Opinions de The French Rooster Burbank
Just got the Parisian sandwich and it was incredible. Can’t wait to try the other sandwiches. Come here and give this local business your money right now. So good.
We are from out of town and found this cute spot in Burbank. The coffee was amazing and we all chose different food items for breakfast and all of them were delicious. The staff was friendly and helped us with any questions we had. I would highly recommend this spot.
Fresh and warm pain au chocolat. I had a dirty chai latte and my boyfriend had a cappuccino. My chai wasn’t sweet just how I like it and the cappuccino was great! Will definitely stop by again.
Super yummy cafe with coffee, sandwiches, crepes, quiches, and pastries. The French owners are super nice! I L-O-V-E the Parisian sandwich: it's a baguette with ham, cheese, butter, and some kind of delicious pickle and it is FANTASTIC. I also LOVE the brioche-- it comes with a tiny jar of Nutella or jelly... super fun! They have all sorts of other fresh pastries, too of course. Just a delightful local business that is fun to frequent!
The food and atmosphere are amazing. The service is even better. Thank you for the delicious complimentary baguette this morning as well.
Love this place and I’d continue to go everyday, but have to watch the caffeine intake! The ladies at the front are so kind, and want you to love everything they have to offer. They are always so friendly. The chefs are also very nice, and love to say “Hi!” Please keep up the hard work, and know that you have the support of your fellow neighbor. Buh bye…🙂
Amazing little spot! Some of the best pastries I have ever had. I just wish the space was bigger and you could sit down inside. But everything is delicious, well made, and the space is super cute, clean and the staff are super nice. Highly recommend!
Heavily impressed! As an LA local from the midwest -- i appreciate anytime a business tries to make me comfy and feel welcomed on a personal level. I came for an industry lunch meeeting - never came before this! I came a little early ahead of my partner, and it was greeted with the nicest person at the front. I believe her name was Chelsea! She was someone in her early 20s that just felt like someone from the Midwest. She not only learned my name and shook my hand, she knew that I was new there and hadn't been there before! I then stayed after my meeting to work on some other work, and she welcomed me to stay after they close on the patio if I would like, even though I had been planning to leave! Her warmness had me stay to work alot longer than originally planed. She also taught me how they make their bread fresh DAILY which i love especially in parisian entrees and coffee shops. Cheap and affordable -- AND ONE OF THE BEST DANG BREAKFAST SAMMIES IVE HAD IN MY 5 YEARS LIVING IN LA . Its in the valley so i dont go there often but now i have a perfect spot for Lunch meetings and Grind 'to-do' days on the go! WIL BE COMING BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN -- 11/10 Hometown friendly service takes the cake for me . THANKS TO CHELSEA AND HER PERSONALITY (no i have never met chelsea before this interaction lol)
We discovered this little gem on a recent trip to Burbank and I wish I could take it home with me! We had a delicious breakfast and one of the best latte’s of my life. The people were pleasant and wonderful there, definitely worth a stop if you’re visiting or making it a frequent stop if you are local!
If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. Cute location, amazing service (the gal at the counter was so kind, informative and accommodating. Now the food: we had a banana Nutella pastry that was to die for!! We also had coffee, the Croque Monsieur, Nutella crepes and strawberry Nutella crepes. All were brilliantly crafted from ingredients to presentation. We’ll be back.
Great coffee shop and bakery. We’re in the neighborhood and love to get little treats from here. And incredibly welcoming and helpful staff. We had a little mixup with an online order and the staff went above and beyond to take care of it. Really appreciate this cafe and the pain au chocolate is amazing.
Absolutely delicious coffee roasted right down the street and wonderful food made on site each morning. It smells wonderful before even walking in. I got the mushroom sandwich and it was such a great touch to have the arugula dressed with a vinaigrette... I'll be trying this upgrade when I make a sandwich next time! I also got their in house dirty chai which was fantastic and a cold brew. 10's across the board. Super kind people, and comfortable environment with cute bistro tables outside too! Dog bowl for water outside as well :)
I really do love this place. The food is very good, albeit a little pricey. It’s just so hard to come in as you guys are now only open once a week at a time that no one is in the area and is at work. 11-4pm is a super inconvenient time to make time to come over here. And what’s worst about that is that I live only a few blocks from this place!!! I really hope the hours get fixed soon cause I love your savory crepes and can’t find anything like it nearby in the valley. :(( EDIT: ok so the owners were experiencing some serious BS with their visas. Crazy. ANYWAYS the employees picked up where the owners left off and now the place is up and running very consistently! It’s amazing the food is so good and the kouign aman (spelling?) is my fave pastry, and the canele is something I get almost every time, so custardy! It’s a bit pricey so plan to spend a bit if you’re really hungry. But I love this place, super cute.
They sometimes have a wonderful quiche but it sells out quickly. But the staff/owners are so friendly, I get over my disappoint very quickly
First tome going today and the staff was so friendly and kind! The croissant i got was unbelievable! Definitely coming back.
Beyond the great quality pastries and food, Andrew was nothing but welcoming, helpful and sweet, so much so - I thought he was the owner of this place! It's so nice to experience someone who genuinely cares about the offered products and place.
Coffee was EXCELLENT. Perfect taste, perfectly balanced. I’m vegan though so I wasnt able to try their pastries but I bet they rock too
Edit Jan 30, 2026 - they’re going under new management in February so I’m very sad. It’s temporarily closed for now. I loved coming here after my appointments to pick up some daily pastries and their full sandwiches! Their full sized sandwiches are humongous, tasty, great for two, and way bigger than other places! Also loved trying out their daily pastries. It’s a small spot but they have seating outside too. I usually just did pick up.
ADORE this place! Delicious pastries. Amazing coffee. Today I got the breakfast croissant with Nutella and strawberries. Divine.
Good Americano. Ordered it short, black, hot. However the Kouign-Amann pastry is to die for! 🤤 I drive all over LA for work and I’m trying to make it a point to come here once a week. It’s also a very friendly, communal vibe
Had the cappuccino, pour over, breakfast sandwich, la complete (crepe). Cappuccino / pour over - the bean starts with a kick, but no overly bitter after note. Loved the mild flavor. Breakfast sandwich - egg sandwich with no seasoning. Mild flavors continue here. I loved it, but it may not for everyone. La complete - crepe with ham and cheese with spinach salad. Ham and cheese not salty at all so again, not for everyone.
Was visiting town staying in a hotel near by and went here for a coffee and breakfast one morning. The staff was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We ended up stopping by the morning before going home again because of the quality service, food, and coffee. Would definitely go back!
I came here last week for some French pastries. It’s such a cute little store. The staff (Alecia and Lola) are super friendly and passionate about what they do. They JUST made my day. :) They have lots of fresh pastries baked in house. I got a few things + dark roast drip coffee: Kouign Amann Classic Canele (yummm, bigger than the ones we had in France and sweeter, I think there’s custard on the inside?) Chougettes (tasty savory bites!) Escargot a La canelle Baguette +french butter (although not baked in-house, it tastes amazing!) They also have lots of crepes and sandwiches on the menu. Will definitely try them out in the future. Will be back! Support local small business and of course French bakery!!
This place is so good. There are many elements which come together to make it a 5 star. The food is fantastic, the service is great and they have incredible coffee. I love sitting outside and enjoying an almond pastry and latte. A real little moment of zen in my week. It truly is a special place.
Went in for late lunch on a Friday afternoon as I was staying in a nearby hotel on a leisure trip. I was interested in trying their sandwiches and crêpes since I’m French! They have a small standing only counter and you can eat in if it’s just you and a friend. I got serviced by Leo, a fluent French speaking student, and our conversation “en français” sure made the place feel more typical for the customers who came in. Some even tried their French too! I was not disappointed, the Parisien sandwich is made with a fresh French crusty artisan baguette, excellent ham - do you know how hard it is to find decent country ham without added sugar or other “enhancers”? - and just the right amount of Gruyère cheese. To top it all, it came with small French cornichons (the Brits call it gherkins) and butter… yes, butter! Not mayonnaise or mustard, actual butter! Very good high-quality fresh ingredients well worth the $11 for the 1/2 sandwich (1/2 baguette). It’s plenty enough for one person especially if you go for a sweet crêpe after that which I did. I got a simple strawberry crêpe sprinkled with sugar and it was delicious. Everything fresh! For take out, I got 5 chouquettes for $2.60, a very reasonable price, and a “fondant au chocolat” cake for dessert tonight. I have no doubt it will be the real thing! They’re selling some additional French goods, I bought a tiny and cute jar of Bonne Maman jelly and a nougat de Montélimar. They have French cookies (BN among others) and French sauces. Too bad they’re not open on weekends and for dinner, as a “crêperie” they would make a killing! It’s a small venue indeed and a family owned one. Next time my family goes to Universal Studios, I know where I’ll go for lunch… I’ll try to get in early as they run out of pastries quick. They’re open weekdays and close at 4pm.
I stopped in specially to try their Kouign Amann and I’m so glad I did. It’s my favorite French pastry and yet not always available. But the one at Le French Rooster - I had the original - might be the best I’ve ever had in LA. I stopped by close to opening and it was fresh from the oven, still warm. That’s the best time to stop in! Just be prepared for a small wait. Service might be a tiny bit slow but the pastries are worth the wait!
Ordered a half portion of the Parisien sandwich and it was truly superb. The baguette was so light and chewy and full of flavor, and very fresh too. Ordered a pastry for my daughter and she raved about it. I will definitely be back to order this again and try some of their other offerings. Very friendly, clean and efficient service!!
Pickup for takeout was quick and easy. Street parking was available and easy on a Saturday around 1pm. My food was fresh and tasted delicious! I got the raspberry tartelette and croque monsieur. A lot of their menu was sold out by the time I ordered online, which is understandable since it was about an hour before closing time, though I wish they had longer hours in general. I would love to come back and try their other pastries!

A huge thank you to the incredibly kind and welcoming team working this morning. My husband absolutely loves the Tower of David, and I’m obsessed with the almond pastry — so fresh and flavorful! You made our visit such a treat. Thank you!
Delightful cafe with mouth-watering French pastries, delicious coffee and a whole host of other goodness! We loved every single thing we ordered, and came back the next morning and afternoon for more! Sure wish we could take you all back to Indiana with us! Such a lovely staff!

The gentleman that helped me this morning was very friendly and helpful. He was patient with me, because it was my first time there. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches. The ciabatta and croissant. Both sandwiches were great. Fresh tasting. I also ordered 2 desserts. The 2 Kouign Amman. One almond and one with Nutella. Both were fresh and delicious. God bless.
Since May 2019, this establishment has been serving up freshly made desserts, pastries, sandwiches, crêpes, and coffees on W Olive Avenue in Burbank. My partner and I were only a few blocks from our hotel, so we decided to pay them a visit for breakfast. Upon entering this cozy cafe, we were greeted by the staff and had the entire place to ourselves for a while. We wish the space inside was bigger, as they have room for four barstools with a counter. Le French Rooster is owned by Lou, and we had the pleasure of exchanging a few words while waiting for our meal. We decided on Escargot a la Canelle (Cinnamon Swirls), Croque Monsieur (Béchamel sauce, bread, Parisian ham, Swiss cheese), and Breakfast Sandwich (a scrambled egg and Mozzarella cheese served on a ciabatta roll). Our food was fresh and tasted delicious because they used quality ingredients. Just be prepared for a small wait. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The service might be a tiny bit slow, but it's worth the wait, so we can recommend this place.
Incredible pastries and coffee. I recommend the Mini Kouign Amman! Absolutely my favorite treat there. Nothing is cheap but you’re going to get what you pay for. Smells Delicious as soon as you walk in, great quality coffee too. If I was rich, I’d come here every day.

Super disappointed over all. Read a review I’m Eater I think and was excited. Ordered a latte. Completely undrinkable. No foam. Terribly over roasted coffee beans. Strange for a European owned place. Went a got another one down the street. La Parisian sandwich was so so. Very light on the ham. Bread was pretty good. Not amazing, which it should be if it’s the show case of the sandwich. The almond Pastry was amazing- hence the 3 stars instead of 1 or 2. Totally worth getting it. Just avoid everything else.
Read the great reviews about the Kouign Amann, which is my wife's favorite dessert. I checked the menu on the website and decided to drive the 35 minutes from our home to pick some up on a Sunday morning to surprise her. Arrived right after they opened to make sure that they would be available, To my surprise, I arrive and learn that they do not sell any pastries on Sunday, only French Toast made from the leftover Kouign Amann. I figured that I must have missed the weekend menu on their website, but after looking at it again realized that it was not my mistake. No where do they mention on their website that they do not sell pastries on Sunday. Will update this review if I get back there during the week.
As much as it pains me to say this, Le French Rooster used to be the best source of French pastries and viennoiseries, but ever since husband and wife team of Cindy and Chef Alexandre left, it’s never been the same. The Kouign Amann isn’t quite right and the baguettes are hard and not the freshest - something is off about our beloved staples at this place. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be back here and must find another French cafe and patisserie.

The folks that run the place are friendly and welcoming, but the breakfast sandwich was disappointing -- basically a fried egg on a very "bready" roll. I can make much better at home. The coffee was good, but I won't be back.
Trying to ask the staff come clarification about the parking situation they didn’t really show much concern. With this interaction I wasn’t comfortable about approaching them with my food order. The croque madame pretty undercooked and soggy.
I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately, I won’t be back. There’s too much competition in the LA area to churn out subpar disappointing food. 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese that didn’t span the baguette, the fewest amount of pickles they could add to say they added pickles, and no butter. If you’ve been to Paris (France, Texas or Kentucky) and ate food, don’t come here. It will be a disappointment.

Pathetic!!! This place charges $18 for the Le Parisien Sandwich. 1 slice of thin ham?? Rock hard bread that cut the roof of my mouth!! Butter and a couple of wilted pickles. I'm Sorry, I've never posted a review but I was so disappointed with the price and quality, I just had to warn others..
Service started off well. Order was taken they offered to take it out to our table once it was ready. 3 - 4 customer came and got their order. While we were outside in the seating area yet to receive our order I went back inside to find out oir order wasn't even started. The only Hispanics at the time everyone else was white. Felt we were being discriminated. Sad we are still dealing with this. Smh . Not even an apology. Zero stars for me.
No. Not a good place. We get there at 9:54 and it was pouring rain but still came to give them Our Business and they say they stop serving breakfast at 10 am. It’s not even 10 am. We politely ask what is available from the breakfast menu still on the counter and they said nothing because they stopped serving breakfast. The girl in the kitchen had a bad attitude - we went back out in the rain to give a more deserving business our money. won’t be coming back.
used to be my favorite place before the owners have changed and americanized it. they really did destroy the soul of that wonderful little bakery. even though they tried to keep the same menu, everything tastes wrong and looks sad. RIP
