Opinions de Rocka Rolla Brooklyn
Beautiful mega kitsch decor! So much detail and awesomeness to everything from the beer signs to the beer chalices and always great music and sexy clientele. It's also comfy and easy to get to. Basically they did everything right!
No frills, just a great bar. Don't come in to take pictures and "check-in", engage and be apart of this dying breed of a dive bar. The alcohols are cold and cheap, they serve the champagne of beers in a goblet, the decor is grunge and dressed in an era long since admired. The music is punk and old hard hitting rock and roll. Go for the experience, stay for libations and most importantly the people.
Overall, I would confidently say this is the best bar around that part of the neighborhood. Between the constant awesome rock n roll from the jukebox and the reasonably priced drinks, Rocka Rolla is a gem. Rarely is it ‘too busy’ and impossible to get a drink. Cool bar and a decent outdoor area to hang out. Go check it out!
been coming here for years and it's always a good time! it's a rock & roll dive bar with gigantic beer and cocktails for cheap. i love coming here for day drinking and it's much more chill than friday/saturday nights. i could also order my fish bowl with extra swedish fish on the side (without feeling like i'm being annoying) and the bartenders always oblige. tho through the pandemic, i've since outgrown super sweet cocktails, i still appreciate a place like Rocka Rolla where you can get a huge goblet of beer for the low low and have a great time with your company. 18/10 would recommend to anyone! ps. the bouncers are always chill and one even wished me a happy birthday when i stopped by a few days after it.
This is one of my favorite bars. It's definitely one of the best in Williamsburg. They open at Noon so if you're an early day drinker you can start here. It is a dive bar so don't expect an immaculate interior. The beer selection is great. You can get a schooner of Narragansett for $5. But if you are hard of luck and don't have much to spend you can get a schooner of Budweiser for $3. That's pretty unheard of in 2022 anywhere. It's got a lot of booths to sit in groups and a ton of other seating. The staff is so good. Even when it's packed, you get served pretty fast. They check IDs at the door so you underage kids stay home. The clientele is great here because you get the usual eclectic Williamsburg people plus the foreign tourists from all the nearby hotels. I have met so many people from other countries here. Whether you are from Brooklyn or abroad you'll enjoy this bar. Check it out.
Rock music, rock atmosphere, great cocktails, awesome vibes. Well worth a visit. I'd have it as a local if I lived in Brooklyn. Go check it out 😎👍
Always a great time, fun bartenders, the patio is great, they have a pool table, etc. The security staff is very nice with a good sense of humor too
Beers in thick fancy glass, standard and specialty cocktails (the pound-plus margarita and the coffee thing are excellent), food if you ask nicely, rock juke box that can't be beat, and a wee concrete backyard
Williamsburg mainstay. The bar games and "rock" atmosphere make this place feel like the ultimate dive bar. Don't expect to sing along to your favorite Taylor Swift jams here...it ain't happening.
Classic dive bar, but beware the bathrooms are of course dive bar bathrooms
- The drinks: It all comes down to the ice. Their ice is superior to any bar I've been to. It makes the drinks taste that much better. And they're reasonably priced. - The bar: While nothing fancy, it's not grimy or uncomfortable inside. Plus, there's free shuffleboard in the back along with pinball ... how can you go wrong? - The jukebox: This may be the main selling point. A cheap, metal-filled jukebox. And they have a great sound system. What's better than playing free shuffleboard while blasting the entire Master of Puppets album for under a single Sacagawea per song?
A truly grungy dive bar that plays great music and pours strong drinks. The weekends do tend to bring in a Murray Hill finance bro vibe but they are usually there to pregame before hitting Union Pool. Definitely one of my favorite spots in BK
The sister bar of Do or Dive, expect that. Great prices, great atmosphere, good fun. It gets really crowded the later it gets so go early and grab a booth if you want to sit. They do check IDs at door and do not accept photos.
My first time at Rocka Rolla was over ten years ago so my review is going to be a bit colored by that. But it is still mostly the same. It's a good bar. They play rock music, not metal. They have a shuffleboard and a (sometimes working) pinball machine. It is a good place to start an evening and meet random people. Every time I visit New York I make sure I go to Williamsburg at least one night and drop into this bar.
Great old-school bar. The bartender was very personable. They had a nice outside space too. The dollar-off specials included a $4 Narragansett served in a heavy glass ‘schooner’. Nice pretzels with mustard.
Nice rock pub with good ambience and decent beer selection.
One of the most unique dive bars i’ve ever been to in my life. Heavy metal playing. Pickled hardboiled eggs with pretzels ? Coffee thing drink was fire in a classic cup. Drinks were cool in goblin glasses. Def would stop here for an experience to show someone.
awesome bar with the biggest margs you’ve ever seen
One of the best bars in the area. Great beer selection and good vibes. It’s just usually packed on the weekends but a great spot more or less.
This place is great! I am a southern boy and they made me feel like a regular. Hole is by far one of the best bartenders! He is attentive and skilled at his job. Friendly and gets his job done right, need I say more
Would be an amazing Rock n Roll bar if there weren’t so many dang hipster bros there. The drinks are reasonably priced. The space, decor & music are very cool. And bonus points for the back patio area. Always a fun time!
Friendly bartenders, great music (any place that plays Dillinger Four immediately wins my heart), good draft selection served in huge goblets. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Great old school Williamsburg vibe back when things were freakier. Lots of trucker hats and punk rock kids and oversized beer and cocktails that will leave you walking out the door with two right feet. Great place for a cougar to scope out some hot young men as well. Pinball machines, charming bartenders and lots of hot people. My friend and I bought our Cougar Club of Brooklyn there (membership: 2) and had a great night.
Awesome old school rock bar! Came for the goblets of beer, stayed for the house pickled eggs. Definitely coming back here. Retro decor is so cool. Maybe next time I won’t fill up on eggs and try that taco truck outside I always hear about.
the coffee thing, enough said. This is place an instant classic right around the corner from the L and G trains at metropolitan. great drinks -they also feel like a great deal.
Mad busy bar! It was a Saturday quick and direct service! Brill place to meet family then head to the famous tacos across the park!
Awesome space. Sadly they don’t have Blondie on the jukebox but Gizmo was the highlight of the night. Party on Garth 🤟
Jen is so awesome! Amazing vibes and great quintessential dive bar- go on Tuesday's (any other day is great too but specifically tuesdays bc Jen is working hehe)
An amazing bar -- I love that you can create your night from here. High energy if you want it to be, but also has a shuffleboard table in the back and a really amazing open area in the back with an ample amount of outdoor seating. The crowd is young to mid twenties with people chatting, drinking, smoking. Will definitely be returning. Oh and of course, most of the drinks come in a pretty nice chalice.
I was very impressed with this bar. My first impression was the friendly bouncer at the door greeting me with a smile. Next, the drinks were super competitively priced for NYC. Not only that but their atmosphere is amazing, love the antiques & old signs all over the place, great music choices as well. 10/10 Brooklyn experience. Outdoor seating was a bonus and there are two backrooms to chill in as well.
Are you looking to find a place with enormous drinks that you won’t remember walking out of when you leave? Do you like loud music and meeting great people? Then you’ve come to the right spot. This place was recommended by an acquaintance and boy did it deliver. I may have toned up my biceps while lifting the gigantic challis to my mouth hole. The bartenders are awesome. It was packed to the gills and I never had to wait very long at all for friendly service. Go brown out at this establishment.
Good selection of cheap beers, all served in big goblets. Interesting decor and neighborhood vibe. Music is pretty loud for no reason, although it's usually enjoyable rock hits
The prices were great for ok drinks. Hard check on vaccine cards which is +++. Hated though the super loud music. Place was packed on a Tuesday night tons of people having convos over blaring heavy metal music. Service though was fast and friendly on such a busy evening.
Nice vibes in the weekend. Music, and the crowd was great. Drinks were on the flow. Somehow the woman bartender was rude to us. It left us wondering how just ordering a drink, sounds like yelling to her. Otherwise this place is just awesome.
If you like rock, punk, alt, and goth culture you'll love this bar. The beer selection on tap is surprisingly large, and you'll get served in some quirky goblets. Makes a good spot for photo opportunities too, with a whole lot of band posters on the walls and a stylish interior. It's pretty dimly lit inside, but that's just part of the ambiance. Also has some games like pinball, and table hockey. Worth adding to a bar hopping roster if you're with a crowd who likes the scene it fits in.
Cheap drinks in large glasses, but they aren't super strong. Definitely worth the money tho. The outside patio is cute and has plenty of seating for small groups.
Went on a quiet Tuesday afternoon so the place was quiet except for the very friendly bar man having a good chat with a couple of regulars. He was very attentive and chatty to us too. Good drinks deals and fair prices
I Love This Place! They have so many funny cheap drinks here. The is one of my favorite places on Williamsburg. Great drinks, outdoor place. Everyone is super friendly and helpful from the Security guard to the bartenders. The coffee thing is my favorite drink of all time and so cheap.
Rocka Rolla Est. 2014 Layout/atmosphere *Wood panel walls; leather stools; oblong U-shaped bar; old fashioned jukebox; booths; photos of rock musicians; bison head on wall; tchotchkes; projector screen; backyard Food/drink *No formal food menu; snacks - pretzels, chips, deviled eggs *Chilled Schooner glasses for beer
Listen. This is my favorite bar. It has been for awhile. But in the past year they’ve really leaned into something I wish they hadn’t. This isn’t a metal bar. This is Rocka Rolla. Stop playing exclusively metal and hard rock. I used to love this bar because it played a range of rock music. Now I never hear anything but metal. It’s like they’re trying to drive people away. Please bring back the old music. I loved coming here and hearing The Stooges, The Smiths, and New Order. Why did you stop playing that. It was awesome.
Came here with on a Sunday night and it was perfect. This is a great dive bar with a decent amount of game options but not the greatest. The drinks are super cheap which is always a great thing but the music was loud to a point where you couldn’t really hear the person you were conversing with. Overall I would come back for the prices, definitely worth it!
The Jukebox is near perfection. A great mix of classic Metal and 80s greatest hits. But that's only part of the draw. Pseudo-divey with neat nostalgic signage. A long bar and booths along one side. When it's crowded, don't be shy. Ask the two guys staring into their phones if you can share a booth designed for up to 6. I weep for this generation. Game into negative points. The beer is served in huge goblets like you're a king or queen. Huzzah! And then there's the Coffee Thing. So delicious that you need to not suck it down too fast. I got a wicked brain freeze that lasted 5 mins. You've been warned! I'd come back with a pocket full of singles just for the jukebox alone.
This is a cool dive bar in Williamsburg. The service is good and they have very good prices. A giant Chalice of draft beer is only $6. The drinks are also fairly priced. The music is mostly Rock. The only thing is I put a $1 in the Jukebox, which is supposed to get you 3 songs and only 1 song came up. The decor is cool. This is a cool bar to chill in.
Rocka Rolla is a local Dive Bar in Williamsburg that has some really good music (classic rock) and some dope decor. Unlike other dive bars you may find in NYC, it doesn’t have smelly bathrooms. it’s a fun place to come with a group. Hang out in a booth and drink a beer in a giant goblet. . Rocka Rolla also serves beer in some really cool Schooner glasses — giant 18 oz goblets for just $3. Can’t beat that deal anywhere . You can fill one to the brim with Budweiser. Or opt for a 16 oz. can of Tecate for only $5. They're also pouring a great selection of craft beers . The Frozen Coffee Drink And Outdoor primo is the bonus for me!
Good music patio decor. Bartender overcharged me then promised to remove first charge but never did. The bar then split my tip over the two charges. I've seen 2 just ok bartenders out of 6. Feels like the Disney version of a rock bar on the weekend and nights. Definitely won't be back.
Great prices and good outdoor patio vibes. Horrible staff though. If you go there on a Sunday night and you order from a scrawny white dude with tattoos and braids make sure to not tip him. Some of these NYC bartenders need to learn how to shut up, pour the beer, and take the cash. This man verbally harassed my friends and I for not tipping enough and me paying in $1 bills for a cheap drink that took him seconds to pour out. Boo hoo woe is you🤣
The most rude and mean bouncer I’ve ever encountered? Such unnecessary attitude I literally wanted to leave the moment we got there. Drinks were good
The Good - Vibe, Music, $3 Bud goblets and generally cheap domestic beers. The Bad - The bartender tried to charge us $50 for 3 Spaghets. For those who don't know, a Spaghet is a Miller High Life (listed on the menu as $4) with a shot of Aperol in it. What's even crazier is that they poured less than half a shot into each beer. I'm certain these were not full shots because they poured them into the bottles of high life without letting us take swigs first, and there is simply not room for that much extra liquid in a full bottle of beer. That's why at every other bar, they pour a shot on the side, or give you the bottle and ask you to take a swig first. We thought it was a mistake. The bartender said "No mistake, a shot of Aperol is $11". Which is ridiculous for a few reasons -- (1) These were half-pours at most, (2) Aperol is a liquer, and should never be $11 a shot anywhere except maybe an airport, and (3) Even so, (4 + 11) * 3 = 45. So where did the extra $5 come from? The bartender tried to "give us a deal" and told us since they already poured the drinks, they'd only charge us for 2. We asked how much that would be and they said "$40". Which also doesn't make sense if they were about to charge $50 for 3. Very shady. We simply said we weren't gonna pay for those and ordered Buds instead. A spaghet is a standard dive bar drink that typically costs anywhere from $7-$12 in NYC. So Rocka Rolla if you're listening, you gotta re-evaluate your pricing model here. But beyond that, I'm now skeptical that bartenders will just purposely overcharge people they think aren't paying attention.
Place is cool ... bouncer needs to get off high horse. Talk about a complex. I accidentally walked by him bc I didn't see him IDing a couple because he was literally sitting down and he proceeds to grab me by my arm saying I'm trying to "pull one on him" and "be sneaky" despite me apologizing saying I didn't see him. It's like a when a cop uses their authority to their advantage. Like bro I'm 34 - leave your ego at home no one was trying to sneak in. Sorry but nothing is more annoying than miserable people at work.
It's a fun bar but my tab always get overcharged and no one will fix it. I got 2 budweiser schooners and a whiskey soda and it ended up being almost $70.
★☆☆☆☆ I walked into this bar expecting a relaxed evening. I ordered my first beer without any issues and then headed over to the jukebox. For $5, you’re supposed to get 15 song credits—so I paid, selected my tracks, and even ordered a second beer while I waited. But the jukebox malfunctioned and refused to play any of my choices. When I approached the staff for an explanation, instead of fixing the problem or offering a refund, they became defensive and aggravated by my question. Rather than resolve the issue, they escalated the situation and escorted me out of the bar. All I ever wanted was what I paid for—a cold beer and a few songs—and instead I was made to feel like I was in the wrong. This place fails both on basic service and customer respect. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a fair deal and friendly atmosphere.
Bad service, non-existent in fact. The place smells bad and is kind of dirty, overall. The decor is very kool, good variety of beer and the prices are competitive. However, bad service and location hygiene can demolish any experience.
The security is a gaslighting manipulative person who picks and chooses who he lets in ID or not he disrespects and switches up people’s words especially in a celebration for companies as big as marvel who wanted to enjoy their time there. Whoever was on the clock April 4 of 2024 isn’t a good security or a good reputation to the bar I feel bad for the owner. He should hire better people or settle down with better people. That security let about 7 underage peoples that night but the one who was honest about it gets the repercussions. I’m 21 in July yet he let younger ones come in bc he was too focused on unnecessary stuff.
It’s a nice bar! Gone throughout the years, recently they have a long haired yt boy who is rude and didn’t serve us for speaking Spanish at the bar. We went for a friends birthday and that man didn’t serve 10 ppl when it wasn’t even packed. Won’t be going back until he leaves
Horrible experience. Great bartenders until 10 to 4 whereby they aggressively told us we needed to go. We’d bought a pint at 0340 and they just grabbed the pint from the table and told us to leave. Long haired guy said if I didn’t leave right now he would grab me by the hair and throw me out. Shame, you shouldn’t sell the drink at that time if you aren’t willing to give them more than 10 minutes to drink it. Won’t come back.
On January 2nd of 2024, unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with the bartender who served me. He was very aggressive in every interaction, rushing us to place the order and to pay. Because of this, I didn't leave a tip, and he responded very violently, telling us to leave the place. The bartender had long, blonde hair. For the sake of the establishment, they shouldn't have someone like that in customer service.
I showed up at this place at 1:50am. I was previously at a few bars, and had a few drinks. I was somewhat drunk when I arrived, but far from belligerent or excessive in any way. Maybe I stumbled or something but walking in, but the bouncer stopped me before showing ID to inform me that I wasn’t going to be allowed in. His reasoning seemed to be that I was already drunk. Well, I don’t know much about the laws, but arriving at a bar at 2am almost ensures that you are going to be at least a little drunk. In any case, I wasn’t allowed in. I’ve been to this bar before, and they have a fun banana drink. They have a good coffee drink. But you don’t allow slightly drunk people in at 2am on a Friday? I can’t imagine why. Maybe they think they’re really special or something, not sure. But they aren’t. It’s just a bar, and not allowing slightly drunk people into a bar at 2am gives you a one star rating. I’m sure it’s not the bouncers fault, even though he wasn’t exactly nice. It’s not like people at the bar aren’t drunk. They just had a problem with me for some reason, which I’m going to take offense to because I don’t think there was any reason to not allow me to enter. It was really stupid and whatever stupid policy that was governing that decision should be revised. This is my friends favorite bar, but I can’t support it if it’s going to not allow me in after a few drinks. Maybe I stumbled? You tell me
Ive enjoyed this bar for a while but unfortunately the 2 women bartenders they have now are extremely rude. I received the wrong drink and I kindly asked if she could change it for the correct one and she was instantly rude, defensive and refused to correct the mistake. She even had the bouncer kick me out of the bar for no reason. These 2 should not be bartending, they treated me horribly even after I tipped.
Rocka Rolla is a bar I frequently go to. It is around my home and I used to love it. I have had many issues here which has lead me to edit my previous 5 star comment. There was one instance when the bartender took my money and never gave me my drink. I tried to explain to her but she belittled me and told me she served me already. I lost 10 dollars because I am not one for confrontation. The second instance my wife was not allowed into the bar because the bouncer claimed she was stumbling into the bar which was far from true. There are many other issues I have personally experienced but for the sake of this review I will leave it at that.
The type of place to make a snowman but not shovel the sidewalk.
Last Friday I forgot to close my tap and I left the bar. Next day I noticed an extra charge for $56 that I didn’t do. I came Sunday to request to talk with manager and crew didn’t want to call him. They didn’t even provide me with a phone number or an email to request an explanation and reimbursement. They tried to convince me I did order more and I don’t remember. This is disgusting, trying to use when clients make a mistake to make extra charges and later say “you were drunk and you don’t remember”(I did only drink one drink that night, clearly I remember everything I did).
Barback Bobby literally showed us middle finger multiple times after spilling our beers two times back to back. It’s so ridiculous to write about this experience but check the cameras, if you have them in the bar. Bouncer was super rude too, even though we called him to resolve the issue. I used to love this place and I used to come here often for drinks
I didn’t know where the bathroom was and the bartender decided it was appropriate to make a joke about me not knowing where the bathroom was? (This was my first time here and I found that extremely rude.) I’d love to come back but I wish the bartenders were nicer. :( I loved the music and atmosphere!
