Opinions de The Remnant Of Nawlins Bryan
My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and the cold weather finally gave us the perfect excuse—and it did not disappoint! They were running a gumbo special when we went, and it was absolutely delicious. Our favorite item by far was the boudin balls with the dipping sauce… SO good. The owner/cook was incredibly friendly, and our waitress was just as welcoming, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot, and we’re already excited to go back and try their crawfish!
This place is so awesome. Today we had the DUO boil with two cran clusters, shrimp, corn, potato, egg and sausage. We were eating so fast we had crab shells flying everywhere. The food was hot and delicious.
Food was so delicious (I ordered the fish dinner with mac n cheese and dirty rice), and the staff were super sweet. It was my first time going and I ordered to-go. Food came out in no time and was hot and fresh. I will definitely be coming back.
My husband and I came to the area for a staycation. We're foodies so we really wanted to visit some local hidden gems. This place kept coming up on all the message boards. We're both from New Orleans and don't find authentic Cajun food very often so we had high hopes for Remnant after reading Corey's story and seeing the reviews. I knew when I saw the blue dog on the walls that it was going to be good! We were not disappointed! We got the Gumbo, and the combination plate with catfish and shrimp with jambalaya and red beans for the sides. Everything was delicious! Seasoning was on point! The roux in the gumbo was actually done right! (I've had a lot of bad gumbos made with terrible rouxs over the years) Remnant is only an hour from home. Hubby and I agree that it would be worth the drive to come back every now and then when we've got a craving for a taste of home.
We were CRAVING Good Seafood. Have been to many places in town calling themselves Cajun but all fell short. Till now. The Remnant of Nawlins is absolutely, without a question, Delicious. If you're in the mood for good authentic Cajun food, this is the place to go! A big PLUS was their Super friendly, knowledgeable and competent staff. I definitely recommend their Boudin Balls, just trust me on this, AMAZING! We had the shrimp platter and the Fish dinner. This was accompanied by their Toasted Buttery Bread, scrumptious potato salad, dirty rice, and the best mac and cheese I've ever had. So very delicious and filling! So happy to have found this place, already raving to all of our friends about it!
The remnant of Nawlins!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I haven’t had food this good in a long time 😘There was no wait time and extra parking in the back which I appreciate to help we walk after such a big meal I was planning to eat 😁 The Remnants of Nawlins has a cozy home cook vibe. Lots of different size tables to sit you in a hurry no matter the party size. This hidden gem is definitely worth a try. We started with the boudain balls and tea. The boudain balls had a crispy crust that I loved. And the dipping sauce added a little extra to it. We tried the combination plates fried shrimp and fish with 2 sides I chose Mac n cheese w green beans. Hubby had the fried pork chop & shrimp with green beans & jambalaya. I posted extra close of pics of the food so you can see the seasonings. Now let me tell you our food was fried to perfection!!! Great crispy crust. Fish was light breading. Shrimp was perfectly seasoned. Better that many large restaurants in Bryan / College station. And the sides were bomb. I didn’t leave any sides on my plate even though I was so full I had to finish that Mac & cheese and green beans w bacon🤤 We are looking forward to our next visit to see what else we can try. That’s for the delicious food we greatly appreciate y’all.
I ate lunch here over the weekend and it was sooo good. It was my first time so I tried the meat pies, shrimp etouffee, and a shrimp po boy. My friend had the spicy chicken sandwich and my son had the Mac n cheese. Great portion size, DELICIOUS food. The po boy and etouffee had a lot of shrimp in it, they’re not stingy with it. All of this and my bill was just at $50. Left full with leftovers. For what I received, this price is a steal! Will be back!
Very good hole-in-the-wall Cajun stop with very friendly staff. Don't let the exterior or parking (you pull through what I can only assume is the owners driveway) fool you, good eats await within. I had the blackened catfish dinner, with dirty rice and Mac and cheese. I had iced tea to drink, which left a little to be desired. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.
Tucked away in Bryan is this wonderful place that serves food that is cooked very well. If you are a fan of spicy food, I mean SPICY this is the place for you. If you don't like spice just request no spice. The fries were very good, were seasoned well definitely a must try if u like fries. Husband had garlic butter and I had garlic butter with spice.
Perhaps too early but came for the seafood boils and they weren't available, was told we could get a shrimp platter but that got missed in communication and didn't arrive. Food took 30-45min. after order taken but was thankfully good overall, service rough with hostess playing server and multitasking to go orders. Would try again if the boils are available, would call ahead to confirm.
The shrimp poboy was on point. My Buddy said even the bun was perfect. The breading seasoning was good on the shrimp. The fried catfish was stellar. It had a great taste. The breading was light and crispy. Since I lived in New Orleans for two years, the “tarter sauce” was more reminiscent of a remoulade. That being said, certain side items needed more attention. The fries were basic—needed seasoning. The jambalaya tasted like Zatarains, (which, of course, is wonderful). The mac and cheese was cooked perfectly, but lacked seasoning. The potato salad was fine, but needed a little seasoning, or something, to make it stand out. Building is modest and you might overlook it without GPS. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. The beer was free because they don’t have their liquor license. Pro-tip—BYOB. Could accommodate larger groups outside.
If the owners / management will rise to meet the excellent service provided by the wait staff and cooks, this little restaurant could be SO much better. Our waitress was very friendly and even danced with our toddlers cajun style. Loved her spirit and service. The kitchen produced VERY tasty and flavorful entrée and side dishes. They were on point in the kitchen. Owners need to do better providing what their workers need to do their jobs.
They were out of white rice when I visited so the rice for the gumbo, boudin balls and one other dish all had the same boudin rice. Food was just ok. Restroom small, lots of space in the restaurant. Dark but could be because of the rain. Fish was Swai, not catfish. Good variety of food. Wings were decent. Service great.
A nice hole in the wall restaurant that offers seafood and cajun varieties. They are well known by the locals. Being from New Orleans, I was told about this by my girlfriend in college station. I decided to try it. The service was professional and staff was friendly. The fries were really good, but only got a handful of fries as seen in photo. The sandwich was good but not a TRUE PO-BOY. True po-boys are sandwiches where the shrimp or seafood falls off the sandwiches. This is a good sandwich but no po-boy. If they can do better, I will try them again. They are nice and good to enjoy new orleans related food. The food taste really really good. I just suggest they offer more fries and a better po-boy. I paid $16.05 for everything. It felt more like $9.99 worth of food. Sorry but just being honest. Maybe it was just a bad day for me as they were actually very busy at the time.
From the time we ordered our drinks to the time our food arrived was. About an hour and fifteen minutes. Waitress never checked on us or updated us on our food order. The restaurant was not busy but steady. There was 2 waitress working. We had to find our waitress for drink refills. After the hour and fifteen minutes we waited food finally came and our order was missing items. We told our waitress but never saw her again. No apology no checking on our missing items. The other waitress came over and asked we told her and she said she would get the missing items. She never came back with the food. We finally got her attention and told her to forget the missing items. About the time we were leaving the owner came out from the kitchen to deal with a to go order that was missing items. Then the owner went over to talk to some tourist. Never once did the our acknowledge or give any attention to the locals that have been in the restaurant several times. We have dined in this establishment several times a year but will never go back. This was a favorite and special restaurant to my family but tonight it was an embarrassment. Goodbye to The Remnant of Nawlins. Goodbye to the ok food, the bad service and an owner that is friendly to tourist but ignores regular customers.
Waitress was not in the mood to be here. Very unhappy. We waited for an hour for food. No crab. Food came with no fixings and we said something and they said they would bring them. Never did. Food was fine but they were out of most of what we wanted. So frustrating.
Doesn’t have anything you ask for that is on the menu. Was out of fries, crab, shrimp, crawfish, and potato salad. Provided Dr Pepper from cans. Will never come back. Make sure you have the food that’s on the menu when you own a restaurant.
This is one place that I will never ever visit again. The team was more expensive than the Coke because you get free refills, which was never offered. The tea is the instant with lemon. The shrimp platter had about eight shrimp and the shrimp were about the size of a dime very dried out hardly no Cajun flavoring. For my side, I got macaroni and cheese and dirty rice. I could not eat the dirty rice. It was just bland. There was nothing to it. The macaroni and cheese was just OK. It needed salt, but there was no salt available anywhere my husband got the combination platter, which was the fish and shrimp again. The shrimp was dry but the size of a dime hardly no Cajun flavoring the fried catfish had no Cajun flavoring at all. He got the red beans and rice look like they had cooked it like at 10 o’clock this morning. It looked very dried out and he got the jambalaya and he said that was awful too. We were the only ones there when we first got there, but many people showed up afterwards and it’s just someplace that I’ll never go back. I give them I would give them zero stars if I could not only that they charged me a surcharge on my debit card and didn’t even tell me this is this is not a good restaurant situation
