Best Chinese restaurant I've been to in a while. Definitely recommend the Mongolian Beef. Had the walnut shrimp and it was a good shrimp dish, would ease up on the sauce, but still great tasting. Had some other chicken dish that was also very good.
This spot makes very good food .. service is excellent..
I love everything about this place. The decor for example keeps changing in a very elegant style. The service by the group of very respectful , and on top of their game group of man. We ( my family) consider going to Chester's a great afternoon just because we know we are about to have the best food we all can wish for, and yes we get pamper by Keith the owner. Thank you Keith . I love. Orange beef, veg. chowmain, lemon and orange chicken, Compow three family, We love every dish and that is the truth.
The menu at Chester's Asia boasts a diverse array of traditional Chinese dishes, expertly crafted to tantalize the taste buds. Whether you're craving the bold flavors of Szechuan cuisine or the delicate nuances of Cantonese fare, there's something to satisfy every palate. Standout dishes include the flavorful Kung Pao Chicken, sesame chicken, and the war wonton soup. In conclusion, Chester's Asia Chinese Restaurant is a gem in Camarillo's culinary landscape, offering authentic Chinese cuisine. Whether you're craving your favorite Chinese dish or eager to explore new flavors, Chester's Asia is sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you planning your next visit.
We had heard about Chester's when my wife saw that it was the number 1 rated Chinese Cuisine in Camarillo and it did not disappoint! The portioning was also much more than we had anticipated. We ended up having some of the beef chow mein and half the Wonton Soup the following day. Nicki the front entrance host and gentle man we spoke to over the phone was five stars in service when I went into their beautifully decorated in-door restaurant to pick up our order.
An absolutely fantastic restaurant. My family has been coming here before I was born, and I'll be sure to visit any time I'm in town. The appearance is sorta funny. Generic chinese shop sign with a high class European interior, but I can guarantee anyone that this place is delicious. Portions are massive. As a child to a grown man you'll be leaving with left overs if you didn't come starving. I love this place and the staff have always been wonderful. Thank you Chester for always being there. Always a treat to visit and hope to see you for a very long time
Love the color red and delicious taste sensation of really good Chinese food? Stop by Chester's for an explosion of firecracker red Chinese New Year's decorations! The food and service are excellent. We ate some of the best sweet and sour pour and chicken, beef and shrimp chow mein that I have ever eaten. The jasmine tea was superb fresh, clear and a pretty orange hue. Our waiter was very attentive and passed by multiple times filling our water glasses and checking that everything was okay. Add all that to the fact that Chester's is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Camarillo where you can still go in and sit down and eat, and I have found a new "old" favorite restaurant in Camarillo!
I’ve been wanting to come here for some time, the food was amazing. I’ve had many chicken fried rices and I’ve got to say the one here is really good!! I had the chicken with mixed vegetables and the chicken fried rice and It was really good. The rice wasn’t overly fried, and was seasoned just right. The chicken was tender and savory. I also had their plum wine- my absolute favorite 💯 I highly recommend Chester’s! The staff was so nice, we had an older gentleman greet us and we exchanged pleasant conversation. The decor in the inside was beautiful and intricate, and it changes each season. I haven’t been to a place quite the same in a very long time. This has become my new go to!
The sweet and sour shrimp is great! Pork fried Rice a must have. And the spare ribs a must.
Best Chinese food lunch specials in Camarillo! Love the pork fried rice and sesame chicken.
This is hands down one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The prices mixed with the quality of service and the food is always top notch when I go. The place has a old time feel to it with various decorations making it feel like 1800s France. I always get the dinner special because it comes with a lot of food for such a good deal. There is competitive parking because the parking lot is shared with toppers pizza. The place has over 5 booths and about 8 tables and it does tend to get busy.
Came into a crowded restaurant. Despite the congestion, we were waited in within five minutes or so. We ordered one of the family meals for two. Food—copious amounts of it—began flowing out of the kitchen within three minutes of ordering. Four appetizers and three entrees, plus soup, for about $21 each. Full platters of the entrees, too, not individual plates. Generous portions and the food was very good. Hot and tasty but not salty. The only disappointment was the insipid, lukewarm tea which did not improve when a second pot arrived. Still in all, a very satisfying dinner experience. Will definitely return if I’m back in Camarillo.
Our first time going there with my 2 year old daughter and my nephew. The food came quickly and was nice and hot. Everything was absolutely delicious. The waiter, David, was probably the best waiter I’ve had ever. He was attentive, accommodating and absolutely amazing in every way. He brought my daughter a few “chicken strips” and her own Shirley Temple that we didn’t even order. David was the sweetest. He also made sure we had plenty of drink refills. The food was superb. We’ll be back every few weeks from now on!
Awesome Chinese restaurant! Great little place to eat. It's usually crowded but the wait time is decent. It's festively decorated. The food is what brings people back year after year. It opened in 1963 by the original Chester and been owned by family members ever since. It's been at the same location for 60 years. Open for lunch and dinner. It's a must try if you enjoy good Chinese cuisine!
Quirky-Glam and delicious Chinese dining!! We feasted on this meal until we popped & let's just say leftovers fed us several meals. We got a seafood soup to start, 🥦 Broccoli beef, BBQ 🐖 Pork and green bean, Ginger 🐟 Fish, Walnut 🍤 Shrimp, Chow Fun, Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, Har Gao and Sesame Ball! It was around $160 for our family of 4, and we each got at least 3-4 plates of food. If you get to dine-in, it is such a lovely atmosphere! Service is excellent, and the Decor is very Opulent with mood lighting. My family continues to order Chester's for 12+ years now. It's our "go-to" in Camarillo.
Loved it. Great food. Friendly staff. Awesome decor. Like going back in time. Clean.
Food is always fresh and delicious. Keith and staff are super friendly and make you feel like family.
The best hot & sour soup. It has a lot of meat, tofu veggies. My husband said the best chinese food he had. It' s not salty. Meat are soft. The roasted duck is amazing, my husband' favorite .
Always a nice place to eat and enjoy ourselves. Delicious Gourmet Chinese Food, fast, and friendly service. Looking forward to returning.

First time there and it took me back to my childhood when my dad would take us to have Chinese food family style like that. Food came out fast and nice and hot. Food was so good that I totally forgot about snapping a picture. But it was pretty. Basically need to be there to understand...Live in the moment.
The food is so good! When I want Chinese food, I will drive from Oxnard to Camarillo just to pick up lunch from Chesters. Usually there is a line but that is always a good sign that the food is good, and worth the wait.
This is an old school Chinese restaurant of the kind I grew up visiting. It was elaborately decorated with bric-a-brac surrounded by elaborate wall covering and large paintings / murals. Many murals are on the ceiling, too. The wait staff was patient with us as we looked through the many pages of menu. We were greeted with what I call Chinese potato chips accompanied by mixed mustard / ketchup sauces in a single dish. We 2 had the Deluxe Dinner with Three Ingredient Tastes and Three Flavor with Garlic Sauce entrees. The Deluxe Dinner also comes with Imperial Soup, BBQ ribs, fried shrimp, paper wrapped chicken, egg roll, BBQ pork fried rice and tea. We had leftovers to take home. I really enjoyed the mild white sauce of Three Ingredient Tastes vs. the brown sauce of the Three Flavors with Garlic Sauce. The fried rice was tasty, too. The Imperial Soup was a delicious, complicated version of egg drop soup with lots of egg drops and other smaller ingredients in it. The BBQ pork ribs were really messy with sticky sweet sauce. The fried shrimp and the egg rolls were solid but not outstanding.
Chester’s Chinese Food in Camarillo is, without exaggeration, the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. The food alone would be enough to make it legendary, every dish is packed with flavor, comforting, and consistently incredible, but the experience goes way beyond the plate. The décor is super authentic, and the moment you walk in, it genuinely feels like stepping into another world. It’s immersive in the best way, warm, nostalgic, and full of character, like the space has its own soul. You don’t feel rushed or distracted, you feel transported. It’s the kind of place where the atmosphere and the food work together to create something memorable. Chester’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. Once you eat there, it sets a new standard, and nothing else quite measures up.

Went to this restaurant for my sons birthday celebration. Walking in, I noted the ambiance with dimmed lighting. The place has a very Italian atmosphere, interestingly. The food was very good, no complaints there, but service was slightly slow as they were extremely busy & maybe a bit understaffed. We were without drink refills for a time, reminding our waiter, who remedied this with a friendly attitude. I mentioned it was my son's birthday, so at the end of our meal the waiter brought out a special fruity drink & we sang HB. Restaurant customers even joined in, very nice! Giving the benefit of the doubt, I would go back to this restaurant again :)
Pretty nice place! The vibe is part Roman Coliseum, part Italian coast.. if that makes sense. It's pretty tightly packed inside, but still feels open when you sit down. The service is great, pur server was by our table every 2 or 3 minutes refilling waters, bringing whatever we requested. We had a party of 9, ordered 7entrees and we have plenty of leftovers. Very large family size portions. Flavor could have used a bit of love, but not bad by any means. Maybe just use salt and pepper a little less sparingly? In a nutshell, I will definitely come back with my family!
The food is amazing I have been looking forward since last Christmas! The service leaves something to be desired. We sat 15 minutes before we got water which we are still waiting to be refilled. I’m writing this in the pre food art of our experience which also is taking a long time. Food again is amazing…. Still waiting for water. I really love this place and don’t mean to be negative just real. I will come here again
It’s ok for Americanized Chinese food. This place is about as authentic as the average Italian restaurant in the Midwest. Regardless, it still tastes decent. The char siu ribs, sweet and sour shrimp, black bean shrimp, and beef broccoli tasted good. The egg rolls tasted a bit unusual. The fried rice was a bit bland. The wonton soup was straight up chicken broth. And the texture of the chow mein was weird, almost as if spaghetti noodles were used.
Unique experience for sure. Chinese restaurant with European decor. Very old school style Chinese restaurant with large family style plates put on a lazy Susan on the table, Waite staff dressed traditionally. Food was good and portions generous. We enjoyed the meal. We had chow mein, fish, chicken, beef,..all were good.
I am really spoiled by good Chinese food. Knowing there are several different styles, I have to say this wasn't my favorite. Never the less I really liked this place. You feel as you stepped into a different times. The service is prompt and friendly. For me the food had a mild taste but my girls were happy. I almost didn't have a chance to try the fish how fast it was gone. Orange chicken is nice and everyone liked the BBQ pork fried rice. Nice place to dine, thank you
Ladies and gentlemen, Chester's has been around longer than most of us.. Authentic Chinese food, great quality, large portions, and good prices.. So, why wouldn't you not go. This place is a must if you have not been. See my pictures.. Like always, my brothers enjoy good eat, that make your food soul happy, God bless everyone..
I recently visited Chesters Asia in Camarillo, California, upon the enthusiastic recommendation of my parents, who are regulars there. My experience lived up to their high praise. I ordered the chicken curry, which was delightful and richly flavored. I would rate it an 8 out of 10, only missing out on a higher score because I personally prefer a bit more coconut flavor in my curry. Nonetheless, the dish was satisfying, and the portions were generous, providing enough to enjoy at home later. The service was another highlight. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The decor of the restaurant is tasteful and inviting. Though the space is relatively small, it feels cozy rather than cramped. It's a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service excellent. I would recommend Chesters Asia to anyone looking for a quality dining experience in Camarillo.
Great 🥢 Chinese 🥡 food ! ! ! 🥠 with a whole variety of different dishes 🥣 ! 🍜! 🫖 ! 🍋! 🥦 ! for one to enjoy the palate of culture 🎎 express through the delicious art of culinary Chinese ingredients ! 🍊 🐣! ! 🐂 🥦 ! ! 🍋🐥! ! 🐂 🍄 & 🥦, 🥚 🌺 soup, or 🦆 some of them spice 🌶 hot 🔥 🥵, some of them on the sweet 😋 side of taste👌 ! Another interesting fact about this place is that they have been here since the 60's, the restaurant has had some remodeling & it looks beautiful from the ceiling to the 🎨 art on their walls 🖼 is really pretty a real inspiration, it gives an atmosphere of tranquility while enjoying your taste buds 😋 👌!!!

Chicken fried rice was great but I can't recommend the crispy beef. It had no flavor and wasn't crispy at all, or spicy..
Cool place to visit. I was helped right when i walked in. Adter my order it tool about 20 to 30 min to get my food. Lemon chicken was on point! Almond chicken qas not what i was expecting, not really any flavor. The BBQ pork fried rice was good.
We were here 3 years ago during XMas, the wait was long and we were famished by the time food was ready, this place didn't leave much impression to me. Fast forward to 2021, received coupon from Chester's, looked at reviews and thought I'd give this place a try since it's Chinese New Year and I was craving Chinese food. Ordered from chef's special - shrimp with walnut, crispy beef, lemon fish and asked for recommendation for a chicken dish and went with cashew chicken. Was told order would take an hour to be ready, was fine with it as we were planning to do some shopping before pickup. The host was very nice and gave us free egg rolls and also offered to give cookies. The entrees came with steamed rice which was nice. I enjoyed the crispy beef and chicken dish that came with vegetables but the shrimp was really creamy and sweet which was weird to me. Fish was battered which was also sweet, not to my liking. The four dishes came up to $65 with big portions
Eclectic decor. A cross between Victorian and Chinese. Seems a bit out of touch. Food could have been fresher. I got a piece of beef that tasted bad of which I rejected. Service was good. The ladies were nice and attentive. Food needs an upgrade for us to go back.

My family has been coming to Chester’s for over 40 years. It’s long been a staple for us — a place with consistently delicious food and warm memories. Unfortunately, the service over the past year and a half has taken a noticeable and disappointing decline. We visited last Sunday for lunch, and although the restaurant wasn’t very busy, we waited over 15 minutes before anyone came to offer us water or take our order. I finally had to flag down the hostess to get someone to assist us. The server — someone we’ve had several times before — seemed completely disinterested and inattentive. Our meals arrived at different times, and what should have been a simple one-hour lunch stretched into two frustrating hours. To be fair, the food was as amazing as ever — Chester’s kitchen still delivers. And one of the busboys went above and beyond, quickly refilling our waters, bringing sugars for tea, and generally being more attentive than the actual server. I handed him the tip directly, as he truly earned it. It breaks my heart to write a critical review of a place that has meant so much to our family, but the steep decline in service needs to be acknowledged. Chester’s has always been special — we hope to see it return to the high standard it was known for.

Really disappointed with how I was treated today. Be warned that the online prices have increased by a lot. I placed an order for pick up and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I got there about 30 minutes later and then had to wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged and then had to wait another 15 before I got my food. I realized that I was charged way more than what I expected. Online, the bbq pork fried rice is advertised as $8.75 and the sesame chicken at $11.75. I was charged $48.80 for these three items. I stepped back into the restaurant to ask for clarification and had to stand there for another 20-25 minutes before I could ask anyone. There were 10 other people crowded in by the front door and not a single one of them had been acknowledged. The restaurant was somewhat busy but all the tables in sight had their food and were just eating. The workers kept walking around in the back but no one would come to the front and talk to anyone waiting. Finally, one of the workers came to the front (only to answer the phone and tell someone else placing an order that their food would be ready in 25 minutes) and she turned around and quickly tried to walk away without even looking at anyone waiting. I stepped in front of her and asked about the bill and she very dismissively said, “Oh yeah, the menu posted online is just really old,” in a way as if I should have known that. She told me the sesame chicken is now $18.50 which is a huge difference from $11! I like the food at Chester’s but after today, I can’t see myself coming back. Waiting is one thing, but being flat-out ignored multiple times (multiple others were as well and were clearly not happy) and then being told off about the price was incredibly rude. A $7 increase is a big enough deal that they should tell people over the phone that the prices are different and UPDATE THEIR MENU. Also, the workers kept coming up to ring up bills of tables that were done eating and then taking the bills back to them without checking in anyone new. So the restaurant was clearing out but there was still a line hanging out the door onto the sidewalk of ignored people. By the end of it, I had spent nearly an hour at Chester’s and my food is cold.
The food is average, flavors are a little bit bland. A bit pricey although the servings are big. My family of 7 had dinner and had a bill of around $200. I put a tip of $20 but the waiter made a dissatisfied face and told me the tip should be 15% to 18%. The receipt did not even have the suggested tip amount and computations. I did not know tipping is supposed to be mandatory. I usually tip whatever amount that I feel is right. Never coming back.
Went on Christmas day in the evening ad it is mother in laws birthday and we've been doing this for years. We made reservations for 530 and were seated at 620pm our egg rolls came out quickly but they were cold. The balance of our food took over an hour to come out. People were waiting 2 + hours for their food. I think they need to rethink their service and food cooking because this was the worst ever. We made reservations hoping it would be better but it was horrible. Food was good as always and hot but took way too long we didn't leave until almost 9 PM!
I visited this new restaurant that serves a mix of Asian cuisines. The lunch menu was $16.05. The décor has a lot going on, and the place was busy when I went. A few things to note: • They charge an extra fee if you use a credit card. • There’s a posted sign saying California law requires you to ask for sauce if you want it. Also the decor is a mix. • At lunch, the only rice options were white rice or BBQ pork fried rice—no vegetable or other varieties available. • When I paid cash, they didn’t automatically return change. I had to ask for it back, and I noticed a couple of other people did the same. The food itself was okay, but not quite what I expected for the price.

There were 5 of us placed at a much larger table and unsteady. Our order was brought to the table individually and not all at once. Very crowded seating. Less portions. The waiter brought the bill with a leaking pen. The ink got on our hands. We had difficulty leaving as the tables were so close. This was the worst dining experience ever.
Beautiful atmosphere but waiters on the rush side
I don't know which was worse, the food or the service. Both were horrible. Anything that was at least edible was flavorless. The Kung pao shrimp was slimy and smelled bad. Never again!
Our family has been coming to Chester’s for over 50 years. My mom wanted to get takeout from here to celebrate her birthday. I ordered our food for 12 people 3 hours before pickup time. We arrived 10 minutes early and our food was not ready, no big deal. After sitting and waiting with other customers, Chris and Carlos, we learned they had been waiting quite awhile already. They ended up giving Chris’ food to Carlos by mistake. They ended up calling Carlos and telling him that he needed to come back. Meanwhile we have asked several times for our order status. Every time they would go to the back and return with no answer. After waiting 40 minutes (30 minutes past our pick up time) we were told they had not even started our order. We walked out. When we arrived 10 minutes early, why didn’t they realize their mistake and start our order? Dine in customers that arrived 15 minutes after us were eating before we walked out. Sad to see a staple in our family turn into this. The level of incompetence is at a level I have never seen.
Had high expectations for this traditionally decorated restaurant. However, after waiting 1 1/2 after ordering (no special orders), and the fare being mediocre at best (I’m being generous), we won’t be back.
DONT EAT HERE!!! Terrible food. This was genuinely one of the worst places I've ever eaten at and I am ashamed to have paid 20$ for my order. The wontons taste terrible and were poorly folded. The broth had freaking pork loin in it and the broth taste mediocre at best. The main course I ordered was sezuchuan chicken and the chicken was disgustingly. It was goo-y, chewy, and bland. The sezuchuan chicken didn't even have sezuchuan it and only had 2 chilies. So basically it's just like British Chinese food that's the easiest way to describe it. In conclusion NEVER EAT HERE
Our family has been coming to Chester’s for over 50 years.
