We absolutely love Solbar! As locals, this has become one of our go-to spots throughout the year. No matter the season, Solbar consistently delivers an amazing experience. Whether we’re stopping in for a relaxed breakfast, a casual lunch, or a lively dinner with friends and family, the food is always on point. We’ve truly experienced it all here: morning coffee and breakfast with your partner on a peaceful day, lunch in the sunshine, and dinner gatherings that turn into long, memorable evenings. It’s one of those rare places that does every part of the day well. The quality is consistent, the ingredients always feel fresh, and the menu offers something for everyone. What keeps us coming back, though, is not just the food but the overall atmosphere. It’s welcoming yet elevated, making it perfect for both special occasions and spontaneous visits. And the drinks are just as impressive as the food whether it’s a well-crafted cocktail, a great glass of wine, or something seasonal, they always deliver. Solbar is one of those dependable gems you’re grateful to have as a local. We’ll continue to recommend it and keep coming back again and again.
My wife and I ate here for dinner and had a fantastic experience. We had a couple different glasses of wine and our waiter was amazing at walking us through different samples of wine before we landed on ones we liked. The choices were great. We were on our honeymoon and the waiter brought out complimentary glasses of rose sparkling wine which was delicious. We started with the beef tartar, the crudo, and sourdough rolls— each was delicious and a great start. Our main dishes were the pumpkin risotto and short rib, both delicious as well. The short rib was so tender it melted in my mouth. We ended with a toffee cake that was delicious and hit the spot. The staff was incredible the entire time. Our waiter (I think Laura?) was amazing and even gave us a few recommendations on places to try during our visit, which we did!
We decided to stay in Calistoga for a week after we got married and were recommended Solbar by a friend. We visited for breakfast, sat outside (we had a dog) and really enjoyed it. I got the chilaquiles with chorizo which were out of this world! I want to go back and try dinner or lunch.
Have been here several times. The food and service are always excellent. The sommelier N is very knowledgeable and friendly each time. Casual setting outdoor setting, with high end vibe on food. Beautiful plates with enough to eat as well. Micheal the server is also fantastic! Laura is excellent Everytime too. She was so patient with us on a recent visit with two new friends. Very knowledgeable and fun!
We came here for my mom's 89th birthday tonight, and everything was great. I had short Ribs and french onion soup, and the french onion soup was the best I ever had. It had a whole onion baked into the cup , surrounding the soup. The service was very timely and the staff was super friendly.
Our group ordered a host of different dishes and all were amazing. There sourdough bread + butter was creamy and tasty. While it is less traditional in that there wasn’t a crunchy crust, I enjoyed it a lot. The whipped avocado dip was also amazing. Vegetables were very fresh, and the avocado and nuts were so delicious. The presentation was neat too with it being like a little garden. My main was the black cod. It was recommended to me by my group who have been here several times and I love it now too. It’s a very japanese style dish with the flavors. The cod is delicate and soft while the vegetables and rice are wonderful too Had the lemon cake desert which was extremely light, perfect for spring/summer weather. It was almost like a cheesecake in this. Loved the mint and strawberry flavors together. I definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice. The view is amazing with a mountain backdrop, a pool in the foreground, flowers and trees all under shaded umbrellas
Solbar was recommended to me by a friend. I had no idea it is part of a resort, which looks quite lovely by the way. I’d love to come back and stay here. I dined solo at the bar and had the pleasure of interacting with Carly, Haleigh and Kelly - each were kind, attentive, helpful and a genuine delight to talk with. I had a few things on the menu and enjoyed them all: Autumn (mushroom) soup, chopped salad with shaved brussel sprouts (my favorite), Denver steak - a bit chewy for my liking but excellent flavor, and the hazelnut/chocolate dessert - delish! I also had the spicy margarita which was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. And of course all the wine pairings matched the meals perfectly. This is a great date place! Ambiance and service are fantastic! I can’t wait to go back, next time hopefully with a date! 🙂
Amazing service, best black COD ever tried, must place to visit when in Napa area.
This was my third time to come here for brunch and it again didn’t disappoint. It came on sunny weekday where it wasn’t too crowded and was seated outside. The service was great . Everything what we ordered was amazing . We had Wagyu burger , ceviche and fish tacos. The burger was so juicy and had perfect balance between fat and acidity of sauce. If you are visiting Calistoga, I highly recommend this place for brunch !
Stopped by this little gem on our adventure in Napa. Everyone was so nice and courteous. We got an awesome table for our party of 9 overlooking the pool. The servers were super courteous and helpful. So polite. The lunch menu was fairly simple with salads and sandwiches and fish tacos. Of course their was a big wine and drink menu. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which was nicely presented with a small bowl of fries. My wife ordered the BLT and was raving about the heirloom tomatoes. Definitely a nice lunch place to visit in between your wine tasting tours in Napa!
Best blackened cod. The soup broth was amazing. But the real miracle was the miso carrot dip and garden fresh vegetables
Wow, very impressed with the food! The 48 hrs roasted short rib was out of this world. Everything is very fresh, flavors are amazing with a focus on high quality ingredients. Big thank you to the chef! And this Michelin star restaurant is located in the charming Solage. Definitely not to be missed if you are in Calistoga.
The standout aspect of this restaurant is the food. Absolutely delicious dishes clearly made with high quality ingredients. It’s amazing. The atmosphere is romantic and charming with the patio dimly lit and outdoor heaters available for guests. This is not a “quick bite” experience so give yourself time to experience each course. The Sonoma Coast Pinot was the perfecting pairing for the beef short rib.
Here for the cocktail and got an interactive experience! Very nice bar/restaurant. They have a separate lounge area. Most people dress up. Drinks are a little pricey, but they are very good.
I LOVE this place. It is California cool, your glass is never empty, and dishes are delicious and executed beautifully. These are pictures from dinner but we've dined here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner multiple times because of which just know the menu doesn't really change but then again why change a good thing? Hot tip- they make their own hot sauce and it is yum!
Awesome food, the bubble buzz me out for the great taste. Staffs are nice, the duck breast is ultimately recommended. Dessert comes with the scotch pudding with the lemon cake, lemon cake will be perfectly made for people who doesn’t enjoyed too much sweetness. Highly recommended.
A great restaurant inside the Solage resort. The menu changed a bit compared to last time we visited, with a new focus on sharing dishes. The food is excellent, very well presented. The service is friendly and professional. Overall, combined with the pleasant stay in the resort, such a great way to escape busy Silicon Valley for a weekend!
Super fresh and tasty. Great cosy wooden atmosphere with high ceilings. My wife’s favorite cooked fish so far.
Gorgeous restaurant. Went for breakfast. The drive was totally worth it. Chose a seat outside with a view of the pool, and a water fire pit next to the table. Service was excellent. Food was amazing. Ordered chilaquiles Rojas, so utterly delicious. Presentation was beautiful, definitely wished we had shared because portions were very generous. Tortillas were crisp, sauce was just the right amount of spicy and the the eggs were golden fluffy pillows of deliciousness, with ripe creamy avocado slices. Also tried a side of smashed potatoes, which we did share, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Will definitely return next time we are in wine country.
Staff so kind and super excellent service, Laura is the best. The food was super amazing, fresh food and an explosion of all the flavor in the different dishes we try. Is a A+++ clean place with a A+++ customer care and food. 100% recomended. Thank you Laura for gave us one spectacular night.
Very tasty food, great service and the location has gorgeous views. The waitress was very helpful describing the different plates and her recommendations were great. The chicken and dumplings had a very unique flavor and the portion was just right.
Food was outstanding. Don’t miss the potato chips and caviar. Their grilled octopus- best I have ever had. Thank you Kelly for the great recommendations
We had a wonderful dinner at Solbar in their private room. The food was delicious, and the staff was incredibly helpful in assisting my friend with his proposal.
Great service and food. Elegant presentation and delicious taste. I had the avocado toast, which was tasty. Others in the group had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and the Chilaquiles and both were absolutely delicious.
This restaurant for dinner was above amazing. From the best service with Laura I couldn’t be anymore happier. She was amazing and Solbar is so lucky to have this amazing waitress! She went above and beyond and made my fiancé and I have an extra amazing anniversary/birthday! The service was top notch! The food was above phenomenal and all the champagne and red wines were off the chart! The steak was one of the best steaks I ever had! The caviar and chips were amazing! You need to try this restaurant for dinner! You won’t be disappointed!
11-13-2022 – Went with a couple of friends I started out with Green Flash (Like a Margarita but spicier and better). A friend has Gin/Tonic and liked that the tonic (Fever Tree) came on the side. We shared Sourdough Parker House Rolls (served warm with butter). Highly recommend as not many places give warm/hot bread. The Whipped Black Sesame Seed Dip can be skipped (nothing to write home about). The Gnocchi (lobster), Sake Marinated Cod and Diver Scallops were outstanding. The serving size for scallops seemed awfully small (3) even though it was listed under Mains. We ordered two desserts (Lemon Cake and Butterscotch pudding) and they were both great. The place seemed a little deserted, but I guess understandable as it was a Sunday night. The staff was very attentive. Would like to come again in the day and may make a spa day out of the trip. On a whole a lovely experience. Good fun was had by all.
Great restaurant and wonderful atmosphere as far as comfort, quality, and professional service. Had the “incredible” burger and a delicious but just a bit spicy Bloody Mary. Overall everything was fantastic. The crab cakes were surprisingly good as well.
Cocktails were very good, corn soup delicious, hamachi crudo the very best we’ve ever had (seriously, get it!), firm and tasty shrimp cocktail, the freshest salad I’ve had at a restaurant, an interesting take on Spanish octopus with SE Asian and Singaporean influences that was excellent, followed by an okay piece of halibut and a perfectly done steak. Solbar is highly recommended! Oh, and the wines were good, too.
As soon as the truffle fries got to the table we knew that it was going to be a good day. The fish tacos were unusual in that it was fillet of sole. Some of the best fish tacos I have had. Everything was solid and service was attentive.
Great lunch experience with outdoor seating. Friendly host and server. Chef made accommodations for vegetarians with protien substitute. We ordered Truffle fries, lettuce wraps, tacos, protein style impossible burger and reuben sandwich. Soup and Sandwich. Good portions and recommended
Upscale dining experience like no other. The views alone are worth a million. Craft cocktails and one of the best ceviches I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.
Wow. This place is spectacular. One of the best meals I've had in a long time, with a relaxing outdoor seating area next to the pool, and dog friendly so my little guy could join us on our adventures. The oysters were perfection, the spring peaches and prosciutto fantastically fresh, and The Lucky Pig al pastor pork shoulder was off the hook...and big enough for 2 to share with leftovers.
Our waiter was attentive and overall service was amazing. Atmosphere was beautiful and the weather for outdoor seating was perfect. Most importantly, the food was consistently delicious. Not a bad dish!
We dined as a party of 6 on 9/22. This was our second visit to Solar and we had Laura as our server each time. She was a delight, making great wine recommendations for our food orders and providing attentive service. She recommended the Poggi wine and we were surprised to have the owners serve their wine for both bottles we ordered. They were passionate advocates of their wine and a lovely couple. All around, it was an excellent experience and our thanks to Laura and the entire staff. Mark
Wow this was my second time eating here on Christmas eve. Last tim is was declious but this time it left my jaw dropped. We ordered the “canned” tuna, parker house sourdough bread rolls, my dad got the chicken and i shared the black cod and halibut with my mom. It was the best cod and halibut i’ve ever had! i almost licked the bowl. And our server Alejandro was fantastic, very attentive and knowledgeable, and helped curate a perfect evening. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Enjoyed a lovely dinner here. Our server Michael was a wonderful host. He did an excellent job making recommendations and timing courses. I would absolutely recommend Solbar.
Solhouse X Fly By Jing serves some of the best Chinese food we’ve had! The service was top-notch, and reservations are highly recommended. We arrived 30 minutes early, and they were kind enough to accommodate us. Their signature sauces were unique and delicious—we enjoyed all three. Everything we ordered stood out and was full of flavor. The dumplings are a must-try, especially the spicy ones (flavorful, not overwhelmingly hot). The boneless wings, chili crab noodles, sake, mocktails, and dessert were all excellent. A fantastic experience overall—highly recommend!
Tried both breakfast and dinner here for our stay. Very nice food and wine too. I personally loved breakfast more. Try the lobster omelette- so good. Coffee was so so. I guess that is not what they optimize for.
Solbar is a beautiful spot tucked into Napa Valley perfect for a relaxing, elevated lunch in between wine tastings. The setting is calm and peaceful, which we really appreciated. You could actually hear each other talk which is rare and refreshing these days. I popped in with two girlfriends for a late lunch, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was warm, attentive, and helpful with the menu. We ordered a variety of dishes to share: the lettuce wraps were fresh and flavorful, the sourdough rolls with spinach dip hit the spot, and the fish tacos were light and delicious. We also shared drinks and the “Lite Lunch,” which was a fun way to sample a few things. The only miss unfortunately a big one were the Solbar Nuggets. They came out overly greasy and just weren’t edible. None of us could get through them, and that was disappointing, especially at this price point. What left an even worse taste in our mouths (no pun intended) was that our server acknowledged the issue and wanted to comp them, but management refused. For a nearly $200 lunch, that lack of flexibility felt out of step with the rest of the experience. Great service, beautiful setting, mostly solid food but that one moment really stuck us.
Dined late night outside. Hardly anyone there. Very relaxing, service was very good. The food was good. Great for a late night relaxing date night.
Dec 2024 Had our xmas day brunch and were glad to have been seated without a reservation. The food is modern American dining and are up to the latest tastes and trends. The service staff were attentive and helpful. The interiors are part of the Auberge resort hotel. The resto is comfortable, bright and spacious with very modern country style look. Definitely an ideal place for special occassions and for brunches.
The atmosphere and service was impeccable! Great view of the pool and and nicely shaded patio. Very relaxing and the server gave a superb wine recommendation. I really wanted to give 5 stars but the lobster roll totally let me down. There were huge chunks of lobster which was amazing! But the herb aïoli completely overpowered the lobster. All I tasted was herbs… and the roll wasn’t even a roll just a toasted slice of bread. While the bread was very tasty it made it pretty difficult to eat; it was a definite fork and knife situation. On the plus side the fries were crispy and well seasoned.
So comfy and warm inside while having a good amount of seating outside as well. We opted for indoors since it's still so cold in the morning but would love to sit outside when it's warmer in the future. Food was all prepared and executed well. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the highlight for me. The pancake flavor could hold its own. I loved the swirls of lemon flavor within the batter. So soft with a bit of crisp from the griddle. The blueberry plating was pretty and gave another dimension to the flavor profile and amazingly not overpowering or too sweet. The avocado toast was delicious and the chile sauce was amazing with the potatoes. Service was great and you can make reservations in advance. Highly recommend!
I was here for brunch on a weekend, the menu is solid, every dish comes with fresh greens or fruits. The portion sizes are good and the service is nice too! Tried the avocado toast, french toast, fruit plate and coffee. All of them are pretty satisfactory.
We had a 2:30pm brunch reservation for my bday last Sunday at Solbar after some wine tasting in Calistoga. We were seated in one of the half booths nearby the fireplace which are really comfy. The ambience was classy and very quiet but not uncomfortable which it can be sometimes in fine dine places. This restaurants is a Michelin Star but surprisingly not too costly. Our waitress was very polite and very attentive and gave great suggestions. Between the 4 of us we had the soul fries which were lovely with the lemon tartar sauce and the pumpkin bruscheta as starters, and double cheeseburger (award winner) with batter fried pickles, mount washington eggs benny, loch duart grilled salmon over cous cous and the falafel rolls as main courses. Because my husband couldn't decide between mary's fried chicken and the burger, the waitress was too nice to bring him both hahaha we were all stunned! The fried chicken was really delicious. I would say you could omit the falafel and the eggs though. We shared at the end an amazing butterscotch rum pudding with soft almond cookies - it was really really good. Their restrooms were lovely and so clean - don't miss on their lavender hand lotion. All in all a great experience at this beautiful venue. We will be back for sure!
The wait staff is lovely. Very attentive. The food however was underwhelming. This restaurant is supposedly Michelin rated. To be fair, my expectations were high. I started with a cocktail. The flavor profile was strange. It was gin based with thyme and an apricot jam. It was not my favorite. We started with 3 shared appetizers . The shrimp appetizer was shrimp on a bed of butter lettuce with asian inspired glass noodles/vermicelli. This was delicious. There was an additional house salad with a house made buttermilk ranch dressing. The dressing lacked flavor. It was bland. The third appetizer was burrata with sliced and diced heirloom tomatoes and pesto. Again, just underwhelming. The tomatoes were delicious, but the dish was not very inventive. For our entree we were given a choice between fried fish tacos, a "wagyu beef" Reuben and a caeser salad. A caeser salad?!!? As an entree option in a Michelin rated restaurant. The fried fish tacos were good, but nothing spectacular. The Reuben was good but a tad over salted. the Reuben came with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was way too creamy and had a strange fishy finish. Fish sauce? Anchovies in the sauce? Not sure. More of the same with dessert. Not bad, but very mainstream. Setting was beautiful. Service was great. Just not a fan of the meal.
Food failed to impress. Flavors not execution, did not match the presentation. The octopus being a sole, tasty, standout but it was cold. Service was very good and atmosphere and design was beautiful. The value of the experience left me with an overall feeling that Solbar is a one and done.
My daughter requested lunch at Solbar while we were in Calistoga for a mother-daughter trip. We ordered the lobster rolls, the Parker Rolls, the Brussels & Pear salad and drinks. The salad came and it tasted as if there was little or no dressing on it but the real disappointment came with the warm lobster rolls which came cold and smothered in Hollandaise sauce which was tasteless. The Parker rolls were the only thing that I can recommend. We ate the salad but sent the lobster rolls back. The replacement rolls were not much better. What a disappointment and when it was brought to the attention of the restaurant, nothing was done except to say it would be relayed to management. Wish we would have gone to the Four Seasons again instead of Solage. The Four Seasons meal we had was excellent. No comparison here. Don't waste your time or money at Solbar.
shocked by this place. obviously a gorgeous atmosphere, but that's where it ends came for lunch, ordered a chicken sandwich. it arrived raw. sent it back and ordered another. it also arrived raw. we said forget it. insanity. ordered the fish tacos. they don't say fried (where the chicken does say it's fried), so we were not expecting fried... that's ok though. however it was about 3 tiny pieces of fish and cabbage... that's it. nothing particularly wonderful or flavorful, the tacos at any little town restaurant in calistoga are about 10x better. dont waste your time or money here, even if you're staying here. head across the street to the restaurants at four seasons - everything is delicious and... COOKED.
We were excited to try Solbar given its Michelin reputation, but I’m honestly glad we switched our dinner reservation to breakfast—because even that was a letdown. From the start, service felt rushed. Our server walked away mid-order, drinks took forever, and when we asked about the menu, no one seemed to know much. For a Michelin-rated restaurant, that was disappointing. The crab cake Benedict was the biggest miss—bland, puréed, and missing the fresh, lumpy texture real crab should have. The bacon tasted nuked, while the donut holes were the only highlight—warm, fluffy, and delicious. Then came the wait: another 30 minutes just to pay. Staff seemed more focused on setting up for the next shift than serving the guests still there. The table behind us waited even longer just to order. We also mentioned we were celebrating a birthday—the host even acknowledged it at check-in—but when another table across from us celebrated, they got complimentary donuts and a candle while we got nothing. It’s not about the freebie; it’s about consistency and care, which was clearly missing. To top it off, breakfast for three totaled $183. For that kind of price, you’d expect a memorable meal and thoughtful service. Instead, it was a bland experience that felt rushed, indifferent, and completely overhyped. Beautiful setting, sure—but definitely not worth the visit, not Michelin-worthy, and a total waste of our morning.
