Good food, good rooftop views. A little more expensive than the other places but one of few to offer indoor sit down AC
The best home fries we ever had. It was a great place for brunch & the music was great.
Brian, the Bartender was great guy. So was his partner. Ask him about a game the Jersey boy taught him. Lol.
I can't say enough great things about this place! First time we have been to New York or Coney Island and we've stopped at several places to try all the food and drinks. This place was the winner out of all of them! They had great food and drinks and the service was the best I've had from ANY resteraunt. I highly recommend this place for everyone!
We enjoyed our afternoon here with great cocktails and food, being helped by the friendly owner and his staff! Loved the quesadilla's!
the roof top seating worked out well except the good service & water. they gave me small cups & did not keep them filled. and told me NO BEER BOTTLES allowed on the roof but other tables had tjem
Love this place, though it’s on the boardwalk mixed in with all the other not so great food choices, Tom’s is an exception! Their service match their food quality, both great! The space is great for groups or just two people, and it’s never too crowded. Pay them a visit.
Brilliant service, lovely staff and very friendly. Had hot dogs and pint and sat outside. Delicious.
Food was way better than we expected and service was even better!! The guys in here were AWESOME and made sure they took care of us.
The "go to" for pancakes... with a view! There are so many great options. I have yet to deviate from the lemon ricotta pancakes as they are absolutely delicious. Expect a wait, but it will be worth it.
Great experience! The cheeseburger I tried was delicious. Nice service, pleasant atmosphere. This place is on Coney Island boardwalk and close to all trains.
Food was alright, my server was fantastic. Forgot her name, but I think it started with a “Su”. Give her a raise!!!
Tom's is on hand all day. He's a great guy. Good food and drinks right on the historical Boardwalk. Summer time in Coney island is awesome.
Great location and reasonably priced, food was good, and the service provided by Richard and Celsius was outstanding.
The view, people. And experience is legendary. The beach The view the vibe is what Coney island is known for
The atmosphere is Coney island. The entire staff and management are friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended.
Rated 3.8? What a RIP off! This place is top notch. Brian and James are the best! Food (its bar/beach food) is consistently good!
GREAT GREAT GREAT Service. The manager Richie and the bar tender Juan was very welcoming and made us feel like we mattered! Great drinks and Greta atmosphere. I highly recommend! ♥
Lovely time on a Monday. The Bartender Mateo was absolutely the best. So friendly and hospitable. We walked around and came back to this spot. Drinks were awesome and so was the cheese burgers.
My friends and I came here on a whim and it was the best decision of the day! The staff, Mateo and Matt were super friendly and the food was delicious! Amazing prices, great conversation, wonderful atmosphere. 100% would recommend and I will be coming back the next time I’m in Coney Island :-) the roof has amazing views as well!
Went yesterday to watch fireworks and had some food and drinks. They treated us good. The staff were polite and helpful especially Michael waiter. Food was tasty and worth it prices can be a little less. I recommend this place to relax. Thanks Tom 👍
Tom's Coney Island is right off the boardwalk. What a better way to sit and enjoy your food on the boardwalk of Coney Island, on a beautiful Saturday Morning, with the view of the beach. My wife and I had the Banana Cinnamon Pancakes. It was delicious. The coffee was freshly made. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I truly want to give this place 10 stars! Super excellent, non overbearing customer service! service with soul....the portions are lge n well worth the $$. The sweet potato fries was super perfect along with chicken tenders! U cant go wrong with the wraps either! Dont believe the bad press on this thread. Standing ovation to our Resident Entertainer & Server .....Mario, He rocks!!! AM COMING BACK !!
If I could give this place more than 5 stars...I would! It was my first time eating here so I asked for recommendations on what I should eat. Excellent customer service, Best burger and onion rings I’ve ever had in my life hands down! My boyfriend had the Tom’s wrap and fries, he said it was soooooo good lol Even the drinks were delish! The overall staff is very attentive and welcoming! Mateo and Nick were amazing 🙌🏾 I’ll definitely be back!
The rooftop is a must, especially on Friday nights for the fireworks! I went with a large group and it was a perfect setting to celebrate together. The service was delightful and it’ll be the highlight of your Coney Island experience!
I visited Tom's on Monday June 19th. I asked for the chili cheese dog with onions. Unbelievable taste and quality. One of the best chili cheese dogs I've had! Highly recommended. Òn the Coney Island Boardwalk!!!!!
The food was delicious, as well as the rooftop patio! Manuel was an awesome server and he took really good care of us! The onion rings were delicious!
I have been coming to this institution for a number of years, primarily for its great breakfast. I actually prefer this location over the one in Prospect Heights for pancakes. I have always received friendly and fast service. You have a nice view of the boardwalk and beach and the prices are very reasonable. This is definitely a place to check out while visiting Coney Island.
It’s as central as it gets. They played „Piano Man“ by Billy Joel. The restrooms were clean. It’s an all American menu. We had burgers and mozzarella sticks. The burgers and fries were very good. It’s not low fat or low carb. But this is Coney Island. If you’re here, this is a good option. Has my recommendation.
Great little greasy spoon diner in the middle of the Boardwalk and very near the amusement park. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful and knew his stuff when helping us decide what to order. One big bonus is that it's an indoor diner (one of very few there) so great for all weathers (we were there when it was pretty chilly so this was perfect!!) Great value for money too.
Good diner which is needed in Coney Island great pancakes and waffles and eggs coffee and drinks good service can be busy during summer and special events
The burgers and fries were tasty. The drinks were okay. The whole place is a bit pricey, but it's a nice escape from the hectic boardwalk and hot sun.
Pretty chill place for a bite and drink while having a beach day. Standard American food burgers, fries, and wings. Very large portions!! Drinks are on the small side.
A fun spot with rooftop views of the beach. I would say go for a few drinks before heading somewhere else for dinner. Friendly staff and great music.
The burgers are great. The service is a little slow but its a busy place-- suck it up and enjoy the food because it's worth it.
Went for lunch with a friend. Lots of good food at a good price. Lots of seating. Not the greatest service, but everyone was nice.
Though a little pricey you can't beat eating at a diner near the beach. The food is good and filling for a boardwalk trip.
Great place on the Boardwalk. Food is okay prices are good. Drinks are good. Can't bring kids any longer to the roof top which is a downside. Loved coming on a Friday night for the food and drinks with a great seat for fireworks. Sitting outside beware of seagulls pooping on you.
Every year on Mother's day I visit Tom's as I love breakfast on the beach. Each year I have a different type of pancake and side order, it has never been a disappointment. I love the variety of choices. I am not sure how good the waffles or eggs are but maybe one day. The lost star is due to the customer service as its sometimes awesome while other times not so much. It has been my go to place since Coney Island Bagel's closed a few years ago.
Definitely great diner food -- had a great brisket wrap and amazing service from a friendly 22 y/o bartender. Despite prices, portion size is normal and recommended that each person order their own menu item if hungry
Tom's at Coney island was a good choice for lunch during our visit. It wasn't busy, and service was fast. The food was slightly overpriced, but that is to be expected at an amusement park. Our waiter was not extremely friendly, but he also wasn't rude, and as mentioned before the service was fast.
Tom’s Coney Island has a lot of potential, but our recent visit left us with mixed feelings. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we waited around 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Unfortunately, it seemed the waitresses were more engaged in a personal conversation with a friend than attending to customers, which was disappointing and definitely impacted our overall experience. Once we finally got our order in, the food was decent but not amazing. We tried the sweet potatoes — the cheese on top added a nice touch, but the dish overall could use some fine-tuning in flavor and presentation. The real letdown was the piña colada, which was underwhelming and definitely in need of serious improvement; it lacked the balance and creaminess you’d expect from such a classic drink. On the bright side, the atmosphere was one of the highlights. The location offers a pleasant view, which made the experience a bit more enjoyable despite the service hiccups. It’s a relaxing spot that could be great with more attentive staff and quicker service. As for the pricing, it wasn’t too bad — fair for the type of place it is. You're not breaking the bank here, but you’re also not getting top-tier quality or service. In summary, Tom’s Coney Island scores a 3.5 out of 5 for us. The food gets a 3, the service also a 3, and the atmosphere a stronger 4 thanks to the scenic view. With some improvements in customer service and a few tweaks to the menu, this place could become a solid local favorite.
4 stars for the view, ambiance and reasonable prices. Food is 3 stars max with a menu which is basically A-Z in fried stuff with not a vegetable in sight. The burger is actually great if only they would include a tomato slice and raw onion. Buffalo chick quesadilla again would be decent if it had guac or some red peppers in it. Mozza sticks could not be helped, honestly, so avoid those.
Their breakfast food is very good but I finally went there for lunch and was very disappointed. The food was expensive, hastily made, and had small portions. There was crappy music blaring out of a half blown speaker to the point that I kept having to ask my friends to repeat themselves. For breakfast, I still recommend them but lunch was awful.
A game that you can play here is "how many beers can you drink before you pass out in the sun?"! Also, "can someone turn down that music?!" Best would be "I don't need to get up, I can see the ocean from here". All true.
The staff was nice. The food was good. Nothing special, just normal “American” restaurant.
Basic boardwalk cafe. The food was probably the worst I’ve ever eaten. I think it was not just yesterday’s, but something older. French fries were insipid, high fructose corn syrup in ketchup, regular chicken tenders, but buffalo quesadilla was exceptionally bad. Sticky tables due to the paint. Human friendly staff though. Ocean view.
Fried fish was terrible. No flavor and overly greasy. Not much about this place other than the fact that it's on the boardwalk. Expensive drinks as well. It's what you would expect at a tourist attraction. You aren't coming here for some fine dining. Staff was pleasant and attentive though so there's that.
We only tried veg stuff. burger was good but onion rings were quite ok. Staff members are quite customer friendly .
Hey friends! This review is about sustainability only. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. So as a waterfront business, I wonder how you could help customers create less trash when coming in for a beer or a bite. Clearly, based on the dish bins you have out, and the real reusable dishes within them, you have some sort of dish dishwashing infrastructure available in the house. For this, I wonder if you could transition beers into real reusable cups, as you do soda and water (the sturdy blue Pepsi cups). It feels a shame to pour a delicious beer into a trashy flimsy plastic cup that will go to the landfill, incinerator, or ocean. Thank you for considering how to help your customers better respect the ocean on which this business sits. We want options to do better by this planet, and we can’t afford to wait longer to solve the plastic pollution crisis that our world faces.
Good location. Bad food. Atleast waiter was trying to be attentive. Will not return.
We only ordered a plain hot dog. There was nothing special about it. They did have fancy mustard. There was no line up compared to the neighbours.
Place is clean and nice ,food is great and I have amezing server some gril, she is been sow nice and worm with me , tnx one more time .but there is been some Latino Mexican guy , he try too push me out and I just order my 3 beer , he say I’m not aloud to siting there more or 40 min he need more tables and I order 3 beers and burger , maybe he can finish thet for 40 min but not mee... feel sow 😡 angry
Staff that greeted you were great. Service was good. 3 of 4 burgers came out but third came out after almost 10 minutes.i think the waiter forgot to put in for 2. The last one came out closer to rare. My friend didn't say anything. Burger was supposed to have onion strings which are fried. Instead it had plain onions that seemed steamed and put in BBQ sauce. The burger was just ok. Reminded me of a frozen burger with not a lot of flavor. Location was great. Ordered an egg cream since I love them. It didn't have enough syrup and was ripped with whipped cream. Never saw that before. Location made up for everything else.
It was a very mediocre experience. It captures the essence of the whole Atlantic island-y feel but it's all killed by the food. It's as good as a regular old diner and doesn't deliver a fantastic experience. The food is overpriced and pretty bland. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
Low quality and stale food. Stay away and save yourself.
The manager refused to give a group of children courtesy cups of water in the sweltering heat. This isn't just disheartening, it's also illegal.
Greasy spoon! However the staff is friendly and very courteous.. Great place for a bargain. But for me not at the expenae of my health!!
We asked for a cup of ice for a family member who has ALS, and they refused.
The food was horrible and over priced 10/10 don’t recommend oh and the margarita disgusting. I really hope these guys get it together before the summer ends.
Waitress doesn’t speak English food was worse than sonic.
I wouldn’t recommend burger came back hella pink I feel like they tried to kill me
The staff clearly doesn’t want to be there or acknowledge a waiting customer . If the staff doesn’t want to be there why would anyone wait 20 minutes for a drink .
On vacation with the family from GA and This is the worst place ever to eat. The waiter didnt come back and ask us if wr needed anything else. The owner or manager didnt even care about anything. The manager all he did was play on his phone. Please if you ever come here to coney island dont come here because they dont care about you..
Avoid this place. Staff is rude and blatantly ignored multiple tables (that all happened to be occupied by POC) during a non-busy afternoon. When I wasn’t served I left and told the staff the service was poor and I was alarmed when they told me not to come back. Horrible customer service, would give 0/5 stars if possible. In NY there’s so many incredible places don’t even bother wasting your time with this trash establishment
Owner was more concerned with keeping people out who were seeking shelter from a quick rain storm rather than serving the people there to eat.
To bad I can only give one star not less. Went in during lunch to grab something quick and was completely ignored by the entire staff as I sat at the counter waiting like moron for 20 minutes. I just got up and left don't waste your time.
ATE THERE TODAY AFTER NOT VISITING CONEY ISLAND FOR 20 YEARS.I PICKED OUT THIS RESTAURANT BECAUSE NATHANS WAS CROWDED AND THERE WAS NO SEATING.I SHOULD HAVE WAITED ON LINE BECAUSE I HAD THE WORST ROAST BEEF WRAP THAT I COULD IMAGINE.ROAST BEEF WAS OVERCOOKED AND DRY.THE SAD PART IS I PAID $15.00 .SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE.
Terrible service, below average food, long wait times
I didn't like this place one bit...service is beyond slow...they didn't have 4-5 things they claimed they had...no unsweetened tea, no beer but Sam Adams and budweiser...we got our food after a 31 minute wait...not to mention the 10 minute we waited just to order...our food was cold and looked gross...we walked out and didn't pay nothing...will never go to coney island again...if I could give no stars I would!!!
good staff and service but the food was Awful. would have been better off getting microwaveable chicken fingers than getting food at this place.
The food was terrible. The hot dog was a plain bun and sausage, no option to add anything. The fries were unsalted and only half cooked. Unfortunately the other restaurants next to it didn't look any better. I can only recommend taking your own food to the beach.
Service was very fast but that's all this place had going for it. I've never had a worse hot dog and the cheese on my cheese fries was basically yellow liquid. Do yourself a favor and just wait on Nathan's long line if you want a good hot dog and fries.
I was starving so I stopped here for the first time even though I’ve lived in the neighborhood for two years. Ordered a chicken quesadilla and piña colada. Asked if I could sit in the chairs outside and they said no, that it’s for people that want wait service only. I looked inside at the half-empty restaurant. Oh, I’m so sure me and my quesadilla are just going to take up all of your space! Every other place on the boardwalk offers outdoor seating. Ridiculous. I had to find a bench. Anyway, that was the WORST quesadilla I’ve ever had in my life. It was barely warm, made with fried chicken even though I can’t eat fried foods, they didn’t bother to make any new chicken either. This was made from old chicken tenders. It was soggy. No dipping sauces either. And a few nearly raw onions and peppers inside for flavor. I ate half because I was dizzy and threw the rest away. The piña colada was not bad, but very sweet. So anyway, I won’t be making the mistake of going back again. How they stayed open that long with food like that is beyond me.
It should be illegal to sell “food” like this. It’s unedible, as someone said- I didn’t have high expectations for board walk food but this is the worse i ever had.
Walked in with friends ,waited at the door for a few minutes until we asked if we can be seated. After being seated we waiting a while and nobody came up to us, so we had to ask for menues. After a few minutes of scanning the menu we all knew what we wanted. Yet again we waited and waited for somebody to acknowledge us, but nothing, we had to wave somebody down again. After they took our food order (and had been seated for a while) we realized we didn't have have table settings (no forks knives napkins). You guessed it folks we had to ask somebody for table settings. We were seated near the kitchen and knowing that the place was very empty (4-5 others tables at most besides us) we saw our food order at the window, it sat there for a good 5 minutes before anyone checked the window. All in all this place is pretty much self service with mediocre food no thrills here. Maybe I don't have patients but for a place that was rather empty, you'd think we could at least be greeted at the door, or given menues or even supplied with table settings. Will not be returning. Do not recommend.
Awful food. Overpriced, burned. Very disappointed. I ordered a fish sandwich, this consisted of a triangle piece of deep fried " minced fish" in breadcrumbs, it was burned/over cooked and served in a dry bread roll. Awful. The onion rings were also burnt. Horrible food. I had one bite of the vile "fish sandwich" and left it. Threw the rest to the seagulls, they weren't even interested!
Trash place. My soft serve tasted bad to both me and my nephew, like a chemical-taste. I brought this up to the counter girl, and she literally said, "I don't know what you want me to do about that..." Jose, the manager, was just as useless. He seemed to act like I was lying. Do better.
Hot dogs and sour kraut spoiled and moldly/smelly. The frozen drinks came in liquid form and when I asked server was told “sorry we didn’t have time for the machine to make it into a frozen drink” then why did you agree to serve it to me? She would not send the drinks back despite admitting this. Informed server of the expired food that was inedible. Asked to speak to manager and they would not come. Server said manager would only allow to remake the hot dogs but if we just got served two expired rotten hot dogs we don’t really want more hot dogs since it’s the same item from the same kitchen. Server was kind to us but had no control to help the situation since manager was not allowing for any resolution and wouldn’t even come speak with us face to face. They forced us to pay despite the food safety and quality concerns. They took away our full plates of uneaten food and gave us a very expensive check. Bathrooms and interior also have sanitary issues.
Worst french fries I've tried in a while, cardboard-like. The burger was overcooked. The only good thing was the hot dog. We purchased the food to go, then we changed our mind and went to a table, but the guard didn't let us in. I wouldn't recommend it, next time if I have to choose, I'll go to the McDonald's nearby.
Terrible experience. The order - First try … Came in, sat at the bar, a guy of about 20 is behind the bar looking at his cell, I’ll call him the boy, I waited quietly for about 3 minutes, then the girl from the to-go section came around behind the bar and discreetly “woke up” the boy. She wanted to take my order but the boy interfered and said that I had to order by the to go section and then come around to the bar. I was already uncomfortable, but I followed his direction. The order - Second try … The to go window had two cashiers, the girl was still by the bar, the second cashier guarding by a second boy, and yes you guessed, submerged in his phone. The same young girl came back from the bar and took my order using the second cashier. The service at the table … After ordering a cheeseburger, I came back by the bar and sat at a table right in front of the bar. The first and second boys went back to their cell phone. The place was almost empty, so probably it was too boring. After ten minutes, the girl from the to go section came by the bar and again discreetly talked to the boy, he “woke up” again, went to the kitchen and brought my cheeseburger, extra cold. The food… It was a bun with a burger and cheese. Nothing else. I guess I can’t complaint, it was exactly, quite literally what I ordered. Why would I expect lettuce, tomatoes or fries? In any case, it tasted like cardboard. Overall rating … terrible. On the other hand I am going to take some responsibility here as well. This took place on Saturday May 10th at around 4p. The boardwalk was full. Next door to this terrible place is Nathan’s and Ruby’s. Both places were full and loud. The only reason I considered Tom’s burger is because I wanted some quiet. No I know better.
Food was super poor. This the fried fish sandwich. Plane sandwich, no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no sauce at all. Just a little piece of fried fish and a hamburger bun. They charge you almost 20$ for this, just unacceptable. He offer to bring tartar sauce and never came either. At least the beer was cold.
Truly awful. My expectations are low for boardwalk food as is, and this was worse. I ordered at the window and then went to sit down and got stopped by a full uniformed security guard telling me that I couldn’t sit down because I had ordered from the to go window. Mind you, this was outdoor seating right outside of the window that I had ordered. So, I was annoyed. But I chocked it up to user error, despite me using very reasonable judgment. He said something dumb like, “you wouldn’t go to a McDonald’s drive-through and then go to eat inside, would you?” Anyway, that was just irksome. But worse than that, the hotdogs were inedible. The buns were completely dried out, the hotdogs were pork and had holes in them??? The casing was hard to chew through. Just not good. Would not recommend.
If I could give half a star I would. The menu here is lacking you'd think that because it's by the beach they'd have something seafood on the menu NOT..! My friend's and I ordered the Mexican Quesadilla, onion rings, cheese fries, and a chicken wrap. To drink we got Pina Colada (which was only chipped ice and Pina Colada syrup favor) ended up getting draft beer, and margarita. P. S. The bathroom is absolutely filthy your better off eating with dirty hands. The toilet was clogged and over flowing and the wall under the hand dryer has slim, and grease build up.. My hand accidentally touched the wall 😭 and I can't tell you how many times I've washed my hands with bleach and sprayed it with rubbing alcohol. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the disaster!!
