Fantastic steak and eggs. Coffee was great also. Open and airy vibes inside. Great people working here.
I love this place!! I literally walk out of my way past 3 other coffee shops just to come here. The coffee and food are so good (and unique!) and everyone on the staff is friendly and welcoming — a highlight of the neighborhood for sure.
Blue Star Parlor is an amazing place , the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed , staff is very friendly and the owner is super humble and welcoming… I am not from the neighborhood but there’s a sense of community here. Food is amazing , the owner makes everything from scratch!!!! I had the banana walnut muffin with the turmeric ginger tea, then I had avocado toast with lemon lavender tea…. 10/10
I’ve been coming to Blue Star for years. Before it was Blue Star it was called Qathra. Sherman, the own, takes great pride in his place. Always greeting with a smile and great hospitality and enthusiasm. It has a cozy atmosphere without being pretentious. All the food, pastries, kitchen food and especially the coffee, are always great. Also recently, Blue Star has opened itself up as a galley space for artists. It’s a wonderful place to meet friends and have a respite.
This is my favorite spot in the neighborhood when I want to work at a café. The owner and workers are so sweet and really great at giving suggestions if you don’t know what you want. I typically get a pastry (the apple cinnamon muffin top is my is my favorite) all the drinks are really good. My go to are the chai and ginger lattes. i’ve also gotten the breakfast burrito, which is really filling and delicious.
This place is an instant 5 out of 5! We got an oyster mushroom… croissant (when they ask if you want it warmed up, say yes!), a cinnamon roll croissant, breakfast burrito, B.E.S.T, vegan hot chocolate, and rooibos tea. The burrito was so well put together, like it was packed and held well, with just the right amount of everything. It hit all notes on texture and flavor. The B.E.S.T was better in every way than anticipated, the biscuit really hit the spot. The hot chocolate was also just right, not too thick or creamy, not overly sweet or dark in chocolate. I’d get everything again. We were in the area looking for a brunch spot. I had “Qathra” on my list, I have no recollection why or how it’s on my brunch list, but it is. Figured why not come here to this Blue Star Parlor which seems to be the same place based on other reviews, can always ask if it’s halal. So we did. And they confirmed their food is halal! Can’t wait to come back and try more.
Just had an amazing breakfast here! The Bake N Egg N Cheese (small omelette on a fried bake, which is a St Lucian roll) with mango-jalapeño sauce was simple and excellent. Makes me want to visit St. Lucia...
I’m leaving the neighborhood soon and one of the hardest parts about that is saying goodbye to mornings and afternoons at Blue Star. What a wonderful place. The owner, Mr. Sherman, and awesome staff make delicious drinks & food with kindness and warmth. The space feels exactly like what it is: your neighborhood cafe. Inside is a little moody while the covered outside is bright and truly accessible in all seasons. I’ve spent countless hours typing away out back (free WiFi!) and countless mornings making a quick stop for a reliably great coffee or tea and a slice of rich quiche or muffin top snack. Everything is worth it, but I especially love the herb omelette, breakfast burrito, mango oat muffin, chocolate chip mint scone, and quiche of the day. If you go in the summer, you’ve got to try their black iced tea with cardamom syrup. I’m sad to leave Ditmas Park and especially heartbroken to part ways with Blue Star Parlor.
Such kind staff and DELICIOUS coffee! WiFi is pretty fast too!

Love this spot! 🍵The teas are fantastic including house made chai and ginger tea. The staff is super kind and prices are very reasonable. Great place to work or catch up with a friend.
This is my favorite coffee place on cortelyou. The taste is consistently good (for both the food and the drinks) and the staff are very friendly. They give you the option to have your coffee in a mug if you're eating in, and i love that because single use coffee cups make me feel like i have to hurry instead of sitting down and enjoying my drink.
I went here to treat my sister for her birthday and got the chipotle burritos. It was really good! The cashier did a really sweet gesture also! Will definitely be coming back for brunch!
My breakfast go-to. Cortado and Loaded Turkey wrap, nothing better. Standout coffee, whether you do drip, espresso or coldbrews. The staff and owner are a wonderful part of the experience, a gem in the neighborhood.
Loveliest, locally owned spot - the BEST corn rosemary muffin, i walk far to get it, and delicious feta spinach scone - all the scones. Warm staff, kind of spot in atmosphere and food you want in your neighborhood

I love this place. People are friendly and chill, food's always good, calm and quiet feel inside and the back yard is peaceful and private.

A true neighborhood cafe. Very chill, great music. The food is great, and the employees know everyone. Best of all, they have a community board. This kind of place is what Flatbush needs.
The owner (sadly I did not catch his name) was so accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable to my son and I. The spot is a cutesy little Cafe vibe serving up delicious and healthy homemade cuisine and beverages. The prices are fair, the quality is great, and the food was delicious. We just happened upon this little spot and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Thanks for your kindness!
I used to come here for breakfast from time to time when this place was named Qathra Cafe. I stopped in recently to see the rebranding of this cafe and to find out if anything has changed from my last visit. Even though I liked the previous menu selections, the new options seem just as good, and the lattes here are always on point. They bake their pastries right on the premises, and everything is reasonable priced. I ordered the Passion Fruit Pancakes, which were on the small side, but they came out quite tasty. The waitstaff here was and still is friendly and accommating. The only critique I have is that the place needs a bit of a touch-up inside. Otherwise, the place is clean. Overall, in my opinion, the rebranding wasn't really necessary, but I enjoyed my recent experience, and I will most certainly stop in again in the future.

Good food and coffee if you have nowhere else to be later that day. The QR code menu looks promising but it’s a wifi dead spot and their wifi never works. Good luck getting any human’s attention !

Ordered Americano, quiche and almond croissant. Americano was EXTREMELY HOT. I felt it and waited for 15 minutes then I sipped and burned my tongue badly. As well I waited for another 15-20 minutes quiche to be worm up, is that even normal? 2 stars just because quiche and almond croissant was more or less decent but owner should really consider the heat in the coffee machine

I hate, and try not to ever, leave bad reviews for small businesses…however…are we going to pretend that this acceptable for a “caprese” sandwich? A pinch of bagged shredded mozzarella? If you ran out of fresh mozz just say that and I would have ordered a different sandwich for ~$15 + tip. I even asked what the best/most popular sandwich was. Additionally, I waited ~20 min for this. Do better for your customers.

My husband and I were very excited to try the food. The place was pretty empty and immediately upon entry the waitress just stared at us. No, hello, no how can I help you. We asked if we could sit down and she finally answered. We sat for about 10 minutes... No one offered water, no menu, nothing. There were 3 other tables of people who already had their coffee or food. We decided to leave and go to George's. There are way too many good restaurants in the area to deal with such poor service.
An unfortunate lunch experience. With the caveat we arrived 230pm we ordered lunch then radio silence until I learned that the server voided my order in error serving only my wife. I'll only be ordering coffee again assuming they can't screw that up
