Yummy food! Fast service! Great place! Best Samsa in New York City!
Amazing Uzbek food and great atmosphere! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The tandir dishes were especially delicious tender meat, authentic taste, just like home. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the best Uzbek restaurants in the area. Highly recommended we’ll be back again!
I’m been eating at this place for more than 10 years, at least once a week. Mainly Uzbek traditional tander dishes. Most famous for their samsa, must try!!!
Most criticism lacks reasonable perspective. Tandir Rokhat takes pride in their food. This spot mixes high-end design with cozy touches. Their employees treat customers like longtime friends. We enjoyed every aspect of this spot.
When it comes to Uzbek traditional food, I come or order online from this place! They've got everything you need, fresh, super tasty, the portions are decent size, always on point! I don't regret ordering here, never had any single issue with them! Highly recommended! Abdulla provides highly exceptional customer service, I'm more than satisfied with those guys who work there! Thank you so much, I'm lucky to have this place in my neighborhood! Update: simply the best plov! Tashkent supermarket otdihaet v storonke :))
This restaurant made my day- no, actually, made my whole month. The tandoori samsa was so good, with its perfect combination of flaky, crumbly dough and savory, juicy minced meat. The lagman portion was very generous, and it was packed with rich flavor that transported me immediately to the vast wonderland of Central Asia. The staff was genuinely friendly, and one of them had a smile like straight out of a Hollywood movie—handsome and charming! I only wish I were a resident of Sheepshead Bay or Brooklyn at large so I could come here regularly. This place is a gem.
Very unique place located right off the belt parkway. I was brought to this place by a coworker. I could see even before I stepped in that they had a tandoor right up front. Naturally, I had to get a few Samsa tandoori. The texture was really good, and so was the flavor. Nice and crispy on the outside, but not burnt. The inside meat was ultra tender. The meat was a blend of beef and lamb with spices. I got 3 and some white sauce for a pretty reasonable price. 3 was a lot. I think 2 would be okay for a good size lunch or snack. I'll be back to try some more tasty treats from here.
The best Uzbek food hole in the wall in Brooklyn. I have not had more delicious Uzbek food in any of the neighboring restaurants (and I went to all of them - multiple times). This small shop has the best samsa (meat, pumpkin, and spinach). My favorite is pumpkin. The manti are quite amazing as well. Make sure to have them with the tomato sauce and the garlic vinegar (you can get it right there) at the one table they have, or take it to go in small containers. Always stop by this place when I’m in this part of town.
Come here for some authentic Uzbek fast food that tastes even better worth their home made sauce. They've got three four kinds of somsa (similar to Indian samosa) - with meat, pumpkin, spinach, and meat but with different dough. All made in authentic Uzbek tandoori (clay oven). Try tandoori kebab as well, but don't get large portion because it's quite heavy food. There are also vegetable salads and Korean fish salad. Although you can eat inside, the place is designed primarily for take out. Try everything! Definitely coming back.
Decent take out place with delicious tandoori samsa. In March 2025 I stopped by Tandir Rokhat to buy some food for home and to taste a few items for review. The place is small, with a primitive interior, cheap utensils, and paper plates. It has a food smell that soaks into clothes if you choose to dine in. IMO, Tandir Rokhat should be considered as a takeout only. The food left mixed impressions with some dishes being excellent but others - far from so. Overall, I may recommend Tandir Rokhat as a takeout place for excellent tandir samsa, manti, baklava, and perhaps lulya kebab. Food ordered Samsa Tandoori - delicious! Tasted great and fresh, plenty of meat and flavor. Belyash - it was pretty good. I wish it was made right on order rather than reheated but it was still good. Manti - excellent! Juicy, thin dough, flavor tasty filling. These are huge! Pumpkin Samsa - pass on this. Under salted and lacking flavor. Lulya Kebab with Potatoes - good, flavorful, but over salted. Side of roasted potatoes with caramelized onions was excellent. Chicken Kebab - tasteless :( Pass on this. Kimchi Salad - ok Carrot Salad (morkovcha) - too much vinegar and too little flavor. Eggplant Salad - ok. This just a mix of roasted eggplants with the "carrot salad" + few roasted peppers. Baklava - perfect! Fresh, soft, how it should be! Fatir with Butter - it was ok, but far from what it should be.
Came here for a quick bite & coffee while waiting for bike repair The place is under new ownership and has undergone a new renovation. More space and tables now. Much more comfortable than previously. I like the setup. The food is good as before and prices are affordable. It’s a good local spot and you can sit by window looking outside.
# Tandir Rokhat Restaurant Review **Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5 stars)** ## Disappointing Experience with Uzbek Cuisine I recently ordered delivery from Tandir Rokhat through Seamless, as the restaurant doesn't offer their own delivery service. Be prepared to pay significantly more than your food bill - delivery fees, service charges, and regulatory fees can easily add 30% to your total, even if you live nearby. The restaurant does offer pickup as an alternative. The food arrived within an hour, but as someone familiar with traditional Uzbek cuisine, I found the experience largely disappointing. I ordered a variety of dishes including two types of samsa (meat pastries), chicken kebab, tandir kebab, Asian bread (supposedly tandoor-baked), and pilaf. ## What I Ordered: **The Good:** - **Samsa (Meat Pastries)** - The only dish that felt authentic and was prepared well. These were properly seasoned and had the right texture. **The Disappointing:** - **Tandir Kebab** - The most expensive dish on my order, but it had an off-putting sour taste that made it inedible. I ended up throwing it away completely. - **Rice Pilaf (Pilav)** - Overly oily and overcooked, lacking the delicate balance that makes this dish special. - **Chicken Kebab** - Overcooked and dry. - **Asian Bread** - Despite claims of being tandoor-baked, this tasted like stale supermarket bread that had been sitting on the shelf for days. ## Final Thoughts The majority of dishes were either too oily, overcooked, or had strange off-flavors that raised concerns about food quality. For a restaurant specializing in Uzbek cuisine, the execution fell well short of expectations. **Recommendation:** Unless you have a specific dish you've tried here before and know you enjoy, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for authentic Uzbek food. The high delivery costs combined with inconsistent food quality make this a poor value proposition.
This review is for take-out food from Tandit Rokhat. As Central Asian food, particularly Uzbeki food, is becoming quite popular and since the food is generally delicious and flavorful, I have sampled quite a few of these restaurants. I find that Tandur Rokhat has decent food at affordable prices, but it is by no means more than ordinary. I ordered five items... the Uyghur Samsa was good with flavorful tender meat, although too baked for my palate. The fatir was awful, not at all fresh, drenched in fat, burnt on the underside. They had it in saran wrap which indicates to me it had been on their shelves for a couple of days. The soups: shurpa soup was good and flavorful while the lagman soup was rich and had lovely handmade noodles. Finally, the Lula kebab with potatoes was a good portion with the kabobs very good while everything else was too oily and too salty. So, in conclusion, decent food at decent prices, much lower than some other places. But, there is much better Central Asian restaurants as their competition and I don't mind paying more for food that I like more, elsewhere.
The Uzbek restaurant is located in the Homecrest/Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn. I ordered the flat bread called toki. It was very similar to Jewish matzoh. It was plain and had minimal taste. The green samsa was a small circular shaped pastry with some green filling. The pumpkin samsa was the same except it was filled with small diced pieces of pumpkin. The manti was an entree with 5 steamed dumplings filled with a chewy meat that was disappointing. The restaurant is plain with a simple decor.
Basic, super greasy pilaf, basically slides down your throat, pickles are extremely salty can't even swallow, serious language barrier. Would not recommend. Surprised to see such high ratings. Much better food else where. Samasas are drowned with cumin, def don't order that unless you like chewing on cumin, some bites were pure cumin spice.
I ordered a chicken kebab & rice while getting my bike serviced across the street at Roy's. My chicken was undercooked...like...not even close to cooked. I had to send it back twice. TWICE! The first bite I took was close to raw. I still had some doubts when I got it back the third time. I did not feel well afterwards. They say you should always blame incompetence rather than malice. But...incompetence on that scale is...really incompetent. Salmonella can be deadly. Maybe the person they had on the grill was new? I don't know. The rice was good.
