Opinions de Medusa's Real Mexican Food Cambria
Authentic food. My wife said it was the best huevos ranchers she's ever had. I had a pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Not traditional Mexican and they were incredible. Great service. Don't be detoured by the interior...the food is awesome.
Very good experience. Food was delivered quickly and was delicious. The gentleman who assisted us was friendly. Small space but perfect and quiet. Will definitely come again.
This is the place to enjoy outstanding Mexican food. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty everything was. We enjoyed chicken and beef enchiladas, carnitas tacos, and chicken flautas. All were excellent. I should also mention the home made guacamole. If your looking for exceptional food and service, you can't go wrong with this restaurant
This is an amazing place to eat. Service and food are both amazing. We had such a great time trying the different salsas and the burrito supreme was excellent! Out of all the places to eat around here this one is a must for great food and great prices.
Came at 10:30 for a late breakfast. Had the rancheros and my wife had the tamale and eggs. Everything was delicious! Salsas and sauces were well flavored and the service was excellent. Prices are similar to the area.
This is true Mexico style food run by a wonderful talented family of Cooks! This is a Local favorite because the food is delicious, affordable, take it on the run or dine in house- Wine and Beer menu! They can handle large or small crowds! Thanks Medusa
My son got the burrito that he loved. I got the butternut squash enchiladas which were so good. Also the black beans and rice that came with the enchiladas was absolutely the best beans and rice I've ever had with homemade Pico de gallo
Very reasonably priced, especially considering that it's in a little tourist town. Interesting decor had us laughing as we noticed various little things throughout our meal. The fish taco was pretty good, although I did find two little fish bones in it. My boyfriend got a wet chicken burrito, and it was PHENOMENAL. Good enough to make up for the fish bones.
Very friendly and great food..not your typical Mexican fare. All freshly made. Family run and operated. Been there for 20 years with the same cook who now owns it. U won't be sorry finding this very small place. Turn off Hwy on Cambria Dr and you'll run right into it. I've been going there since it opened in 1999!
This place is great! The staff is SUPER nice and friendly. We sat down outside with our dog and ordered right away, the food was delicious and the lady was always smiling when she checked on us. (Also the restroom was very clean if you care about that stuff)
Quaint little family owned mexican restaurant. Portions are big and the tastes and flavors are great. If you are in Cambria and looking for a delicious, filling meal I recommend this place highly. I eat here about three times a week. My mother is vegan and they have been really great about substituting black beans for meat on the burritos and other items. Everyone here is friendly and very helpful. Small dining establishment, only about four tables and a couple booths, but that gives it that homey feel.bi honestly can't say enough good things about this place.
If you're craving authentic Mexican food before your stop at the nearest state park, please stop here for food. We tried this before we continued on our West Coast road trip, and we totally enjoyed the chilaquiles.
Great food they just close to early, always seem to be closed around 5:30pm/6pm
Nothing to complain about, if you've been anywhere in Baja you'll be right at home!
Recently moved to the area, and have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant. We found it at Madusa's Taqueria in Cambria. The place is small but serves some tasty food. I had a beef chimi changa, it was delicious, and packed with a large amount of beef included sides were guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. The owner and his son were very nice. We will be going back for sure!!
The food here was delicious--and I'm a SoCal native, so I know good Mexican food. 😄 Everyone in my group devoured their food after a long day on the road. The dining room itself is really small, so I imagine seating could be an issue, but we went on a Wednesday early evening and it was no problem. Service was attentive, if not overly warm. All in all, an excellent experience!
The food here was legit good and authentic. We were greeted promptly and seated. Food took a while to arrive but it was great when it did. My mom, wife, and kids all found something they enjoyed to eat. They are a bit stingy with drinks and chips, charging extra for both after the first refill. Not sure if that's to stop vagrancy, teenagers, or both, but it was literally the only thing I didn't enjoy. I'll be coming back every time I'm in the area.
The food was so delicious. Outstanding customer service. Our waiter Julio was extra attentive
Premium food. Delicious. Great friendly service. 8-14-25
Food was great! Nice and low key, nothing fancy. We were staying in San Simeon just for one night and decided to eat here. So happy we did! The people/family that owns and works there were all very nice and polite. Prices are good too.
Little savory secret on the main frontage road in Cambria. Authentic homemade Mexican food that is extremely delicious! Asked for my Shrimp Diablo to be turned up a notch. SMOKING!!! Mom and pop shop with the best folks ever. Our server was their beautiful daughter and she has a fabulous personality and was so pleasant to talk to. One bite of the flour tortillas and my eyes lit up! I told my wife, OMG, these are homemade! I could have kissed the mother l was so excited! The best flour tortillas l have ever had! When in Cambria, a must stop is Medusa's Taqueria!!
Friendly service and great food! Definitely recommend
While this is definitely a casual, "hole-in-the-wall" little place the food and service were fantastic. The salsa is made in-house by the owner, very flavorful. The chips were good and could have used some salt (but hey, that's why there's salt on the table). I had two tacos, shredded chicken and shredded beef. The chicken was moist though didn't have a lot of flavor (added the salsa for some zip). The shredded beef was well cooked, the greens, cheese and radishes gave it a nice flavor. The tortillas were doubled and though the tacos were stuffed, the tortillas held it all. Beer was ice cold. Don't expect a lot from the dinning room, this is a tiny little pop and son restaurant with a big flavor.
The best Mexican food in Cambria. Great service and the freshest ingredients
Delicious vegan tofu rancheros that you can get in an enchilada (pictured), taco, or burrito. Ask them to hold the cheese and sour cream. The red sauce was great. The horchata has dairy so not suitable for vegans. Sit down service was very friendly, prompt. Definitely recommend.
Always the little cantina, in that little spot, in that little town, that gets it done! Great flavor and traditional Mexican dishes. Many options for burritos and other entrees. I had the grilled fish tacos and they were perfect. My wife had the shredded beef burrito, wet. The savory factor was excellent. I will definitely return on my next Cambria visit.
Love the tortillas here. The first Mexican food since coming back to California and wasn't disappointed. Missed the carnitas of the west coast 😊 great place!

We had two breakfast burritos, which were very good. We Will definitely be back for more.
absolutely delicious food, and our server was so nice and friendly too. got it to go to eat on the beach, but the adorable art made us want to stay. highly recommend the squash enchiladas !
In Cambria for a few days and decided to try this place with our family. It’s pretty small but when we went there, it wasn’t very crowded so we were lucky. The food was great really great and we all enjoyed it. Run by a nice family and service was excellent. If you’re in town, you should give it a try. Good food, great service and good prices. Mortgage could you ask?
Medusa is the best Mexican food place I've ever eaten at. The fajitas, homemade chips and salsa are amongst so much on that menu that is delicious. Our top top when we go back to visit.
Really great food and wonderful people working here. Some of the best Mexican food. My wife loves the tostadas and for me it's the fish tacos. I wish we lived closer... but every trip to Cambria we always stop in.
The great food, and super friendly atmosphere makes Medusa’s our favorite stop whenever we visit SLO Town! Best fish tacos I’ve ever had!

Quick service with friendly staff and tasty food. The food wasn't exceptional but was still good. The chips and salsa served at the beginning were great! Just the right amount of spicy and crunchy.
We have been coming in town for nearly 40 years and this place has been open for nearly twelve. We finally decided 2 stop in and check out the food. It is a small place with a nice homely atmosphere. The people working in there are really really friendly and helpful. We were a party of four and the food came fairly quickly and it was really good. We will definitely come back and patronize this place again.
Charming, family run establishment. Only 6(?) Indoor tables but the takeaway was going strong. We got there early enough to "beat the crowd". Friendly & attentive even though it was Saturday of the long weekend. Enjoyed our generous, tasty portions.
Went there while visiting Big Sur. It is a really small restaurant. As an appetizer, the staff gave us free chips and salsa. We ordered 2 Tacos with rice and beans. The food was okay, but the portion was small. There is a parking lot behind the shopping complex and you can also use the street parking.
Very local type place. Informal setting and almost feels like you are eating in someone's house. Great for vegetarians and vegans cause their refried beans are made without lard and they have Tofu as a protein option in several dishes.
Tried the fish taco and chicken taco. Both were good, but the chicken was better in my opinion. Overall good, but not incredible.
Chips and salsa were decent. I got the squash enchiladas--the verde sauce could have had more kick. Small selection of inexpensive (cheap) beers and wine. Order at the counter.

Found this place in Cambria and as a vegan it was hard to find a place that would have food for me. This place has a wonderful tofu taco that people should try.
It's a very small, but nice Mexican restaurant on Mainstreet in Cambria. The food was very good. I got chicken strips. The people that work there are very nice. They greeted us when we walked in and kept checking to see if we needed anything as we dined in the restaurant. It's kind of cluttered with decorations, though. The good news is: if you're a customer, you can use the restroom for free, otherwise they'll charge you $3.
Staff was nice. I ordered a combo plate with a beef enchilada and a chicken tamale. The beef was dry like it old, but the tamale was moist. My dad ordered the carne asada and that was tough as hell. I'm sure they've had low turnover because of covid but it was a nice small town restaurant to try
My group of law enforcement motorcycle club members arrived unexpectedly, but the staff made an impressive effort to accommodate us. The venue was unimpressive, but the food was pretty good & prepared fairly quickly.
They no longer maintain their posted hours! We routinely attempt to eat at Medusa's on Friday nights and week nights excluding Mondays when they close at 3:00, and rarely if ever are they open past 6:30, which doesn't work for the out of town worker in Cambria who wants to get home and shower before dining out. We've moved on but wanted to express our disappointment.
I forgot to add my pictures for Medusa’s taqueria. So here they are. As in tried to do a prior post, the food was disappointing. I ordered a chicken grilled quesadilla and they added canned chicken into that quesadilla— as soon as I left the restaurant I stopped to the closest gas station to buy chocolate and get rid of that taste. I couldn’t eat that quesadilla and had a burrito which was meh, but not as disgusting as the quesadilla. I initially was excited about this local place. Because of their generous wine pour they get 2*. Food is sad.

First and last time at Medusas. The food was good the service was ok. I was shocked when the lady made up her own prices when the bill was being paid. The menu had price's but she changed them on her own. I heard another person complaining about the same thing. The man must of been a regular because he stated he was being charged $3 more from 2 days before.
