Opinions de Saltyard Burlingame
I came here for the lunch special and had a great experience. They started us off with soft, fresh bread served with oil and vinegar, which was such a nice touch. For my main, I ordered the salmon, which was a generous portion and cooked really well. It came over creamy mashed potatoes that were so buttery and delicious. The salad was fresh, and dessert rounded out the meal perfectly. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. It wasn’t very busy in the late afternoon, which made the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful spot for lunch, and I’d definitely come back!
I've been coming here for several years, and I'm glad this place has been consistent. The food is delicious. Top sea bass from anyplace I've been to and the salmon temperature is perfect. For a ribeye that isn't aged, it is fantastic and I was able to cut through it with a butter knife. Water boys were attentive! Heard the owner used to work at Porterhouse in San Mateo and sources his steaks from the same place; no wonder why they are so delicious.
I first tried this place during the pandemic when I got takeout, and I thought it was very good. Recently came here with two friends and ate on site, and it was absolutely amazing. We got the fish, a salad, mushroom toast, and ravioli. Oh, and truffle fries! Everything was delicious, service was friendly and prompt, and we had a great time. Prices are about what you would expect for this area. Definitely make a reservation, they get crowded all the time.
Fun, fresh, and great service. The ambience of this restaurant definitely matches the esthetic of downtown Burlingame. We easily made an online reservation the night before for 12:15pm on a Saturday. We were quickly seated and had the choice of sitting inside or outside. There is construction going on next door so we elected to sit inside. The service was absolutely superb. We had a waiter consistently stop by to refill drink orders. The lunch menu was simple and not overwhelming; the choices were definitely hard to choose from as everything sounded delicious. We didn’t wait long at all for the food and it was beautifully presented with special attention to detail. The bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was absolutely divine! Highly suggest starting with the Caesar Salad as well. Overall, great restaurant, with very friendly waiters, and delicious food.
Great food with generous portions. The beet salad with chicken is incredible. A ton of chicken given for $6, was pleasantly surprised. You can dine inside or outside. Wine walls provide an elegant look. I would perhaps recommend remodeling the restrooms to give it an upscale look. Prices are good, expected it to be more expensive on certain items. The man that took care of our dishes and water was SUPER attentive. The woman that hosts with the phone in her back pocket seemed disinterested in working and the patrons.
The service was outstanding I got in our group very prompt the ribeye was perfection sea bass came out and surprised a few cuz it was a full fish cooked with head but was tasty. Crab cakes were delightful. I love coming back here
Food was very very good. The burrata appetizer is a can't miss and the 3 entrees my group ordered were all great. The risotto was my favorite and had plenty of little scallops and shrimp to give it a true seafood flavor. The Bolognese and mushroom ravioli were also great dishes as I'm sure the rest of the menu is. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, I just wish our waters were filled a little more, or we had bigger glasses. My only knock is that it is very dark inside and seemed to get darker as the night went on
Cute spot with great food. Bar is nice and has a decent amount of seating. They have some wine flights you can get here. I had the Bolognese which was out of this world delicious and had a small bite of the skirt steak which was also super yummy. Definitely will be returning.
Been a resident of Burlingame but never really noticed SaltYard. Tried for the first time and wow had a great meal. The food was delicious. The drinks were well made. Service was very good. And prices were very reasonable. Had such a great meal that we'll be back.

One of my best friends had his wedding dinner at this restaurant. Every single staff member was very courteous. And I mean every single staff member. My parents and I came late to the reception, and there was almost no seating available. The staff opened up an area that wasn't set aside for the reception, and seated my parents anyways. Even though they were a distance away from the wedding party, the staff came and served them just as often as everyone else. The bartender was very nice, and incredibly professional. If you were looking for a nice place to eat, I would be perfectly happy recommending this place. All their steaks, and the different ways they are prepared, were delicious.

We came in with a large party of 11. The service was exceptional. I liked their ordering friendly atmosphere and vibe of the place. We started with appetizers (truffle fries, calamari, and crab cakes). The fries were just ok, the calamari was good but the breading/coating was a little oily, the crab cakes were tasty and the salad that came with them was tasty. If I’m in the area again I would come back but would definitely re-think my order. In looking at the menu the restaurant definitely looks upscale, the dishes come out looking amazing but in my opinion don’t order the seafood dishes. I ordered the seafood linguine and someone else ordered the seafood risotto. The scallops were very tiny and over cooked, the shrimp was salad shrimp sized and very tough, there were a few larger prawns on the top but also tough and overcooked. The mussels were the only seafood that was soft and not over cooked. Several people in our party ordered the cheeseburger. They said it was very tasty and they would definitely get it again. Said it was a top choice. The sauces on all of our pasta dishes were delicious and the pasta itself was cooked perfectly aldente. The mushroom ravioli was reportedly good as well as the bolognese. The drinks were great! Overall our party of 11 was satisfied. Just stay away from the seafood and I believe you’ll thoroughly enjoy your visit to the SaltYard.
We got there early at 6:15 pm, but by the time we left at bit after 8 the restaurant was packed. We ordered the truffle mushroom appetizers, which were delicious; then a beet and a Caesar salad. Both were big portions and flavorful. My lamb shank was cooked to perfection. Our dessert was creme Brule. Staff was very friendly. The cocktails were pretty, but definitely not strong. My Margherita tasted more like Margherita mix.
My absolute favorite was the fried calamari with artichokes. I did not like the shrimp and scallop appetizer. It was the small scallops. I was hoping for pan fried larger scallops. The drinks were great. Always love checking out the kind of concoction they make for cocktails. Truffle fries were great. Wished the truffle ravioli had more truffle flavor. The seafood on the pasta and the risotta had large shrimp and other seafood but I prefer fresher seafood. Cesar salad was good but some more anchovies would have made it perfect. Cheesecake and chocolate lava cake were moist and tasty. The sugar in the creme Brulee was great. Great ambiance and nice Street to walk around.

Yeah it was good. We're not from the area but was looking for a place to celebrate my wife's birthday that wasn't a hole-in-the-wall asian eatery and I was sold on this place because of the picture of the wall of wine bottles, an Old Fashioned, and sticky toffee pudding. We were a party of five and they sat us near the kitchen, but said to let them know if it was too loud (which I would never do because how would they even do that?), but for the record it was NOT too loud - it was perfect. The food was just okay. I ordered the seafood linguine. The presentation was spot on, but the shrimp was tough which means it was frozen and over cooked, but the pasta was good. I did appreciate the ambiance. The dim candle lit lighting really helped set the mood. I also appreciated the slice of cheesecake they brought out for my wife. I informed them in the comment box when making the reservation and they actually noticed, so I was surprised that it worked. We also ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was a bit bouncy which I suspect was frozen and microwaved, which is totally understandable because you can expect them to be making fresh date cakes daily. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant based on the ambiance, that they helped celebrate my wife's birthday, and it allowed us to explore Burlingame. I would dine here again, but only after I've tried some of the other nearby eateries. Thank you.
Nice quiet place with solid food. Portions are big. Crab cakes were lacking enough crab and disappointing but the Branzino and Salmon were both very good. The caramel dessert with gelato was generic. I'd go back if I were flying out of SFO and stayed the night before.

I give a high 3.8 rating. We had the set lunch of grilled salmon and the mushroom truffle ravioli. For the set price of $25 / pax it was well worth it. Portions are huge so you can take it home to go! The salads were fresh and tasty, so I love it ! Great to bring a date there or your parents for a Sunday meal!
Nice atmosphere. Pricey for what it was. Brussel Sprouts were greasy. Iced tea is so gross. My friends food was good she said.
I'll start off as perhaps 3-stars is a bit unfair. But there's a logic to this. SaltYard has hearty well-cooked food with all the earnest intent in a modern, swanky bar-type of look and feel. It tries to cater to a high-end steakhouse seeker but delivers comfort-style food at an above average price point. To a larger degree, they succeed in this. But a few things: despite the name "Salt"Yard, everything was bland. Ingredients were of high quality, especially the burger, the rib-eye, as well as the pasta. However, the way it was cooked lacked the pizzaz that goes along with the interior. Something about it felt amateurish, and definitely it wasn't the presentation. Something about it felt like it was done haphazardly while the rest of the experience tries to be swanky. For food, I would give it 4-stars. But I lowered it one because of the imbalance. I felt a bit confused as I dined. I wouldn't mind returning although I probably won't plan on it for a while.

I went to dinner with my husband after we noticed this place while we were in the area. The service started off fine, but quickly went downhill. Our appetizer was taken away while we were still eating it, and we were asked if we wanted a box for my entrée even though more than half of it was still on the plate. The whole experience felt rushed and inattentive. The skirt steak was mediocre at best. The mashed potatoes were bland, and the vegetables were overcooked and mushy. The calamari was actually very good, but we didn’t get to enjoy it properly since it was removed from the table before we were finished. Overall, disappointing and not worth a return visit.

Had dinner here yesterday. Got Cioppino, Truffle Ravioli, Seafood Pasta, Calamari, side of brussel sprouts, 2 alcoholic drinks. Don't get me wrong food and drinks were great BUT we felt rushed to finish and leave. I think 1 hr mark our server and one guy went back 3x to ask if we're finished. Obviously not, you can see that we still have food. Is there a time limit to dinner? We are total of 3, some people were there before us, more of having drinks and I don't see servers going there back and forth. Lot's of tables available too. Just didn't like it. Even though wr still wanted to stay, we didn't. Told me friend, I think we need to go, they're going back again to ask if we are done.
I ordered a Cioppino and Parmesan Truffle fries to go and was very dissatisfied with the quality. Cioppino: a lot of clams and mussels included were not even open. There were a total of 2 pieces of squid. Shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. Flavor of the soup was very lacking, and basically only tasted of oil and tomato. For the price, I was expecting a lot more. This dish is over $40 bucks, but is not even worth $10. I also asked for silverware, and they did not give me a spoon for the Cioppino. 😐 Parmesan Truffle Fries: they charge $3 more for Parmesan and truffle. Yet when I opened the fries there was barely any Parmesan on top. There was not even 1 teaspoon of parm. Plus, the Parmesan tasted like the type you get as pizza toppings. There was also ZERO truffle flavor. Overall, huge waste of money. Will not be coming back.
