Opinions de Other Half Brewery Brooklyn
Visiting from Australia, this was a top 3 brewery I wanted to visit in the US for the quality of their hazys. Arrived with 45 minutes until close, and the lovely blonde girl behind the bar looked after me with solid advice on what to try, tasters and staying open past close so the few left could finish their drinks. Photo of the Double Nelson daydream which was juicy and had an amazing mouthfeel with minimum sweetness from the lactose.
I logged at least 2670 distinct beers on the Untappd app. This is an instant favorite for me and my wife. We drink everything from lagers to IIPAs to stouts. Everything we tried here is at least a 4 out of 5. That is high for all of my logins. Fantastic beers and chill venue here. I would love to check out their Williamsburg location.
DAZZLING TIMES ON THE FRONT PATIO ENJOYIN’ THIS SUPER DUPER HAZY IMPERIAL IPA !
Great selection, heavy on the IPAs, lots of sitting and a chill atmosphere.
Cream of the crop for beer in Brooklyn. Sometimes mid-week releases last till Saturday. Saturdays are when they do their big releases. If you want beer on Saturday and they are kind of normal releases you should be able to get better till around noon. Sometimes even later. In the event that they are doing a highly anticipated collaboration you would probably want to get there sooner than later on a Saturday.
They've just expanded to a larger bar area, which, I suppose, was necessary with the well deserved increase in popularity. The new spot is more spacious, but lacks the crusty character of the old taproom. Even while the atmosphere is not quite what it used to be, I'm still giving it 5*, as the beers are excellent and it's a really cool brewery overall that deserves your visit.
Visited from Chicago last month and was not disappointed. Judging by the smattering of 1- and 2-star reviews, it's not for everyone. But if you can differentiate and appreciate exceptional craft beer from just average and you love hops, this is Brooklyn's finest. Some of the best IPA's I've had, period.
Other Half is an icon in the industry and a must visit for any beer afficianado. The Centre Street Brooklyn location is the OG location. Its usually pretty busy. Parking is a challenge as well. That being said, the beer is excellent and they usually have things you can't get at the other locations. You can order beer for pickup ahead online. Definitely a must visit!
Big fan of other half beer. I'm lucky enough to get it occasionally here in Ohio but it was even better in the taproom! Steve, you're a great bartender! Thank you for your beer recommendations, they were spot on, but really, everything you guys brew is great! (Obviously)
Amazing selection and tasting beers. But let's be honest, if your going here you probably already know Other Half makes some incredible beers. Atmosphere is dayily typically, lots of distressed wood and industrial furnishings. Staff were all great and really helpful. Only slight downside, out of their control really, is getting there is convoluted and parking is on street. But otherwise a definite must if you're a beer nerd.
Stopped by on the Monday of Labor Day weekend, expected it to be busier based on previous visits, I generally try to only come here on weekdays to avoid the crowds. It was the right kind of busy, you could get a seat but all of the tables were taken creating a comfortable energy, plenty of dogs too, which always improves the atmosphere. We came because it was Trillium & friends week, had the Every Gazillion ever, Like like whoa whoa and the sweet potato fries. The beer, as usual, was excellent but more on that elsewhere.
Super casual brewery! The industrial canning factory sets a great atmosphere. There is plenty of seating throughout. You can tell it’s both a local watering hole as well as a destination for beer enthusiasts. They have an extensive tap menu and have excellent and informative staff. We saw people brining food from outside restaurants to enjoy with the beers which seems like a great way to spend an evening!
I was really impressed by Other Half. I've been to quite a few breweries with the NEIPA style on the east coast and OH is definitely top tier! Their stouts are equally impressive, try Dropping Milliballs and Deep Space: Centaurus, you won't be disappointed. The space was busy the Friday we went, but we never had to wait too long for service at the bar. I also bought two stout bottles and found out later I mixed up the names and bought the wrong ones! They swapped them out, no questions asked, great customer service. Definitely check OH out, theyre
New taproom features a lighter interior and more space. 20 taps of beers brewed on-site, served as 4oz samplers or 12oz full pours. Most beers are also available for growler fills (the gold star). In addition they also serve some ciders and wines plus a couple of non-aligned options. Complete with a gift shop for all your swag needs.
Phenomenal selection, friendly staff, good vibe music. Cozy atmosphere with chill laid back non pretentious atmosphere. When you see like 7 people working at the canning/bottling machine and people using dolly's to lug out cartons of beer you know this place is legit. Great place def worth a visit. Hope to be back asap!
Really awesome spot off the F-line (Smith-9 sts). Easily walkable from subway. Neat place - clean, enjoyable, great tunes, has plenty of seating and wonderful beers and staff. I got a few pints and growlers to go. Additionally, customer service was awesome-sauce. I was mistakenly overcharged and they rectified it within 12 hours. I highly recommend it! Also met some dude from Zilker in Austin. Great people.
Never a boring selection to be had. 5% Session beers, 8% DIPAs, 12% Stouts in bourbon barrels. Try the new Oat Creme. Unbelievable Imperial IPAs especially the collab with Parrish Brewing. Nice spot. Out of the ordinary. Below the Gowanus. OatWine beer and Gold Trap... Stout is good too. Next go to Reyes Tacos
Mostly IPAs on tap, and as an IPA avoider myself, I actually loved every one I had. Their sours were also the best I ever tasted, and the stout was decadent. Lots of space to stand or sit, good for big groups, and kids and dogs allowed. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff too. On nice days, with the garage door open, it’s bliss. Highly recommend! Update: still recommend even more! The taps rotate all the time, so I’m ever motivated to go and try more flavors! It does get crowded to don’t expect a seat. love it here. Even my mom who isn’t a beer drinker loves the place.
I can't say enough good things about the great brewery, it is amazing!! My wife and I enjoyed each beer we had while visiting. Staff was very friendly, atmosphere was great, beer was amazing. If you are driving there, parking can be tricky, but hey you have great beer waiting for you!
Probably the best brewery in NYS right now. Incredible DIPA, IPA & DDH beers always available on tap in various ounces servings going down as low as 4oz. Can releases are next to bar/tasting room. Don't wait because the good releases normally are sold out by noon, opening at 10am. Several rooms in tasting area with funky vibe. Moderate prices. Located on 1 way street across from McDonalds. Lots of stouts and sours/gose beyond IPA's. Crédit cards accepted. Worth the trip, right next to Gowanus canal, High street subway stop and BQE
Really cool beer geek central!! Saturday are new releases so get there early and be prepared for a beer share ✌️ Be sure to check out the tap room a half block up for a bite and to taste the new rotations. Solid spot for anyone who appreciates real beers. Highly recommend. Would travel. Did travel. D Taking our four 4 packs back to Boston from here.
Just tried Other Half’s All Citra Everything Double Dry Hopped Imperial IPA, and wow—it’s a tropical burst of mango, pineapple, and citrus. Super smooth, juicy, and not too bitter. At 8.5%, it’s way too easy to drink. If you love Citra hops, this one’s a no-brainer. Other Half crushed it!
Edit to say we were recently able to actually sit on the taproom after a year of doing deliveries because of COVID and it was so good to be back. We could even bring one pup inside! My favorite brewery ever. We do biweekly pickups to CT and i look forward to it every time. The creamiest oat IPAs!
Nice brewery. I just tried the pilsner they have, and that was great. Cant wait to go try out more beer. Definitely nice environment. It was winter and inside was fairly cold, no heaters that day I guess. Ive seen in the summer they open the garage door so thats cool. The atmosphere is very cool, TV’s all around, rustic feel, great location, good craft beer.
I visited Other Half Brewing while I was in Brooklyn and absolutely loved it! The vibe is super chill with a nice mix of locals and visitors. The IPAs are some of the best I’ve ever had, really fresh and full of flavor. The taproom has a cool industrial feel and it’s dog-friendly too, which I loved. Perfect spot to hang out with friends or just relax with a great beer. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Brooklyn! 🍺
An exceptional brewery, easily among the best I’ve experienced, not just in New York but across the entire East Coast. Their selection of IPAs and Imperial IPAs is outstanding, and I’m fairly certain I had the best Imperial Stout of my life here a few years back. The original Brooklyn location remains my favorite, warm, inviting, and offering the most impressive range of beers. The Domino Park spot is also well worth a visit, especially for its stunning views. I should mention as well that the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming.
First came here in 2017, and was blown away. So happy to have seen them grow and keep on making great beers. Alex behind the bar is simply fantastic. The best beer in NYC.
Favorite brewery in the city by far. They have a really cool space to hang out at if you want some drinks and all of the bartenders are really friendly. Been an other half beer fan for years and cannot stress how great this place is
One of my favorite taprooms/breweries in NY. Their flavor profiles perfectly match up with my tastes and grabbing a beer here is always pleasant. I’m gluten intolerant (new, depressing development), so I have to cheat sparingly and in a calculating way. Coming here like 3 times a year and getting a few beers is always 1000000% worth it. Their IPAS/Sours, or anything w citra hops or that lactose thing they do is always BANGING.
Had a great impromptu night at Other Half in Brooklyn. Visiting from Australia, the brewery was on my hit list to try, based on recommendations back home. It did not disappoint. Chris behind the bar was awesome; informed, patient and entertaining. Got to chat with some locals and share the passion for all things beer. 100% recommend popping in for a tasting or more. And the beers are spectacular.
My favorite Other Half Brewing spot at NY! Surroundings are not best, maybe bit scary even haha, but totally worth to visit this taproom! Packed with bottles and merchendise! They had good stuff on taps, even some nice guest beers, like BA stout from Burial Brewing. One of my favs taproom from our trip to NY. Cheers!
1/5/25 Here again which we enjoy. Shocked at how many little kids are here meaning toddlers one learning to walk in a brewery sort of funny! Lots of babies. Only a handful of us are adults which I guess means the parent need to drink. You can still bring in pizza or if needed McDonalds from across the street. Delicious beer today including the snowbirds 8 Here in Brooklyn right now. Beautiful Sunday afternoon. The doors are open, the delicious beer is flowing, and we have via Roma pizza. How wonderful. The staff offers their full explanation of the beers available for sale and cans and bottles for pick up. They even sell their logo on shirts and hats. Love the vibe!
Awesome spot! Other Half is known for their great IPAs so it was nice to actually visit the original brewery location. They had an incredible sour on tap as well. We ordered a few tasters so we were able to try a variety. Also noted they had a few cocktail offerings for those who might prefer cocktails over beer. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Quite a few friendly dogs too! We were there early enough in the day to snag a table, but the place was pretty busy by the time we left. They also had a grill set up for a few food offerings (hot dogs, tacos, etc). Can’t wait to visit again next time we’re in the area.
Mostly, the things you look forward to disappoint you. The best of us learn that the looking is where the joy lies. I knew this could not be as good as people say…it was better. The glorious arrival in the sky over Brooklyn. Breakfast in a local deli and a walk around the post-industrial landscape waiting until 10am when it opens. I had one beer that was very good and the remaining 7 were better. Friendly service both to locals and beer tourists. Free stickers. Football. In the spirit of Michelin, worth a flight.
Been coming here for years, loved visit the new expanded space. Great beer selection, you can't go wrong everything these guys put out is delicious. IPAs are fantastic and stouts are innovative and fun. They have lots of fun collabs with other local brewery's and always something going on at the brewery.

LOVE this place! Great little brewery, great choices in beers. Recommending by TikToker Timm, IYKYK

The ambiance was incredible. The brooding bartender placed a beautiful candle at my table which really set the mood. It made my day. It's the little things that make all the difference.

Dogfish 60 IPA dragged me to OH but Special combo #4 Death By Broccoli stole my heart. Love the center street location. Dominick park location is soulless. Happy 10th anniversary OH.
I’m not a beer lover, but my boyfriend really enjoyed the 2 different IPA beers he tried at Other Half brewery. I had a glass of white wine. Busy spot, great beers and great service!
If you're looking for their famous Imperial IPAs this place will be a dream come true. Personally I thought it was a little overkill - after sampling 8 of them, the next 8 all tasted the same. They had 4 sours which served as a refreshing change on the palette. No stouts, lagers, pilsners, NEIPAs... too many Imperial IPAs for my liking. Their 4oz pours are all $4. Their 12oz pours range from $6 to $8 - not sure why their cheaper 12oz's aren't $3 for a 4oz. If you want to get the most bang for your buck order large pours of the cheap beers and small pours of the more expensive ones. They don't offer food during weekdays but allow you to bring your own or order takeout.
Bottom line: up there in terms of cool hipster brewery tasting rooms. Very packed on my visit. Interesting crowd. Gluten line: didn't see a single option. Help me bring my celiac wifey guys! Long line: came here with a good friend and enjoyed my time. Note that they don't do flights, only these small I think 4oz glasses. It's a bit disappointing. But overall the experience was pretty good. The beers are absolutely delicious. In a world overrun with hazy IPAs and NE IPAs and your sisters IPAs it's great to have big boy stouts, and yeah pastry stouts count. If you guys made some GF options I'd come out here way more often.
Definitely a fun brewery that's both kid and dog-friendly. I'm not a beer drinker but they do have some cocktails on the menu for $15, which today is totally reasonable. \n\nThey don't have food but …

If you want the Brooklyn experience, this is THE place. White dudes with beards? ✔️ Dogs randomly walking around? ✔️ I mean look at the photo of this place. Shared tables? ✔️ Old fashioned incandescent light bulbs? ✔️ ALSO neon lights? ✔️ A sliding barn door against the wall for no reason? ✔️ Idk. If you’re into lots and lots of IPA and stouts on the menu, I guess this spot’s cool. I went to pick up beer for a friend who’s into this stuff. It was kinda packed at 3pm on a Friday I had off work. I tried a bunch of the beers, they’re fine, a lot of them cost $4 for 4 oz which sucks IMO. If this is your thing go for it but if you just like regular beer you can skip it.
No beer for my beer loving gluten free partner. Have appreciated your beer for years and wish I could share it. Throwing down the challenge to be NYCs first brewery to offer a gluten reduced beer! A process of simply adding an enzyme to break down gluten in the fermentation process, not otherwise changing recipe or taste. If you need to chat with other breweries, Second Street Brewery in Santa Fe, 9 White Deer and Wicklow Wolf in Ireland all have great Gluten reduced beers. Ever gotten home from a long day of work and craved a cider? We all love beer, would be lovely if we could all drink it.
Out of 20 beers on draft only 2 weren't an ipa, imperial ipa, or oat cream ipa. The establishment stinks with the smell of hops, like seriously smells really bad. The chocolate notes in the stout were oppressive and the berliner weise left much to be desired....but hey i guess the joke is on me, shouldve ordered an IPA.
