Opinions de Brooklyn Perk Brooklyn
I really appreciate having this place here to get coffee and work. It is an excellent cafe in all respects.
baristas are all really nice and friendly, music in the shop is usually very listenable. basic coffee shop w few seats but plenty of outlets. very lowkey vibe, reasonable coffee and pastries. not really food per se, but snacks. the shop seems neighborly— there’s often families sitting and chilling.
I moved to the neighborhood in late 2020 and this place has been my favorite coffee place around since I started going at some point in 2021. It just occurred to me that this is one of the only places I can think of from my entire life that has maintained an excellent product for several years AND where every single person I've ever been helped by there is suuuuper nice. That's a big deal, as most of the coffee places I go to in Manhattan around where I work, the employees are perfectly competent and helpful but usually pretty cold. Never change, Brooklyn Perk!
Brooklyn Perk is an excellent coffee shop with ample seating and a lovely ambiance. I received my drink quickly, and there are chargers available. It’s conveniently located near Prospect Park, making it a great spot to grab a coffee before heading to the park. The area also features several cute shops. Highly recommended!
Ordered a small iced black coffee. Be forewarned — it’ll put some hair on your chest :P. Just the way I like it. Staff is superb: warm, inviting, and accommodating. They acknowledged me when I first walked in. The barista noticed I was staring at my cup with a quizzical look when I got my order and asked if everything was fine. I asked if this was the 12 oz and he said it was; did I want a bigger size? I said no, just looked smaller than I anticipated. He said he could give me a bigger size, it was no issue. While I declined, his level of customer service really stood out to me. Appreciate folks like the staff here as they make neighborhoods feel special.
Overall rating: 4.5 Cute coffee spot on Flatbush Ave. unplanned, walked by for a quick drink. I can’t remember what I got but it was a flavored latte and doesn’t seem to show on the menu. I think it was Oreo? But I really don’t know. Anyway it was just okay. I didn’t taste the flavor at all. 1. Nutter butter latte 2. Beef empanada 3. Matcha Beef empanada was good. Matcha was alright. I want to go back and try a classic flavor. Cute ambiance regardless. Great seats for working remotely. Will def be back.
Glad I tried Brooklyn Perk. This is not my normal coffee establishment in Flatbush, but I love trying new little coffee spots. They have a large outdoor seating area located out front on their sidewalk. It's a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee/pastry and do some work on your laptop. A good menu selection!! I'm giving this review 4 stars because I don't like the espresso they use. I didn't get the name of the company, but the espresso was so bitter it was almost sour. Also giving 4 stars because my coffee date loved their iced coffee. I can't say this will be my new normal, but it's a great alternative to my regular spot!
Incredible find. I was on my way home and in tons of traffic due to the Brooklyn Half Marathon, and while in bumper-to-bumper traffic, I saw to the left of me a bunch of little tables and everyone sitting with coffee in hand. The door opens and closes, people going in and out of this coffee spot. I said wow, it has to be good if I see every seat from the outside of the business and look at people sitting and chatting on high stools by the window on the inside. I pulled up to blocks, parked, and walked back to check out this spot, and boy, what a cute cozy, artsy find. I love this spot. The wall decor is beautiful. The place looks very clean. I tried the Chagaccino iced, and WOW, it’s soooo good. I chose oats milk. It was perfect. I didn’t have to add sugar. It was already perfectly sweetened. Not too much, not too little, it was the BOOM! 💥 The woman who took my order was sweet. Also, get this, you get a punch card, and after several drinks are bought, you get a free one. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this spot to meet up with a friend, on a date, or just to read a book. It wasn’t overly loud. It was great. Check out the pics🤍
Great Black Owned Coffee Shop! ☕️ I love stopping in here when I’m walking in that area of Flatbush. They have a great vibe in the store and the staff is nice. The prices were pretty good too. I love that they had some awesome stickers to add to my thermos. There’s also a nice selection of baked goods. It’s a great space between some great shops to grab a drink, sit down, and recharge. Definitely worth popping in!
High key I’ve been enjoying cafes recently. They're the perfect place to go for light refreshments if you’re on the go like me . 🏃🏽♀️ This past weekend I stopped by @brooklynperkcoffee because I had to go and support another Black-owned local business. 🤎 It felt so cozy and warm just like their customer service. I met the owner Joel, shout out to him for his hospitality and welcoming me as a first timer. 🙂 I ordered a large iced chai latte with oat milk and a vanilla cream doughnut. I loved the option of having the additional sweeteners and spices on the counter if needed. ☕️ This café also offers gluten-free and vegan options if desired. They also sell candles, tote bags and cute decal stickers. Check them out if you’re in Flatbush! I love this place. Its Black owned & operated. It’s in my neighborhood. The staff make you feel like you’re neighbors. The ambiance is rustic, modern and earthy. I love how they also support other local businesses. My go-to is the iced matcha late with whip. But I definitely recommend their charcoal iced or hot late. Thank me Later!
Cool shop to check out. Fair prices, and the employees there are FANTASTIC! Always make me feel so at home; especially the gentleman. The cold brew I had was watered down a little too much, something that can be fixed with tasting it at the beginning of the day. They have a good selection of flavored lattes. Their matcha latte is delicious!
Best selection of drinks iced and hot. A variety of coffee blends. Everything done to perfection. Also have a great staff and very nice and polite guests. Vegan pastries available. Can't wait for Co-vid to be over so I can sit in and enjoy a drink and a chat. If your unhappy with your current coffee try this place.
A new and cozy coffee spot. I got a cappuccino to go but there was no pressure to leave. I could have campped on their wifi until ragnarok. Love that a decent coffee spot has opened up to stem the tode of starbucks and bodaga coffee. *UPDATE: Had Lavender Latte, can confirm, was dope.
Good lattes (including decaf) and fun variety of signature drink flavors. The ambience is calm and peaceful. Love the light music in the background. Pastries can be hit or miss; I enjoy the almond lemon loaf. I appreciate that for the most part staff makes drinks correctly and add exactly how much sweetener I request (not more, not less). Once in a while, there is once staff member who seems distracted talking to his friend (which is totally fine), but ends up making a drink wrong then (ie. Adding way more syrup than I asked for or giving me the wrong size drink). Overall, my experience has been good.
Let’s be honest. Based purely on the coffee, this place is mediocre at best. I continue to be surprised at how undiscerning most coffee consumers are. Perhaps it’s the Starbucks effect: dark roasted coffees that are bitter and boring, and require a large amount of additional flavors and/or sweeteners to make them palatable. This later point only adds to the addictive quality. And let’s not forget the presentation! In this age of social media, how the coffee looks is far more important than how it tastes. But in all of this marketing and mayhem, what about the pure and simple coffee? How was it grown, processed, and roasted. And how well does the preparation extract the best from that coffee. In short, how does it taste?! For most people taste/quality is secondary. All they want is that dark, burnt, bitterness drowned in flavors and sweeteners that fulfill the expectation and conditioning of what a good coffee is supposed to be. Do yourself a favor and try the coffee without all the bull. Try an espresso, pour over, or a basic cappuccino. Don’t add any flavors or sweeteners. Then ask yourself, is this any good?
good place to do some work on laptop. wasn’t a fan of the music for a coffee shop (top 40 pop songs) but that’s just preference. coffee is just okay. i never really taste the syrup flavors.
Went to support a neighborhood black-owned coffee shop. The space is nice, modern and well maintained. The staff was welcoming initially, but the guy who took our order was short and rushed us. I ordered the London Fog which is my usual morning drink. I’m used to 2 bags of earl gray but they only used 1, so it didn’t have the kick of caffeine that I was looking for, but it did taste good. My friends had the chai tea latte iced and matcha tea latte hot, which they both enjoyed. The price was reasonable. I’d probably give the shop another try, but have had stronger tea elsewhere.
