Opinions de Café Colette Brooklyn
I have been going to Cafe Collette for a decade. Literally anything on the menu is great. The burger is so good that I have to force myself to try other things and I have never been disappointed. The cocktails are among my favorite in the city also. This place is perfect for quick meals, meeting friends for lunch, dinner dates, I have even celebrated a few birthdays here. The staff is lovely, patient, and efficient. Also it’s hard to argue with its close proximity to the L train and easy walk to so many great bars in the neighborhood.
Very reminiscent of French seating outside. Our food came quickly and the servings were so big that we each took a box home. We arrived right when they opened so there was no wait.
I have lived around the corner from Cafe Colette for ages, but never came in until the pandemic started. It turned out to be one of the few restaurants in my area that was open, and I was thrilled to find a new place to replace some of my usual suspects. My visits were initially infrequent, but eventually, I became a regular. This is not just because of the food (which is scrumptious), but largely because of the staff. Everyone is lovely, from Julie (the owner), who never fails to come over and say hi, to every wait person or host. Everything about it is just right - fantastic cocktails and food, good coffee, and staff and an atmosphere that makes you want to spend hours and hours just hanging out. I am beyond thrilled to have found this place that now feels very much like home. Thanks, Team Colette, for nourishing my body and soul in the last year - it made things that much more bearable.
This is a beautiful neighborhood French bistro/cafe full of atmosphere and life. Their happy hour/afternoon menu is small but carries items to suit everyone (even my vegan girlfriend), and it's equally comfortable to hang out there for a coffee as for a fancy dinner. Right in the heart of the shopping district, too!
I went with two friends because it was close to a laundromat we were using and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. Our server/barista, Eme, was perfect. He brought us what we needed before we asked, gave us extra ice to cool down, and was so quick and concise with everything. I've hardly had such a good and natural server in my experience with restaurants. The food was so beautiful and perfect. We had perfectly fluffy pancakes, crispy hashbrowns, and lovely /crispy sourdough for breakfast. My espresso was perfect and strong. Would come back 10/10 when in NYC again.
I know this is a real Yank-centric viewpoint, but the burger and fries were out of this world good! The establishment was wonderful, and the slew of Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker classic era jazz tunes made for a great dining experience. Great staff, as well!
As visitors to the area staying in Williamsburg, we were looking for somewhere to eat on a Monday night and stumbled upon Cafe Colette. It looked busy (other places we passed looked really quiet!) so we gave it a go. It was a lovely atmosphere, much nicer than the touristy restaurants in Manhattan! We both had a burger and fries which we enjoyed.
Second time here and still loved it! This time we sat at the table right by the door and our server (Arlet? Spelling?) was so sweet and accommodating. We loved her! Can't wait to go back, everyone who we have talked to there is so great 💓
Came here after the BK Mile and they were a bit busy but still managed to get a table. They were very accommodating especially bc I had a stroller and a toddler. I got the tacos and the dressing was tasty. Only thing is, these prices are too high. Idk about half a dozen oysters for $25. Other than that, it was great. Oh! Get the frozen coffee!! Such a sweet treat
Went there to take a small dinner with my boyfriend on Saturday evening, it was pretty hot so we sat outside. It was a nice little corner, the overall atmosphere and service were great, food was little basic but delicious. The guy serving us was very attentive and we left with a good impression about the place in general. Will come back one day during the breakfast time to try :)
Great cozy feel to this restaurant. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and got the fish tacos and grilled octopus. The octopus was fantastic but I just wish the potatoes were a little more mashed but other than that it was a great plate. The fish tacos were perfect. I can tell that any meal would be great here
I've brought my friends to Cafe Colette and it's always enjoyable. To start we had chicken liver parfait and burrata. Then we shared the grilled octopus, lasagna and steak. Each dish was super delicious. We also loved the drinks and the service was attentive. This is a place to go for people who love delicious food and enjoy the drinks with friends.
The french toast is wonderful and a generous portion. The manager gave me a take away container knowing I might not be able to finish the entire plate. He was right because wowzaaa. The coffee is strong to match. Everyone that works here is wonderful as well. I highly recommend because of the atmosphere and the food in on point.
We headed to Williamsburg a bit early before our lunch to get in a walk. The weather was hot and humid so when we walked by Cafe Colette, we decided to stop in for a drink and snack. I ordered the spiked frozen coffee and loved it. I would return just for that. We also devoured one of their delicious croissants. Kaz took very good care of us We’ll be back on our next Brooklyn visit.
Food and drinks were solid and service was great. The tall kid with curly hair was so chill and got us everything we needed. I forgot his name. They accommodated an impromptu birthday party of 8 people and were so nice. Will be back
Came across this place when a couple of friends were visiting. Spent most of the day at the East River and were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. My friends and I are more than happy to find this restaurant. The fish tacos and the oysters were amazing along with great atmosphere. It did get busy but service was on point. Will be back again.
Sensational place! Super cute atmosphere, and the food was amazing!
If your on the fence about this place, do yourself a favor and go just for the grilled cheese, egg on top. Most satisfying grilled cheese of my life. It really changed the game of grilled cheese. Colette Rolls paired nicely, amazing texture and satisfying, unified flavors. Highly recommend.
I celebrate my birthday a month ago here, I just Walked by, the ambience great seems from the outside so we just say come in, the service was stunningly great, the make me feel super good, the food was amazing very cozy home vibes and even my friends love it! So highly highly recommend if u are looking for a nice place to dine around 🫶🏽 u guys
The perfect place to spend a nice lunch/dinner with friends!🙌🏼 Cafe Colette definitely invites you to grab some drinks and enjoy a mouth watering plates perfect to share; the grilled octopus and the Mussels is a must, full of flavor and the portions has the perfect size (thanks to the staff for the recommendations and for pair so good the food with the drinks)🥂 With a relax ambience and nice spots to be seated outside, nothing better for this weather.🔅 Thank you Cafe Colette for a lovely evening.💯
This is the absolute best spot to grab brunch around Williamsburg. The food is great and portions are huge. Ideal for sharing. There is space to have larger groups and the vibe and service is just great. The French toast is perfect. Huge with great texture full of flavor inside and crunchy outside. It was two of us digging in and we were completely stuffed just with the French toast. The banh mi was also stunning. Really juicy chicken, great sauce and good balance with the veggies. The bread was also really good and fluffy. Drinks are also great. Don’t miss it if you’re around.
We were here a few years ago and unfortunately had the limited menu as they were transitioning between brunch and dinner... this time I made sure we had an actual meal. I ordered a cocktail, shard the fennel salad, ordered a white bean soup and the risotto. All the food was amazing and outside porch seating was fine as the weather was okay for it today!
Absolutely delicious food! I had the roast chicken, which had crispy skin and juicy tender meat. The cous cous was fluffy and fragrant and complimented the cucumber well. And the pork belly was equally crispy and yummy. Definitely satisfied. On top of this, the waiter with the coral pink shirt was super friendly with 10/10 service. Thank you!
Popped in here on a Saturday morning around 11:30 with a group of four - wasn’t sure how long the wait would be, but was able to get seated right away in a corner booth. Ordered eggs over easy with hash (the hash comes as sort of a brick vs chopped up has browns, but is good), my sister got the strata. We split French toast side which was delicious - very fresh berries on it. Only thing was the coffee was slow to come out. Would come here again for drinks and dinner.
Came here for breakfast and ordered the croque monsieur (I think?) with a coffee. I wish it were a little more affordable (~30 including tip), but it was certainly delicious and it was a big toast so it made for 2 meals. We had to sit outside since we were walk-ins but the inside seating looked super cozy and cute! Would come back with a reservation.
We were looking for some light bites before a heavy meal and this cafe caught our attention. It’s located in the center of Williamsburg, which was super easy to find. Although it’s surrounded by millions of coffee shops but this restaurant still stands out. We really like the relax vibe and the bright decoration style, which is all you need on a Saturday morning. The Croque monsieur has a huge portion and good for someone who’s hungry; egg and hush was decent except the radish was a bit spicy; and avocado toast was nice as well. The place was not that crowded when we arrived- not sure if you need a reservation.
The Baked Eggs was the best shakshuka I've ever had in my life. Their version is a little unique. It's kinda spicy tbh but I loved that; it was full-flavored and deep. Their frozen coffee specialty is delicious, although it is very sweet. The avocado toast was very delicate and well-seasoned.
Absolutely great. Warm atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff and the food is amazing. I tried most things on the menu and they are ALL GOOD. I loved the white fish crostini, the crudo, the roast chicken, the cheeseburger and the fluke with salad. Everything is fresh and delicious. All the desserts were amazing. Highly recommend !
Came here yesterday for breakfast with my mom who is in town visiting and had a great time. Our server (a tall guy with glasses) was awesome and really went out of his way to make sure our experience was a good one. Definitely get the Banh mi. The fries are incredible.
Very nice place. They were very busy when we arrived, but the service was excellent. The food didn't take long, and the service and attention were very good (the tables were very close together). The coffee and food were delicious. 10/10. The prices are very reasonable. All what we order was so yummy 😋
Cafe Colette is gorgeous, sleek, and tasteful. A wonderful, intimate spot to grab a cocktail or delicious meal. Amazing service and welcoming atmosphere, definitely a lovely option for a romantic evening or dinner out with friends!
Such a wonderful, vibey space for a few drinks and a meal while playing cards with my friend. Attentive staff and good retro dance music. The fries were terrific, as was the squash pasta I had. The wine tends to be more expensive per glass than nearby ($15-17). Nice bathroom too, I’ll include since they’re usually not in the reviews already 😄
This place is so special to my husband and I. This is typically our Sunday morning breakfast spot. The staff there is so helpful and kind. I haven't even mention the food yet -- perfect. I can't believe it took me this long to finally become a regular.
My friend and I came in for Thanksgiving brunch. The host greeted the white couple in front of us and completely ignored my friend and I so eventually we sat ourselves at the bar. The host also doubled as the barista and it seems as if she intentionally also did not make my chai latte while making every other ticket. Besides that weirdness to the only black people in the establishment; the food was great and the bartender was super pleasant and attentive.
This place is cute! Excellent French toast and bacon. Super crispy egg and cheddar breakfast sando on a soft roll. Service was good and the food was very fresh.
We spent around $100 for 2 people and totally worth the experience. Everything was so delicious and stuff were kind enough to make us feel happy. They kept asking how’s the food and if there’s anything we need etc I’d highly recommend Burger, fava dip, and octopus. The sourdough bread they use is also AMAZINGLY delicious. I feel so bad that I didn’t ask where they got the bread:(
Honestly such a joyful start to our day. If I could give the staff 10 stars I would. Everyone was the perfect combination of friendly and helpful, while providing space for a cozy brunch. McKenna was a delightful greeting and Veronica was a fantastic server throughout. The food was superb. Everything was very high quality and I will think about those hash browns for a long time. Congrats to the team here!
We have been to Colette several times, usually during the week early when they open. We went recently on a Saturday and the food was just as delicious with great service. We ate outdoors and enjoyed the nice weather in Williamsburg. The hash and eggs are never a disappointment. We also like the fact that we are able to get the eggs poached and switch out the hash brown patty triangles for the fries. Either one is delicious! The coffee and Irish coffee is amazing as well. Other standouts are the breakfast tacos, burger and French toast. Our server also suggested a slice of chocolate cake with my coffee which was fantastic. Cannot wait to go again!
Stopping in here for lunch and was able to be seated at the bar. My friend and I shared a burger cooked medium and WOW! It was so good. ❤️ We also ordered teas that came out in the most adorable containers. 🫖 The atmosphere is beautiful. There isn’t a ton of seating in the front room so I recommend making a reservation. It looks like there was also a back room that is open on occasion. Service was a bit slow, with only two people serving the whole restaurant, but despite that it was still a 5 star experience for me!
The space is larger than I thought as we sat in a back room that was reminiscent of a greenhouse. The space filled up which was nice to see! The staff was friendly and the drinks were delicious (one of the best bloodys I’ve had in a while). The food portions are (for the most part) quite large so prepare yourself. For what you get, the pricing is very reasonable. I would cafe Colette as a comforting easy brunch spot!
You can just start with appetizers and be satisfied but everything on the menu sounds very yummy. Their hummus will blow your mind, it is so soft that it melts in your mouth. Their bread it’s so good that you just don’t want to stop eating it. I love that their menu has an eclectic choices of dishes from different cuisines. Aka green curry and fish and chips. The waiters and waitresses all extremely attentive.
Yum yum yummmm! The food was so nice, we got the Caesar salad with a side of fries and also french toast. Everything was unique and yummy and I will definitely be coming back
Came to the neighborhood for brunch and everywhere we went, it seemed packed. We didn’t even bother to put out names down. We walked by this brunch place and saw a few tables outside getting cleaned up and asked about the wait time. There wasn’t any, so we got seated outside immediately. I order the French toast with berries and it honestly was VERY filling. I only ended up eating once slice. I would recommend only getting one slice (it’s cheaper but I see why that’s an option now- because it’s a lot). The berries were sweet and fresh. I would recommend this place for a nice weekend brunch. Very central to the waters, brewery, etc.
Bananaa foster pancakes omg. Do not give in to smorgusbourgs siren calls enroute, save the space in your stomach! Fabulous decor and personable staff - Head waiter has a but that could balance a checkbook doh, if you know what I mean. Creative drink menu, comfy seating but small table space so leave the laptop at home. Great for a quick drink or bite but also for post kids birthday brunch with the fam. Not too loud, great scene of people just trying to eat their Sunday scariest away - Colette is effective
The food was okay, nothing extravagant or amazing but good overall. The vibe though is amazing. I love the paintings on the wall, the booths, low lights. It's very intiment and can get a little loud but the ambiance is perfect for a night out with friends. The drinks are also very good and I recommend the chocolate tart!
Super cute atmosphere! 2 of us went in without a reservation on a Friday night and were able to get seats at the bar. I ordered the Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts side. Both were delicious. I had a glass of red to go with dinner. Their wine menu wasn’t too big but had good options. The bartender took good care of us. Would make a great date night place!
What a cozy café! I loved the decor. It was nice that the menu was simple but still had great options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I would love to come back again. The salmon bowl was great and the signature burger with fries was very good.
I popped in for lunch as had received recommendations from a couple of people. I chose to sit inside so I could appreciate the decor and feel of the place. I ordered the fish taco’s and an orange juice. The taco’s were delicious, the mahi mahi was so tasty and the chipotle sauce was perfect. Would have liked more choice on the menu, but perhaps there would be more to choose from if i had gone for dinner service or brunch instead.
Quaint and cozy place in Brooklyn with a very cool, homely vibe.. The staff is super kind and sweet and so is the ambience.. Ordered Avocado Toast with Egg, Grilled Cheese and Fries along with a few cocktails.. The food was good and the fries were just exceptional… Definitely coming back here for seconds…
Casual American bistro dining with good, no-vanity ambiance and retro interiors. The food is not worth traveling for but fresh, simple and comforting. The menu is great for sharing, and I’d recommend the fava bean dip and the bone marrow. Unfortunately, both the steak and the cacio e pepe pasta are bit over cooked and bland. The service was so so, with servers keeping on coming to take unfinished plates away. There’s also a patio for outdoor dining.
Really enjoy dinners here. Usually not too crowded. Space at the bar to wait with a cocktail or coffee (and almost always a very attentive bartender). A smallish menu but still eclectic. Excellent burger; excellent fish tacos. Servers have been reliably friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. A high-ceilinged room with cozy tables for two.
We went to Cafe Colette for the French toast and it was well worth the visit just for that! Two large slabs of fluffy bread with a crisp outer layer and just the right level of cinnamon and sweetness. They also give a generous portion of maple syrup to add even more flavour to the dish. One of the best french toasts I've had. Their oat flat white was a solid 6 or 7 but their iced oat matcha latte was easily a 9. The breakfast Sandwich was good but not great and is the reason I'm giving 4 not 5 stars.
I’ve been to Cafe Colette a few times over the years and it’s always just okay. After this last visit I don’t think I’ll be coming back. The food is alright - nothing special. This time I got the chicken Caesar and the chicken was pretty chewy. We also tried to track down the server to get the check and, despite it being the middle of a weekday and not busy, couldn’t get anyone’s attention. I went up to the bar to ask the guy there (tall guy, glasses) and he told me to ask someone else. It’s not the worst customer service I’ve experienced, but given how many nice restaurants there are (from both a food and a service perspective) I wouldn’t recommend it.
great ambiance, but the food was pretty bland, we got the egg sandwich. pancakes were pretty dry/overcooked, hash browns were good. we got iced oat latte that we didn’t like very much. the servers were very nice though. overall: space is nice, food is mid.
I’ve always loved this place, but unfortunately this visit was a letdown. My pancakes first came out burnt. The waiter kindly replaced them, which I appreciated, but the new plate arrived without maple syrup. Since no one checked in for about 20 minutes, I wasn’t able to ask until my pancakes were already cold. By then, the meal just wasn’t enjoyable anymore. I know this restaurant can do better, so I hope this was just an off day.
My friend and I went here the other day for some brunch. The waitress was nice but not super attentive. The food was definitely not worth the cost— it was overpriced for one slice of toast per person. I got the eggs and hash and it was not worth $17. There was too much random presentation and not enough actually filling food. My friend says it’s the same for her food— she got an avocado toast with an egg. I also ordered a frozen coffee which was tasty. The vibes of the place are nice.
Decided to take my mom somewhere local for Mother's Day. We went to Cafe Colette, and instead of getting a delicious lunch, we got diarrhea. The burger we got (ordered medium) came out as rare as a tartare and was inedible. The center was still raw while the outside looked fine. Only after a couple of bites did we realize how disgustingly undercooked it was. I was stupid enough to only take the picture after it was taken away. The waiter did everything he could to remedy the situation (thank you for trying), but the damage was done. Needless to say if I want raw ground beef, I'll just go to my supermarket next time. I'm not going to be giving this place another chance anytime soon. The music was too loud, at least if you actually wanna talk to your mom on Mother's Day. Even though they have more staff members than patrons, it took close to 20 minutes to get me a cold brew. The salmon farro bowl was ok. And my dad did enjoy his fried chicken salad, so there's that. But if you have a limited amount of items on your menu, everything should be spot on, the burger was absolute trash, and that it was this rating is based on.
Pretty average American diner vibes. Should’ve walked out the minute we entered. Nothing special here - regular corner joint with a nicely done bar. Overpriced food for average quality. Had the breakfast sandwich and avocado toast with cappuccino. Let’s just say it was $50 down the drain. Was oddly annoyed with the tall server with specs - he was swiping plates off the table far too fast, had zero manners or courtesy to us and could barely break a smile.
Medium flop. Basic at best. It’s giving 2 stars. Disregard the rating if you’re just here to find a cute instagram spot, if so you’ll be right at home here. Cute interior and exterior and aesthetically pleasing design. Would love to see this adorable neighborhood cafe bring up their service standards. Visited for Sunday brunch and was disappointed all across the board - we could also hear other guests complaining of long wait times on things as simple as coffee and lattes or water refills. The Croque Monsieur was average, flavorful and prepared properly, but was plated poorly. The poached eggs and smoked salmon dish was again, just okay. The side salad that came with the smoked salmon was a crime against humanity. For dessert I tried the vanilla bean crème brûlée hoping it would cleanse me of this average experience. It did not, it too was just “good enough”; nothing from the dining experience stood out as something I would order again.
The service and atmosphere are good…however, the food was bland. I had the avocado toast with egg…seriously had almost zero taste and it was $18. The food is mediocre at best. They really need to add some flavor or really anything. Pepper would help. The French toast tasted like cake. It was like a 1/4 loaf of sweet bread. Nearly everything had butter or milk in it so this isn’t a good option if you’re lactose intolerant. The hash browns were really good. $$$$$ for three people and we didn’t even have alcohol. Honestly, not going back. This place is mediocre, the epitome of average, but I took away a star bc it’s SO expensive. I won’t go back. There are better places.
I would definitely not recommande going there. We entered as a group of 4 ladies and one of us was pregnant and few second after a group of 3 male enter and I was very shocked to see that they first helped the guy group to seat order and everything, leaving us standing up for 5 min waiting … very weird attitude because anyway we were first so it would have make more sense to seat us first and on top one of us was pregnant. It then took very long for the order to be taken and the ginger ale I order never came … it was however on the check at the end. We almost had to stand to get the waiter attention to request a coffee. Food wise nothing crazy and definitely overpriced for the food served, I think there are plenty of better restaurant in the area with much better service and cheaper.
For some reason, my seat was next to the radiator and it was HOT. My backpack and jacket were hot to the touch from leaning against the wall, where the heater is behind it. You can’t tell the heater is there just from looking at it. Please don’t seat people there. The waiter kinda laughed it off when I mentioned it. I wouldn’t go back for that reason alone. Food and coffee were fine. They don’t have jam for toast, if that matters at all. After seeing more challenging reviews, I lowered my stars. My hotel recommended the place so I didn’t check. Very unfortunate.
Came here before with my friend and really enjoyed it. We came back today for his birthday and I went early to tell the employee working that it was my friends birthday and to please come out with a little chocolate cake so I can sing him happy birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise. We sat down outside and after we got our coffee we were ready to order and after about 35-40 min of waiting I went inside to ask that same server if we can order. Another person came out. She seemed to have a bit of an attitude and took our order. After we got our food and finished eating we weren't serviced again. Asked for the check and I'm expecting for my earlier request to be remembered. . . Nothing. Didn't love that. Didn't really love that I asked for something to be charged to have a nice surprise for my best friends birthday and that couldn't be accomplished. Service was slow, not a lot of people around the time we went (2:30pm) we left at 4:30 after slow service. Didn't want to continue our night there. Really let down.
Last week we came here for dinner on a very cold evening. The restaurant was almost empty, with only one loud table in the corner. We were told we could choose any table, but when we asked to rotate it for more convenient for us to sit more comfortably, the server strongly refused. This felt unnecessary and disappointing given how empty the place was. A bit more flexibility and consideration for guests would be appreciated.
