We love the fire-brazed chicken! It is so perfectly seasoned! The black beans were delicious, and my husband is really picky about beans. The mac 'n cheese was creamy and delicious.

I love chicken! So when I get more then just fried it hits the spot. We were not there for long since we had to book it to work. The time was perfect 😋

I have to say I usually come for the food not the service. I had given up on getting good customer service BUT today was different. Every staff member I encountered was nice and very helpful. I hope this isn't a fluke because it will definitely get me to come more often.

If I worked here, I would get fired for eating all the chicken and avocado salsa. Hee Hee!!! Wish they had a Pollo Loco in Harlingen. I drive to Brownsville just for the chicken. It is delicious and juicy. 🤓 Thanks Pollo Loco. Staff are always wonderful.

Excellent location plenty of parking clean organized and the food was probably some of the best fast food I've had in a long time the chicken is phenomenal. Highly recommend this restaurant you won't be disappointed

The place is always clean and I had the best interaction with a wonderful young man by the name of Samuel. He was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended several items for me to take my family.

Pollo Bowl needs to be offered with DARK MEET as well. If people would respect and not act like pigs then that place would be much cleaner. PRICES ARE REASONABLE

It was fast and affordable i think i spent like 50 for meal for 5 people. very filling and fast. The ladies are also very helpful although they seemed to forget what i had ordered and forget to give it to me . For example i had order corn and was waiting in front the girl went chatting towards the back and then came up to me was like can i help you i was like im waiting for my corn -_-. This is the very few pollo locas that i have seen being busy.

I am always surprised how quickly these folks can get your order out! We showed up to a line of about 12 people. They had us through the line with our food in less than 10 minutes. And the food was delicious! I had the chicken avocado bowl.

Customer Service is always top notch at this location for me and my family (Alton Gloor, Brownsville). Food comes out hot and fresh. The establishment is always clean and tidy. The drive thru window works at a very fast pace to process customers swiftly and efficiently.

The floors were wet, no toilet paper in the restroom. Service was not good. My husband had asked for a 2 piece leg and thigh and the manager said she couldn’t sell it to my husband because she had sold it to someone else. She(manager) was being rude to my husband. My husband cancelled his order. They’re not friendly and they’re always talking and laughing. We are not coming back to this location anymore.

Clean, fast, hot, friendly service. Handicap accessible. During covid they have limited seating only 49 customers at a time. This is not too bad except mayb at lunch rush. Clean bathrooms are also handicap accessible. Parking lot is workable for trailer and rv. You may be able to park on the side of the restaurant away from the side road, or on the side road.

Its very good. The only thing i didnt like is the flour tortillas need to be browned a little more the taste raw when too white.

Food is good and quick. They have a diverse, tasty salsa bar. They are a little pricey but food is all fresh do probably worth it.

Tostada salad for lunch. Seasoning was too hot! Maybe because this location is only 10 miles from Mexico. We used to drive 30 miles from Monterey to Salinas just to get El Pollo Loco. I was thrilled to stumble on this. Now not so sure.

Went thru their drive thru. 4 cars ahead of me and it went pretty fast. For a fast food restaurant, the chicken is very tasty & delicious. Their sauces are great too. Any meat that is flame broil is always delicious 😋 to my taste buds.

Very delicous! I had never had this, I ordered the Double Chicken avocado bowl combo. It leaves you very satisfied. Very tasty as well as the pico de gallo and avocado salsa. The cashier seemed inexperienced in customer service though. But everything else 💯

Food was just ok, not as good as it used to be. The cilantro cotija dressing was too watery. The chips were amazing. Restrooms were disgusting. Staff was friendly.

I've always liked the place. Ordered a Baja shrimp bowl! Literally 4 small shrimp in the bowl! Ridiculous! Not recommended!

A couple down sides. When I say no sour cream on one item, they take it off everything or they give me something completely different. The last time I said, no sour cream on one burrito and no chipotle on the other. No sour cream on both this time. The other problem is that a few times I have ordered the chicken meal and when I get home by chicken smells spoiled. It spells like it was starting to go bad and they cooked it hoping to kill off the bacteria. The burritos are good though. My wife didn't smell anything so it might have just been me.

I drove 27 miles to Brownsville to eat here the chicken tastes so fresh and it was ready only in a few minutes. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. I did not give it 5 stars due the fact that a solicitor came in asked an employee if it was ok then he went table to table trying to sell his cookies I had to tell him several times no before he left. I came in to relax and enjoy food with my family not to be harassed to buy cookies. If they allow this I will not return.

I love this place in general but in the last year its been so inconsistent. I typically order the Classic Chicken salad for years, only until recently I've been told its been removed from their menu. And other times I order it without any issues. I mean you have salad and chicken why can't they just make it, I love guac buy don't prefer it on salads or their double chicken salad, it's just different. Their chicken can one day be tender and juicy and other days be tough and burnt, never the same.

Food is good. Customer service two thumbs down. When at the counter the young lady did not greet me and was on her phone on Facebook. After I asked her if I could place an order her response was, "yeah sure what do you want?" So I placed my order and seemed not to be able to locate the items on the computer so the shift lead comes over and helps her. The lead the asked me if I was I the local rewards program. I said no the she tells me. "Well you should consider downloading the app. For every penny you waste with us you get 1 point. You order is currently $14 so would have earned 14 points." As a customer I would not like to hear that I am wasting my money at restaurant and second she has no math skill. How could I earn 14 points if apparently I am supposed to get 1 point for every 1 penny. Go figure.

Order here for the first time. Got the chicken nachos. They were so good I didn’t realize they forgot to put chicken on them. Would have given a five star but without the main component of my meal I just couldn’t. Maybe next time.

The food is great but it is very disappointing to pay for double the amount of chicken on the tostada bowls and only getting the same amount of chicken as the single order. This happens every single time I order from this place. Dear management, can you please talk to your cooks and tell them to put twice the amount of chicken when the customer pays for it?

Chicken tastes okay overall. Outer surfaces that were grilled is kind of dry, as expected from grilling. Inside the chicken pieces the meat was tender and falling off the bone, but somehow, I wish there were more flavors. If you want healthy chicken and try to avoid deep fried food, this is worth a try. But if you want more flavor and more tender chicken, and don't mind the greasy ciating, KFC and Pop Eyes got it beat.

Polo Loco was good but the girl taking our order was not pleasant. The chicken was dry but the taste was good. Since the last time we had chicken it seems like the portions went down. The sides were ok. Not outstanding. We will try it again but not for a while. It was an ok experince.

The cashier was pretty rude, and ignorant. It was pretty dirty, there was napkins all over the place. Soft drink area was dirty and lots of food from previous customers on the floor.

Ok where do I start. The chicken is good in taste the pieces are way to small. We orderd rice n beans the rice had no flavor the beans were just ok tasted like they were from a can. The corn tortillas seemed like they were heated in the microwave yuck..$$25 dlls for 8 pieces that is enough for 2 people not 4 that's a RIP OFF. I've eaten chicken plates that cost u 6 bucks and portions are bigger and way better than pollo loco. The lady's working there just give out a bad vibe. Looks like there barely there and dont listen to you. Nice establishment but it was just dirty the Floors were a mess and tables too. I dont recommend just too expensive..there are better chicken places in brownsville for your money.

Well first I should say the food is awesome I eat at pollo loco 3-4 a week no matter what hay city am at I have no complaints about the food , the service that’s an other thing yes they are friendly but fast food restaurant theres a problems they have kids working all the time don’t get me wrong there are some kids very mature, well yesterday Monday 22 they forgot my cilantro dressing n utensils today the 23 around 8pm went for an other tostada double chicken , let me say am staying over night at the hospital across the street , ok first my bowel had very little chicken and I ask for double chicken I know like I said I eat here a lot , I ask dressing Serrano salt n pepper n utensils, I didn’t get nothing plus the salad had not ever the correct amount of chicken for a regular bowl and I ask for double I had to walk around the hospital looking for utensils napkins n continents and should I say I was the only car in the drive thru I understand when they are pack they might forget something but I was the only car in line , this kids need better training and to be reminded every time they come in to work what’s expected of them . But eat more chicken guys 👍

I love the food but some of the employees are just plain 🤭 Mess up orders constantly then u go back and act like I’m trying to get free food. Showed them receipt online order lady wouldn’t even look . Don’t have paper receipt since it was online . Have me upset and go back 2 times for some churros. I didn’t get. I go there several time a month never again . This has been 2 nd time my order gets messed up. Other times I let them slide . Obviously need more training in customer service then she tells me with attitude. Waste of my time. My fault for not checking and trusting they will get it right.

Won't be going back. Double chicken bowl was served to me with day old dried up chicken; totally disgusting. Probably a health code violation. You literally make chicken all day long! Why skimp? Got to be a manager problem.

Came to place an order at 9:30pm and said “sorry we are closing at 10pm until further notice” other times have shown to place an order around same time and have said “sorry we don’t have any chicken”. Understand that restaurants close at certain times for cleanup but don’t advertise times that aren’t aligned with actual hours to offer full service to paying customers.

Very dry chicken there salsa bar was empty and tables were not clean . They we're not busy to be so poorly attended. No ice tea even if you let them know. Never again for us.

Hit or miss at this place usually a miss though. Id rather drive to boca chica from rancho viejo because this location USUALLY gets the order WRONG and if its not wrong the chicken is dry and skimped. I love Pollo Loco but this location really needs to step it up a bit.

I was in this El Pollo Loco, (Brownsville Texas, Alton Gloor), the other day with a friend. About halfway through our meal, I pulled a hairy white piece of something or other from my food. I called the young lady EPL employee clearing a table nearby and showed her what was in my food. We put it on a napkin and she proceeded to take it to her manager. After a few minutes the young lady reappeared without looking our way and began cleaning tables again. I got her attention and asked her what her manager had to say about the hairy thing in my food. Her reply: “Well the manager said it may have been a chicken feather 🪶 or something like that”. End of story. Epilogue: The so-called manager never came over to say anything, NOTHING. In fact, I never saw anyone that looked like they might be ‘in charge’. The young lady never came back to say anything, NOTHING. I was with others so we languished a bit so there was plenty of time for a representative of El Pollo Loco to come and a say something...ANYTHING. I will NEVER, ever darken any EPL’s doorways again (there are way too many other places to eat), and I will let as many people as I can about my experience. Hopefully the EPL corporate people will see this review and will stop hiring morons for management. Nasty.

Gave us the wrong order and forgot our drinks even after we paid! I try to avoid writing bad reviews but, I switched my review from 5 stars to 1, after being a long time customer I was disappointed with your pick up feature using the application. I placed an order using the app, paid for the order, and when I arrive 10 mins later they tell me they sold my chicken. What's the point of ordering ahead and arriving for sold chicken excuse? Now I'm still here 21 mins later with two kids yelling in my ear and have yet to receive my order or 12 piecies when 10 cars behind me have left with bags of chicken. Really? I suggest you stop selling chicken that was already paid for and training your employees on customer service. Not even a sorry, just a go wait 20 mins.

I feel ripped off. Paid $25 for an 8pc. family meal, the chicken was overcooked charred, and dry. We couldn't even eat it that's how bad it was. So disappointed, keep it up and you'll soon be closing down.

Order should have been ready by 1:06. I arrived at 1:10 and didn't leave with my food until 1:30. Staff was very unhelpful and took me asking a third time to confirm my online order was received. So many trays of food orders piled up since dine-in customers could not hear their numbers called. Long lines, slow/ rude service, messy front counter.

They were not very helpful and seemed like taking my order was an inconvenience to them. I tried asking but the app so I could redeem a coupon and was told it would be taken at the end. They had me scan my code but didn't take my coupon. I think if they had listened to my initial request instead of hurrying me along this experience would've been better.

No chicken 30 min wait argumentative with customers

I had been craving chicken all day but had to wait until my wife came home from work to get it. She got home around 9:30 and I went on my way in a great demeanor knowing I would finally eat what I had been craving after taking care of our 3 kids all day. I arrived at 9:45 which is late, but the store closes at 10:30 so I was hopeful they wouldn’t give me the run around. Unfortunately, they told me they had NO CHICKEN. NO CHICKEN at a place called el pollo loco. Their flagship menu item was the one thing they didn’t have. How are you going to name a place called the crazy chicken and not even have the chicken? Is that the reason behind it’s name? To drive you crazy when you order chicken? I rate this store a zero for inept management. 45 minutes before close and you don’t anticipate people coming by for chicken at a chicken place? My suggestion, close earlier with chicken ready and whatever money you lose from left over chicken, you make up for with less hours you have to pay out to employees for those dead hours which you ain’t making chicken.

If I could rate a 0 star I would have. Pollo loco has a secret menu that not everyone but most people know about. I visited today and asked for the Leg Lovers combo which I’ve ordered before at other locations. The person who took my order asked me to wait and then came back and said that they did not have a leg lovers combo but a wing lovers combo. I asked what that combo included and he said only wings. I did not place an order and won’t go back to this establishment simply because they were lazy and uneducated regarding their own restaurants secret menu. He could have offered me something else but just me go as a customer.

This pollo loco doesn’t compare to the one on boca chica. Terrible customer service. Their hours mark closed at 10:30pm yet you show up and they say theyre closed at 10. They also don’t accommodate to the customers needs. You can make certain changes on the app yet when you go through the drive through they cant make these adjustments. Never had this issue at boca chica ever.

Second time here. Both times was told they were out of chicken. At 5:45 they said it'd be a 20m wait so I waited. After going into the store three times and seeing a lot of other people who had ordered after me get food before me I finally got my food at 6:40. Food was ok, wait was unacceptable for "fast food." Would not recommend and will not be going back.

The supposedly close at 10:30pm. Went yesterday Friday a little before 9pm. They had the doors locked and they were cleaning. Went through the drive thru and they told us they could only take debit, which we agreed to. Then they said were all out of chicken. Seemed like they just wanted to close up early and get us out of there. Very bad customer service.

I ordered (1) half chicken meal online and I picked up in store at Alton Gloor Brownsville Texas location. Pick up time 7:34 pm. Date: Oct. 19, 2023. This is the issue: They gave me burned grilled chicken. I suppose not to complain but my wife was very disappointed on what she saw. I think the person who arranged the chicken inside the container has no conscience. He/she knows that the grilled chicken was burned and the color is black, why, why, why? The person still continue to packed that order. This is the second time we experienced like this. I am very disappointed.

Worst service. And more times than not… they have no chicken ready!!!! You all serve chicken .. it’s in the name!! Today is a prime example … 30 minute wait in the drive thru because they have no chicken ready to serve !!! With 4 cars in the parking lot !! Decided not to go to this location anymore !

This review goes for both locations in Brownsville TX. Terrible service ! First time my order was wrong I didn’t check it outside the store so I didn’t get that one fixed. Decided to try again but this time I checked it before leaving and it was wrong yet again. When we told the employees they were visibly bothered to have to fix it. I decided to submit a complaint online. The location manager reached out and offered a free meal. I was not interested in going back to that location (alton gloor). I decided to try the Boca Chica location only to find they were an even hotter mess! This time I ordered on the app for curbside pick up. Ordered 2 items and both were wrong. When we went to the drive thru to let them know the employee was very annoyed as if it was my fault they made the order wrong. Finally got the food after waiting another 15 minutes only to find that they only removed the onions from the Birria quesadilla ordered and didn’t even attempt to fix the chicken taco they did wrong. All in all I would definitely not recommend. Avoid Pollo Loco !

The food is good but the customer service and food preparation is lacking. Let me explain; Sometimes they will give you something else you did not order or will not apply their promotional discounts.... these workers are not present (thinking) at their job. If they make a mistake they are dishonest and if you catch them they will make little effort to make it right. Most likely a quality management issue ( not a good leader ).
