Went when there was hardly anyone else there and it so super good! Very friendly server who did not rush us.
I had been wondering about this Izakaya (Japanese style pub), which is always full of people; well, this past Sunday I saw it empty and decided to seize the moment and went in to check for myself what the fuzz was about and ordered the Seafood Dynamite with Bay Scallops, Shrimp, Mushrooms, Onions in a Creamy Mayo Sauce to go and thoroughly enjoyed watching the cooks preparing it; I have to say this was an absolute exquisite assault to my taste buds and will be back for more next time I am in Buena Park....乾杯 Kanpai!!
We were so very welcomed when we entered the restaurant. I had my service dog for my medical support and had her in the stroller. We were very happy how they welcomed and cared for our service dog from the beginning to the end. We were party of 5(adults), ordered Assorted Sashimi Combo Large($239.99) & 2 Large Hot Sake to celebrate my father-in-law's 77 yrs old birthday. All of our family members really enjoyed every single food they served; so satisfied & enough portions of food. We liked its reservation system, the food serving system, and the servers' manners. Servers were very attentive to keep the flow of food being served. Strongly recommend this restaurant and will surely visit again.
Kuni Sashimi – Now Serving Mini Sashimi Combos! 🍣✨ If you’ve been wanting to try Kuni Sashimi but hesitated because of their massive portions, you’re in luck! They just introduced NEW Mini Sashimi Combos ($65)—perfect for a date night or bestie dinner without committing to a huge platter. You still get the same fresh, high-quality sashimi, plus all the extras like porridge, corn cheese, miso soup, steamed egg, and spicy fish soup—so worth it! I mainly came back to check out their new menu, but surprise twist—the Spicy Sea Eel Stir Fry ($28.95) lowkey stole the show! 🔥 Spicy, savory, and packed with flavor—definitely a must-try! ✨ Why You Should Go: ✔ Mini sashimi options = less commitment, same great quality ✔ Still comes with all the delicious side dishes ✔ Perfect for sharing & variety lovers! ⭐ Overall Rating: 9.5/10 (9.5 because everything literally was good but uni pasta wasn’t just what I was looking for, but they do have really good uni and creamy taste 👅) 🍣 Must-Try: Mini Sashimi Combo & Spicy Sea Eel Stir Fry 🚗 Parking: Free plaza parking—super easy!
I was feeling adventurous and decided to check out Kuni Sashimi House, a Korean and Japanese fusion restaurant in Buena Park. The food was fresh, delicious, and generous. I ordered the tacos, which were actually sashimi wrapped in seaweed with various toppings. They were amazing and flavorful, and came in a metal taco holder that made me feel like a cowboy. The sashimi was very fresh and tender, and the sauces were spicy and tangy. I also tried some of their other dishes, such as the live octopus, the oysters, and the uni pasta. They were all very good and satisfying, but not as good as the tacos. The place was very cozy and nice, with a farmhouse chic decor and windows that let in natural light. The service was friendly and attentive, and they checked on us frequently. They also brought us many side dishes that came with the sashimi combo, such as soup, salad, rice, kimchi, and more. They were all tasty and complemented the main dishes well, but not as well as the tacos. I would highly recommend Kuni Sashimi House to anyone who loves sashimi or wants to try something different and creative. They have a variety of dishes to choose from, ranging from traditional to fusion. They also have breakfast, brunch, bakery, and catering options. They source their ingredients from local farms and their own farm in Temecula, which makes their food fresh and organic. Kuni Sashimi House is a hidden gem that delivers quality and taste, especially the tacos.
Great set menu as well as other good options like chirasi, hot fish soup, etc at reasonable price. All are delicious. Service is great. I have been there several times already and will visit again for any Korean style Japanese food.
We had a FEAST at Kuni Sashimi House in Buena Park, California, at $139.99 for their Small Assorted Sashimi Combo, which includes halibut, salmon, tuna, yellowtail and octopus. ✨The menu says it feeds 2 people, but the never ending 20+ accompanying side dishes will make you question if they meant to write 4 instead!✨ In addition to the freshest and tastiest sashimi, we had: kimchi, cold kimchi soup, miso soup, apple potato salad, edamame, soy marinated shrimp, oysters, corn cheese, steamed egg, takoyaki, fried rice cakes, hamburger patty, takoyaki, sausages, smoked mackerel, pork katsu, poke tacos, fried tacos, tempura, onion pancake, and spicy seafood soup. Every bite here was so tasty and it truly felt like we were taken care of by their attentive, welcoming staff🫶🏼 We will be back to try their fresh uni!
I visited a Korean sushi place in Buena Park, CA, and tried their assorted sashimi combo, it was incredibly generous and offered excellent value. The combo featured several types of fish, including tuna, salmon, halibut, and two white-fleshed varieties perfect for dipping in Korean gochujang sauce. The dish was served with crisp perilla leaves and an assortment of sides. To top it off, I enjoyed a delicious fish roe egg soup (al tang) and a bomb abalone porridge. Also, the servers were incredibly sweet and attentive, which only enhanced the dining experience. Plus, if you're in the mood for drinks, they offer alcohol, making it a fun spot to join friends for a night out (although I didn't partake). Overall, I’d rate this place a solid 10/10 for its food quality, service, and ambiance. Note: Unlike Japanese sashimi, which is typically flash-frozen, Korean sashimi (hwal) is often served with live fish, ensuring an exceptionally fresh taste. Enjoy!
I had a wonderful dining experience at Kuni Sashimi. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Every dish showed great attention to quality and detail. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. They took the time to make us feel welcome and cared for, which made the experience even more special. Thank you to the entire team for the great food and warm service. I truly appreciate the effort and dedication. I look forward to coming back again!
A vegetarian friendly ramen? Their creamy vegan broth is incredible. I’m always weary of vegetarian ramen broths because they’re usually quite plain and leave a lot to be desired. But this? This?!!! Absolutely stellar. No notes.
I ate here once a really long time ago and had not been back since, but I remember liking it a lot. I came back again recently and am honestly really disappointed in myself for not coming here every time I want ramen. I had been to a ton of different places in LA county and they never really left me satisfied. Kitakata has to be one of the best places to eat ramen in the LA/OC area. It is a little pricey but the quality of the food and portions are spectacular. The Umakara Tan Tan was phenomenal, every spoonful was packed with flavor, the spice was on point and the noodles were so smooth and tender. It had the right amount of everything and the added soft boiled egg was the cherry on top. The service is also great as we were seated in less than ten minutes despite there being a lot of people and our food was out just as fast. It is a great place to come have dinner especially during the cold winter weather we have at night. I expect to be coming back here a lot more often during the coming months!
Me and my family were visiting and drove by this place. We decided to try it. The Ramen noodle soup was ok but hoped they were thinner. They didn't have that option for customers like me, who prefer the thinner rice noodles. The broth needed more flavor as well. Everything else was delicious!
I ordered the Chashu Bun, the Cucumber Plate, and the Tonkatsu Ramen bowl. The Chashu Bun was divine! The meat was so tender and melted in your mouth; the bun, itself, was super light and fluffy. The cucumbers added just the right amount of spice for the tonkatsu, which was a more mild tasting noodle. All of it was delicious. I will try the more spicy ramen next time.
Happened upon this place because I was having service done on my car nearby at Toyota and asked the guys for ramen recommendations. The place is really cute and servers were friendly. I ordered for takeout and service was quick! It even came with heating instructions for the ramen which they separated the noodles from the broth (yay!). The server made good suggestions and I agree with other reviewers that their ramen was delicious! Will definitely come here again when I'm in the area.
I've dined here more than a few times, and every time has been enjoyable. With so many flavors and styles of ramen out there, it's only fair to say that opinions will rise. As for my tastes, I like tonkotsu and shoyu-style ramen in general. The Kita Kata style mainly has pork broth, with shio, miso, and shoyu bases, which are all light and flavorful. It's not a heavy, creamy broth like tonkotsu. The noodles were wavey, thicker, and had a nice, slurpable chew. They also have vegan and veggie ramen options. My favorites ramens are Kita Kata, Tsukemen, and Green Chili, as well as monthly specials like the Mizore ramen with yuzu chili paste, which gives it a refreshing citrus note. I usually add seasoned eggs and customize with other toppings depending on my mood. The lunch combos are great for adding a little appetizer to your ramen choice. The fried chicken (karaage) and pan-fried gyoza are tasty additions. The menu also includes kids’ ramens, rice bowls, curry dishes, and alcoholic drinks (beers and sake)! The atmosphere is chill, and the service is kind and attentive. It gets busy during peak hours, so prepare to wait if you come during those times. There's also plenty of parking around the plaza. Can’t wait to come back! Kampai!
It was a very busy Sunday at 530 and everything was fantastic. We (party of 2) had a mix up with the open table list but it was handled quickly and courteously by the host. Our orders were taken and ramen was served promptly. The ramen here is the best I've had in the surrounding area. I'd have to drive to SD to top this place. Love it. 👍
I ordered the Green Chili Shio Ramen and the lunch Gyoza. Both were very delicious. The Green Chili Shio Ramen was spicy but they warn you about that on the menu. I love spicy so I enjoyed it. They offer to put the heat on the side if you are a little shy of the heat. The place was very clean, the staff very friendly. I walked in 8 minutes before they close for 2 hours between lunch and dinner and I never felt rushed.
This place was good it had variety of food a available for you to choose, food presentation was good, the tofu udon I believe it was a little over price for what you get I think they can do better with their pricing on items like this in order to make it more attractive, their salmon roll was priced right and I love it, my friend got a spicy hot udon soup she ate only half of it probably wasn't as great as she expected but she liked it, outside seating was great except for some flys bothering our sushi salmon roll, but this place was good place and I recommend it.
My first time to eat in this restaurant. My tonkatsu noodle was ok. But my tea was not hot. My friend ordered for extra hot water but after 20mins there was no hot water. Probably, the server she talk to could have forgot about it. Another server pass by and she requested again and got her hot water in just 3mins.
Must-try: Spicy Ramen (旨辛タンタンラーメン) Had the Spicy Ramen (旨辛タンタンラーメン) and it was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful broth with just the right level of spice, perfectly chewy noodles, and a nice balance of sesame and ground pork. The spice hits in a good way — warm and comforting, not overwhelming. The restaurant is quite small and usually packed, so if you don’t book ahead on Yelp, expect a long wait, especially during lunch or dinner rush. ⏳ Service note: If you order appetizers, they usually come out together with the main dish, probably because of the limited kitchen space and high volume of customers — so plan your order timing accordingly.
A solid option for ramen, they feature kitakata style ramen, which is a soy sauce base with BBQ pork and wavy noodles. This is a good spot if you want ramen but not the heaviness of tonkotsu. As a ramen place, it's not bad. My favorite thing here is the asahi super dry, for some reason it tastes extra crisp here.
We came on a busy sunday evening. When we placed our name on the waitlist it said about a 50 minute wait so we went to the Source to shop for a bit. Our table was ready after 30 minutes so we quickly headed back. Even though it was over 10 minutes to get back and they had removed us from the waitlist, the hostess was still accommodating and seated us as we arrived. I ordered the Green Chili Shio Ramen which actually had a very nice kick to it. The spice is from the soup base and not just a seasoning or topping. The soup was very delicate and light but the noodles were a bit too soft and not chewy, a bit reminiscent of overcooked instant maruchan noodles. This may be the style of ramen from the prefecture it comes from but I am more used to an al dente style noodle. Overall, the ramen is not bad but I just would enjoy a less mushy noodle.
The food is not astounding, but not bad either. It tastes a lot more Chinese than I would normally expect from a Ramen restaurant though. The Boiled Veggie Ramen especially, is straight up a Chinese noodle dish I'm pretty sure. Their fried chicken dish/karage came in chunks the size of my palm. Not necessarily a bad thing (it tasted fine), but it did make it a bit hard to fit in my mouth.
Recommended by locals. The place was almost full, and I saw some good reviews. So expectation was high. My wife ordered these two dishes, 물회 and 꼼장어볶음. Total was $50. They looked great as you can see in the picture. Normally followed by "these are delicious." However, that never came out of my mouth. 물회 had more noodles than 회. It was more like 회냉면 with flavorlessbroth. 꼼장어 came out sizzling hot sitting on caramelized onions with sliced garlic and pepper. Dipping sauce was pretty good, and I enjoyed. However, again there was lack of flavor and slightly burnt taste to it. I felt like they just copied from someone's menu without making them their own. We saw other dishes that people ordered around our table. They all looked good, and maybe we just ordered wrong dishes. We may give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another shot next time but I am very disappointed with our dinner.
During my lunch visit to Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai in Buena Park, I ventured to try the tsukemen ramen, eager for that delightful interplay of cold noodles and hot broth that characterizes the dish. Unfortunately, the execution did not live up to expectations. The noodles themselves were passable, yet the broth lacked the robust heat necessary to contrast sharply with the chilled noodles. Initially served only warm, the broth quickly lost its tepid temperature after just a few dips, diminishing the overall enjoyment of the tsukemen experience. Despite this culinary misstep, there were definite positives. The service was a standout, with the server/hostess providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere and attentive care throughout the meal. Additionally, the lunch combo offers excellent value, making it a tempting option for those looking to explore other dishes without a hefty price tag. Based on this experience, I would be inclined to try a different type of ramen on a future visit, hopeful that another selection might showcase the strengths of Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai more fully. The exceptional service and the value of the lunch combo certainly make a return visit worthwhile.
I’ve had ramen all over, including Japan, so I came in with high expectations. The food here was honestly mediocre at best. Broth and noodles were fine, but nothing stood out or made me want to order another bowl. Service was a mixed experience. The guy helping our table was great; attentive, respectful, and on point. But one of the other staff members looked like she didn’t want to be there. I get that they’re busy and need to push orders, but a little warmth, a smile, and basic hospitality go a long way. Atmosphere was decent, wait time was reasonable, but overall the experience didn’t match the hype. I’ve had much better.
EXTREMELY RASCIST Environment! If I could give negative stars I would. Im not a troll. Im an African American who wanted authentic Korean food. I am a US Army Veteran and fought for this country. To be treated this way in this day and age especially in California is despicable! Terrible service for non Koreans and Im disgusted by the experience. Do not go here unless you are Korean. The energy in this room is honestly disturbing how you are stared at and looked upon and the servers ignore you and they only tend to their own kind. Its disgusting! Had to take pictures and warn people not even out of spite but because I dont want anyone else to experience that and they need to be checked!
