I came to Nine Tastes for a quick lunch and I have to say that I was not disappointed! The drunken noodle and red curry were both absolutely phenomenal. Service, speed, and vibes were all very good. It is also a great price so I definitely recommend.
We had the lunchbox specials ($14.95) and they were excellent! There was more than enough food in the special and water refills were plentiful! In Boston/Cambridge, it would be hard to find a better value+quality proposition. We walked there from the T, so I'm not sure about parking, but I would assume it's hard to come by.
Came here for a group for a reunion. So glad we picked Nine Tastes! Great food and even better catching up 🥘
A surprise find in middle of hustling Harvard square , the restaurant is nice and has delicious food. The service and staff is very amazing, we just had 25 mins as our parking meter was running out, and they ensure we had our table , food and check ready and we are not late. It’s a high recommend if you are looking for Thai in Cambridge, MA.
I’m always on the search for a good Tom Kha soul which for my surprise is not that easy to find; but this place has an amazing one! I was so happy to try their Tim Kha! Best one I had in years! Deinety recommend it! Can’t wait to go back and try some of their other dishes.
excellent beef special and the pad thai was pretty good. we also got the thai seafood curry and was surprised at how exquisite it was for the price. one of the best value options at harvard square without compromising tastes and authenticity
So tasty so good and people are amazing feels like home... Family own awesome experience
As a Thai, having Thai food abroad could be a bit different in terms of authenticity, BUUUUTT not this restaurant! The food tastes very authentic and super super good! They also come in very big portions! Worth it! 😍
Amazing! I went here last night to celebrate my friend's birthday 🎂. I'm not a fan of Thai food, but this place clearly changed my mentality. I had Red Curry (vegetable option). Do yourself a favour and order this! It was so delicious that I didn't want to finish it. The air in the restaurant is classy! The lights are elegant and the curtains royal gold. It's a proper dinner place, which affords a party just enough privacy to interact without overhearing other conversations. The staff is responsive, proper, and professional. I want to go back again.
It seems to be better to make a reservation before you go. Especially at around 7, this restaurant is pretty crowded. This restaurant has variety of food menus. In addition to curries and gyoza of which I took pictures, you need to take time to decide your menu! Because it’s a Thai restaurant, take care not to choose too spicy food if you don’t have strength for spicy tastes.
Good menu variety. We ordered the spring rolls, scallion pancake, tom yum soup, and drunken noodles. The soup was really fresh and food was served hot.
This place is delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the money bags that I love to order, cause I just dove right in without taking a picture 😅 I ordered chicken drunken noodle and it was great! Not too spicy but has a little kick. The shrimp papaya salad was okay. It only came with 2 shrimps!! Only 2!! But otherwise would highly recommend!! Try this place out if you like Thai food!!
Located in a basement level, the restaurant itself has two separate dining areas. It has all typical Thai restaurant's menu. We ordered some appetizers, two different soups and entries. Our food came fast, everything that we ordered was tasty and fresh. Service was fast and pleasant.
Very cute place . Amazing service and even better food . We had to try to mango sticky rice because it is and season and it is the best I ever had . I typically do not like sweet foods but this was one of the best deserts I ever had . We also had shumai it was great ! Everything was so good. Most definitely will be back for more and the prices are good as well.
Sep 2023s party of 2: enjoyed the aromas and flavors from this place. Appetizers had good presentation and flavors of crispy and perfect amount of oil. Dishes were too good to take a picture of but had some rice pad thai.
Ha! So I found another good Thai restaurant in Cambridge! Good service, good atmosphere, and good Thai food. I suggest to ask for fish sauce and chilies, which it will come as the condiment jars. So you can add vinegar, fish sauce, and chilies to your fried rice or noodles. Thai beer is cheap here. 10% discount with student ID. ส้มตำปลาร้าแซ่บอยู่ (papaya salad with pickled fish is cool.) But non-Thai people may find it difficult to understand why many Thai ladies love this dish.
Excellent selection of Thai food and some other Asian cuisine. The curry dishes are all excellent. The duck dishes are slightly more expensive but very delicious.
Food is amazing! We ordered the salmon teriyaki 🍣😋 and the chicken krapow over rice 🍗🍚 and both were very good! Service is great as well.
Having just moved from Singapore where authentic Thai food is abundant, I was so so pleasantly surprised by the flavour & heat in the Pad Kra Pow I ordered. If this is what I can find in Cambridge, the future of humanity is bright!
The food here is very good, the restaurant is very clean. The price is very reasonable
really solid, good flavors and rice quality and coherence. Nice meat quantity too, good flavors and solid egg
Newly renovated restaurant with famous 9 taste pad Thai, roast duck is crispy outside and tender inside
Love the food and the owner is so friendly and accommodating. 😎
Have been here so many times! It's small and cozy and you won't be disappointed with the selection of Thai dishes. Worth a visit for sure when you are in Harvard square
I had a wonderful experience trying the food samples. The staff was always smiling and never negative, and the food was incredibly tasty. I absolutely loved it.
Cute restaurant in basement off Harvard square. Service was fast and food was delicious. Scallion pancakes were unlike any I’ve had with a flaky dough. Unexpected and delish. Had the 9 Tastes Pad Thai and some kind of fried rice which was heavily infused with Thai basil. Soooo good! The two flavors of the two entrees were so good together! Glad my dinner partner was good with sharing. Finally, and this may seem like a weird thing…but I loved their takeout co trainers! Couldn’t finish all of our meal so we got a box and it was that old style paper carton that used to be the norm for Asian restaurants. I wish more places still used these! Would order a to go meal from hear just to get a meal in these containers!
Nine tastes is easily the best Thai food in Cambridge. I don't know how I've missed this little place. It's far bigger than you assume when you go in. The food was fresh authentic and just flat out delicious. Great service. Fair price. Highly recommend.
A friend recommended this Thai eatery. It's delicious and inexpensive, perfect for a lunch. Spicy Thai Original Kra Pow Chicken, Fried Egg: This was my first time trying kra pow chicken (always the ORIGINAL pork), perfect for controlling the calorie intake. This dish was marked with three chilies, and even though I asked for it to be mild, I was still a bit overwhelmed by the spiciness. Apologies for being a Cantonese:) The chicken was stir-fried with great wok hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), tender and smooth, with a rich aroma of bird's eye chili, Thai basil, and garlic. The salty, umami and slightly sweet aftertaste of fish sauce and oyster sauce was especially delightful, making it incredibly delicious with rice. While the sweetness might showed a bit of an American influence lol, but I really love sweetness. The portion was huge; I took some home and ate it for a second meal. However, the fried egg was just average, overcooked. I expected an over-easy egg perfect for mixing with rice! Thai Spring Rolls: A pleasant surprise as an appetizer! The roll skin was crispy but didn't fall apart, and the bean sprouts and carrots inside were tender and juicy. The Thai sweet chili sauce was a classic accompaniment. The lunch set meals are reasonably priced; you might want to consider giving them a try!
I had a fantastic meal at Nine Tastes in Cambridge, Massachusetts! The Crispy Chicken Pad Thai was absolutely delicious—perfectly crispy chicken paired with flavorful noodles, all tossed in their special sauce for just $15.95. The portion was generous, and the balance of flavors was spot on. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere had a cozy, welcoming vibe that made the dining experience even better. I’d highly recommend Nine Tastes to anyone craving authentic Thai food with a creative twist!
Great tasting Thai food at a casual but elevated restaurant! The food is very flavorful. I would say it is a little bit overpriced, the experience and food is worth $3-4 cheaper than the actual price. Yes the food is good, but it’s quite normal and there was nothing spectacular. The mango curry was good except the mango bits took my by surprised and almost had a slimy texture which I personally didn’t love, but that’s just what mango bits in curry feel like. The noodle portions were quite small for the price. The pad thai didn’t look very appetizing since it was a bland beige color and had no veggies. I’d recommend the curry if you come here! The service was good though and this is a good restaurant for large-ish parties (8-12) as long as you make a reservation.
First time ordering delivery from this Thai cuisine at Harvard area. We ordered their crispy chicken Pad Thai and crispy chicken Drunken Noodles. They tasted great with reasonable price for crispy chicken option but the portion can be bigger. Overall, will try their other dishes next time!
Knew this restaurant long time ago but never tried until i decided today, it was a great choice. Enjoyed the food and service a lot. Full of tastes and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend.
Pretty solid as it goes for Thai food, quality and moderate price ($29) for good amount of food, smaller than average portions but tasty and moderately filling, more filling last time but same good quality (10/1/22).
A solid place to get Thai food that’s close to the Harvard Square T stop I got tofu pad Thai and pan fried veggie dumplings. The pad Thai was very filling and good enough for two meals. Keep in mind that there are only stairs to get to the restaurant, so it’s not very accessible
We got in there accidentally thinking it is a bubble tea place. Ended up ordering couple items which were good and reasonable in price. One portion of curries could even good enough for two peoole
Solid and fast takeout for lunch. Noodle dishes are well priced and not too sweet. The broccoli is very good. There are steps to enter the restaurant.
I had the crispy chicken curry and it was delicious!! It was a very good sized portion and my leftovers reheated well and were very tasty.
It is about what you would expect for a Thai restaurant in a touristy area. The menu packs with various options, the space can accommodate a large group and the service is relatively quick. The food is tasty enough to alleviate/cure your hunger but will not leave you wanting for more. The Khao Soi lacks authentic flavor. The massaman curry has so much liquid that it is basically soup, but the flavor is there. I do think this place lives up to what it is and I would still bring a group of friends here after a climbing workout or just simply to unwind, but definitely not for an elevated dining experience.
Forced tipping! We were forced to leave a tip at this restaurant. When we selected “no tip,” the server stopped us and insisted we give at least 15%, claiming that “if you don’t want to tip, go tell the state,” even though tipping is not required by law. They even told us to “respect this country.” We suspect this was triggered because we asked to change our dish — the pork belly we ordered was all fat and totally different from what we had here before. We switched to a cheaper dish (by $3), but they wouldn’t adjust the price. It’s hard not to wonder if this treatment was because we’re not white. I doubt they would speak this way to white customers. The food is good but we won’t be returning.
Ehh the food was okay, I had better Thai around here. I enjoyed the Crab Rangoons the most! The pad thai noodles were delicious but the chicken had no flavor. The drunken noodles lacked noodles sadly though the flavor was okay. Truly I wouldn’t come back
Cons: Extremely watered down curry. Bad lunch containers: double section causes rice being soaked with the curry/ other dish. Please change the choice of the containers. Pros: fresh products used Not satisfied, it was so much better before… what happened?
I ordered the drunken noodles and was kind of disappointed. The noodles were mushy and were falling apart from being overcooked. The flavor was good though. Although there wasn’t a lot of people in the restaurant, I felt kind of rushed to finish my meal and leave by the waiter. Probably because I was eating alone.
Ordered To-Go one night after going through all the reviews and thought of giving a try. Food did looked good But to my disappointment all of the chicken smelled like I was in poultry farm surrounded by chicken. This just ruined my appetite.
It used to be my go-to place for lunch many years back. Not sure if COVID forced a management change, most of the employees are different now and the restaurant had a new menu. Unfortunately things didn’t change for the better for the restaurant. Few comments from a not-so-great dining experience today: 1. Summer Lover, aka. Steak fries + small bowl of coconut soup for $10.95… I understand it’s inflation time, but for about 15 slices of fries (one of them so over fried that they don’t even bother to pick it out), and a bowl of soup as a dip? Who uses soup as fries dip? It’s too watery to have fries pick up any soup and the taste together is just strange. A 100% rip off. 2. Their spicy level. I used to remember when nine’ taste’s spicy level is legitimately spicy, with 🌶, 🌶 🌶, and 🌶 🌶 🌶. The dish I ordered today with three pepper signs, tasted sour and sweet, nothing close to the level of spiciness indicated. One of Thai food’s essences is its spicy level that activates the taste buds. They failed miserably. Overall, the taste of Thai food has gone downhill since pre-COVID times. I suspect there’s a chance of management and of course, chefs as well, along with a hyper inflated menu items. As a former loyal customer of Nine-Taste, I would not come here again.
I was charged a large party service fee(18%) when we only have 3 people. I went to a lot of a places, a lot of restaurants, it’s my first time being charged a large party service fee when less than five people!! And there is literally no service at all!! We ordered Tom Yum soup and only one scoop was serviced. I asked the waitress to give me two more scoops for my parents. After I finished the dinner, I still don’t get the two scoops. How dare you automatically charge a 18% large party service fee?
If you don’t want to be served/treated like an animal, please avoid going this place. I think the server name was Bew, she was mad for any questions and also when closing the check she was trying to take over the tipping section and was showing rude character. I don’t know how management of this restaurant is controlling their employees but overall no one shouldn’t be treated the way as this place do. Hope they will take action.
Food was good but horrible service from waiter we asked for food recommendations she was not able to tell us anything told it is rice and chicken. When we asked for low spice she gave very spicy when we asked to replace she started shouting and complaining to her coworkers. At the end we tipped low because of this rude behavior she came to our table and told at restaurants you need to tip 15 to 20 percent. If we don’t like the service we will leave low tip or no tip there is no mandate on it.
By far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. They blocked the entrance and would not let us leave until we gave a tip. Given that we are college students and we spent $50+ on the food, I explained that we were splitting the bill and we would not be able to leave a tip. The man kept demanding it and even though we had already completed the transaction, made us pay again. During our dinner, we were rushed as well and experienced poor service, yet he seemed entitled and was unhappy that we chose the 18% tip rather than the highest options. Very disappointed in the staff’s behavior and we will not be coming back. I wish I had read the reviews before dining here because it seems that many people have experienced this issue.
I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. While I was still eating, the server came over and demanded that I pay immediately—without me even asking for the check. She gave me a look as if I was being rushed out, which made the whole situation uncomfortable. When I chose not to leave a tip because of the poor service, she started cursing at me and saying, “If you don’t have money, don’t eat here.” That was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. A restaurant should make its customers feel welcome, not pressured or insulted. This kind of behavior is a joke and shows a complete lack of respect for guests.
Portion sizes are abysmal. Charging this much money for such a small size should be criminal. I couldn’t even get a full serving out of the dinner size portion for the red curry chicken meal. Not enough chicken by any means, it was mostly vegetables and sauce. Same thing for the lunch meal. It was half of what a normal sized lunch portion should be. I understand inflation is real, but this kind of portion sizing is unfair to the customer. Please do something about this.
