Amazing. Stay away so there's more room for us. If you do sneak in 😂 you will find friendly people serving OUTSTANDING food (small, careful menu) in a house that Jazz built. Jazz folks this is the real deal. Everyone else should just come and enjoy the magic of live music. Pro tip: come early for a seat for the 1st set or arrive late to get a seat by the 2nd set (most likely).
Music is always amazing. Just wish the space was a lot bigger. If you come for a performance, expect to share a table with someone. But a great way to make new friends :)
Very cute and quaint bar/lounge that accommodates bands for live music. Had the olives and hummus as appetizers and they did not disappoint. The olives were served in fresh olive oil and the hummus is out of this world! The warm pita bread and cucumbers on the side were the perfect touch. Graced by the sounds of Miles Tucker and Many Blessings. There was one snafu and that was our server, Bear. I understand that it was a very busy night, however, customer service should never waver. He was rude, abrupt, standoffish, wouldn't acknowledge us when we tried to get his attention, and when he was touched on the arm to get his attention, he looked at us like we were crazy and proceeded to gesture to not touch him. At the same time, he attended to a table behind us where it was visible that the woman at the table was gripping him by the arm. Absolutely unacceptable! Didn't let it ruin the night but definitely not a moment to forget. Please re-educate him on the importance of EVERY customer being met with patience and treated with respect. Other than that, an overall amazing experience and will certainly be returning.
Great quaint restaurant with AMAZING live music! Music starts at 9pm and depending on the artist, you will need to arrive between 7:30-8pm to get a good seat. Difficult to accommodate a group bigger than 6 folks.
Highly recommend this gem of a place. Cozy intimate atmosphere where you are just inches from the stage. Plus delicious food and drinks and attentive staff. Every night they have amazing live music. I wish I could come every night!
My absolute favorite! Not to gatekeeper, but this is the very best place in Brooklyn, possibly the city for live music to discover new artists. The cocktails are top-notch, the service is impeccable, fantastic selection of Mezcal, dimly lit, magical space. The best of the best. ❤️❤️❤️
Before you read on, I have been inspired by this bar to tell you that you just read this review in compete silence so that you can let the review wash over you and you can enter a higher form of your true self. Lunatico encourages silence during the performances which I gladly helped to enforce by giving a friendly but stern glare to anyone who dared make an utterance. What can I say... I entered this bar as a regular eel and came out as an electric eel. As a tourist to New York with an 18 month old I was about as fried as a possum hanging on a wire (this is a good time to tell you I'm Australian). But Lunatico... You brought me back to life. The two times I went here I was rejuvenated and refreshed and felt like my spirit was cleansed of the day to day harsh reality of being on a subway for 50 mins with a toddler. Side note, I'm so sorry to the two young ladies on the subway that she demanded milk from. Lunatico reminds me of the days of olde where you could go to a bar and stare at the guy who has his eyes closed clearly lost in the music or possibly just asleep, or even possibly got something in his eye from some bizzare cooking incident at pre drinks and therefore must keep his eyes closed at all times for the evening... What I'm trying to say is this is a bar where you can be there instead of on your phone. The staff are so cool that I dared not make eye contact with them because I didn't want to appear dominating. But when they ducked down and smiled and patted me on the head I felt reassured and like I was back in the womb. Before I leave you I must let you know that I tried a lovely non alcoholic orange beverage that really knocked my socks off. I tried to find them again upon leaving the venue but alas they were goneth. Lunatico, oh how I loved thee and wish thou existed in Melbourneth. Thou has my heart now and forever. When I return to my beloved home town I will shout the name Lunatico from thy rooftops for all Melbournites to hear. Be still my beating heart. Lovely place
Lunatico is exceptional. Would give 6 starts if I could. Modest, classy, amazing energy, always fascinating and talented artists. Affordable. Lovely and knowledgeable staff who make wonderful cocktails. Just adore this spot.
Unparalleled jazz show experience! Clearly attention is paid by management to book excellent performers - I will definitely return for a show. Biggest issue with this place is the clientele; bougie white Brooklynites stuck in self absorption create a divide between people there for music and diners/dates who drag on the vibe.
Outstanding neighborhood spot for a drink, snack and of course - live music. Arguably one of the best small)/intimate venues for live music. Place gets packed, so get there early for a spot near the front. The tables in the front are community, so don't be shy and share. Food is eh - super small portions and nothing to write home about - even the cheese! Eat and home and come for a drink. Owner was great! Servers were cranky.
epic place to feel human. to let go. to dance. to watch. to be. to embrace the joy within you. was lucky enough to be there while the group TRIO CATARINA was there. don't miss them. also learned that they have brunches on sunday along with live gospel. can't wait to experience that. beautiful place. beautiful people. bellissimi. my fave place on NY so far. thank you for a blissful and inspiring night the LUNATICO crew. go lunatico at lunatico!
Enjoyed live music. Very nice vibe and ambiance. Had a lovely time.
Great time at LunAtico. Amazing music and vibe. Dinner was very good, thoroughly enjoyable. Get there early for table or seats near performers, but it's small so sound carries fine.
Best jazz in the city, worth the wait but make sure to get there early! I recommend the liquid love cocktail! Always the best bands playing, much more unique than other jazz clubs in the area.
Update: After having been here a few times I think this place is a toss up. Certain food and drinks have either been really good (risotto, pesto with focaccia, rum drink) or really bad (chicken dish, anything mezcal). Food took 45 minutes to come with no forwarning last time. Given how small the place is, not sure why it always takes so long. Band is always great no matter which day of the week. But going here requires too much energy - there are ALWAYS issues in getting seated, even if you arrive well in advance of the first set. The food is delayed significantly. I’d explore more drinks/food but some are just plain bad I regret spending money on them. Service is just not it either. I have to grab someone to order every time I’ve been there. I’m not sure this place is worth my time anymore. Old review; This place is a neighborhood treasure….if you can ever get in. Have been here a few times, have also been turned away due to capacity. The good: The vibe and atmosphere is just so…beautiful. The bands they bring in are phenomenal. I hated their mezcal drinks but really liked the rum cocktail. For apps, I liked the beans but the winner was the focaccia with the pesto dip - the most delicious spread I’ve ever had! The bad: Either show up 1.5 hours before the first set or be prepared to wait an hour in line with a 50/50 chance of getting inside. I’m so grateful to have seen the bands I did but the waiting has gotten really old really quick. People are almost like competing with one another to sneak inside and it feels very hunger games-y. Once you’re seated (if you’re lucky), you do have a good time but I’m just too old to be spending so much energy and time just for the chance at seeing live music. I’m not sure if there’s a solution for this but would love to be able to frequent this place more. Service was honestly really really slow given how small the place is. Found it a bit shocking.
Intimate and friendly jazz spot. Enjoyed sharing tables with fellow jazz lovers. Food was delicious and drink. Really lovely thriving independent spot
Lunatico is the best bar/restaurant/music venue in the area! The food is delicious, cocktails refreshing, and music is one of the best in all of NYC. This is probably because the owners are both excellent musicians themselves, so they've been fully plugged into the "scene" for years. Which also explains the friendly, casual vibe. Do yourself a favor and go!
Wonderful experience. The food and the drinks were great, but the staff was even better. We really enjoyed our time and we will be back. Loved the live music as well. Overall great time. I had the short ribs and my girlfriend had the bouillabaisse. Pictures don’t do them justice though!
Vegan Bahn Mi was really good, the olives are an acquired taste. I like them ALOT but it was too much salt for me. The drinks were really good. I had a house punch that didn't make me sick AND was good. Saw an excellent band there too. They have a back patio, a couple aearsin front and great ambience indoors. Service was quick, no wait and pleasant. It's NY so prices are a bit high but won't break the bank.
An incredible spot that reminds one of a New York (Brooklyn) that is hard to find these days. Laid back, incredible atmosphere, great people, wonderful music, a brilliant cocktail menu and surprisingly excellent food for such a small kitchen. And no reservations!
It's very tight, but amazing vibe, and all about the music! The owners are fabulous, the music top notch, and the audience, real music lovers!!! You have to go!!!
Lovely cosy bar with a great cocktail menu (liquid love was delicious). We caught the start of the music which was fantastic - wish we could've stayed longer!
Great music in a great venue. We dropped a pretty penny for a special occasion but didn’t regret a single cent. We tried their mezcals with gusano (worm) salt and oranges, the hummus with warm pita, two cocktails, the caesar salad, and a few of their small plates. Everything came out quickly, the cocktails were top notch (probably our favorite cocktails in Bedstuy). Get there at least an hour before music starts if you want to get a good seat!
Fantastic vibe. A musician's bar owned and operated by musicians. I arrived at the end of the first set of a jazz trio, and was given a spot to stand while patrons left, allowing myself and others to sit and enjoy the second set. This music positive culture is a boon, fostered by the owners. I recommend bringing cash if you choose to tip the night's entertainment.
First time dining here and listening to the live music. On this night the place was packed! The venue had a nice ambiance. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food and drinks were good and the live music was great. Great place for a date night. We will definitely return in the future.
LunÀtico is a lively happening Bushwich Bed-Stuy joint owned by musicians, serving very good tapas and delicious creative cocktails. They have a wide range of talented musicians performing live nightly. There are 2 sets: one at 9PM and another at 10:30PM. Hours oprn: 5pm to 1am. We were here for Frank LoCrasto's XOTICA band. 🎼🎶🎹 🎶 🎸🥁🪘🪇Fabulous!!
They have a small menu but everything I've tried has tasted great. They have a good selection of zero proof cocktails too in addition to a full bar. The biggest reason to come to Lunático is for the live music.
Sweetest host/ bar tender. Unfortunately the 9pm show was full when we tried entering on a Wednesday (he said 10pm had better chances), but he couldn't have been nicer about it
Live music bars are dime a dozen in New York City and when you think of the best ones you automatically think it has to be in The Village or Tribeca. So when my friend invited me out to Brooklyn for a “live music bar” I did not know what I was signing up for. Walking up to it, it does give off the vibe of a place you wouldn’t revisit, so why visit it the first time, right? The maître d had a French accent and the staff welcomes you with a very intimate vibe. Something you didn’t know you missed in Manhattan until you go here. We ordered drinks and dinner and continued our conversations. The restaurant was well lit and the ambiance gave a sense of upbeat and fun. The music was yet to start in another hour so we had plenty of time to kill with our conversations. Hummus might be a New York staple dip. Almost every place that can have it, has it on their menu. And needless to say, I think I’ve gotten it every place that has to offer it. Here, however, there’s a house spice they put in it, that is unavailable everywhere else I’ve tried. It is the best I’ve ever had. Braised short rib was perfectly cooked and delicious as well. Now, I’m a gin fanatic. I’ve had many Gin drinks from some from world’s top ranked gin distilleries. This is only to say that all my taste buds were immediately a fan of their “Mrs Robinson”. A simple, cocktail of gin, honey, and lemon. An artist once said, I don’t do new things, I just do the same things a little differently. LunÀtico changed regular gin with rishi earl grey tea-infused monopolowa gin. And I have to tell you, you NEED to try this drink. Of course, now you can try it in the comfort of your apartment but then you would be missing out of the beautiful live music, the incredible decor that accentuates the beauty of being in another country. A little bit of Croatia in the depth of Brooklyn.
One of the rare bastions of what NYC was and still holding strong by people like Richard. I’m only annoyed I just discovered it in the last year. I was told it’s been ten years since they opened. Get there early and be prepared to wait. Worth the wait. I have yet to have had a bad night and I now try to make it often.
A very cozy and lively hole in the wall. The live music - which was at the time - an eccentric jazz quintet led by the owner of the bar - were really really good. I closed my eyes and enjoyed them enjoying themselves. It was nice to have a certain decorum and discipline at a live music venue and one that was well respected by all the customers. Cocktails were yum. I rather not comment on the food. But that’s ok.
We organized a dinner here for a group of about 10 people, and I was a little nervous about how it would go. I shouldn't have been. From the moment we walked in, the service was incredibly smooth and organized. They handled the large order perfectly—everyone got their food at the same time, and nothing was mixed up. The portions were generous, which is always appreciated when splitting the bill, and the quality was just as high as when I’ve visited with just one other person. It’s a great place for a celebration or a casual get-together.
A magical night in Brooklyn, exceptional music, great food and wonderful drinks, and the most immaculate vibes. We were there for the second set. Got there to be in line at 9:30pm, didn’t get in until 10:15pm but at least we got a table! Our server was warm and kind. The band gave a masterpiece performance.
Wow, how can I start. First time in LuAtico. And I loved. GREAT place to hear live jazz band. Place ia cozy and service was amazing. Food was great. Just make sure you bring some cash to tip the band and come in early because otherwise you will stand in like until half on the show at list. Or just standing inside if there is a place but no matter what you will have fun. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK
This place has live music later in the evening and a really nice and chill vibe before then. First time here my wife and had a few cocktails off of the menu. They were all really good and well balanced. We got the hummus, gigante beans and the focaccia. Again everything was really good. Coming back for music and more of the food menu for sure.
Loved my visit. The musical act was amazing and the service was superb. One thing to be aware of due to the popularity of the place is to make sure you get there early enough to have a meal while the musical acts are on so you’ll have a seat as opposed to standing room only. Love!
One of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. Amazing drinks, great food, fantastic service, incredible music every night. It’s really tight quarters and the chairs are not comfortable, but that’s my only complaint!
COME EARLY FOR THEIR MUSIC NIGHTS! It is such a cozy and small place that can only accommodate so many people. First set starts at 9, but most definitely arrive by 8:15! Second set is around 10:30pm, so most definitely come by 9:30 as they sit people usually at 10pm! They do not have a cover fee, so please get yourself some hummus / foccacia or drinks! Be sure to also bring some cash to tip performers to keep the music culture alive and show your support. I never got her name, but this lovely queen w/ a blue bandana that was the hostess for that night told my boyfriend and I to sit under the awning since we couldn’t make it in time for the first set. Thank you! Awesome date night spot.
This is a neighborhood favorite. diverse crowd, positive vibes, coming together to listen to music. The food is uneventful. I ordered sea bass frittata and it was more of a snack than a meal. I would suggest eating elsewhere beforehand. Otherwise drinks were sufficient. Venue is small and intimate. Staff is very friendly and communicative.
I went to LunÁtico to see Lawrence Fields perform and the whole experience was great. Staff is super friendly and they do a good job making sure everyone is taking care of. The drinks we had was the Cubano Negroni, Shame Spiral no.1, and Ting Ting. Each drink was unique and delicious i like the Cubano Negroni the most i loved to hint of espresso and the Olive Oil Cake is also delicious!!!. Lawrence Fields put on a dope performance and i can't wait to checkout more artists in the future. I highly recommend LunÁtico to anyone who love Music, Drinks and having a good time.
Overall rating: 4.7 I really enjoyed this place! I went solo so I was lucky enough to get the last spot at the bar right before the music started. I don’t remember what I ordered, but it was very good! I don’t see it on the menu anymore, so it might be a seasonal dish. The vibe is really fun & great. My two areas that doesn’t give it a full 5-star is that 1) the old fashioned was not good. & 2) not the best spot for solo. I’d definitely come back with friends or a cute date spot. Highly recommend! 🎶
A true hidden gem! We came here at the advice of a friend and had the best evening! We arrived 90 minutes before the live music was set to start and got great seats at the end of the bar with a clear view of the stage. Between drinks and coursing out our meal we were eating and drinking right up to the end of the bands first set. The cocktails were delicious and the service was top notch. We also enjoyed the hummus appetizer. Highly recommend the lamb Kafta. The mushroom leek polenta dish was also quite nice for such a cold night. We split the date cake and rice pudding desserts. Both were yummy. If you are looking for a nice night out, this is the spot.
Came here for a random show on a Thursday. Had a small wait to get a table and they out you in a standing area that feels like you’re on time out. Lol. But it’s a small space. Got seated after about 10 minutes. The just was very attentive. However didn’t order food since we spotted a roach crawling on the wall. Maybe I’m delusion but maybe it was because the door was open (cross fingers hahah) Drinks were good though. Music was a vibe.
The focaccia was amazing with honey, grapes and cheeses spread, that didn’t make the pic list and it didn’t last long enough to, as hunger took over lol. Also they have a spicy butter bean dish that is tasty. The ambiance is very chill, they have live music, which I didn’t get to enjoy but it’s a nice vibey location in Brooklyn. I would recommend for a date for sure. Service was okay. One guy was really nice and looked out for us. Overall great experience
East Village hidden gem—LunÀtico nails intimate, vibey dining! Food was strong: focaccia with whipped ricotta pillowy and addictive, grilled octopus tender with bright chimichurri, duck confit tacos rich and flavorful, uni pasta luxurious and creamy. Everything felt thoughtful and seasonal. Service was knowledgeable and warm (great wine pairing suggestions), though it slowed when busy. Atmosphere is pure magic—dim lighting, candle glow, cozy booths, sultry jazz/live music energy—feels sexy and special, perfect for date night. Loved it—worth the resy!
The venue is really cozy and the performances are great. Not a lot of seating though. Shame they didn't have cranberry juice for my vodka
I feel like this place is a great stop. I will say the red snapper dish was very disappointing. A steamed fillet of red snapper atop a spinach frittata which had no real indications of yellow from eggs (perhaps no yolk used) not sure. The snapper was this moist piece without any searing, atop the moist frittata, atop a bed of pickled veg. All one note besides from the pickles which didn’t bring any harmony to the dish. I had fun at Lunatico, good drinks and atmosphere. That snapper dish was ridiculous though.
I’ve been here a handful of times over the years and it’s a cool option for live music. However, it gets pretty crowded (I stood near the bathroom which was less than pleasant). Also - it’s extremely loud. Don’t expect to have a conversation - you’ll strain your voice yelling over the music. Definitely worth a visit, but just a heads up for those really looking to connect over a drink or meal.
Got there before music crowd, with advance notice, and still waited 40 minutes from order to service. Food was good, not great.
Great ambiance. That is the primary driver of why people go. Drinks are good and tasty. But what I got in terms of alcohol in my drink was stingy for the price, basically 4 swallows.
Been a regular here for over 5 years. The food has always been decidedly average, drinks good and music great. Unfortunately, I think they've been a victim of their own success, in that when it gets very busy things take super long (which is natural) but sometimes it can take an extraordinary long time to get a drink and bar staff could be more attentive. However, it remains a great place for live music!
If you’re looking for a place with stuck up servers and entitlement you’ve come to the right place. The atmosphere and band were amazing, but good luck getting any service. And when you do it feels like you’re just bothering the servers. Half the time they’re sitting outside on the patio…god forbid they have to work. Not to mention, there’s a card you receive with a list of rules…there’s a food and drink “minimum”, tip 20%, providing donations to the band. It feels as if you should be thanking them for gracing you with their presence. Just a bunch of stuck up hipsters.
Prepare to wait in a line that doesn't even look like a line then get told to leave because you didn't realize that a group of smokers outside was a line. The guy working there tried to insist that I had been there before when I apologized for not knowing there was a line and told him it was my first time there and it seemed like ge didn't believe me. It felt disorganized.
I was really excited to check out LunAtico as I’ve heard good things. I was the first person to arrive in my party, and the bartender sat me at a table. I was sitting for two minutes and the host / manager came over and told me their policy is they can only seat full parties, and proceeded to kicked me out of the table and sat me at the bar, and gave the table to someone else. I understand if that’s their policy, but I should not have been kicked out of the table especially since my friends arrived a few minutes later. The host was abrasive and hostile and I felt like I was being harassed. He didn’t do anything to make the situation right. He didn’t offer to sit us at another table or buy us a round of drinks. We left and went to Saraghina across the street and had a lovely experience. I have never been treated so poorly in all of my years in New York City, and I will not be going back. Don’t waste your time here. There are so many other places in the area that have good vibes and great customer service!
Came in a group and checked in many times to make sure it was something they could accommodate for. The hostess told us to stay and wait and order drinks and they would let us in. Then proceeded to question some of our group members as if they just showed up. Once they finally let us in an hour later, we were put by the bathroom to stand while there were empty seats. They continued to watch and police us all night and also pressured us to keep ordering drinks even though we spent well over $100. The hostess and bartender talked about us in front of our faces making a scene in the restaurant embarrassing us. Horrible judgy pretentious service and we will not be coming back. Also didn’t ID and served underage people that we talked to in line.
after waiting over an outside and being met with extreme attitude, they put our party in the “standing area” which was a corner by the bathrooms with no view of the band. we were met with more attitude, yelled at when we tried to sit, and told “we expect you to order throughout the show” after already spending over $115 on drinks. absolutely ridiculous
The waitress came to our table once and never again. My $15 drink was filled half way with foam. The owner/manager personally comes to every table guilt tripping each person at the table to donate $10 to the band that brings them all of their customers. This should be part of their cost of business as it’s the only reason they have customers.
