We celebrated my birthday weekend at this beautiful place. The service was fantastic. The live music was an entire vibe. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend for a romantic night out. Owners definitely gave us a 5 star experience.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The train cars are each their own restaurant. And if you want to be outside you’ve got access to the whole menu. The vegan / vegetarian options are delicious. Impossible burger was yummy. Service is terrible with long wait times, forgotten items and orders, but the food worth it
Self-service place. You seat yourself, download the menu, then order from 4 different restaurants, and someone will bring you water, and they'll deliver the food to your table. We ordered some appetizers and cocktails, and everything arrived. we finished without our cocktails, so I went to the first floor to ask the people at the bar for my drinks. They apologized and then made our drinks. One of our drinks was delicious! The whole experience was ok. The best thing was food and desserts!!
This was AMAZING. My group has now been there twice and each time we got an array of foods and everything was unique, SO delicious, and it was obvious that care is taken for every ingredient to make sure it’s all done as best as possible. The result is that everything is just plain yummy. The place is also so interesting. I love that there is a variety of types of atmospheres you can choose from, both outdoors and indoors. We will be coming back tomorrow (again) before we head out!
We stopped by here while on our walk from brunch. We didn't get a chance to eat here. I wanted to share our tour given by Steven. Steven gave us a tour of the Calistoga Depot. The concept is amazing. You can order from 3 different restaurants-Casa Obsidiana (An array of Mexican cuisine and Oaxacan flavours) Calistoga Depot Distillery (Menu of local Artisanal foods) and Vegan options and JC Parlor Car (Champagne, Caviar & Oysters) There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Varies options for seating. We can wait to come back and try all 3 restaurants.
This was a really cool place. I was impressed. The front has a small tasting counter, great selections of wines by the bottle and amazing chocolates. As you go inside it’s a beautiful bar, live music playing on balcony of second floor. It’s mixed drinks inside but also bars out on the patio to get beers. We were just there for the drinks and music. Need to go back and try the food
Trendy/upscale food stop, great place to grab supplies and food and picnic elsewhere. On the chi chi side, with small selection of pre-made food, some breakfast choices, and good coffee bar. Coffee selection should satisfy everyone. Overall, worth a visit. Nice to see a shop like this in Calistoga.
When were you last pleasantly surprised? Awed? Danced and had a great evening with your significant other? The DEPOT is a must-do in downtown Calistoga. Excellent food, drinks AND a unique bar with a great vibe. My husband and I wandered in during our anniversary trip and stayed till closing in a uniquely renovated distillery space that looks like it’s a movie set. Excellent DJ Fri night. Check out the sumptuously decorated train cars next door, you can rent them (and the restaurant/bar) for events. Highly Instagrammable - guaranteed make your kids jealous!
What a fun experience. We started out our recent Calistoga vacation with lunch and a glass of wine at the Depot. We sat at the bar in the back. Chatted up with some other customers sitting at the bar. I had a chicken Ceasar salad. It was fresh and delicious. Pricing was a bit on the high side, but for two people from Idaho just starting our vacation, we figured, "Hey, that was fun. ..welcome to California."
Love the architecture and design of the property. Fast-casual and high quality ingredients. Ordered the following: Chocolate Croissant, The BECC Add Bacon, and Sausage Burrito. I highly recommend it to all!
We stopped by their train car for a wine tasting and were greeted by Heather, who took great care of us. She introduced us to the owner, Michael, and encouraged us to return for live music the following evening. We drove almost an hour just to hear the music by Walt the Dog. They were SO good, and it was a lovely setting. My only regret was not eating dinner there. They had some fantastic looking dishes, but we had been duped into food at a nearby bar just prior to heading over. Michael recognized us when we returned and made a point to stop by and chat. A memorable experience. Would definitely return!
The wonderful transformation of the Depot would make Sam Brannan, ever the showman, extremely proud. The new spirits and distilled liquor bar is almost complete and only waiting for the blessings from the ABC. Calistoga, going to a whole new level. This will certainly be one of the coolest places in the Napa Valley. In the meantime, the deli is open and serving fantastic food. Be sure and check it out!
Love the dedicated vegan menu, we came back several times during our stay in Calistoga and will 100% be back. Our favorites were the wild mushroom pizza, cauliflower bites and French toast, but everything we had was amazing. The service was also super friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is great, and the space is beautifully renovated.
Amazing place and incredible lunch. Something for everyone and wonderful outdoor space. Highly recommend.
Great restaurant! Me and my husband we love this place. The food is truly delicious, chefs are doing a great job! We love coming on the weekends to enjoy the live music. Our favorite items on the menu are pan seared salmon, grass-fed burger, daily tacos and also their pizzas are amazing. Food always tastes great, you can tell the food quality is high and it’s a seasonal menu which makes it even more enjoyable. Love the atmosphere at the backyard, but the inside is lovely too! Highly recommend visiting Depot in Calistoga!
Amazing place in Calistoga with great drinks, delicious food and fun people! The owner Michael and his super talented staff went out of their way to elevate our vacation with a memorable experience. Highly recommended and we will certainly be back, the next time we visit, to our new favorite place!
Five days in wine country and I wish we had eaten here more than once. While other restaurants missed, The Depot nailed it. The museum atmosphere, decor, professional service and food made a great overall experience. A delicious carnitas tlayudas fed two and the mole very tasty but was sent back to be made warmer. Interesting choices on the menu and something for everyone. Recommend.
We just spent a weekend in Calistoga and ended up eating at Calistoga Depot three times—dinner, lunch, and Sunday brunch. As vegans, we were pleasantly surprised by how extensive their plant-based offerings were. The vegan menu was rich, varied, and thoughtfully put together. The venue itself is large and full of character, with multiple sections: a front deli and pastry shop, indoor and outdoor seating areas, indoor and outdoor bars, a second-floor space with decor and a pool table, an indoor dance floor, outdoor dance space, and—most uniquely—four dining rooms inside beautifully restored old-fashioned train cars. Upon arrival, the host, who was incredibly kind and welcoming, gave us a tour of the train dining rooms, which really added to the experience. For dinner, we had the fried cauliflower bites, which were absolutely delicious, along with vegan pizzas that we thoroughly enjoyed. That Friday night featured a live band performing classic hits, followed by a DJ indoors playing great music, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. The next day, we returned for lunch, grabbed salads and other items from the front deli, and sat outside in the fresh air. On Sunday, we came back for vegan breakfast burritos, which were fantastic—flavorful, filling, and well made. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but considering the quality of the food and the fact that they cater so well to vegans, it felt well worth it. What also stood out was the historical timeline of Samuel Brannan’s life (a key figure from the Gold Rush era) displayed in front of the building—an unexpected and educational bonus. All in all, Calistoga Depot is a fun, unique, and welcoming place with excellent vegan options. It absolutely deserves 5 stars, and I highly recommend it
Super dog friendly! We had a nice lunch of pizza and cauliflower bites in the main hall. It was hot outside and we all appreciated the AC inside (especially the pup). The wood fired pizzas we got were tasty and well cooked. The cauliflower bites with BBQ sauce were excellent mix of cooked cauliflower and crispy outside with sauce. A great share plate. The setup is a little confusing as there are many different seating areas inside and out. Some tables have QR codes for ordering but ours did not. Someone came by with paper menus and all proceeded well from there.
After a day of wine tasting my brother suggested we get takeout from this place. As soon as I saw the menu and all the vegan options, heck yes sign me up! We got a variety of appetizers, pizzas, and a sandwich. Wow! Everything was fantastic and full of flavor. Idk if anything was left over! Highly recommend!
We had a lovely dinner there and came back for drinks another night! Charlie was super helpful in anwser not only menu questions but questions about the town. Thank you!
My mom and I stopped by for a glass of wine and had the flight of salsa with the house made chips, which were absolutely delicious!! Each cup had a mouth explosion of different flavors and was far from your average plate of chips and salsa. Make sure to have a glass of water handy, because one of them is TNT!! But in a good way. Alfredo was a pure delight!! He was very attentive to us as well as anyone else who was around; they all made sure our questions were answered and made sure we had everything we needed. Such an excellent vibe, with so much history and cool decor throughout. My mom is local, but I’m from Virginia and will DEFINITELY stop by again the next time I’m in town. Bravo for having one of the coolest places I experienced during my stay in Calistoga! THANK YOU!!
It’s such a beautiful spot! I recommend stopping by if you are in town even if you are not planning on drinking or eating. It’s just great to walk around - they have a chic interior and nice area with some old wagons which are nicely decorated too
The food and atmosphere here are outstanding. So much to enjoy, The vegan chili was delicious and their Palm Trees Coctaul was so delectable, it was gone before I could snap a photo.
This is a really impressive food and drinks destination in Calistoga. They have a well crafted menu with impressive vegan options. I love the unique concept with the different themed train cars and corresponding food and drink menus. Highly recommend a flight so you can try some local whiskey and ryes. Special shout out to Chris the bartender, really knowledgeable and helpful with our selections.
Older crowd on Fridays. Gives hipster vibes. Attentive staff, great service, Chris the lead bartender gave great recommendations on their cocktail selection. They do have small tables in the back, and good seating.
We stumbled upon Calistoga Depot Provision as we followed the sound of lovely music while walking on the street. This place is beautifully designed and radiates a positive vibe. The friendly service and delicious food made our evening truly memorable.
Calistoga depot was amazing, atmosphere, drinks and food were great, 4 different restaurants in one. You can sit anywhere that you want and try all the differents menu that they offer. Live music on weekends. I forgot to mention that they have worms (gusanos de maguey) and grasshoppers, and of course I had to try them, oooo and the handmade blue tortillas 🥲
Superb find with a great vegan selection! I especially recommend the vegan cheese platter, zucchini lasagna and chilli.
Wow, what a gem! A very special location where history, great food, and gorgeous spaces collide. Step out to the charming and magical outdoor space and order from 4 different eating establishments. Finish up by stopping at the mouth watering chocolate shop. One of our favorite spots.

What a gorgeous and historic place! We had the best dinner here with friends from out of town. Our server Serena was fantastic, pleasant and knowledgeable. The food options had great variety for all ages. Cocktails and wine selection were impressive. Highly recommend.

Food and Vibe is great! the decorations, live band, both indoor and outdoor is amazing. The only reason that I can't give 5 ⭐ is I get quite confused and not really comfortable using the QR code to order. Food is not available but not been told via this ordering system; when you placed the order it automatically add 20% tip with no other option even before you get your food.
Plenty of seats and they have an upper deck with TV and pool table. They also have live music on weekends. Food is very Californian. I got the smoked salmon sandwich and all I tasted was the goat cheese. Drinks are okay, but nothing special. Here for the atmosphere.
Decoration is top notch! I went for lunch, but this place has more like a cocktail, dinner vibe. Service was great too! My coffee tasted a little funny to me, and the worker at the coffee section of the restaurant changed it for me, no questions asked!
Calistoga depot was an exciting place to be. The live music was nice but too loud at times. The seating space is with various themes and is the highlight of the restaurant. We ordered duck fat fries, the burger, the cauliflower bites and gluten-free margarita pizza almost all of it came out pretty good the cauliflower bites especially had a kick that was an anticipated but welcome. In the heat of the summer we decided to sit inside but air conditioning was weak or absent which made our dinner a little stuffy. If you particularly enjoy open air vibe this place is a must visit. The interior of this restaurant has some really cool set up especially the bar and the Mexican restaurant and oyster bar which is inside of a rail car. Fun experience overall and must visit.

Great spot, we were greeted with smiles and warm personalities. Excellent pizza, the tomato sauce was tangy and flavourful. HUGE menu, I'm not sure how they can keep up with that, but what we had was excellent. Nothing pretentious, just good people and good food.

Went on a quiet Friday for a birthday lunch for 2 people. Restaurant was pretty quiet with just a few tables of customer’s. Had to ask where the outdoor sitting was. Sat down and saw QR code for ordering. Reviewed menu on phone and placed order. No servers around to ask questions. Food came quickly. Got fried cauliflower which was delicious. Needed extra dipping sauce and was told there was a fee for extra. Seemed a bit ridiculous as the size of dipping sauce bowl was pretty small. Pizza was also very delicious. But as for service it was nonexistent. Put food on table and then never came back. Had to ask for drinks which finally came after food was served. Had to go into restaurant to get container to take home leftovers. Then Added automatic 20% gratuity to bill with only option to add extra. Quite expensive lunch for 2 food items and nonalcoholic drinks. Food was well worth visit but don’t expect service.
Extremely disappointed. The food is borderline inedible — also, they gave us menus and then brought our food in plastic containers, clearly had been sitting in a fridge all day. Avocado was old, brown. We bought a bottle of wine and they gave us plastic cups to drink it out of. The trains are cool though!
I really wanted to like this place, but the service just wasn’t there. We walked in and waited quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. What made it more frustrating was seeing people who came in after us get served first. I ordered a second drink that never came, and after waiting with no follow-up, we decided to just ask for the check. I even had to go up to the counter myself to request it. Keep in mind, it was nearly empty besides a couple at the bar. Overall, the staff seemed disengaged, which was surprising given how slow it was towards the end. They did take a drink off the tab, which was appreciated, but it didn’t really make up for the overall experience. Disappointing, because the setting has so much potential.
We decided to give this place a shot because of the beautiful decor and the promise of champagne and oysters. Unfortunately, the exorbitant prices did not result into the great experience we had hoped for. There were plenty of friendly staff and only 2 other parties in the Parlor car when we walked in. However, service was painfully slow and disjointed. It took at least 10 minutes to take our order. They were out of Champagne so we ordered the JCB Blanc de Blancs and Zeitgeist, plus oysters and guacamole & chips. The Blanc de Blancs arrived shortly but, we toasted 15 minutes later, when the Zeitgeist was finally served 😮💨 At around the 30 minute mark, the microscopically small $30 half-dozen oysters came. At the 50 minute mark, I asked for an update on the guacamole. Again, the staff was super friendly and they told me it was ready but offered to cancel given the wait. Since it was ready, we agreed to keep it…it arrived 10 minutes later…a total of 1 hour since placing the order for guacamole! 😭 We asked for the check which thankfully came quickly as we had another appointment. Total came out to $90 incl. 15% tip…I usually tip at least 20%. We appreciated the additional Blanc de Blancs that you gave on the house but we had already gone through too much at that point. To the owners and management, please review and update your SOPs asap. We really wanted to like this place and don’t mind paying a premium price if the service and offerings are commensurate. Our experience at Calistoga Depot Provisions, while pretty to the eye, felt more like highway robbery.
My 7-11 pizza the next day was way better than the caprese/margarita pizza at the Depot! Inattentive service, a $26 pizza worth maybe $5 (see photo). So disappointed in every aspect!
