The Bento with chickpea tempeh was so tasty. Tempeh had no bitter taste whatsoever and the teriyaki marinate was not too sweet. Staff is super lovely!
Fantastic little coffee shop. Good speciality drinks and matcha. Bento box’s and sandwich’s are fire as well.
The 1st time my friend and I casually walked in an ordered the Tiramisu Latte, my brainwaves were forever altered. This is the go to for balanced well thought out and prepared coffees and such. Motor on over post haste!
The best matcha!! Definitely in the neighborhood…and likely Brooklyn as a whole. I’m not saying this lightly! The owners are so sweet and the drinks are so good that I don’t mind the long line.
Unassuming cafe front, serving the neighborhood's best coffee. Can take a while to get your order but they do serve really delicious oat milk latte, their rewards program makes up for the wait!
Matcha fanatic here! This place has the best matcha I’ve ever had. They use extremely high quality ingredients, and have a subtle hint of white chocolate in their matcha. It’s absolutely delicious and worth coming out of your way for!
Brooklyn Ball Factory is a great coffee shop with high quality coffees and teas. Their food is incredible too. The shop itself is a little bit small but the best part about this place is the beautiful rooftop. Usually not too crowded. The staff are nice too.
The salmon bento ball was ridiculously good. This tiny little adorably cramped cafe is exactly what you'd expect from a hole-in-the-wall gem of a Brooklyn cafe.
Bought some 95 rpm layo teraga coffee beans recently. When I got home, I noticed a small mistake in the amount of beans I got, so I went back the next day. The service immediately gave me the rest, added an extra ounce of beans, a complimentary sandwich and an iced coffee to go. Above and beyond, I haven't experienced anything like this in a while. The coffee beans are absolutely delightful. I'll definitely be back !
My go-to place in the area for a well balanced meal! I always get the shabu shabu bento box and the iced yuzu ginger honey mint tea. The bento box comes with multi grain rice, lots of vegetables, and a meat of your choice. It's so tasty and the yuzu tea is refreshing. There's plenty of outdoor seating but I wish the rooftop wasn't closed.
top tier cold brew. you won’t regret ordering their custard toast. breakfast burrito is also notable. great neighborhood atmosphere.
What an amazing find. The cafes around here are unassuming. Hidden behind a large metal door you will find the most coolest hipster Japanese cafe. The vibe is trendy with earthy tones and bright open spaces. The menu contains a good selection of Japanese staples including Bento Boxes. They also specialise in excellent coffee made either espresso style or cold drip. Not to be missed is their absolutely delicious iced matcha, yum! The bento was a great lunch, not the biggest portion but enough for lunch. There is also a rooftop deck which would be great on a later summers day with a beverage in hand.
Excellent Onigiri warmed for breakfast. The sour plum is mouth puckering and delicious. Cappuccino and an Ethiopia pour over we very well done. 95 RPM coffee roasters supplies their bean program and they highly succeed for this 3rd wave coffee shop. Didn't make it for lunch but their Onigiri reminded me of Japan travels.
I love this place! Every time I go here I feel like I'm giving myself a little treat. Clean and delicious food, fast service, and really nice staff. I usually get the salmon onigiri which always hits, but this time I tried the kombu one and I was pleasantly surprised! So delicious <3
Stumbled upon this place as we were in need of coffee and a little food to hold us over until an early dinner. Pleasantly surprised! Mocha and Matcha Latte were both delicious. Got the breakfast burrito which was so much better than I thought. Little Asian twist on a breakfast burrito but was saucy and flavors were balanced well. It also came with a small fruit salad which was a nice add. Gyu Don was also decent and loved the little variety of sides they provided with it. Accidentally spilled our mocha and they offered to remake it which was nice but we didn't have time so ended up leaving. Only a few small tables inside but they also have outdoor seating.
tirimisu matcha changed my life. that’s all.
Really great matcha latte! I come here once a week to meet with a friend who lives next door, and it never disappoints. Personally I'd recommend getting it unsweetened, with almond milk (the "regular" version is sweetened, and is about half as sweet as your average mocha). I've only tried the coffee once, but it was solid!
Been in the neighbourhood for half a year and come to B.B.F. often. Everything is dope about this place. Usually NTS radio is on Iykyk! Quality coffee and food. Tiramisu latte is insanely good. All the food is great, fairly priced considering the amount of work that goes into it All staff are friendly, even when it’s rush hour they are still nice/helpful Customers are generally chill, seating outside and inside. Hopefully rooftop will be open soon! Having come from Kenya, I can confidently say that the tea and coffee here is up there
I can't even let myself go into detail about how much I love this coffee shop. I would end up writing a multi page essay. Everything about this place is honestly perfect for my taste in cafe establishments. The coffee is great, they actually steam the milk when you order milk in just a normal cup of coffee. Beans are affordable and good. The music they play are some of my favorite styles. The food is unreal, and priced well for what you get. The Onigiri are a great snack. The location aesthetically and architecturally is dope! And the staff pretty much get the chillest and coolest in East Williamsburg award. I have yet to try their non coffee drinks, save for tea of which they have a great selection. Lastly, this place actually had a hand in our criteria to move into this neighborhood. We legit loved it so much it was on our pros for reasons we wanted to live nearby. It has great energy and community. Highly recommend.
The Tiramisu Matcha Latte is out of this world. I descended and came back to life. My friend had the Tiramisu Latte and she loved it, it was the best one she’s had.
My favorite coffee shop in the area. The bento boxes are amazing (meatball and salmon) and the ambience is very mellow. Drip coffee is good. It gets crowded pretty fast because they have a small seating area downstairs. If it’s a nice day they have a lovely roof top terrace open with chairs and tables.
Absolutely fantastic - Review update time pitches! Super good clean tasting food. Not cheap, but reasonable prices. Hip atmosphere with a roof deck. Night time has a bigger menu. I had a dark udon noodle that was the bomb. Lots of good vibes.
Really happy to have BBF in the neighborhood. Great to grab a rice ball on the way home or treat myself to their savory + sweet breakfast options. The bento boxes are solid too. This place introduced me and my partner to Hojicha which we're loving. They have a fancy cold brewer, a cup of which can be pricey, but I've heard the difference between this and more traditional methods are huge. Will try sometime. During winter there's limited seating indoors, but there's always seating outside. Sometimes it's busy enough where a line is going out the door.
Cute coffee shop with great coffee, drinks, and snacks! The service is a tad slow, so it’s not the best place to grab the quickest coffee but if you have the time it’s worth the wait. Wish there were places to sit inside but when it’s nice out, chilling outside is great.
Dirty iced chai paired with banana walnut muffin ❤️ They make their own chai and it was absolutely delicious. I don’t usually like muffins but theirs that banana walnut was bomb. Gotta try their meals next weekend.
Love this place. Their matcha is my favourite. And I love their banana muffin. All their stuff is so fresh and delicious. Even their puddings are so good and I’m not really a pudding person. Highly recommend.
First went here in 2019 and since then their iced matcha lattes have remained my favourite in the city, even compared to all the recent trendy spots. Excellent matcha quality, and the baristas are always careful! I think the price is reasonable because they're always soo consistent and I've never had a bad drink here. I get an iced matcha latte with an extra shot and oat milk and it's perfect. They were also one of the first places to have hojicha lattes a few years ago, back when it wasn't as popular :)
I love this place! I come all the time for a quick pick me up of onigiri rice balls. I've tried the chashu and the salmon and they are both fantastic. The hoji latte is also really good, a little on the sweet side, but I'm sure it could be adjusted. Their bentos are delicious as well. The cafe is not the most comfortable to sit in, but it's good enough. It's also nice that they stay open late and you can have your laptop and do work. When it's warmer in the spring or summer I'd love to come back and enjoy their patio area!
Absolutely exceeded what I hoped for. The employees' service care was extraordinary! The quality stays high visit after visit. Each item shows attention to flavor. This restaurant won't fall short.
What a gem. The outside of this place looks like the entrance to a safe house, its giving tunnel entrance to an underground tunnel and/or entrapment. But as soon as you walk in you’re surprised with a pleasant view of a coffee shop. Plants, baked goods, and fresh smelling lattes fill the air. The cashier was welcoming and you become happy to spend $8 for a hot drink. This is why you gotta love Brooklyn. Never judge a book by its cover. This is a cute spot. Only come here if you’re doing well in life;)
Best matcha in the city! I love that they have such a hearty and delicious miso soup
Brooklyn Ball Factory is one of those little gems that instantly makes you feel cozy. I stopped in and tried their Tiramisu Latte and wow, it was such a treat. Creamy, slightly sweet, and with just the right balance of espresso and that signature tiramisu flavor, it felt like a dessert in a cup without being overwhelming. The shop itself is small and welcoming, with a calm atmosphere that makes it perfect for sitting down with a book or just taking a breather from the city rush. I really appreciate how they lean into being eco-friendly, from the little details in their setup to the overall vibe of sustainability. It’s nice to see a café care about both quality drinks and the environment. Overall, it’s a simple, thoughtful spot nothing over the top, just good coffee and a good conscience behind it. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the neighborhood and want something different from the usual chain cafés.
The best espresso ! Of the 28 coffee shops I’ve tried in NY this is my favorite! Also the sweetest baristas and really good pastries
The tiramisu latte is really good and the space is super cute. I haven't gotten a chance to try their food but I did get a muffin the last time I was in there which was delicious. Definitely will be back.
So many good onigiri’s. Favourite: Kombu!! Soooo good and also aotogarashi. ❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌 have been back for over a decade and does not disappoint. Also Yuzu Matcha Tonic. Bomb.
Delicious food with plant based, vegan sushi options. Coffee was also excellent.
I love Brooklyn Ball factory! The Tiramisu Latte is out of this world! I come in from NJ for it. I wish they would open a shop at the Jersey shore!
Perfection. French toast with fresh delicious sweet fruit and fresh cream was delightful and my sister’s croissant with ham and cheese and a oatmilk mocha was so amazing she called me to let me know and she’s truly the pickiest eater and hardest person to please. If you haven’t treated yourself to this amazing little café, run, don’t walk. Love it!!!
The coffee here is so delicious, i love the cold brew, matcha latte, and tiramisu latte. Love that the to go containers and compostable.
Splendid service and an abundance of Japanese food and beverages! Worth the wait in line. Don’t skip out on the matcha latte! Just the right amount of sweet :)
loved this spot i happened upon today. staff was sweet, the onigiri is so good and fresh. the iced tea i had was perfectly sweet, and the space is cozy and cute. i can’t wait to be in the neighborhood again to stop by
A very lovely and cosy place for coffee and something sweet to accompany it. I had a decaf Americano, damn was it the best coffee I have had. The french toast was delightful, not too sweet, perfect pairing. Very lovely staff, deserve all their success and more.
i have found a true gem in east williamsburg💎 this cafe offers the SMOOTHEST matcha latte 🍵 i have had in my life. microfoam is microfoaming hard. the default version is sweetened. so you have to order unsweetened if that is your preference. i also tried kombu (seaweed) onigiri 🍙 the rice to filling ratio is a bit off (too much rice more my liking). kombu filling is perfectly seasoned, combining sweet and savory flavors. seaweed wrap is really soggy since the beginning and kinda too chewy. this cafe is rather small. but they have wifi, 4 tables and 3-4 bar seats inside. outdoor has only chairs but not tables. i went on sunday and it was packed since 10am 🫶🏻 the vibe is industrial with hint of greenery. they also have miso soup and other japanese sandwiches 🥪 i need to try their egg sando very soon.
Strawberry Matcha is the best one I’ve ever had! I would attach a photo, but I devoured it immediately. Perfect sweetness of strawberries, great quality matcha, and there was 2 strawberry pocky’s inside 🤩 Salmon Onigiri was so yummy. def will be going back
I went on a Sunday morning and there was some wait but it was still pretty quick 🍙 hot peppers and plum: both were huge in size and so flavorful 🍵 matcha tiramisu latte: perfectly sweet, thick and decadent . That mascarpone foam was amazing 🍰 yuzu cheesecake with ginger and lime : probably my favorite bite. Unique taste and texture was perfect Limited seating. There are so many items on the menu I would love to try next time. Definitely add this to your cafe list
Got the tiramisu matcha latte and this might be the best matcha that I’ve ever gotten. I just wish their menu was more clear and accessible. Didn’t even realize there was smoked salmon croissant sandwiches until after I ordered because it was on a small label on the glass. Also couldn’t see the drinks offered until I got to the front of the line. Line came outside but it wasn’t long, maybe 10 min on a Saturday at noon.
Very cozy, intimate café. On a Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, waited online for about 15 minutes before having our order taken. Purchase two matcha tiramisu lattes. They were absolutely perfect. The perfect amount of sweetness, thick, decadent, richness, and sprinkle of Matcha on top. Didn’t try any of the food, but it seems like one girl was working the register and making all these amazing drinks by hand. By about 1230, the line had seemed to die down, but it was very consistent and long for a good hour. Would def come back.
I knew it was going to be good but I wasn’t prepared for it being THIS GOOD!!! I tried their Chasu-don bento box and it was so mouthwateringly good that I wolfed it down before I remembered to take a picture. I haven’t had chasu this delicious and perfectly cooked before! Delectable! I did take a picture of my Onigiri (rice balls) which were also insanely tasty! Worth the price and the visit. Their cold brew is wonderful too. I’m so glad I found this spot! In this Brooklyn area of all places!
Brooklyn Ball is a hip Japanese coffee shop with an eclectic mix of tea, coffee, baked goods, and food. I was thrilled to find they offer unsweetened oat milk, which most places don’t have. I ordered a decaf oat latte with unsweetened oat milk and a vegan chocolate muffin topped with a slice of banana—both were delicious. The baristas were super cool, and the music, featuring Madlib’s Quasimoto samples, added to the chill vibes. It’s the perfect spot for people-watching and enjoying a laid-back atmosphere.
We finally visited Brooklyn Ball Factory which has been on our go-to list but failed many times due to the crowd. The decor is humble with relaxing ambiance but not recommended to dine in for someone who is looking for a comfortable spot. We had their Teriyaki Double Cheese Burger and Osouzai Salad. It was overall authentic with delicate flavors but small portion.
If you're looking for a cute and cozy spot in South Williamsburg, look no further! I absolutely loved this spot and it has been one of my favourite discoveries as of late. What we got: - Hot Matcha Latte - Iced Matcha Latte - Spicy Salmon Mayo Onigiri Final Thoughts: The matcha here comes sweetened and I found the hot version sweeter than iced. It suits my taste just fine, but may be a tad too sweet for some. I also love that their onigiri are made fresh when ordered. Though the filling-to-rice ratio could use much more filling, there was something so comforting and cozy about this simple meal that still made it one of my favourites.
Came for a chai on my way for lunch. Was surprised by the amount of people that were there on the weekday. Service was a bit slow but everyone was super nice. Chai is great if you like it not so sweet (I, however, prefer a sweeter chai).
Absolutely love me some health food at times and Brooklyn Ball serves exactly that. Firstly, walking in, you're greeted by the fresh smell of Japanese cuisine cooking and all you want to do is order the entire menu to boast to everyone that you've been eating healthy for a day. I usually order the grilled salmon bento box for lunch. It includes some edemame, grilled veggies and delicious rice. On occasion I order the grilled salmon on a ciabatta! And holy damn, that sandwich is super tasteful and filling. They have delicious fresh brewed coffees and amazing teas, all at very reasonable prices. They have an awesome outdoor seating space including indoor seating. Everything about this place is spot on and I'm in love that it's steps from my office! If you're looking for healthy, filling and super delicious foods, this is your place.
really good food-loved every bite! just a PSA tho: the prices have increased now (the salmon bowl was $18 - not $14) and i topped it with fried chicken as an add on ($3.5) but they only gave me 2 pieces which i felt wasnt a great portion for the price.
Amazing coffee! Friendly staff. Could be a bit speedier... The wait can be easily 10 minutes with just a couple people in line. But love the whole vibe of this place. Maybe next summer they will open the rooftop for customers???
Paying this much for a coffee (around $8 for their kyoto mizudashi cold brew) should be illegal but I do admit that it’s good stuff
I tried the crispy chicken sandwich and a yuzu ginger tea. Both were very good. I appreciated the edemame, salad and potatoes with the sandwich. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was sparse but sufficient.
Please note that there is NOT a rooftop like many previous photos show! I came here at the recommendation of a friend and was lured in by the prospect of being able to enjoy a fun drink on a rooftop, but alas, there's only a cramped space with what I assume were the tables used in the aforementioned rooftop. I came by around 1:45pm on a Saturday and waited for about 15 min in line before I was able to order. I got the iced Yuzu Ginger Mint Tea, which I really enjoyed. I was able to snag a table and sit with a book while I killed time, but it's definitely not the atmosphere to do work.
Only ordered food here, no drinks. I got the onigiri set & their vegetable miso soup. Chashu pork & salmon onigiri were good. I think their chashu is definitely better than the salmon, and the salmon portion was a bit skimpy. Edamame was good. They need more pickles. Just 2 tiny 1cm x 1cm squares of pickle? Cmon Miso soup was delicious and hearty, would recommend. Can probably get a bit crammed in there. A long line might be a long wait
First of all this isn't a factory. And they definitely don't make balls. The decor, including 2 large rusty metal doors, is intended to romanticise industry. An illusion that only works on people who have no experience of actual factories. In keeping with this theme, the toilet/restroom is reminiscent of a Dickensian coal cellar. Appart for that winging, this tiny place makes a great effort to supply excellent coffee and wholesome, freshly made snacks. Highly recommend!
Disorganized. Food was just ok. Didn’t have the things on the menu as listed. Small place with only four tables. They don’t reinforce a laptop policy, so ppl with food can’t sit and eat.
I only can review the matcha latte. It was good but def on the sweeter side. I like sweet, but this a little too sweet. Maybe ask them to give less sugar next time. It is a very cute place though.
Onigiri is 90% rice 10% filling the tiramisu latte was good though id say its a bit overpriced for what they serve
Been coming to this location for years, since it opened. Recently came in and ordered a drink for my partner and myself and gave $2 tip. The Barista then made the wrong order for my partner, begrudgingly remade it claiming I ordered it wrong (which I didn’t.) she then claimed I was asking for a “free drink”. Just echoing others on here recently who also feel the staff is quite rude. Wish I could’ve taken my tip back. We’ve got a lovely community of locals and it would be nice if the staff made it easy to support the business by just being a bit warmer.
this used to be the best matcha in Brooklyn but the last several times I’ve been there it’s been so pale it’s basically just sweetened milk. If any of the baristas see this please put more matcha in the matcha lattes :( used to be my go to
I was not impressed with the coffee. The space was generally a cluttered mess with sheets thrown over a a few piles of items. The rooftop was closed even on a nice spring day. Not sure how the food is but I peaked around to the prep area and it didn’t give me a lot of confidence. I had one good barista and one that was pretty bad. Neither of them seemed to pleased to be there. Generally they mumbled and avoided greeting customers or making eye contact.
