Good afternoon everyone! I'm Harry and my beloved mother is named Maria. I am posting this message under my beloved mother's account since I seem to be having trouble with mine. I in fact just finished eating Haitian food for the very first time inside Grandchamps and I am having such an absolute marvelous time inside the establishment. The food was so delicious and I must say Grandchamps compliments Haitian food so well. It was an astonishing pleasure eating at Grandchamps and the roast pork sandwich that I had there was the best roast pork sandwich that I ever had in my life. The sweet fried plantains that came inside the sandwich were out of this world and the dish was very creative. The beef patty was delicious too and only if you guys would have saw how empty I left my plate. Darn! I actually forgot to take pictures of the aftermath of me eating the entire sandwich and patty too! The female waitress named Samantha that recommended me the dish I had and helped with my order was an angel as well as her coworkers whom made great eye contact with me and gave wonderful smiles. The inside of the restaurant was splendid, clean, and the atmosphere was Divine. Awesome and great selection of the R&B and soul music that played from there cool sound system. Thank you Grandchamps for your great hospitality and blessings as well as much love to my entire Caribbean people no matter which island from the Caribbean they are from! Bye Grandchamps!
#SimplytheBest Tassot Cabrit en sauce I've had outside of my mom's house. #Flavorful to say the least. Portion was satisfying. Love the decor and it stands as a diamond in the "not-as-rough" as one might think BedStuy. Service was friendly and accommodating. Big ups to the chef and staff. Will be back because this was leaps & outta bounds beyond the typical Haitian offerings we've unfortunately had to grin & bear. #LocalGems #BrooklynsFinest #GoodEats #FoodieFind #AuthenticAyiti #RecoveringKnowItAll
I can’t say enough about this place the food is delicious!!!! This is my 10th time here and tried everything in the menu!!! I lived in Haiti for 2 years and know exactly what Haitian food tastes like and this is authentic and super delicious. Not only that everyone here’s is nice respectful the atmosphere/ambience is lively with beautiful wooden tables green-plants there’s an outside area .You can buy some Haitian authentic wooden kitchenware tees books and a few times there’s was a dj playing Haitian music !! What’s not to love . Love love love the food !!!!! Their griot ( pork sandwich) out of this world ! I can’t count how m any times I’ve had it .comes with pickled cabbage inside and a really delicious dipping sauce every bite heaven! I usually get fresh salad on the side sooo fresh and delicious 5 starts+++++
Where do I even begin, oh my! The weather got me lazy today so I decided to order food instead of cooking. As I was scrolling down on the Postmates app, I came across Grandchamps. Never heard of it before, and was a little skeptical. I was too hungry to even go and do some research before I order my food. I decided to order the Tassot goat with white rice and beans. They’ve accepted the order right away, which was very surprising to me because usually I have to wait 6-7 minutes for the restaurant to even confirm my order. Within 30 minutes my delivery was outside. That was freaking amazing! When I got the food, oh my god! The presentation was amazing. Everything was well presented. The food was well assorted. Everything I asked for and ordered was inside the bag. The food.... should I go on? The food was freaking delicious. The right amount of salt. Not too much. The included everything. Kudos to you guys. Amazing job! I’m very impressed. I will definitely order more from you and sometime even drop by and take a look at the restaurant! Mwen fyè de nou menm. Nou leve figi manje ayisyen!
If you have tried all the exotics like Japanese, Korean, Indian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Spanish, Thai etc. then you MUST NOT leave Haitian cuisine off of your list and Grandchamps makes certain that there is no exception! The cousin of Louisiana and the other French Caribbean island cuisines, blending French, African and Native culinary influences, this restaurant is sure to satisfy, serving many staple and authentic dishes. As soon as you walk in, the sight is spacious, nonchalant and inviting, allowing you to just walk up to the counter if you choose and order for takeout or to take a seat at a table at the view of subtle Haitian art in the background while being enchanted by the smooth jazzy rhythm of Haitian music at an appropriate volume that does not hinder conversation in a casual atmosphere in a dimmed lighting, not too bright nor too dark.
I love the ambience of this place. Immediately upon entering, we were enamoured by the literature and art within the space. The restaurant is within an open floor plan that is separated by counters and shelves which break up the space easily. The furniture for seating is quite comfortable and the tables were well-maintained and clean. One thing I could not stand was the ambient lighting (which seems to be a fixture in most New York restaurants) - the yellow lights. There needs to be more neutral white light that is easier on the eyes and add depth and layers to the space. While I like the design of the accent and ambient lighting - the placements could be better. I’ve often realized that the lighting in a restaurant can affect the colours of food and other objects within the space and this can turn off customers or attract them. The food was divine. I thoroughly enjoyed the bread pudding. The menu leaves me wanting more from Haitian cuisine, despite the classics and necessities being there. It is authentically Haitian. The drink menu needs be expanded beyond tea. I was slightly disappointed that in this holiday time, new innovations or offerings weren’t made (like crémas). I recommend here for a small gathering of friends or an intimate date (based on the lighting). The outer facade before you enter the restaurant is beautiful and I can’t wait to see how it can be transformed for an event.
I've only been here once but here are my takeaways: - the patties are not as filled as they could be, especially given the price - the wait time may be a problem for some so be prepared for that - the food is yummy - there is a one employee who is SUPER pleasant (she was wearing a hat when I was there) which was great for a first timer of Haitian food - they need more menus (my table had to make do with one menu while we waited for others to be made available)
Great local spot for Haitian food. I had the po' boy and coconut limeade. The sandwich was tasty but it a little too well done on the toasting. The fish however was well seasoned, flaky, crisp and delicious. And the drink had potential but was too sour/tangy for my taste. It's coconut milk mixed with lime juice.
Nice lunch here, albeit a little let down by some of the food. The restaurant is a large open-plan space with comfortable seating and plenty of room between tables; service was warm and friendly. We started with the marinad ak mori (salted cod fritters) which were delicious: crisp, fluffy, piping hot & not oily. Our lunch sandwiches were a bit less successful: both the GC’s Signature (fried pork, pikliz, sweet plantains & remoulade) and Poul Fri ak Waffle (fried boneless chicken thigh on a spiced waffle with fried egg) suffered from overcooked protein — the pork was tough and the chicken thigh dry, and both tasted underseasoned. We were curious about the (non-sandwich) rest of the menu though, and may come back to try some of the main dishes. (Perhaps banana fri will make an appearance on the menu!) Still, an inviting spot serving an under-represented cuisine, with lovely staff and a great vibe.
I was visiting NYC for a few days and came across Grandchamps when looking for a unique lunch spot. Upon arrival, I was pleased to see that the place was very spacious, and clean! The host greeted us warmly and we were seated immediately as there wasn’t very many people inside. In honor of Haitian Independence we ordered the soup Joumou which was very tasty. As an entree we ordered the Griot (fried pork) and Tassot (goat) with rice and beans. The food looked great! However, there was a flavor imbalance. The flavor on the meat was extremely salty while the rice/beans was bland. I ate my entire plate, but was expecting the food to be seasoned a little better.
I stopped by a few months ago specifically for the fried goat and black rice which my beastie absolutely loves. I did not expect the order for two small plates to total $75. I thought the price was rather exorbitant for a neighborhood spot. But I paid regardless. Honestly it was not worth it. The quality of the goat was substandard. Poor cuts of meat! It was all bone. This was not a pleasant experience and I would hesitate to return. Recently drove by and noticed it was shut down. Temporarily closed! I wonder why?
I really want to like this place, but it's simply just not authentic Haitian food. I know the ma n pop Haitian spots don't offer the aesthetics that some may be looking for, but trust that you'll get real Haitian food at better pricing. The seasoning/flavors are always off every time I try to give them the chance. The poul di is the only dish that's okay, but it's just okay. If you do come here, I'd stick to the patties. Those are usually pretty good.
The food is ok, doesn't taste like Haitian food. The prices are expensive, paid 18 for a regular size rice and chicken thats regularly 9 at real Haitian restaurants. The food is gentrified Haitian food. I ordered fried chicken and got burnt chicken and the pickliz was just pepper and cabbage. Trash.
It’s great to see some people enjoyed their food because I once enjoyed food from here, but I am very disgusted by their customer service and food. My husband and nine year old Daughter went to order food for our family of four. My thirteen year old wanted buffalo wings. Everyone else wanted Griot with white rice and sauce pwa and patties. My oldest daughter ate two buffalo wings while stating it tasted weird then she called out for me and said the chicken is bleeding! I was disgusted! This chicken was bleeding! Not washed at all! I took it back and was refunded my money for the wings, that is it. Nothing more, no explanation , no heartfelt sorry nothing! I will be reporting to the department of health.
