is no longer there, there are times that there are few dishes,there is no longer variety always the same dishes, or missing dishes or salad because they do not have in inventory the ingredients
Food selection was not what makes Golden Corral the place to have lunch after Church.. To start of the plates were set out wet, so I had to grab napkins to wipe off. The buttered bread was not buttered, food did not follow when food trays were about to be empty.. Seen a little girl and her Dad wait a couple a minutes for pizza.. Brownsville GC need a tune in Management and service, and especially food presentation.
Service was okay , the cashier took a long time to charge.the food was decent but not worth it , paid $47 for two people.
Party of 8. 6 children 2 adults paid $153.01. While we were waiting in line getting our drinks a server kept cutting my kids off to get drinks for their tables. No excuse me or anything. At the table we waited 15 minutes with no greeting I had to get up to get silverware for the entire table. Only 2 of my kids got refills from a server. The rest of us had to get up and get them ourselves. Not to mention the buffet line cooks couldn't keep up with refilling the food. The steak cook was putting 2 chunks of meat down at a time even though he had a line of 8 at one point. I witnessed him telling the people in front of me that people like to get double steak at once because they're too lazy to walk so we have to wait longer because of that. Won't be back.
This was my first time ever coming to the Golden Corral in Brownsville, my go to is usually the Harlingen one. It was alright! We went during lunch, so there was a pretty good amount of people there- but we were taken care of fast. The rolls were awesome, but everything else was lackluster. The macaroni was cold, the pot roast just tasted off, and the broccoli/cauliflower was nothing to brag about as well. The highlight, for sure, was the dessert. Their ice cream is so good, and all of the pies were great. I love the toppings, variety, and all of the stuff offered in that section. Also, the strawberries were VERY fresh! In terms of service, our waitress was meh. We had Lily and she didn’t really take the time to refill our drinks at all. 🤷♀️ Overall, a below average experience. Probably wouldn’t return here if it wasn’t for the dessert
Took my daughter to the restroom and just seeing this trashcan stained with poop is disgusting. Looks dried up like it's been there for weeks, I'm sure months. It's disgusting that they would just change out the trash bag but not fully clean. As for the food. It was alright. There wasn't much selection for entree but tones of sides.
The food was not as good,it looked as if it was either overlooked or just had been sitting over it's holding time. What I didn't like at all I saw my server just at the back by drink station and he was eating then he comes to out table and wants to touch our glasses and things and doesn't even wash his hands. And not only him I saw several servers. There was one literally walking by eating a slice of pizza. Never again will we come back
Food was overcooked or not many options for an Easter Sunday dinner. I would have expected better food. The server never brought any utensils , nor did straws even after I had requested them. I had find a random employee to get my group utensils. And we never got any refills on any of my group drinks my group was right next to the service booth.
Don’t waste your money here no much food variety Some food where not great steaks very dry, ice cream machine wasn’t working well dessert not the greatest soda machine in the front wasn’t working . Was looking forward to get beef stew very dry no gravy , white gravy was water not gravy at all . Very disappointed
Place not recommended! Ever since the manager change, the food has not been the same! Apart from no food variety, they serve re-heated food. Let’s not even talk about hygiene. Cockroaches come out from and crawl around the food area. Talking about the restrooms, they are horrible and in a very poor condition and dirty. Do not waste your time and money in this place, never returning!
Server Keyla refused gift cards which I gifted to my parents for Christmas. She didn't accept them and said they are not accepting gift cards until further notice. Pretty scrappy thing to do right after the holidays when many people bought gift cards as gifts. Called 2 times, no answer. The manager I got a hold of on the 3rd call said his GM Roy would call me back. We shall see. Update: GM Roy contacted me and agreed to give my parents a refund and went further to invite them to eat again with 2 coupons. Greatly appreciated how it was handled after I contacted them and the speed of the managers attention.

My daughter and I went here Tuesday. My daughter loves to eat at Golden Corral in Harlingen and in McAllen which are very nice places. This one in Brownsville is bad. Will never eat there again. Almost everything was burned and looked really bad. The cooks were rude when asked for something. Pizza crust looked like burnt leather. Fish, fried chicken, okra, popcorn shrimp, pizza, everything burned. Hope the owner sees this.
Terrible place to go to for buffet. The Harlingen location is WAY better. No one was assigned to us for our drinks. The food was cold. I was thinking all locations offered the same food. Not this one. Dessert was the worst. Many people were trying to get ice cream and it would come out clumpy. The amount of FLIES around the food was crazy. I was looking foward to the banana pudding dessert, but none of that. Overall the place just seems dirty to me. Most of food has been there for a while. Would NOT eat there again!
I used to enjoy coming to this spot when I was younger, but I came for breakfast and the food has taken a serious turn for the worst. Burnt toast and pancakes, watery gravy, the eggs tasted horrible and frankly there weren't many options of different breakfast items I urge nobody to show up for breakfast you will be heavily disappointed. The lunch didn't look much better either on my way out I was going to try some potroast but just one bite you could tell it was dry and bland there's a serious lack of standards here.
Went yesterday and all the soup plates were dirty and disgusting. They weren't cleaned properly and had pieces of food all over them. I don't know what happened to the dishes, the variety has decreased a lot but prices have increased. No spaguetti and sauce, no ice cream before they had soft serve ice cream and had a station were staff scouped ice cream for you, no chocolate fountain anymore. None of that is there anymore
Iv been to golden coral all over united states this has got to b the worst one n iv been to alot off dem no food hardly everything cold I will never eat here again 😑 😒
This used to be the spot for me to have dinner with my parents but lately the food is cold or there isn't any food on the line. The cashier in the front ignored me after I told him 4 adults 4 drinks he kept texting away on his phone. It looks like a fun place to work as the kitchen staff was too busy having a conversation behind the wall instead of standing by the steaks to serve. I had to yell at them 3x to get their attention. It's not fair we pay close to $100 and you get ignored and cold food. This was my experience a week ago and unfortunately my parents do not want to return.
Today is a different review, today is 08-24-25. Breakfast was from 8:30AM to 11:00AM but at 10:05 they run out, no more French toast, hot cakes, bacon, etc, etc. A bad planning from management. I get to the restaurant at 9:48AM. Another bad experience. The review is down was from my past experience but Google just let you one per account. The all experience go to the trash when you visit the restroom. Smell very bad like the entire restroom are covered on piss. The cleaning is very poor or none, it's like they never program a deep cleaning, you can see poop on some places. And looks very old. Make wonder how it's the back of the restaurant, kitchen, warehouse, etc.
I was deeply disappointed with the food on steamers looked as if it was days old ,ham all dried up and they had only ground beef for tacos, a few pieces of chk roast beef was all dried up food was terrible. I recommend Golden Coral in Harlingen it's the best and has more varieties..and food preparation is amazing over in Harlingen ,bad experience in Brownsville I will never dine there again ...🤮
First all The person in the front keyla she was super rude was completely ignoring us while giving us our price she was talking to her coworker and didn't even talk to us then after we started getting our and the bread buns were cold the broccoli was cold every thing looked like it was just sitting there the chicken was cold rice was hard and dishes was dirty .... This place is so not getting my service again.... So disappointed on my plate and for dessert no ice cream but still tip our waiter $5 cuz we know how hard it is for them
The food looked unappealing. It looked old, and some foodswere soggy or dry. The broccoli was burned. The gravy was so ugly and looked clumpy. This restaurant was one of my favorites, and now I don't think I'll ever go again. I should have taken pictures. So sad.
I have ate at a lot of golden Corrales but I can say this is the worst experience I have ever had the waiter couldn't speak English so I guess he decided not to wait on me I had to get my own tea I had to get my own ketchup the steak was like eating rubber no manager to be seen playing loud music couldn't hear yourself think when you walk in there was food on the floor where you its was sweep up in a pile it was still there when I walked out for $22 dollars I will never go back they need to get a new manager and staff that speaks English this is America
save your money! worst golden corral ever. food was not good. everything seemed like it wasn't made right. kids hated it. misssing lots of things we liked. no shrimp, burgers, taco bowels. steaks werent even good. staff was ok. don't recommend at all. haven't been here for about 2 yrs and now I remember why. if you want ur family to enjoy a meal don't come here! not worth the money at all. we were better off getting drivethru somewhere
This restaurant was our worst experience we ever had. The salad bar was not fresh, it was white lettuce. Most of the pans were empty. They were not filing them often. The meat was burnt. They need better management.
I went today after several years. I cannot comprehend why people still go there. Price is 21.49$ per person with drinks. In my opinion WAY too overpriced for what you’re getting. Food was OLD, tasteless and dry. Service was horrible, our waiter was rude. I came out of there hungry and went to eat in a different restaurant. Save your sanity and mood go elsewhere.
Bad experience today, very disappointed. Salad bar had no boiled eggs, sunflower seeds, carrots. No hash browns, no bread pudding, limited amount of pies. No cinnamon rolls, no strawberries. Aunt B’s chicken was very greasy and over cooked. Food-bar was not filled in timely manner. Marshmallows on the sweet potatoes with marshmallows were burnt. So sad 🥺
The worst buffet in Brownsville thus far. Hardly anything worth eating plus most of the food is cold before you sit down. I seen better buffets with variety as well. The whole place needs renovations as seen on the photos torn walls and seats. You can tell a lot about a restaurant with poor/decaying decor. The one star is just being generous but at least the fried chicken was good everything else was subpar at best. Lets not mention the plates! DIRTY! They are old with brown scratches on them from so much use. I had to look a bit for a decent one. GET NEW PLATES FOR GODS SAKE! Never eating here again. Oh and did I mention that their outside logo lights by the road needs fixing too? Yeah. These guys are being cheapskates. Vote with your wallets folks. Eat anywhere BUT HERE.
This used to be a wonderful restaurant, a few years back, but, it is horrible now! It does not even have all of the food that golden corral promises to have. Very sparse choices. Old items on buffet. We had decided to give it one more try, even though the last two times we went, we said we would never go back and found that the only soup was one pot of Menudo, no other soups at all, the tomatoes on the salad bar were so old that they tasted rotten, at least 4 food pans were empty, meatloaf was way undercooked, food bar was filthy with spills and the floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in a month. The ham that was out, that they carve for you, was a very small piece that looked like it had been out for hours and hours, it was all dried up, and I asked if they could get new ham and they told me, no. I could keep going but I won't. $45 for 2-Senior lunches. Sadly, this is just not a restaurant to go to any longer. It must have changed ownership or management in the last few years, because, it used to be nice. We will be driving to the restaurant in Harlingen from now on. I want to say something positive also, so, I will say that the ice cream that they served tasted very very good.

Came to have breakfast on Sunday, keep in mind they open at 8:30. We arrived at 9:30 and they were out of menudo and barbacoa. Asked manager and all he had to say was we’re out. How can a “buffet” run out of any item within an hour of opening. Will not be returning myself. Poor ownership and management.

People, people ! Customers! Please read this and don't get sick. We went on Saturday with the intention of tasting the stake they serve there . But, we were greeted at the counter top right next to the Pan and steak section by a disgusting Cockroach that the Chef killed with his white cooking glove! The manager in charge admitted that they are infested with cockroaches and the owner Gaspar I aware of it ! Food Patrol people - we need you !!! I suggested to the manager in charge to close before somebody gets severely ill.
2 adults, 2 seniors, and 1 child age 5 yrs. and our bill was over $130... the food was absolute trash... someone warmer must have been turned off or not working properly because I went to grab some fish and it was barely room temperature... there was no one there to cook you a piece of steak 😭 and there were several warmers at each station that were just completely empty... the food that was available looked like it had been sitting there for a good minute... it looked like anything but appetizing... The staff was mediocre, quite a few kitchen staff just walking around and whistling back and forth to each other... our server only came to our table to collect the used plates, but never offered to refill our drinks... we had to ask for more drinks... they took out the chocolate fountain and replaced it with a waffle station since the last time I was there... I went to check it out and noticed a cockroach 🪳 dining on the syrup that was spilled everywhere... he was chilling and I didn't want to disturb his dinner, so I returned to my table, grabbed my family and we left... this place has really gone downhill... we where extremely dissatisfied 1,000%
SO this used to be a good buffet. Food was hot before, lots of variety, decent amount of meat and vegetables. Now? Maybe one or two selections of meat. They advertise the hot dogs on a griller but the grill sits there unused while the hot dogs sit in disgusting water. The beef stew is usually too hard to break apart with the spoon if you even get stew. Mostly you get the vegetables that come with the stew and no meat. Steaks are always cooked terribly, if they even have them ready. Food is never ready. Broccoli is always hard and not steamed. Soups are old and gross. Not many salad toppings. Honestly isnt not worth the price anymore. Breakfasts are even worse.
Absolutely disgusting! Nothing was hot at this buffet . Nothing was fresh, the kitchen was so dirty. The servers never pre bussed. My daughter and I saw a live tiny cockroach at the salad bar. Management needs to be on top of all That . I didn’t even complain at restaurant cause honestly what would they even do at this point . Not many people , so I under stand the food just sits there but wouldn’t have this problem if it were busier but to be busy you need better quality and better management . If I want Golden Corral the drive to Harlingen would definitely be worth it. 10xs better there .
Customer service was good when we paid so we thought the experience was going to be good. Unfortunately, the food was not! We usually go to the Harlingen location and stopped going to this location in Brownsville because of tbe bad experience in the past but we decided to give it another try.(Will definitely not be returning.) For the price we paid the food should have been better and the cleanliness around the food should have been kept up with. Bad experience all the way around. Didn't take pics woukd have been too many!
We stopped going about 4 years ago due to various reasons. I saw on Facebook that there is a new owner, so we thought maybe things will finally change for the better, we were so wrong. Stopped in for breakfast this morning 1-3-26. Not many customers at the time we stopped. Not much has changed. The food on the buffet was cold( as it was in the past). Server was notified and she did tell someone but it seems he wasn't bothered by the news as he sat down to eat his breakfast. We didn't make a scene, just got up and left. I know for sure we will never go back. It's such a shame. So much potential but it seems the staff doesn't really give a damn.
The food wasn't replenished very small selection compared to every Golden Corral across America's worlds worst Golden Corral I have ever been to. Bathrooms had poop on the floor. The manager should be ashamed of this establishment. Corporate needs to do an overhaul. With a quickness.
Spent so much money on crappy food. No variety of food options and mostly all the trays were empty! When asked if they had any more waffles or pancakes they said they ran out of batter. They have to get more out of the managers office to make some. This place used to be great now they are so cheap with their food.
Good evening faithful review checker, I wont go into the painstaking details of the interaction I had with the waitress Nora and kitchen manager Manuel Ortega at the Brownsville, TX location to receive an automated apology later. I would simply like it to be known that when you tip at the front counter at the golden corral, the host will write the word "Tip" and the dollar amount left in pen so the waitstaff can see it from a far. As Manuel agreed this undoubtedly affects the quality of the service received and it has been an issue with this establishment. The gratuity is already printed on the receipt and included in the total amount at the bottom indicating the discrimination is purposeful and with intent. please beware.
My elderly mother paid 140 dollars for the thanksgiving feast and was told she would be getting quart sized containers filled with sides that would feed 6-8. They were not even filled half way. This would barely serve 2-4 much less 6-8. This is ridiculous that they would charge this much for half servings. The fact that an organization this large would take advantage of the elderly to make a profit on thanksgiving is revolting . I will boycott going to the Golden Corral in Brownsville Texas due to their poor poor service.
Used to like eating here but looks like management changed. Carpet looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Haven't seen these many flies in a restaurant. Had to cover my food and drink so they wouldn't take over. There were flies all over the desserts and a roach by the turkey. Had to leave,, couldn't take it anymore.. Hope this is taken care of because I really used to like it before.
