Opinions de Mercatino Ristorante Enoteca Budapest
It does feel a little touristy, but somehow, that didn’t take away from the experience. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The food was genuinely enjoyable. The lobster pasta was rich and full of flavour, clearly made with care, though I have to admit, it landed a bit heavy afterwards. Overall, a solid, satisfying stop with a cosy vibe.
Cozy restaurant in a prime Budapest location with a warm, stylish Italian atmosphere. Highly recommend a bottle of Kreinbacher Egoist - one of the best Hungarian sparkling wines and a perfect match for the food. Great pizza, delicious seafood soup and a fresh chicken salad with parmesan and cherry tomatoes. Lovely presentation, quality ingredients, and a very cozy interior. Highly recommended! ❤️
Compared to the seafood risotto, the lobster tagliatelle is truly outstanding. I could literally eat nothing else and just have ten plates of the lobster tagliatelle. The only tiny criticism I have is that there’s not that much lobster meat, but the meat itself is wonderfully bouncy and firm. The tagliatelle has just the right texture, the sauce is incredibly fragrant, and even after sitting for a while, it doesn’t become overly salty. The restaurant also gave us a complimentary glass of tomato juice, which was super smooth going down. In the end, I couldn’t resist ordering a tiramisu. Highly recommend everyone to come to this restaurant!
We were originally going to go to one of the viral TikTok places for Italian food, but saw that Mercatino received high ratings on Google so we decided to come here instead and we are so glad that we did. There were four of us and while we didn’t know what to order, we checked out some of the Google reviews and took some of the recommendations and ordered The black pasta with shrimp and the seafood risotto and they did not disappoint. The cucumber shot was also a very nice touch . We also ordered the trio of bruschetta, which were also equally delicious. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, we had to order dessert, and we ordered the tiramisu, which was wonderfully tasty, also ordered the tapioca pudding for my lactose free partner, and he loved it and then our friends ordered the pistachio cake, which was amazing. The service was friendly and fun the atmosphere Was very cute. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Reasonable price for reasonable portions, and excellent quality. Beverage pairing especially good, staff very willing to make suggestions. Multiple check ins by different staff members to check satisfaction with meal and experience. Best of all - beautiful interior: high stone arched ceilings, all out Christmas decor for season, very comfortable cushioned chats and booths for sitting. You could spend a long time here alone or with friends and family in comfort.
🇮🇹 Absolutely loved this place! 🇭🇺 Such a beautiful and colorful interior — full of Italian ceramics and charming little details everywhere. You can feel the warmth and joy of Italy right in the heart of Budapest! The food was amazing — so tasty, with generous portions — and the staff were super friendly and attentive. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you want to come back again and again. A perfect mix of Italian flavor and Hungarian charm! 💛
My friend and I visited for dinner on the evening of the 17th. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was even better. Super friendly and attentive. I wish I could remember the name of one of our servers but he was fabulous! I’d love to visit Budapest again in the summer and would be sure to return! The atmosphere was also great. A lovely place to finish our trip. Thankyou! 😊
Recently took a xmas city break to the beautiful city of Budapest. Like many tourists you get attracted to the xmas markets and the huge selection of street foods on offer, all of which are great. However, my wife and I were celebrating her birthday and having explored much of the city centre for the day we were attracted to this Italian restaurant just off the main streets tucked away and what a find it was. Firstly, the restaurant from the outside looks amazing. It was so beautifully decorated for Christmas and at around 4pm was lit up beckoning us over to look at the menus on display outside. Within a few moments of quickly scanning their offerings we headed in. The restaurant is wonderful. As you walk in the seating, tables, bar area are simply a feast of colours and intricate ornaments all nicely decorated for the festive period. We had a tremendously warm welcome from the staff, who are clearly extremely passionate about their trade and customers. At this time of day having not booked we are easily able to have a table for the two of us, however I would highly recommend booking for peak periods. Whilst it is a small restaurant there are tables that could accommodate couples to large groups, indeed a group of around a dozen people were already enjoying dinner in the restaurant when we arrived. Our waiters were very polite and approachable and happy to extend any service to us to ensure we felt at ease and comfortable, something that was really appreciated, as it can often be you feel overwhelmed with dining somewhere so premium. There is a considerable array of wines, spirits and drinks on the menu, and plenty to empty your wallet if you are in the mood. The mobile drinks trolley, packed with brandy’s etc was a nice addition if you like that type of tipple. We opted for a few glasses of fizz and also a pistachio espresso which was delicious. We had only planned on having a few drinks but with the wonderful aroma of food we ordered a pizza to share. The pizza was much larger than we had expected and plenty for the two of us to enjoy and was super fresh and tasty. The menu being Italian specialises on pizza, pasta, fish and with steaks as you would expect. And with this being such a high end dining experience you will be obviously looking at higher than normal prices, but if you are able this is 100% worth it. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant and one of the best I have ever experienced. I just wish it was in my home town and somewhere I could visit more often. I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re fortunate enough to be in Budapest, especially during the xmas period. It is fantastic. Huge thank you to the staff who were there and made the experience so worthwhile. Hoping to return someday.
Had a great experience at Mercatino last night! Great service and the food was fantastic! We had the Wild boar tagliatelle and Veal cheeks saltimbocca for mains, both were absolutely fantastic - it really surprised us! Highly recommend for excellent food at great price! We shared a starter, had mains and 2 drinks and it was about 39.000 Ft for the both of us. Bonus points for such beautiful christmas decorations!
Wonderful food, great atmosphere and super service. Cocktails were delicious. We can recommend the negroni and the classic margarita. Every course was outstanding 🤩 Recommend the beef tartare, the beef carpaccio with burrata in cherry smoke and the black spaghetti with king prawn garlic cream and tiramisu to complete an amazing meal. Chef provided ‘tomato water’ which tasted of home grown tomatoes as an amuse bouche and petit fours. Blown away! Deservedly popular, a dinner reservation is wise!
A truly magical spot in the heart of Budapest! The atmosphere is wonderful, the design is stylish, and the food is absolutely delicious. I tried the goulash, which I loved, and the mussels for the main course were fantastic as well. Everything about this place was perfect — a solid five stars!
Absolutely amazing restaurant and highly recommend it. Food was amazing and service second to none. Seriously what an experience.. Adam, Fanni, and the manager Zsolt are exceptional, thank you so much to ye all. Mario
This place is 5 stars all around! Absolutely beautiful design, outstanding service from amazing staff ( every single one of the servers is fantastic : kind, attentive and professional) and delicious food. The sexy chicken is perfection! We even tried the dessert of the day : chocolate brownie with sour cherry sauce ( with a dash of ginger) and pumpkin mousse and this is probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. You’ll thank yourself for visiting this restaurant.:)
Most stunning Italian restaurant. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Food was amazing, I went for the bruschetta for starter and creamy black spaghetti king prawns for main. Would definitely visit again.
We had such a wonderful experience here! I ordered the seafood risotto and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked, creamy, and full of flavor. The panna cotta was just as impressive, silky and delicious. My wife had the pistachio cake and couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was – hands down the best she’s ever tried. On top of the great food, the service was fantastic. The waiters were professional, friendly, and fun, and their recommendations were spot on. It really made the evening special for us.
Just wow! A must when in Budapest, highly recommended. Food and service were outstanding. Wine, pasta and sizzling prawns 10/10.
From today, this place is my favorite. The tender veal steak and wine were absolutely fantastic. The pistachio cake left me completely speechless with its flavor. As I wrap up my long study-abroad journey in Hungary, I’ll treasure this night forever along with the Italian liqueur you shared with me. Thank you for making this evening so memorable.
I was craving for pasta and glad that i found this restaurant during my trip in Budapest. Everything in this dish is perfect, shrimps are well seasoned and the pasta is al dante😊 Sadly i went there by myself, i wish i could try more dishes! Reservation is recommended, but i was lucky to get a table by walk-in
Came in late after 10pm but they were still serving food. Small restaurant but feels spacious and welcoming atmosphere, also made possible by the service. They even gave a dessert suggestion that was not on the menu. Seafood risotto had a nice variety of different seafood and the pistachio cake and icecream was heaven. Nice portion sizes. A whole bottle of soda water for 1 person was a bit much though.
Cozy restaurant, beautiful christmas decorations. The food was truly amazing, one of the best places in Budapest to have dessert;) Service was very fast, staff super friendly. Will come back for sure!
What a delicious meal, and wonderful dinner experience. We decided to celebrate our anniversary here, and I’m so glad we did. Zsolt gave us wonderful recommendations and was happy to accommodate my vegetarian diet. 10/10 from beginning to end
We had an amazing lunch! Lovely service. Quality ingredients. We highly recommend the king prawn Caesar salad and the carbonara! Would definitely recommend. Gorgeous decor too in a relaxed atmosphere!
We had a very good dinner here. Seafood risotto is a must try! It tastes so good even the last bit. 😋
Super good Italian restaurant! Good food, friendly environment and the best restaurant manager Zsolt. If I come back to Budapest, I’ll definitely visit it again.
Had an amazing dinner here. We ordered the tomato soup, pasta and chicken. Everything was delicious 😋
Utterly Sublime. Everything to the food, the service and the wine was superb. The staff our incredibly welcoming and friendly, with their service being top class. This was an excellent choice to celebrate my partners 21st Birthday, and our 1 year anniversary!! Genuinely one of, if not, thee best evenings of my life. It is an absolute must if you are visiting Budapest, especially for couples looking for a romantic, and special dining experience.
A very nice restaurant! The atmosphere is elegant and the waiters were friendly and welcoming. The food was great and had a good gluten free options. Recommended !!
Fantastic, generous service with outstanding food. We had ‘the pasta’ and ‘sexy chicken’ which were both superb dishes with great quality. Would highly recommend if you’re fancying Italian in Budapest.
We absolutely loved this place! It was recommended by the concierge at our hotel, and another guide. We were able to make a last-minute reservation, and boy, we were rewarded with gracious service, amazing food, and great music (bonus!). The focaccia before dinner was served with a fragrant, grassy olive oil. My friend ordered the Baked Stuffed Eggplant that was filled with all sorts of delicious vegetables and topped with melted cheese. It was served piping hot. I thought I ended up with the best dish, though. It was 2 generous slices of Roasted Goose Breast with crispy skin and a full, regal taste, but not gamey or fatty, and cooked to perfection! It was served with the richest, most delicious polenta I have ever eaten. The whole thing came on a bed of chestnut puree. This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten! For dessert, we had Tiramisu and a White Chocolate Orange Mousse on a bed of Pistachio Cake and a scoop of Pistachio Gelato They were both fantastic! I would highly recommend that, if you find yourself in Budapest, you try to get there! Mercatino Restaurant for the win!
Such an amazing place in Budapest, felt like a real treat. Service was impeccable, food was delicious as was the wine. Definitely one to try, and we will be back on our next visit
One of the best restaurants in Budapest. Excellent food, top quality, and very attentive service. Highly recommended for both tourists and locals. If you want to eat well in Budapest, this is the place to go.
We had very good food really enjoyed our visit thanks to the wonderful staff and hospitality 💜✨
While on a walk yesterday, we stumbled upon this hidden gem and immediately booked a table. We were eager to discover what it had to offer—and it did not disappoint. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the staff warm and attentive, and the food simply exquisite. Every dish was a delight, and we’re still amazed by how divine everything tasted. Even the restroom felt like a curated space in a museum! We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be recommending this place to everyone—it's an experience not to be missed.
Every dish was prepared perfectly. Servers were very warm and friendly. The place is also beautiful (particularly the washroom)
Food was great, service perfect. Thomas the waiter and Zsolt were so much fun and very professional. They also knew to accommodate to vegetarian options. I will come back to this place.
We walked into the restaurant and immediately loved the ambiance. The staff greeted cordially and sat us down promptly. I would recommend a reservation if you come here they book out. Zsolt was our server and was very friendly and funny. He gave us great food and wine recommendations. The food was very delicious as well as desert. Next time we're in Budapest we're definitely coming back.
Amazing Italian food. The pizza was very thin and crispy. The risotto was a vegetarian option with green peas. The best dish was the black spaghetti with garlic and king prawns. Overall very satisfying.
Now there may be some bias as this was the capstone to a truly wonderful vacation... but what a capstone! Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. The food was exceptional. I had the seafood risotto, and my wife the sweet potato gnocchi. We finished with the pistachio cake. Simply wonderful. 11/10 stars.
I had a delicious dinner here while traveling in Budapest. It was an Italian restaurant, and all the food was amazing. The mussel soup, in particular, was unforgettable. After taking a boat ride to see the night view, the soup warmed me up from the cold. The atmosphere was really great as well.
Mercatino Ristorante Enoteca – A Slice of Italy in the Heart of Budapest If you’re searching for authentic Italian cuisine in Budapest, look no further than Mercatino Ristorante Enoteca. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked pizza and simmering sauces. The menu is a celebration of classic Italian flavors, featuring everything from creamy risottos to perfectly al dente pastas. I highly recommend starting with the bruschetta – the tomatoes are fresh and bursting with flavor, and the homemade bread is simply divine. For the main course, the wood-fired Margherita pizza is a must-try; the crust is crisp yet chewy, and the mozzarella melts in your mouth. What truly sets Mercatino Ristorante Enoteca apart is the attention to detail and the genuine hospitality of the staff. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to recommend dishes or pairings. We had a fantastic time here for my husbands 40th birthday Food and drink was amazing Staff and atmosphere was fantastic Highly recommend Accommodated gluten free requirements as well
The manager was perfect. He found us a table for two in a minute and he was very kind and helpful with our order. He also suggested us the best dessert in town. Thank you again for your hospitality. ☺️
We had a lovely dinner here on our first night in the city. The black spaghetti and seafood risotto were both absolutely delicious! Flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The restaurant itself is picture-perfect, with a fancy atmosphere that added to the overall experience. Service was impressively quick, too. We had made a reservation in advance, which I highly recommend, as the place fills up quickly.
Really nice place. Delicious and special food and The pistachio is a must try !!
We were in a Budapest for a few days and we had dinner twice at Mercatino. What a wonderful surprise we had, lovely staff, beautiful place and tasty cuisine. If you stay at the city, you must come here. Thanks a lot to the staff in Mercantino, we will be coming back for sure!
Charming place for a full inmersive Italian experience. Excellent service and really tasty food located in the very city center of Budapest
The service is perfect, everyone is super kind! This was the best Italian meal I had in Budapest
A warm and cozy restaurant. Friendly staff and excellent service. Delicious food. Would recommend 10/10.
Lovely experience! The food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was beautiful and the service was above and beyond. This was a last minute find and we were pleasantly surprised. The seafood risotto was to die for. I will definite return next time I’m in Budapest.
The place is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The music isn’t too loud, making it ideal for conversation. The waiter wasn’t very enthusiastic, but overall, the staff was friendly. There was a black-haired gentleman who seemed more like a true hospitality professional—he joked with us, which was a nice touch. The food was generally not bad, though the pizza was a bit salty. The black pasta was deliciously creamy, and the shrimp were perfect. However, the dessert, which I was really looking forward to, turned out to be a disappointment. It looked stunning, but inside, it was just dry sponge cake with buttery cream. For the quality, I found it a bit overpriced, so I wouldn’t return. That said, one thing worth mentioning is the restroom—it was beautiful and clean, and they paid special attention to women, which is definitely a plus.
