Calistoga Inn Restaurant & Brewery has always been a local favorite, and as locals ourselves, it’s a spot we visit a couple of times a month. They’ve been around for years, and the food has consistently been good, reliable, comforting, and exactly what you’d expect from a staple in town. But recently, we’ve noticed a big change, and it’s been such a pleasant surprise. I’m not sure if it’s new management or just a refreshed approach, but the cocktails and the menu have truly leveled up. It was good before, but now? The food is absolutely delicious! bold flavors, great presentation, and dishes that feel thoughtfully crafted. You can tell there’s been extra care put into every detail. The cocktails are A1. Creative, balanced, and consistently well made. We mostly sit at the bar, and the bartenders Edgar and Alexis always greet us with so much warmth and genuine hospitality. They’re attentive, welcoming, and make you feel like more than just a customer. That kind of service keeps people coming back. On special occasions, we’ll sit indoors or outdoors at a dinner table, and the service is still just as great. Whether you’re at the bar, inside the dining room, or enjoying the patio, the experience remains consistent and inviting. Calistoga Inn continues to evolve while still holding onto its local charm. It’s one of those places that feels like home, but now with an elevated twist. We’ll always recommend it truly one of the locals’ favorites, and now better than ever.
Beautiful restaurant located next to Napa River. We had breakfast here with wonderful service. There was no vegan selections as indicated on ither website (their oats use cows milk), however there are vegetarian choices. We were sat in a comfortable booth to enjoy our meal.
Really amazing short rib!! Probably the best I’ve ever had. The entire dish had so much flavor. Fiancé got the steak which was great. We also enjoyed the house rolls, edge salad, and the brownie. Everything was amazing. We stayed at the inn that night. It was very clean and cozy. The shared bathrooms were very clean and the shower was great! Highly recommend.
I was in town to visit my brother and he suggested we all go to brunch at this restaurant. His wife said we need to get the house Parker rolls. Oh my goodness gracious, so amazing! The delicious rolls with the rosemary melted butter. Don't walk but run! The eggs Benedict was delicious! One of my cocktails was amazing but the other the mezcal was intense! The service was fantastic and sitting in the outdoor seating area adds a special ambience. If you like beer, they have beers made in house on tap! Delicious! Stop in for the amazing beer! Highly recommended!
Ate at the restaurant many times over the years. Like the patio setting and had a few meals inside when visiting Calistoga in stormy winters. Stayed in the hotel once years ago and had a good experience. Having bathrooms in the corridor was very charming, living a traveling experience as we were back in the 19th century when the hotel was built.
Amazing service and great food. Alexis was our server and was phenomenal. Go Niners
We stayed one night at Calistoga Hot Springs and looked for nearby restaurants. We walked to the small downtown area to look around. The food was excellent. The funghi pizza and the spaghetti were the best. We would definitely go back next time we are there.
We did not stay at the Inn but we dined at the restaurant. The grounds were quite nice with outdoor heated patios and fire pits and indoor spaces by fire place. We went the weekend after Christmas during a road trip with our two dogs. They were so kind - they seated us all inside which I did not expect. The service was excellent. The food was very tasty. The gnocchi and sausage rigatoni were DELISH. The gluten free crust on the prosciutto pizza was fantastic, as was the pizza. It was all fantatsic and moderately priced. I loved the ambiance. We definitely recommend eating at Calistoga Inn.
What a great place to stay! The room was so cute and the shared bathroom is not a problem. We also ate at the restaurant. I had the ribeye cut it with a butter knife try it with the wine sauce a must. My son had sausage ricattoni he said was great also. The adult beverages were very good I had the Banana Na Na my son had the beer. I would recommend this place again and again.
We stopped in for a bite after a wine tasting at a vineyard nearby. Craig was our server & he was amazing. We really enjoyed driving through the small town of Calistoga & calling in for a drink & some lunch. The location is wonderful. What we really enjoyed was the outside seating on this beautiful day. The grounds are so unique. I took a stroll inside. It was so nice outside there were no patrons really inside which was just fine. On a day like the day we visited one would be remiss not enjoying a lunch outside. If dining inside the dining room is very nice, welcoming & comfortable. The staff made us feel so welcomed.
Came by the bar/brewery on happenstance. We asked about wine tasting options although not on the menu the manager Damian helped us pick a sample of different wines. I have ever received better service in my life. It was clear to me he was deeply passionate about the wine and our experience. 10/10 would recommend ask for Damian to anyone looking for a unpretentious driven sommelier!
A true 5 star experience! Rooms are very comfortable, location is perfect, and the staff are wonderful! Only suggestion would be to add a place to hang clothes, and put a tv in each room. Price is affordable for the area. Don’t be afraid of the shared bathrooms. Toilets and showers are completely private and there is a sink in each room. Highly recommended. Listing says breakfast is free. That is incorrect. However, they do offer free coffee and scones in the lobby. Check out Cafe Sarafornia for breakfast. You won’t be disappointed! Four minute walk from hotel.
What a lovely establishment. My husband and I, a couple of septuagenarians, arrived for dinner at 4:45 pm on a Wednesday. We were seated inside, our preference, despite everyone else eating outside or at the bar. The staff were extremely gracious. I love braised beef short ribs have ordered rhem all across this country, I can honestly say these were the best I've had. Not a fatty, oily piece, but rather a very tasty, lean, but flavorful entrée served in a delicious, rich cabrtnet pan sauce. Nobody batted an eye when I requested a lovely, flavorful, crisp white Italian wine with this. To me, a red would have been too heavy, taking away from the rich flavors of my meal. My husband enjoyed the grilled pork chop as well. We both give our meal, the staff and the lovely restaurant 5 stars.
Restaurant review: I don't get why the reviews aren't great. Most places do a few things well, and if I find those dishes that's what I do at that place. The salmon here is stellar. I came here years back and came twice that trip. Came recently and the salmon was again great. The risotto had too many summer squash in it, but still a great dish. And the wings. For the all restaurants we've eaten at here/st. Helena, they were mostly overrated. This is underrated. Casual and undercover complex.
The Real Deal is Calistoga Inn Restaurant & Brewery which delivered on some flavor and plenty of different dining settings. Let’s start off with we did not stay just stopped in for food so our rating is based on the restaurant. So the service was pretty solid, not very upbeat server just very mellow. Greeted pretty quick and food came out in a respectable time. The atmosphere has a lot to offer, inside dinning is very nice but they had the doors open which allowed a lot of bugs flying around, nice indoor area separated from everywhere else. A ton different seating options outside which made for a great all around atmosphere no matter the mood. Now let’s move onto the main event: da Food! The chicken dish was really good very juicy and puffy mashed potatoes overall 9/10. The steak was not good at all 4/10 bad cut of meat and cook and seasoning not there. Rest of the steak meal was 6/10. Overall a fun and great spot with some good options, until next time cheers!
Enjoyed the ambiance of outdoor seating in the evening. Food was good. Only saw my waiter when he took my order and gave me the bill that I had to ask somebody else for. My server was actually the back waiter. She was awesome. They need to switch places! I ate a piece of the pizza before I snapped the picture LOL. Pear Pizza!
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 We stayed in a private bungalow with an en-suite bathroom, which was a great feature. The location in downtown Calistoga made everything easily accessible, and the cleanliness of both the room and property stood out. The staff was friendly, and the complimentary coffee and scones in the lobby were a nice touch. Drinks at bar were good but pricey ($38 for 2) However, the bedding was a major downside—1 star. The old spring mattress desperately needs an upgrade, as it left our backs sore. If the bed is improved, I would definitely recommend this as a great spot for a relaxing getaway!
Seriously, a credit card surcharge? Pretty outrageous ask given the prices. This isn’t a convenience store… Everything else is great, including service and food quality. But I would consider not coming again due to that nickel and dime charge.
The ambiance is nice but the gnocchi tastes like French fries from how much salt they have on them. Almost inedible
They seem to be too busy and/or understaffed. We were seated and had to wait for about 15 mins for someone to bring us water to the table. Then we waited for another 25 mins for someone to come take our order. Don’t come here if you are in a hurry and don’t want to spend 40 mins waiting to order.
Food was C+ Flavorless fish tacos Fried chicken sandwich was good. Fries were ok
Food was good but service left a bit to be desired. Our initial drink order came after most of us were done with our meals, which came after we were asked if we wanted dessert because we had been waiting so long the waiter forgot we hadn't eaten yet. Food was ok, expensive for the experience.
Well, I loved their rigatoni, but they took that off the menu. I ordered wings. I specifically ordered them "without" sauce; they were tossed in sauce. I was told they were breaded, they were not. They were dried out--overcooked. I ate one and ordered something else--Calamari. It was good. Drinks tasted of juice only, weak...$16. I'm going back to Bistro Jeanty...😐
This review is for the restaurant only. We are local and have eaten here at least 4 times and it is consistently disappointing. This time the watermelon salad was overpriced, even for a higher end Napa Valley restaurant, which this is not, and the "feta" on the salad was more like soft old funky goat cheese. But there was very little on the salad, maybe because the cook knew the cheese was bad? The brussels sprouts were undercooked and tough. The Reuben sandwich was okay, served with an uninspired side salad in place of the fries. We like the outdoor setting and service was fine but the final kicker was charging 3 percent for use of a credit card?! !Credit card fees are the cost of doing business and for an expensive restaurant like this to tack that fee on, is disrespectful to the customers and all the other restaurants and businesses in the area that pay that fee without trying to pass that on to the customer. I hope this is worth it to the owner to irritate the customer like this to make a few bucks because we will never eat here again.
Spent over an 75 minutes waiting for anything to come out after waiting for 15 minutes for someone to take our order. We ended up leaving around 8:45 as the no-one was giving us updates one what was going on or why it was taking hours to get our order. Despicable.
Ate dinner at the restaurant - the drinks were great. However, the food was disappointing. We were going to order the mushroom ravioli but the server said it was only 4 small raviolis for ~$36, that’s laughable. We got the pizza instead for more calories for the price. We’ve had fig prosciutto pizza several places in the past and love it but it was pretty flavorless here with not very generous toppings/sauce/cheese. They didn’t have any balsamic glaze to help add flavor/sauce. Overall I think a child could probably make the pizza we had, it was very simple and plain. I think expensive restaurants should be able to make quality food that is challenging to make at home. The Brussels sprouts also were underwhelming compared to many other places I’ve ordered them. Not all sides were charred/crispy and they didn’t taste very flavorful either. Would not recommend dining here, perhaps stop for drinks for the atmosphere then eat elsewhere.
