Opinions de Elia Restaurant Brooklyn
A very cozy restaurant with incredible food and good wine. My friends and I were immediately impressed with friendly vibe of the place and the attentive service. Will definitely be returning here to try their fig martini.
Cool ambience, very clean, delicious food, friendly staff that you can tell are smiling even though they’re wearing masks, and nice portions. Thank you Elia for the great dinner and a special thank you to my server, Ryan.
One of my favorite Greek restaurants, hands down! 🇬🇷🇬🇷
I have dined at Elia for many years and has always been a go to neighborhood spot of mine. One cannot go wrong with the menu options. Some favorites include the roasted beet salad with whipped goat cheese and candied walnuts, avgolemono soup and the chicken entree might be one of the best out there. In a neighborhood with such a diverse array of global food options this should definitely be at the top of your list, especially if you are looking for more than just a casual take out meal. Staff and service are excellent, as well as the cocktails. Always a pleasure a dining at Elia.
Everything about this.place was amazing. Our waiter Nick made us and our Granddaughter right at home. I will definitely will he back there with my family and friends. Thank you to the while staff from the vallet to the chef.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Elia in Brooklyn, and it was truly an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, and the welcoming ambiance of the restaurant made us feel right at home. The menu at Elia is nothing short of incredible. The variety of dishes available is impressive, and each one we tried was better than the last. The ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared, with a true attention to detail that made each dish stand out. From the classic Greek appetizers to the main courses and desserts, everything was simply delicious. The octopus, lambchops, and branzino were some of my favorites!!!! But it wasn't just the food that impressed us. The service at Elia was exceptional. I highly recommend Elia to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Brooklyn. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner for two or a family celebration, Elia is the perfect choice. Five stars all around!
Amazing service and hospitality! This place had been on mine/wife list for such a long time and only wished we went sooner! Food is delicious! Staff is warm and amazing! Have been back a few times and will be returning soon!
Great Greek Place. The owner is great. Bartender young woman was lovely, we were here for a doctor's meeting and Niko served our group. Food is great, we had great Greek wines, nice desserts. Appies are amazing, try the grilled octopus, saganaki, greek salad, galamari, and lambshank, lamb chops, or grilled whole fish selections which is fresh, charred on the outside and steamy inside.
Overwhelmingly accommodating staff (Cedric the French waiter was awesome, knowledgeable and patient) and excellent authentic Greek food. My eyes were bigger than my stomach because of the perfectly balanced menu. I enjoyed everything (except for Greek Salad-but really that's hit or miss depending on the tomato freshness). Always grab the Amethysto bottle of wine. Perfectly balanced for all appetizers on the menu. This place is a pleasant surprise for this local boy.
Pete was a an awesome host. He treats us like family every time we head to this Greek gem located in the heart of Brooklyn. Everything on the menu is cooked to perfection. Some of my favorite dishes are the lamb chops, the lamb ravioli and the lamb shank (which falls off the bone and melts in your mouth). Their fish is out of this world and the chef adds his own personal flare to every dish. I look forward to my next meal at Elia and having Pete there to open us with open arms and a lively personality.
Recently dined at Eliá and it was a delight! The food was exquisite, service impeccable, and the valet made parking a breeze. Overall, a superb experience. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!
Cosy restaurant with great service and high quality food. The appetizer sampler offered a variety of dips and pita for sharing. The grilled octopus was tender and delicious. Moussaka was rich, creamy and filling. Highly recommend.
Love this Greek gem in Bay Ridge! Recently came with friends for dinner and we all enjoyed our entire Elia experience. Food was excellent - Greek salad, flaming cheese, spreads, bread and even their olive oil! Lamb shank was enormous, enough to take some home for one lucky dog! Whole fish was was prepared simply and totally hit the spot. Elia continues to be a delightful destination. Highly recommended
wonderful food! nice service. the place was unexpectedly small, but very cozy and friendly, more casual then fancy, I would say family oriented, but you can do friends gathering, couples, anything really. definitely would go there again
My absolute favorite restaurant for over 20 years. Every meal I've had has been exceptional. Service is exceptional. Super fresh and delicious food and lovely ambiance.
Excellent food and attentive service. Recommend
Food and staff was amazing, valet was very quick and attentive! Five stars
Do not sleep on Elia!! This restaurant is one of my new favorites and is such a great neighborhood spot! We went super early on a weeknight so it wasn’t crowded at all. The atmosphere is like a Greek taverna with a little fireplace which is a great touch. The food was the highlight here: the salad (which normally I would not highlight but was truly incredible) was so good that I’ve been making a version of it at home, the octopus was perfectly cooked and the red pepper feta dip was absolutely addictive with the fresh pita bread. The mousakka was solid. Go here immediately and get all the dips and all the apps!!
We were there on Valentines day. Great taste for everything we ordered. But it was cold to sit next to the door especially we had a baby dinning with us.
it was my first time trying Elia restaurant and I was wondering why i have never tried it before. so far the best greek food in the area to be honest. the fish dish was absolutely delicious. only one thing its little salty but that’s my taste so.. Highly recommended.
My experience at this place was simply exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the unique decor that created a cozy yet elegant ambiance. Every detail had been carefully thought out, from the dim lighting to the decorative elements that added a touch of sophistication. The background music was perfectly selected, at a volume that allowed for effortless conversation while also adding to the overall enjoyment. It created a pleasant atmosphere that contributed to the overall experience. I started the evening with a Negroni with mezcal, a bold choice that resulted in a surprisingly balanced and delicious cocktail. The seafood appetizer of the day was a burst of fresh and exquisite flavors, clearly showcasing the chef's talent in masterfully combining ingredients. The tomato salad was a refreshing delight, highlighting the quality of the ingredients used. However, the highlight of the night was the dish of tuna with wheat and chanterelle mushrooms. Chef Ivan showcased his mastery in creating a combination of flavors and textures that was simply spectacular. The smoky touch added a unique and indescribable dimension that had to be experienced to be understood. The company of my daughter made this dinner even more special, and the photos we took perfectly capture the beauty of each dish. I want to extend my sincere praise to the chef and the entire team behind this culinary experience. Their attention to detail and passion for cooking were reflected in every dish that arrived at our table. In summary, my experience at this restaurant was simply perfect. The decor, music, food, and service all came together to create an unforgettable evening. Without a doubt, I recommend everyone to visit this place and enjoy a culinary experience that exceeds all expectations. Bravo to Chef Ivan and his team!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent wines. Excellent atmosphere. I ordered the New York Steak (medium). Highly recommend. I was able to try the lamb chops which were just as good. Our table loved the wines. As well as the octopus appetizer. Every dish was delicious. You cannot go wrong.
Delicious, delicious and delicious! Their baklava is to die for ! Had a great time , the service is amazing ( I had a young lady in blue top as my server ) and she was awesome 👏 I will most definitely come back again :)
Delicious. Quality Greek cuisine.

Delicious. Quality Greek cuisine.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Service is impeccable, drinks are delicious. And the food is truly the best Greek/Mediterranean I’ve ever had. Could not recommend more.
First time eating at this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. Friendliest staff we've ever had in a restaurant (all staff was amazing, but I want to give a big shoutout to Niko in particular!!!) My friend and I enjoyed the food as well. The octopus and the pork ribs were well seasoned and tender. Nice and fresh tzatziki (I will be honest, the pita was slightly burned but it still had flavour). Totally recommend eating here.
We went to Elia on Friday night (2/6). It was not our first time there, but we hadn't been there in quite some time. From the minute we walked through the door, it was a great night. We were greeted by Nick with a big hello. We ordered Elia's specialty fig martini cocktail which never disappoints. After that we had hummus with pita bread, Saganaki (fried cheese), and grilled calamari. For our entrees we got grilled shrimp and grilled Branzino. Everything was absolutely delicious! On numerous occasions Nick came over to check on us and make sure everything was to our liking. We had a great night and will definitely be back.
My wife Annette and I discovered Elia a few weeks ago with a large group (6 couples). We loved it so much we returned for our Valentine's dinner. We had several of the appetizers like the Octopus, Spanakopita, Tuna special, special salad, etc. All were delicious! A good Cabernet accompanied dinner and then we had two desserts, the rice pudding which is amazing, and the chocolate special. We can't say enough about the service, food & atmosphere. We will be back soon! Thanks again!
What a beautiful experience i had Stake Greek salad and famous grilled octopus was delicious! Niko was professional great job Yasu!
We enjoyed Elia Restaurant in Bayridge so much. My first time there. The service and food were exceptional. They were attentive and just wonderful. It’s a must visit!
Elia is a true gem in Bay Ridge! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, elegant atmosphere that feels like a slice of Greece. The seafood dishes are outstanding—especially the grilled branzino. The Greek salad is refreshing and the greek wines pair beautifully with the meal. Elia delivers a consistently exceptional experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Greek cuisine with a modern twist!

Food is great, service is not that great. For the group of 9 ppl, 20% tip was added, but services was not good... i dont think it's fair to the customers.. tip is voluntary. 20 -25% is the norm in NYC, but we expect service, which we didnt have here at Elia.
My family came here to eat and it was a wonderful experience. I got the lamb and it was so tender it fell right off the bone. The spreads were delicious. The service was great. I forgot the waiters name but he was very personable. Very nice and very knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant definitely had a family friendly kind of vibe. Mostly adults but it was very pleasant to eat at the restaurant. They offer valet parking.
Took longer to get handed the menus than to get the food after ordering. Had to ask a second time for my drink order after it was missing when everyone else at the table got theirs. Out of our party of 6, everyone enjoyed their food.
Very nice place. Not sure if tablet menu is the right choice for this particular place. I feel like real menu would be better for the atmosphere. Other than that, the food, service and atmosphere were great. I had grilled shrimps - highly recommend them.

I expected much more from this restaurant. Although it has been around for years and it is even rumored to have had a Michelin Star, I never hear much about it. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high, but my experience was not too great. Nothing about the menu actually jumps out at you and the husband and wife proprietors need to learn more about customer service.
Have to edit my review from last year due to good food but service with an attitude this evening. Server, Nick, is rude, impatient, and consistently “fires back” in reply to polite requests such as needing the food menu, dessert menu, and the check in pretty rare unprofessionalism: “I was already going to do it!” My friend politely asked what baklava ice cream is. “Baklava ice cream, you know!” I asked for the credit card payment proof (aka non-itemized) receipt but he didn’t know how to do it, “I already gave it (the itemized) to you!” They’re different. Fine. Personality’s naturally combative. Being spoken down to like you’re both on the street versus toward your customers professionally on shift as a server is off-putting. Choose a different job. Bartender and runners were respectful. Menu hasn’t changed much in the last 5 years, but the specials were a nice addition. Service was off-putting and have passed Elia over a few times when inviting friends to visit the neighborhood; plethora of options with better service on 3rd. We opted for the filo encrusted salmon (a la carte menu) again and octopus salad (special). 2023 - Wonderful formal (tablecloth) dining experience. Branzino was an excellent portion and perfectly seasoned. (When we dined, there was a pungent sewer odor in the restaurant. We felt they could’ve closed for the courtesy if it’s customers. I believe they’ve since fixed it.) Great location.
I found the place overpriced and disappoint thing. While it does have valet parking we did not find the cuisine all that special. Portions was small. It is a nice formal place and there is little noise between tables and service is excellent. I would guess if you liked the food it would be a good thing. We found that we get better value at other Greek and Middle Eastern or Mediterranean restaurants in Bay Ridge at far lower prices with similar if not better cuisine.
While the food is great it is very expensive and not really authentic. For example the lamb chops tasted good but were way overpriced and not grilled like Greek lamb chops. Lots of dishes were actually similar to Greek but made in a different way, I assume to justify the high price. For example, the rizogalo (rice pudding) on the menu was the least Greek thing and was only rizogalo in name and was way over priced. I enjoyed the meal but I really wouldn't go back as I've eaten at better Greek places that were more authentic and a lot cheaper.

I usually hate writing reviews. But I honestly feel the need to. Today I Went for dinner to celebrate my younger brothers birthday today. We order a couple of appetizers and some main dishes. For the appetizers we ordered the spread platter per the waiters recommendation. When we received it, it came with 2 long hairs in two of the dips. We kindly asked the waiter to switch it and he did. Usually, when these type of situations happen the restaurant tries to make it up for the bad moment, whether it’s by giving something for free or simply giving a discount. In this case, nothing was done at all. When I finished my meal I had a talk with the waiter that served us. I did mention that it’s the duty of the waiter to make sure that these type of situations do not happen (specifically mentioning that he should check the food before serving) he didn’t acknowledge his mistake and only said “we always check the food before serving” and then I had to remind him that our food had 2 really long hairs until he acknowledge it. The most surprising thing of all is that they still charged us 20% service fee plus a six dollar fee for paying with a credit card. I would have expected the restaurant to at least have done something to make it up their mistake. But they didn’t. Would I go back? Probably not.
I’m going to be honest here and state the fact that their food is really good. Flavorful and touching all the right notes and everything. However the service is so bad that I was going to get up and leave before the main course showed up. At one point I was going to go to the bar to get my drinks myself. They are clearly understaffed and the half of the staff they have doesn’t understand the concept of “prioritizing.” I watched my drink, a glass of wine, sat at the bar for more than 10 minutes while the wait staff was serving another table (seated after us) their bottle of wine. Same thing happened with our soft drinks. I had to ask for the dessert menu after the owner/manager checked on me, (when my partner was in the restroom), to see if we needed anything else. Clearly we had our main course done, it’s only expected to ask for after dinner drinks/dessert. Not here. After our dessert, I asked the check from the owner/manager again, and watched him walk around aimlessly and deliver some other table’s check before ours even though they asked after us. I don’t know if they had something against us as a table or just having a bad night, but the service was simply unacceptable. Bussers were kind and on point though! So, it’s not a staff issue but rather an issue with the management trying to save money by being understaffed.

I got a moldy olive in my martini and the bartender was super apologetic of that fact that the owner makes them use vodka instead of vermouth or gin to save a couple of bucks. I went once pre-covid and saw him shoo patrons out to overturn tables. The food isn’t even authentically Greek. Saw a review down below that emphasized that they are Michelin reviewed and not awarded. It made me LOL. They have a great point! I won’t support mean and sketchy business owners. I wish I could give zero stars!
We walked in with high expectations, I admit, but shouldn't expectations be high considering all the rave reviews? Listen I'm no food critic, okay? I'm not, but the food was simply bad. It was all under seasoned and "head scratchingly" expensive. The photos looked amazing on the iPad menus so our party of 5 had a difficult time deciding on dishes but when the entrees were placed in front of us, we had to ask the waiter if there was some mistake? For example, one of the things we ordered was a beautifully depicted whole fish (from the iPad menu). What was served however was only part of the midsection of a fish just below the head and substantially above the tail. The response from the waiter was, "That's all we have", and then he walked off. We all tried a piece.... verdict? A cat would have trouble eating that. We also tried the Greek inspired paella... once again, looked amazing in the photo, but underwhelming and under seasoned. And again, the ravioli?... c'mon guys. What's going on? Are you being sabotaged by the staff? Do they want you to close down? Seriously, don't waste your money. You will regret it if you have an experience like we had. Instead, we wished we were at Mezze over on 13th Ave. Now that's amazing authentic Greek food done the right way. No misleading photos or subpar food served there. Its unpretentious comfort food and half the price to boot. Sorry Elia... we were excited to try what you could do with the Greek cuisine - especially when we saw that you "apparently" earned a "Michelin Star", which is a hallmark of fine dining quality and restaurants around the world. Holy cow, was someone paid off? Incredibly disappointing. Seriously, if it continues like that, you will need Gordon Ramsay there to scream at the chefs and staff if you want to save your business. Good luck.
The owner was very rude to us. Do not go here. It’s overpriced for what you get. So many better places in Brooklyn.
Don't do pickup orders on weekends. Can't even place an order over the phone. Instead of pivoting to supply the demand they take the easy way out. Bad management decision. Now you lost business to another restaurant. Congrats, you played yourself. It's always something with this place they even closed for like 3 weeks so they can be inconsistent as well. For these reasons, I will not be returning or recommending this establishment.
Overpriced ! The appetizer was a joke for 6 people! This very large platter comes out with a smear of 3 different types of appetizers we ordered in the center. It was embarrassing since I took my family out for dinner.! The lemon chicken was supposed to be grilled It was a small slimy thigh with mushy over cooked vegetables! I asked for lemon slices for our water which I asked 3 times. Out comes dried slices that were brownish in color on the rims ! Should have been thrown out ! Left there hungry!
Used to be our go to place, but prices have become ABSURD. Owner doesn't care about loyalty or keeping long-time patrons. Male server doesn't even know to serve women first. With those prices, you should get better service.
