Opinions de Kos Kaffe Brooklyn
Great stop for coffee. They roast their beans on site, have an extensive drink menu, and great bites as well. There’s ample seating indoors and outdoors, although it can get a little crowded with the WFH crowd. Wifi is good (reaches outside)! Also, they have a drink rewards program (basically a digital punchcard) with a free drink on your birthday
This place is delicious. They have really good good. I had yogurt is fruit compote and granola, was soooooo good. My friend had the grilled cheese, which was gooey and great. And it’s a great place to sit with a coffee and get work done. They ask ppl to sit to the side with laptops midday, during the lunch rush, which is totally reasonable and that’s where the outlets are! Haha Definitely check it out for a bite to eat or as a staple if you work in the area.
I had the most delicious cold mocha drink! The staff at the counter were attentive and patient while I decided what to order. The atmosphere was welcoming . I’ll be back.
This is the cutest coffee house! They have a giant roaster right in the room! Great salads and toasts. Highly suggest going here with a friend for midwek breakfast or using this spot to grab a coffee while you read your newspaper. They limit laptop use on tables and don't have many outlets. Lines are usually long and it takes a bit to get your coffee. Tables are close together so not a good place for strollers.
Solid espresso drinks and fresh food. Spacious multi-purpose space with distinct style matching the neighborhood. Suitable for meeting friends and zoning out with a book or laptop.
The best chai tea I’ve had in New York (so far), but one of the worst croissants I’ve had also (hard and stale). The vibe is great, the service is good, they are not chatty or overtly friendly, but they take the order, make the drink, and do it quickly and correctly … what else do we need, right? They have a no laptop rule between noon and 3pm — which is awesome or horrible, I’ll let you decide.
Got savory porridge and green BLT sandwich - both great! Green BLT was on a great seeded bread and the Bacon is thick cut. Savory porridge was great if you want a warm bowl. Service a bit slow during peak lunch hours on Saturday but we were happy w the quality so we’d come back. Great place to sit on the sidewalk and people watch!
Beautiful space with great lattes and delicious food. Similar to what other people mentioned, the food/drinks do take a bit to be prepared, but worth the wait (for me). They have spacious seating indoors with (spotty) wifi, but it's good for a leisurely work day or place to read a book. Staff is incredibly friendly as well.
Great spot, but the kitchen service is pretty slow. Almost 25 minutes to get a simple sandwich. Otherwise, great place
- Great service - I was even told there'd be one coffee order ready before mine, which I really liked. I didn't have to worry if it was mine and they'd just misheard my order. - One of the first local places to actually give me a cappuccino when i ordered a cappuccino. - I didn't stay long, but it looked like a good place to work; they had tables inside and outside roughly 4-6 feet apart. Many seats were taken by those clearly working/in their focus modes.
Lovely space, great vibes, really nice place to sit with your laptop and get work done. The salad was nice and the coffee is great. I made an online coffee order from them as well and they were so gracious and helpful, going out of their way to resolve an issue for me. Highly recommend!
Love the food & coffee…why were the buckwheat pancakes removed from the menu? So sad, please bring them back!!
I reviewed this place previously and after eating there today decided to do another one. Whoever does the hiring for this place has a real talent for hiring great people. Whenever I am here the staff is always friendly, polite and welcoming. The Avocado toast rocks. Usually, when I order avocado toast I get a fried egg or smoked salmon as an add on. However, they were out of smoked salmond, thank goodness. Their avocado toast does not need anything else. The avocadoes were amazingly fresh, the toasted bread was tasty perfection and the olive oil and spice made all the flavors explode in my mouth for a wonderful taste sensation.
We love going there. Unfortunately, it's kinda far, but we stop in if we're in the area. Love what you guys are doing. Definitely one of my faves!
Great music, friendly people who work here, cozy and large cafe, good vibes in general. Great place to work or meet friends. Good coffee
The best coffee in Brooklyn, hands down. There is no substitute for roasting your own coffee. Not to mention their food is amazing. I live close by and have had nearly everything on the menu and it is all local, fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious. Finally the service is great. I can't think of a time that I've been when those behind the counter aren't on the top of their game: friendly and efficient.
best espresso in the area! they roast their own beans. great seating options, both indoors and out. i’ve only ever eaten one of their baked goods, but from what i’ve seen the stuff coming out of the kitchen also looks solid.
Best frittata I’ve ever had and the zucchini cake was a delight. Great spot to get some work done, read a book or meet a friend for lunch and a little treat.
This is such a cute neighborhood restaurant. It has really nice furniture, great vibes and yummy coffee. I would definitely want to come a lot and I hope it stays spacious and not crowded as it is now.
My favorite coffee place in Park Slope. Lovely staff, laidback vibe. Delicious coffee, salads and sandwiches, with lots of vegetarian options.
I go here basically every day. (I have an addiction at this point lol.) The coffee is great, and the staff is always amazing. I've never met a nicer group of people. They're always so kind and they know how to make a great latte!
This is truly one of the best cafés around!Quality ingredients like organic eggs (one of the only places left in nyc), real hot chocolate (not overly sweet or watered down), in-house roasted coffee beans, GF bread options, greens, soups etc. Spacious & sunny. Please clone this place!
One of my favorite places in the neighborhood! We buy our coffee beans from here and you get a free coffee with each bag which is a nice perk. The food is also delicious - buckwheat pancakes are a favorite.
First time working around this neighborhood and can't be happier to find this gem! Was instantly attracted to their deliciously looking loaves - banana chocolate (I got) and pumpkin (my friend got earlier)!! But thr SAVORY PORRIDGE truly caught my eyes and man I absolutely loveeeeeed my decision!!!!! Definitely coming back again when I can.
stayed a week in Park Slope, loved the vibe of this neighborhood cafe...ordered turmeric ginger lattes, so fun to watch the parade of dog-walkers, cute toddlers in strollers from stools along the windows
This coffee shop is an absolute gem! ☕✨ They serve real, high-quality coffee that they roast themselves, and it’s honestly one of the best cups I’ve ever had. The fresh pastries are always delicious, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect place to relax or catch up with friends. Highly recommend if you’re looking for amazing coffee and a warm vibe!
Overall fantastic place. Great drip coffee from house roasted beans, delicious salads and sandwiches, mouth-watering banana bread. The staff are friendly and gladly answer any questions about the coffee or food. The atmosphere is inviting with a corner location, huge plate glass windows, lots of seating, including fishbowl stools overlooking the 5th Ave sidewalk. Comfortable outdoor seating in warmer weather, on the eastern side of the street with morning to midday shade. Yes, the wait time for food on weekend mornings can be up to 30 minutes, but the staff give you a heads up on the estimated time. So not a place to go if you're in a rush, but a fantastic place to go if want to linger at a table and enjoy a leisurely coffee and brunch. I happened to meet the owner one day as she was sitting outside with a friend and a group of girls. It's telling to see someone outside of their work role, and she was delightful and skillful with this energetic group of girls.
We only had coffee, which was very good. We also bought some coffee grinds for our machine at home. The retro atmosphere is nice, the place is relatively spacious, with sitting inside and out.
never thought I could be impressed by a cafe in 2025, but here we are, zhou pastries and lattes in this shop. sent this to my favorites cafe in the neighborhood. the turmeric latte with almond milk Kat intensely interesting flavors, and the Belgian hot chocolate was well balanced and the sea salt chocolate cookie was crisp and delightful, and all of the food was the right balance of not too sweet so all was thoroughly enjoyed, will be back. also to note, there was a good atmosphere of a lot of people sectioned off in one area doing work or the others area socializing and it offers a good variety for neighborhood goers coming around and offers a bite to eat like salads if you are interested
My favorite hangout in Park Slope, hands down. Love the coffee and food. Love the people. It’s a really nice place to stop in for a coffee to go or a longer stay at a table. Note that there’s a strict laptop policy where you can’t use them at tables during certain hours (12-3 weekdays, 10-4 weekends/holidays).
Good small-batch roastery and coffee shop. Always great atmosphere and friendly staff. Tasty espresso drinks and great food. I wish they served pour overs so you can actually try their freshly roasted coffee. Aeropress is unfortunately a miss and it doesn’t taste good, more on the bitter and darker side even if you choose light roast beans. Must visit place while in Brooklyn!
Coffee is good, slightly better than Velvette, and their homemade cakes are also good (but they have a small selection). They are kind of slow though, so don’t go if you need your coffee quickly before your next Zoom meeting 😅 PS: they’ll give you a free coffee if you buy a bag of coffee beans, which they roast on location.
Read somewhere this was a coffee spot worth visiting in Brooklyn: they were right! They roast their coffee on site and the machine gives a rustic and characteristic touch to the whole ambiance. Had a couple of hearty breakfasts, great tasting coffee and good vibes!
Good coffee..tasty snacks..friendly staff. Room is good sized with lots of tables. Very comfortable for my midday break. Looks like they do good dalads and sandwiches as well but I have not tried.
I had only intended to stop in for a coffee, but ordered the sausage and egg sandwich as well after seeing that there was a $10 minimum for card payments. They were out of biscuits for the day but offered to make it on toast instead. The food tasted great (as did the coffee) and I love their commitment to using local products. The breakfast sausage is made in-shop and it is definitely unique! The space itself had plenty of seating for me to do some computer work for a couple of hours, and the environment was relaxing. I had a service dog with me and a staff member brought her a bowl of water while we sat, which I appreciated.
Finally getting around in reviewing places in my hood, this a must coffee and pastry place to try. The ice coffee is delish particularly the cappuccino strong and bold for my caffeine high. I tried some the pastries that were very yummy as well my favorite any cookie.
Very friendly staff. Bring my first time in the cafe, I asked for recommendations, and the enthusiastic lady suggested the iced maple latte. MMM I do love maple syrup. I gave it a try. It was not as sweet as I would have liked it, but maybe some customers prefer less sweet. When I think maple syrup, I think alllll the sweetness. Anyhow, great vibes in this place. It got really busy as the morning went on, and the lady taking orders never seemed to lose her enthusiasm. Would definitely come back.
The grilled cheese was amazing, and the atmosphere is great. I love the window front seats and all of the different sitting options. But the woman who worked at register did not explain anything well, and I had to keep going back to the register so she could get more info on what I wanted and my payment.
The coffee and the pastries are great, and I love the fact that they roast their own beans. That being said, the whole place feels like a morgue. There’s no music, and it’s like everybody in there just had a relative die. Bizarre.
Quaint space but not cozy - tables were full but yet open as quick as they fill - people tending to work during a mid-day coffee break. Tables are close together and very small so don't plan a private business meeting. Sit by the windows to people gaze street-side. Coffee is good but more like a local spot than for a coffee connoisseur.
what a cozy place! great latte, good vibe. was a bit luxurious to spend $20 for breakfast in a monday, but i did…sweet porridge was good but not quite ~$12 good. will return to try the savoury dishes!
Pretty good food! The bread wasn’t my favorite as it was a seeded bread with rye, but the produce on my sandwich was alright! I got an iced matcha latte that was very refreshing and balanced. I also appreciate that they do provide water free of charge. Not bad for a sandwich and coffee, just a touch on the pricier side.
The coffee was good and hot. The service was good too. We got a variety of coffees and all three were good.
Great ambiance, quietish place to work, but as other reviewers mentioned it DOES take a while to get food. I ordered half an avocado toast with poached egg and waited almost 20 minutes. With that said, it is delightful. Beans are roasted onsite in a 12kilo diedrich roaster, for "peak freshness and maximum flavor" - making for a great cup of coffee. The garden/plant theme is a cute addition, with a homestead-esque vibe once the semidried plants and vintage framed paintings of wildlife and botanical subjects are examined. The rickety, slightly wonky wooden furniture adds to the homey feel. Overall, a cute little spot to stop in &warm up from the cold!
A coffee shop with a $10 credit card limit. If consumers can't purchase your base offering with a credit card, then you really don't take credit cards. I was asked to buy something else so I could get "close to $10." There are 1000000 other shops in the neighborhood who have a pricing strategy that allows them to absorb credit card fees. I avoid places that don't let me give them my money. Coffee was good.
Kos has great coffee and fairly good food. But when it gets busy in there you will wait a very, very long time for your order--whatever it is. Also, they really need to just replace the lock on their bathroom already. People get locked in there frequently or just don't use the lock for fear of getting locked in there. This sounds like a joke, but it's not...
Nice space. Very tasty food, but the only place in NYC that doesn't offer bagels. Coffee is fair, NBD. Staff is generally friendly and helpful, but service is sloooow. Do they only cook one order at a time? When the line to order gets long, I often see a coffee roaster or kitchen help just hanging out as if they can't pour a cup of coffee in a pinch. Infuriating. Also, they don't seem to want to invest much in A/C which becomes apparent in the summer.
I love their coffee and their food, good vib, great seating. Why 3 stars. I have regularly had my coffee take 15+ minutes while their was no line and a nearly empty restaurant.
Came here to do work because reviews online said it was laptop friendly. Wifi connection was extremely poor despite the word "fast" being appended to their wifi name. There was no air conditioning as well so it was sweltering hot.
Sadly not my cup of tea. Happy to pay 18.75 dollars (with tax) for a salad at a Resturant but a cafe… no thank you. The prices are more painful when you consult the photo of the menu from only 4 years ago where the prices were literally less then half what they are now. Honestly even if they just had a few lunch items that were more affordable I’d be happier. I get there’s been inflation… but that’s another level. Also the internet didn’t work. Great atmosphere though!
The Avocado toast was great. The ice coffee was really bad. It Very weak and watered down.
Ordered a single-shot cappuccino with almond milk and it was the worst tasting coffee I’ve ever had, and I don’t use that phrase often. The place was very nice & welcoming though
They have a rule where you can't use your laptop on most tables between 12-3pm on weekdays. If the place is full and people are trying to get tables to eat I understand but what is the point of this rule if the place is half empty, which it was. Will likely never go here again.
This was a decent experience. Came in town for the weekend and spent Monday here to get some work done. It was kind wack how they have limited spaces for people to use their laptops and only 1 outlet works and that space isn’t near the ceiling fans so you have to sit in the heat. I had to get up and walk around several to prevent feeling faint. I also wish they didn’t have a gas station bathroom in such a cute place. No lights, strong bleach but public bathrooms smell and messy lol. The food and drinks are cool for a cafe.
I was surprised the sausage egg biscuit's egg was sliced & hard boiled for over $17. Basically something from the fridge, not fresh cooked even as a basic deli would do. Maybe I needed to specify?
Didn’t have a good experience at the cafe: (1) was very hot inside, the AC didn’t work well (2) the staff were chatting with each other while I stood right in front of them waiting to place the order (3) the wifi speed was extremely slow- took 30 seconds to open a webpage- have to leave because of it
Look, the service isnt fantastic and the food is ok but you staying for the sunlit warm space where you can chill for hours in this weather. In the summer, i would hang out in prospect park. Winter, im here and im not picky
My cappuccino was solid, but the WiFi was very slow. I also dislike their laptop policy, which bans the use of laptops in the majority of the cafe from 12-3 Mondays-Fridays.
The coffee was good, the croissaint was very stale. There were so many flies of all sorts, it was kind of annoying to sit and enjoy. The seats are very uncomfortable, the interior is cute.
I was really excited to try this cafe after walking around park slope. The menu looked really good and the atmosphere was great but the service was not. The staff was not friendly and made me feel like I was bothering them when I asked for a to go box. I decided to leave shortly after because it just didn’t feel like a welcoming place. Maybe I will try it out another time but it just was not a good first experience.
I usually get my brew at other espresso cafes, but being in a rush, I stopped in Kos to grab a cappuccino on the way to the Union st subway and was disappointed by the "burnt bean" taste, close to what you would get at Starbucks, aka "charbucks". Some like that, but it's not my style. I never ordered any food, so can't comment on that. I didn't see anyone else waiting in line, but it took a while to get my brew - not sure why. Other than that, it's a large space and probably good to meet up and chat with a friend as it looks like they have plenty of space, and even more tables outside when the weather is nice. Nice to see that they offer organic eggs, but wondering about anything else organic? Just wish they would change the beans, or the roasting method.
We didn’t enjoy our experience at this café. The place felt unclean, and the overall atmosphere was unpleasant. The tables and chairs seemed dirty, and the floors weren’t well-maintained. It was disappointing, as we expected a better environment. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning anytime soon.
It's an okay place to work provided you don't need Wi-Fi, which is abysmal. The coffee is okay. Many nearby options for good coffee and pleasant places to work.
We chose a table in the corner that hadn’t been cleared from the previous people (plates, food, and cups were still on it). I asked if we could have it cleared and was told that because there was a rush we had to clean it ourselves. It was busy, but they should have more than 3 people staffing a large space that offers drinks and real food dishes. One person is already at the register, so that leaves only two people to make drinks and cook food. Avocado toast ($8) with poached egg (+$2)was tasty but avocado wasn’t smushed or seasoned at all and without the egg it would’ve been dry and hard to eat. Servers were perfectly nice. My two-star rating is really aimed at management, who clearly hasn’t set up a well-oiled system.
staff was rly nice but genuinely the worst weakest matcha latte i ever had, $9 by the way, i had to ask to switch to a iced chai which also was essentially a cup of oat milk for $9
I was waiting for this place to slide, sadly. They used to have the best kale salad in Park Slope and I’ve ordered it frequently and after today I won’t again. It’s about a third the size of what it used to be with a fraction of the effort and ingredients. It takes effort to make something good, and it looks like they’ve given up the effort now. Please go back Kos!
I come to the Park Slope from time to time to drink coffee, draw, and have good conversations with my friends. This time I decided to check out Kos cafe's coffee and enjoy the atmosphere. We ordered coffee to stay. Baristas did their job great (not ironically) . When we sat down we decided to eat our small sandwiches that we happened to get at one of the bakeries. They were wrapped so we will not leave a mess or cause problems. Then their boss flies to the table and says that own food is not allowed in the coffee shop. Meanwhile there was something on the wall saying that they are dedicated to the community and stuff (sorry I didn't remember the whole text) so it was kinda upsetting. He could tell us not to do that next time or tell that in other ways. It was not our intention to be rude or "make a statement" etc. It was literally our first time in this place and the last unfortunately.
Cool looking place and they hired nice people. I ordered an iced mocha with almond milk. Chocolate syrup poured on top of ice cubes, covered in milk and then a shot of espresso. Chocolate syrup does not dissolve in an iced drink unless you're willing to wait for the ice cubes to water down your drink. I was hoping they'd get the order of mixing the drink right. Alas, I paid $7 for espresso flavored almond milk with ice.
I did not have a good experience at this cafe. Staff did not greet me or smile, just stared at me lol, very awkward. Bread in the tuna sandwich was dry and hard, not heated or toasted. Salas side was just mixed grees with a bit of oil, not salted, no other sauce or veggies. Cortado had too little milk and tasted too strong. The meal (a coffee and a sandwich) was $25, which is too expensive for such low quality. I enjoyed big windows and a lot of light inside.
Waiting time was more than 30 minutes for avocado toast& chicken sandwich. The stuff didn’t pay attention when we asked about order. “Almost finished” but it was taken 10 minutes more. There is just one person on a kitchen however 3 in the bar for preparing coffee 🤷🏼♀️ coffee was perfect as usual!
They make own coffee but the cappuccino is compared to other not good at all. Foam looks like a small Vulcan. Not creamy. Too hot
I just want to give a bad review since they sneakily are charging a lot of money. A bad matcha latte with oat milk is 9 dollar without taxes and they still ask for tip
Wifi was slow enough to be unusable. The food & coffee is good but overpriced ($25 for avocado toast & cappuccino). My primary use of a coffee shop is to get away from the house to get some work done, which I wasn't able to accomplish here.
Didn't have what I ordered. A piece of toast took 30 mins. 3 people got served ahead of me. Eventually agreed for my food to go because I couldn't wait any longer. Server was then surprised I wanted a poached egg to go. No apologies, no self awareness.
This place is nice inside and they have good granola but the pastries are clearly not fresh and $7 for a French press coffee??? Ridiculous. I ordered a granola and a sausage egg biscuit and it too 20 minutes. The egg on the sandwich isn't even fried, it's a pre-boiled egg that they slice, how can it take so long? The coffee tastes fine, not as good as gorilla or blue bottle. The only reason I would go back is if I needed a place to use my laptop other than home.
Key highlights about our recent visit to this cafe. 3 ladies are making coffee. One staff in the kitchen. After 30 minutes of waiting for a toast and sandwich, I asked one of the ladies how soon we could get our order. Her first answer was: I don't know. Then she said " your order is getting ready. In 7 minutes we got our food. Coffee and food as expected for the price paid. Just as expected. The cafeteria has a policy posted on the table that using laptops is prohibited from 12-4pm (if not mistaken). We got there at 1pm. I found at least 8 people using laptops and abusing tables. I think the ladies could step outside the counter and remind the customers of their policy. But they were laughing and talking all the time and just making coffee. One more thing to mention. One of the ladies got her sandwich for lunch 5 minutes after us. A month ago, we were buying coffee in this shop and witnessed how one worker came to work, said hello to her colleagues, took her jacket off, picked up plates and took them to the customer table. Unfortunately, she didn't wash her hands before she had started to work. There are a lot of other coffee shops with real professionals who are just doing their job
The worst espresso ever, they made 3 times and it was still horrible. Their grilled cheese had no cheese, just 2 slices of forgettable tasteless bread. Also, they basically have no ventilation in their kitchen so the whole place smells and you walk out that you stink head to toes, I had to wash all my clothes.
I've come to this coffee shop 3 times now as I have been visiting from San Francisco and each time I've found the register person extremely unfriendly- like I'm interrupting them by coming in for service? Why have I returned when there are several other coffee shops on 5th Ave? Maybe I thought I was wrong and decided to give it another try. The coffee was acceptable but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't usually leave a comment or rate as everyone is trying to make a living but after 3 times and asking a few friends if they've had the same experience I decided to. Please check the front counter people as they represent who you are.
Absolutely not the greatest drinks at all. The latte tasted like they burnt the milk. I ordered a hot chocolate wasn’t even close to warm and I only tasted milk with light hint of chocolate (grainy at the bottom) Both tasted like regular milk which I ordered oat milk. Not worth coming back. But its nice inside and lots of sunlight.
