Opinions de Speedy Romeo Brooklyn
As a St. Louis Native who has been in desperate search of anything even remotely close in style, I can honestly say that with one bite of the ‘St. Louie’ I was immediately transported to my childhood. While there were aspects of the pizza that were - from the vernacular of my highschool theatre compatriates - Uniquely New York (the hand-tossed airy crust, and the higher-than-average price point), there were also exact flavor profile matches that set Speedy Romeo aside from every other pie I have yet tasted in the Big Apple. I will absolutely be bringing my fellow St. Lunatics here on their subsequent visits to the city, and I highly recommend that you bring your friends and family as well.
I went out to lunch with my whole office. I was worried I would have trouble finding a dairy-free meal, but that was not the case. I ended up getting the margherita pizza with Daiya cheese, and it was delicious. The atmosphere and the service were great as well. I will definitely be going to Speedy Romeo again soon.
Andrea greeted us immediately and gracefully. Rodney was great and attentive. Will be back
This is one of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Their pizzas are amazing. So fresh and so good you wanna just eat them. They have an excellent selection of wines and their servers are really well oriented with the menu and the wines. The ambiance is special and cozy. It is a regular once a month (sometimes more frequent) for us.
Solid spot. I was so excited to eat my food I forgot to take pics. They make the best ceasar salad I've ever had. The meatballs are amazing. There pizza is not my style, but my partner says it's good. The staff are super friendly and the service is good. They have set up a lot of outdoor socially distant seating and it was bustling when we went. I'm hoping the weather holds out to visit a few more times.
Stop two of the pizza death tour two Saturdays ago in Brooklyn. We came in on an off hour, so we had most of the restaurant to ourselves and the staff were having their family meal (which looked really good). The service was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent, especially with the nice open kitchen and wood fired oven going. We had the St. Louie, the Margherita, and the White Album. All three were great, but the White Album really took the cake for me. Perfect crust, and the béchamel was superb on this pie. I would definitely go out of my way for a pie (or three) from this joint! Bon Apétit!
Delicious, wood-fired pizza. Not exactly what you think of as "New York-style pizza" because of the wood oven, but it is top-notch. Ingredients makes a dish, and Speedy is no exception. The San Marzano tomato sauce they use is noticably tastier. The dough has great elasticity, with nice, small air pockets. Well done!
This pasta is so good that whenever I make a pasta at home or partake of some anywhere else, I say in my head or out loud “how does it compare to Speedy Romeo?”
Great lunch special! We loved the mortadella pizza with pistachio butter. Also the Dick Dale was a hit. The salads were big and well dressed. Good vibes all around.
This was an EXCELLENT dining experience. The entire staff was incredibly cautious with covid protocols, the food came out in perfect time and the pizza was to die for. Watching this restaurant with the watchful eye of a food and restaurant entrepreneur was a truly impressive experience. I can not recommend Speedy Romeos enough.
Fantastic thin crust pizza and the pickled peppers they place on the table are heaven. The wings and grilled octopus were also hits. Everything we ordered had a nice wood fired touch. The pizza was fresh and the combination of toppings made each bite very flavorful. I wish the pictures could capture the aroma of the food and restaurant...you'll have to go and try it for yourself! The staff was attentive too. I recommend making reservations for dinner - it was pretty busy even on a weeknight.
NY style pizza isn’t my favorite - I know, sacrilege - but I thought Speedy Romeo pizza was pretty solid. We had three people for dinner, so I was a little disappointed that we could only get 12” pies, but we made it work. I thought the prices were a bit on the high side, but that may be a little price shock from my first night in the NYC area. The restaurant itself was awesome - kind of an industrial feel - and the service was spectacular. The few negative reviews I saw were critical of service, but I am guessing that was just a bad night.
Came to Brooklyn for the weekend all the way from little Knoxville TN to visit my fiancés family and the last stop on the way out before heading home was for pies at speedy Romeos and boy are we glad we did they were not only the pest pizzas of the trip but the best pizza I’ve ever had hands down we got a classic kids cheese pie and the white album and both were amazing. Will definitely be back for more next time we make the trip back up.
Accidentally stumbled upon this gem when a group of us were hungry for brunch while visiting Brooklyn from Toronto. What a find! The prices are ok given they're consistently recommended by Michelin. The pizzas are exceptional, made in a wood fired oven. I also had one of the best bloody Mary-s I've had in my life here. Would highly recommend
Speedy Romeo is firing on all eight cylinders! Seriously, could not have been more pleased with our dining experience. Started off with the KC Style Wings which were phenomenal. For pizzas, we got the King Salami and Mike's Broccolini sans broccolini and both were very delicious. We finished off our meal with the Chocolate Cake, one of the best desserts I've ever had. So frickin' good. Server was a total sweetheart and took great care of us. All in all, just a fantastic meal!
I brought my two young kids here after an outing to the Brooklyn Children's Museum. The space is pretty fun as it is an old autobody shop, and definitely has a very Brooklyn vibe. The pizzas were great, and came out quickly. My kids enjoyed a margherita pie, while I went with the White Album. The server was kind, and was very sweet with my kids.
Finally stopped by here for dinner and we loved it! The staff was also very friendly and attentive, great service. For two of us, we got a White Album pizza (YUM), a side of roasted potatoes and the mozzarella (the raisins and sweet potatoes gave it a sweet twist that was very nice). We ended up with one slice of pizza, some leftover potatoes and two satisfied appetites. Will definitely be returning. As you can see from my pictures, it’s very dark inside at night.
So, of course, I found them through insta, and the food looked amazing. Went there and was not disappointed. The service was great. We went at lunch so there was a different menu for dinner so there were some things we could not order. Otherwise, what we ordered was delicious. I'm definitely going back to check out the dinner menu!
I ordered the Margherita pizza and it did not disappoint. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! The dough is pillowy soft with a nicely charred crust. With every bite delivering a delicious taste of Marzano tomatoes and creamy mozzarella. You will want to savor each and every bite before it is gone. Speedy Romeo is a standout spot to visit and you will not leave disappointed
Incredible pizza and very kind staff. They make it very easy to recommend!
I love this place! Amazing food and service. I try to visit this spot every time I'm in the neighborhood. Can't recommend enough!
Whenever I am in Brooklyn I have to stop at Speedy Romeos for some of their delicious pizza. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so chill! The staff is nice every time, they always have the best suggestions and they keep the place spotless! I get the Kind Brother Pizza($21). It is the best pizza I have ever had! I highly recommend you give it a try :) I’m sure you will love every pizza on their menu just as much as I do!
OMG unbelievable place!! Forget Italy…save your money and hassle of getting a passport…just head over to this place. Pizza is outstanding, Cacio e Pepe…the best!! Chicken parm…classic yet a subtle diff from what we expected, roasted cauliflower and meatballs…again…you see where I’m going here…one of the best places in Brooklyn (Clinton Hill) if not all of the 5 boroughs!! Did I mention the deserts!
Speedy Romeo saved my book club. It was the aftermath of the January storm of 2026, we had read Rejection by Tony Tulamithutte, and 13 readers had been told to come hungry. After three different drivers bailed on us and the delivery service canceled the order, Catherine helped us arrange our own pick up—and the pizzas, meatballs, and stuffed peppers were well worth the wait. Thanks, Speedy Romeo!
Very family friendly. Porbs because of the neighborhood. Is the pizza worth enduring a five year old describe the plot of Lilo and stitch but it's actually rush hour? ABSOLUTELY TOP 10 PIZZA IN THE CITY.
As a St. Louis transplant, I’ve spent decades searching for a St. Louis style pizza in NYC to poor success, but everyone pointed to Speedy Romeo as my last, best hope. So, for better or for worse, I’m going to endeavor to compare this pizza to the square beyond compare. The wood-fired crust at Speedy Romeo does not resemble the cracker-thin St. Louis slab, but it sure is tasty. These sauces and toppings feel too high falutin to be found in my favorite St Louis takeout, but, oh, I enjoyed them, too. The cheese- I made sure to order a pizza with provel cheese- the cheese instantly took me back home. It hit the mark and even made me a little homesick. I loved it and will be back soon. In the end, Speedy Romeo felt a little bit like New York, a little bit St. Louis, but it was mostly its own unique and delicious style. I’d recommend it to anyone from the Lou, anyone from the city- anyone at all.
Speedy Romeo has some of the best pizza in the city. The crust is just PERFECT. Thin but with enough consistency, crunchy in all the right places… just wow. We order a pizza approximately once a week and are always impressed. We like eating there too - it’s casual and the food is delicious. Good wine and craft beer selection. Their Caesar salad is top notch. Just go and thank me later. 🍕
Found this place on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list, which denotes establishment that have high quality food at reasonable prices. Speedy Romeo definitely lived up to the description. I went with some friends and had four different pizzas so we could try a few things. St.Louie - Bar style pie, where the pickled peppers and provel cheese shine Dangerfield - a deconstructed meatball sub and my wife’s favorite King salami - nice meat lovers pie, I was excited about the fennel salami ( finocchiona ) but couldn’t really taste it with all the other flavors Truffle shuffle - this was my favorite one, pepperoni with a little truffle ranch made for a nice savory experience I will definitely be back to try the pasta
This place totally lives up to the hype. The octopus and stuffed peppers were a great start, and then we got the King Salami and Truffle Shuffle pizzas. Outstanding. With all the excellent spots in the city, would come back here in a heartbeat.
I had a quick lunch here last week and I’ve been coming here for years and it’s a great spot. It’s more on the expensive side but the pizza is good. I ordered the burrata pizza which was my favorite. And then the meatballs one. I ordered a drink I didn’t enjoy and the bartender noticed and offered me something else instead. I really appreciated that.
A great cozy experience today with 4 adults and 4 children. Had a little back area to ourselves and it was quiet at 1pm. Service was great and food was fantastic. Kind Brother pizza, Morrie’s Wig Shop pizza, and Italian Panuozzo were standout stars. They also made a “standard pepperoni” pizza for the kids which was excellent in its own right but also was devoured by the kids and left the adults wondering if we should have ordered it…
This pizza was almost perfect. I ordered it ahead of time, and it was a little cold when I arrived (I almost always order ahead, and other places have not had an issue with this). Nonetheless, I was still able to appreciate the brilliance with which this pizza was created. It was perhaps the best take on a Naples style pizza I’ve had this far, save for one flaw. The base margherita came with red pepper flakes, which made the pizza a bit hotter (in flavor, not temperature) than it needed to be. While the first bite was great, this added up over time and the last bite was too spicy. Nonetheless, this was the best crust on a Naples style pizza so far, and this pizza is one step away from perfect. Just order it without the red pepper flakes :)
New favorite pizza spot in this neighborhood! First time we went there it was very busy on a Thursday night tho so expect a wait for the food when it’s busy. Went there a second time on a Wednesday, wasn’t very busy and got the food very quickly! All pizzas I tried have been good but favorites so far are White Album and Truffle Shuffle.
A wonderful dining experience. Arrived promptly for our reservation on a Monday night. Luckily, it was all day happy hour on Monday’s. Ordered four pies and the buratta and tomatoes which I highly recommend. The broccolini pizza is the best one on the menu, if the crust was crispier and the crust was not soggy towards the center of the pie, it would be perfect. The service can be difficult to reach if you sitting outdoors, but the wait staff are trying their best. They forgot about an order of ours, but it came out shortly after it was mentioned and they were kind enough to take it off the check which was a nice gesture. Overall, I plan to bring all my friends and family here.

Love the food - the pizza is delicious and salads are good too. Come for the weekday lunch special (salad + pizza for 20 USD)! Service varies on who it is, some of the staff are truly wonderful, some are not.
Enjoyed the meal! We had the king salami and the white album pizzas of which the salami was excellent but the white album felt more like a large grilled cheese sandwich/mozzarella stick, it was extremely cheesy and oily- a little too much for our taste. Very minor critique, on the whole was delicious. Will come back!
The place was very cool looking. The pizza was good but not great. The service was definitely the weakest part.
The ambiance outside is very distinct, it feels like a Disney montage of an outpost restaurant. Strikingly gorgeous. The ambiance inside is dive bar mixed with neon decor, also very nice. The pizzas are to die for, and the chocolate cake w marshmallows for dessert was a nice surprise. 100% would come back.
Amazing pizza. Great wings (so long as you get them well done). On our first visit, the gentleman who took care of us could’ve absolutely been friendlier and more welcoming but the girl who helped us out on our last visit was great. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name but she had a really nice accent. One thing I absolutely must note is that on both visits, there seemed to be a pretty bad fruit fly issue going on. On our most recent visit, we went to the bathroom and saw it was very poorly maintained and was full of fruit flies so even tho we actually really like this place and would love to go back, we’re going to let some time pass and hope they figure out how to resolve the fruit fly issues they’re having.
Came here for a quick lunch with a friend! I got a margarita pizza with an extra topping, and my friend got stuffed peppers. Hers came out way before my pizza which took a weirdly long time. It was pretty good, but shouldn’t have come out 10 minutes after my friend got her dish. Service was fine.
Great neighborhood spot the service was super swift and moved quickly! Very kid and family friendly which is nice! Went there with my niece and sister. We got two pizzas and spaghetti along with two Lambrusco! I enjoyed the time there the Burrata pizza was just my favorite, the pasta was okay a little greasy but overall great spot! Pizzas are about $20 each fairly medium sized slices! More on the expensive side but good! Also got the chocolate s’mores brownie cake it was good and spongy sweet but not overly!
Well early on Sunday's, the restaurant seems rather understaffed with the host doubling as my waitress. She's quite efficient and very kind as is the rest of the staff. I look around the restaurant and see everyone quite satisfied in their meals and I'm not going to be a "food creep" and take pictures of their meals. The ice coffee was good nothing special but did the job. The pizza is taking freaking forever, I was even able to fit a job interview between ordering and still waiting for my pizza. I'm hoping the length of time is correlative to it's deliciousness but we'll see. Well I saw, as the Truffle Shuffle, shuffled right into my mouth. This a very good pizza, the pepperoni blended with the truffle-ranch cheese is unexpectedly delicious. Each flavor accentuates the others creating a rich tapestry of texture and flavor. I highly recommend this pie and I look forward to trying others in the future!! Next on the list is Lombardi's, in my pizza review quest, so stay tuned!!
The food was ok. Wings were good, pizza was Ok. It was interesting to try ST Lou style pizza in NYC. The waitress was good and very nice, but the second server seemed like he did not know what he was doing. He brought our pizza and the tiny table was still full of appetizers. He was a bit rude and almost dropped the pie.

I've only had delivery and the pizza was incredible. However I did have a promo code which is why I finally ordered from here as it is a bit pricy (at least to order online). The pizza arrived hot …
First, the food: I love it that it’s fresh. I love thin crust. I hate the Parmesan they’re using now, too sharp.. almost tastes fermented. With that said, the Caesar salad is possibly the best in NY (be aware, it comes with a ton of cheese, and anchovies on top, adjust accordingly). Second, the location: I love the industrial design, a tad too dark though. Lastly: SERVICE. I hate it. Yes, the staff are doing everything they need to do, but the expression on their faces is so… as if they’re abused there. Never smile, just bored with you and want the interaction to end before it even started. Also taking their time slouching around talking to each other instead of bringing me the drink I ordered 10 minutes ago.. 🤦♀️ For these prices, it’s not worth it.
We went out in BedStuy to a place we were excited to try and heard good things about. Unfortunately we were met with not great service and okay food. The waiter seemed perturbed by my friend and I catching up and tried to hurry us up while eating. Not even offering us dessert. There seemed to be no one waiting afterwards either. Overall okay food with subpar customer service.
I was pumped about this place because a few of my coworkers had singled it out as one if the best pizza places around. And don’t get me wrong, the owners really nailed the venue, the presentation, the seating.. everything about this place is so well done. I just didn’t like the pizza. I think the crust was awful and i find thats sometimes because one pizza was made that way, and it could be different next time. But im doubting that bc i feel like the crust i had was intentional and it just wasnt my thing. Airy and crispy edges, super thin and nonexistent in the middle. Im normally okay with spending like $20 for my own little pizza but not if im still hungry after it. The restaurant itself is great for groups and i think first dates too. Depends on the date obviously but its clean and has an upscale brooklyn feel to it. Can get expensive quick and you might need to eat after it. Pizza Tour Stop #6 - 6.5
We went for an early dinner. Only 3 tables were occupied. The staff was chatting for quite a while instead of coming over to the table. Our appetizer, roasted potatoes sat at the window a few minutes so it was cold when we got them. We ordered the branzino and the king salami. The fish was dry, pizza was pretty good. I've been here a few times and had a negative experience the majority of the times.
The food was OKAY but the service was weird. Both the hostess and our waitress were very cold to us. They were apologetic to us when we explained that we waited a while to get served and we saw them to go other tables. She also treated the table next to us like they were asking for a lot after they got served burnt bread and just wanted a fresher piece. And the hostess wasn’t warm and inviting. Just sat us down a barely said a word. I just think the staff should always be inviting in an eatery. Makes the experience better. The best service we got was from the runner and the bartender. Crazy.
Pretty good pizza, but service is slow (55 minutes to get a margarita) and the place could have been cleaner and more pleasant (see pictures). the beet and ricotta starter is good. skip the cauliflower. I like charred crust, but this was overbaked and didn't retain a chewy texture like quality pizzas.
Pizzas were good, but nothing to be wow'd over as I thought I was supposed to have been. As the pics show you get a lot of dough crust to eat as well. Give me more substance than that! The stuffed pepper appetizers were surprisingly way tastier than I thought they'd be. We all agreed that was the best dish. Totally recommend those. Avoid the meatball sandwich. The bottom bread was burnt so found ourselves eating just the meatballs themselves, or on top of the top bread like hors d'oeuvre, but even then the meatballs didn't taste that good either. Atmosphere was chill seated outside
Pretty good food. Unique recipes, lots of seating. I found that the music was a bit loud, but that is very subjective. What seems to be objective is the terrible rude waiter, a man with blond hair …
Your mileage may vary - I used to love this spot for dining in, but my recent takeout and customer service experience was pretty disappointing. Hopefully it’s not one of these places that gets big and goes downhill. I made an online order and arrived at the time they gave me. The pizza was ice cold -left in the counter, no heat lamps or anything- and all they offered was to reheat it. They had also forgotten to make the third item I ordered, and the portion I got eventually was significantly smaller than when I had dined in here. While it would’ve been standard to offer a replacement or some small add-on to make up for it, they couldn’t have shown any less interest. Left with $75 of soggy reheated pizza, a tad of pasta, and a not so great experience.
This place was more focused and competent when it opened over a decade ago but feels like it’s just going through the motions now. We got dense room-temp meatballs, a mushroom pizza tasting overwhelmingly of sage, and another one with soppressata that was whimsically cut into a grid ensuring all the perimeter slices were just crust and all the interior ones were flaccid gloopy squares whose toppings wound up all over your fingers. (You can only pull off this square thing when you make a crispier crust.) Both came out warm but not hot, as further evidenced by the glob of uncooked egg white on the white pie. The service was a bit sloppy, like unsupervised college kids doing the least but meaning no harm. Pretty good Caesar salad though!
The pizza was tasty, but the portions are absolutely minuscule. I wanted to order pizzas for a housewarming party to feed a dozen adults: ordered four pies delivered for $115. Couldn’t even feed half of us! Absolutely absurd prices for some of the smallest pies I’ve ever had. One pie was a children’s pie and yet they were all the same size—nowhere on the delivery website are the pie sizes indicated.

DO NOT order delivery here. We tried that with Speedy Romeo's ridiculous Ubereats/Postmates option as a birthday splurge -- paid $105 in full, and the delivery person left our food in front of a sidewalk door somewhere in Brooklyn. (They took a nice photo of it to show us.) Called Speedy Romeo, whose phone hostess said, "Sorry, we just make the food. Delivery has nothing to do with us." So why sell your food for delivery? Goodbye to greedy SR and its overpriced pizza, hope the stoop rats enjoyed it. UPDATE: Appreciate the Speedy Romeo staff reply and excuse for why they can't/won't help when their deliveries go wrong, and their $100+ is simply lost. Hey Speedy Romeo staff...instead of sharing your "we won't help with deliveries story," if you really want to express any accountability, how about a free pizza? (Delivered to the correct address, preferably.) I'll even follow up with a positive review.
In all my life, I still think back on this place as having the worst service of any restaurant. I tried to dine here a few years ago and there were apparently two separate reservation lists. ??? After waiting over an hour, those who were on one list were told there was confusion in maintaining the reservations, and we wouldn't be seated that evening. They did absolutely nothing to make it up to us. Why would they? It's pizza, people would be back tomorrow in droves regardless. Then I offered to get a pie to go, the hostess said 30 mins. After 30 minutes I followed up on the pie and was told she meant it would be 30 minutes before they would start to make it, but now the kitchen is backlogged, so they're not making it. There's nothing Speedy about this place.
My boyfriend and I stopped in last Saturday night around 10:15 and asked for a seat outside. We were originally sat in a corner, but after sitting there a few minutes waiting for service, I realized something kept dripping on us from above. The waiter was within about 20 feet, so I tried to wave him over and quietly ask to move tables. He looked up at me and was like, “what’s up?” I told him I would like to move tables and he asked from far away why. So, I told him and asked to move. He shrugged his shoulders at me and said, “sure.” My boyfriend and I were left to pick up everything from the table and move it ourselves while our waiter went back inside and hung out with his friend at the bar. Our food came and he placed down a hot pizza half off the table and just walked away back inside to again, just hang with his friend. We eventually just wanted to leave and when I saw him through the window and tried to wave him over, he did a princess Diana wave, as to be condescending towards us. He finally came over and we asked for the check. He didn’t even say a word to us and then brought the check over and left the card machine on the table and walked away from us. We both swore to each other after, that after years and year in the neighborhood, we would never be back there. This place has really gone down hill and I don’t love going out somewhere and being treated like I’m an inconvenience for trying to spend money there.
From Best to Worst: A Quick Food Rundown Let’s start on a high note — the pizza here is still fire. Crispy crust, solid sauce, and that cheese pull? Chef’s kiss. Definitely still worth the stop if you’re craving a good slice. Now… the burger. Once upon a time, this was the spot for one of the best burgers around. But something’s changed — whether it’s the way it’s cooked or how it’s served, it just doesn’t hit the same anymore. Kinda disappointing, honestly. Unless they revamp it, I wouldn’t order it again. If you’re here, stick to the pizza — that still delivers.
I ordered online via Toast and just received my order. It was incorrect - even though the receipt was correct. I ordered a St. Louie and a Dangerfield. Why did I receive a Truffle Pizza instead of my St. Louie? I despise truffle-anything, so eating it is not going to happen. I atrwpted to call the restaurant multiple times and was sent to a voicemal box that is full. For the amount of money I paid, this inaccurate and nonexistent service is unacceptable.
JUST PAID $95.64 FOR 2 TINY PIZZAS. I placed an order for 2 pizzas through Uber Eats. IMMEDIATELY called the restaurant and told them not to make them and they told me the only way to fix it was by canceling in the app and placing the order again which I did.... 90 minutes and 6 customer reps later, they say I can only get a refund at the restaurant. The staff at the restaurant says I can only get a refund through the app... So here we are... $95.64 for 2 pizzas and the original pizzas were never even made. Normally, one of my favorite pizzas, but I will NEVER GO BACK IF THE RESTAURANT DOESN'T MAKE THIS RIGHT.
