When reality exceeds expectations! I've been waiting for this restaurant to open for quite some time and it was worth the wait. Great service with a staff that constantly checks in to ensure that the dining experience is wonderful. The location of the restaurant is very unique. Not your normal retail area but Del Lusso is located within a mixed-used office setting in Carlsbad with plenty of parking. I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara (photo attached) and it was very delicious. I recommend that dish if you love spaghetti. My wife ordered the Americano Pizza and that meal really surprised us. Its something you definitely have to try. I have never experienced a pizza with honey and now I can't imagine eating a pizza without it. The best part of the pizza is their dough. Most pizzas make me feel heavy, but Del Lusso's dough made me feel very light. We will definitely be coming back here!

I have been to Naples and this pizza was the closest thing ever outside Naples. Felt like being being back there. The crust was spot on, the thickness, the edges, how charred it was, and the taste. The ingredients were good. Service was awesome. Lara did a fantastic job. Walter and Ron, the owners, are very nice and hospitable. The ambience was really nice. Even the colors, red and white, reminded me of pizza restaurants in Naples. You won't be disappointed!

Del Lusso is a real gem and much needed in Carlsbad. The food is unbelievably fresh, light and delicious. I inquired why the dishes tastes so delicious and was told that the ingredients come from Italy. The open ambiance of the dining area is pretty swanky and yet casual.

Went on a quick lunch date. Split the hot Italian sandwich w/ side salad with the wife. The salad was light and tasty. The sandwich was yummy and the bread was so good. Our server Ashley was fantastic and even brought us out a couple cucumbers for our baby to snack on.

The wood fire pizza and pasta was...chef's kiss! The owner, Walter, came to our table, made great conversation with us and gave us insight on some menu items. Our waiter was top notch! Everything was wonderful. Next time we are back in Cali, we'll make sure to visit again.

Fav date-nite spot with great vibe outside next to large firepit. Love the Caprese salad & Woodfired pizza. Have chatted with Walter one of the owners a few times (so friendly & attentive).

Out traveling for business and was recommended this place by a local. Such great food and service. The hot honey was incredible to dip crust in. Whomever poured my beer deserves an award. The food is fantastic and they have a great happy hour menu.

Say what you want~ this pizza was 👌🏼👌🏼 so fresh and quick and delicious 🤤 We went on happy hour before 5pm.. and was very pleasantly surprised. Plus the price was very reasonable and the beer was half off hehe . Cute patio and very clean space. The server was nice too.

Love this place. Light, fresh and great pizza. No frozen crust here. The fungi pizza is great and the sausage and Galluci is awesome too. The Mediterranean salad is super as well. The owner, Walt, was there and the service was great too. They know their food and have been trained well. This place will be a success.

If you’re looking for the best Italian food and best atmosphere then you can’t go wrong here! The entire staff smile and enjoy their jobs. Thanks Chase and Walter for the great night.

When we first arrived we were greeted by the owner who was very nice. Over all our experience was good and the waitress was very attentive. The Bolognese and sausage mushroom pizza were very good. Definitely going back soon.

This place is wonderful. The atmosphere and service are both fantastic. The owner, Walter, came out and introduced himself, shook my hand, and thanked me for stopping in. Thought that was a great touch. I ordered the spinach and ricotta pizza and added grilled chicken and tomatoes. The pizza crust was perfectly cooked and the amount of sauce and toppings were perfect. Highly highly recommend!!

“We got friendship. The kind that lasts a lifetime.” Chris Stapleton We’ve made two visits to Del Lusso Pizza and during those visits we’ve managed to meet both owners (separately). Walter and Ron met as kids in Montreal, Canada, and likely had no idea how deep their bond would become. Now years later they live on the same street and own this place together. Since “Del Lusso” means “of luxury” in Italian, they set out to do this right (including moving to Italy for a period to study how to properly craft a molto bueno pizza)! (By the way, bonus points are available to anyone who can spot the bougie logo hidden within the Del Lusso sign mounted on the brick wall. Only half of our Review Team spotted it.) If you choose to visit, we’d recommend planning on three courses. The “Lusso Meatballs” featured an amazing marinara sauce, the “Galluci Pizza” tasted incredibly fresh (without making you feeling weighed down afterwards), and the gelato? Please don’t get us started. The selections will vary, but we couldn’t resist sampling all of the current offerings (Banana Caramel, Pistachio, Coconut, and Chocolate). Indoor and outdoor seating is available, the music is upbeat and contemporary, and takeout (including gelato) is available. We’re thankful that after all of these years Walter and Ron are still friends and we can’t help but wonder…any chance you could add Henry’s Take to your circle of friends? 🤞 And that’s…Henry’s Take #carlsbadpizza #neopolitanpizza

My wife and I decided to try Del Lusso after work tonight and it was absolutely fantastic! We decided to sit outside so we could enjoy the warm night and colorful lighting on the patio. The bread and oil that was brought to the table was fantastic while we figured out what we wanted to eat. We decided to share the slow roasted pork poutine, the sausage and mushroom pizza, and finished the night with the cheese berry tart. All three dishes were amazing! The cheese on both the poutine and the pizza had just the right amount of pull to it and the tart was the perfect way to close out our meal. The owner Walter and his staff have done an amazing job at bringing a warm, friendly, and delicious new eatery to the Carlsbad area and we cannot wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Amazing experience! Great service from the moment we walked in until we left. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I got the honey hot pizza and my husband got the chicken parm and both were absolutely delicious. The owner Walter introduced himself and and so friendly. Highly recommend

Still one of my favorite Italian places in Carlsbad. This time I had the pasta Carbonara and it was delicious. The Italian pilsener I had was very good, too.

Delicious authentic Neopolitan pizza. All the food is exceptional, However the real draw is the personal warmth of the owner Walt, his darling wife, and attentive staff (thank you Hannah!). It's the perfect familial neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Del Lussos is absolutely amazing, staff are warm & friendly, the food is outstanding and I love the family friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend the fettuccine Gamberi 👌🏻 Walter never forgets a name! 10/10

We are from out of town and We came to Del Lusso by accident, but our son seen it and wanted to dine in, it was the best decision we made! The pizza, pasta, (which neither makes you bloat or upset your stomach) drinks, customer service (by the owner), atmosphere all of the above was so amazing! Made you feel right at home with your little family. 10/10. Definitely recommend and we will definitely be back when we come back to town!

I happened upon this restaurant by accident and decided to go in because I was just in Napoli a couple weeks ago and was feeling a need for closeness to it. I’m so glad I did. Walter (the wonderful owner) sat me himself and was incredibly kind and fun to talk with, and that alone would make me a repeat customer. But then you add the gelato… get the vanilla, thank me later.

Having moved recently from Chicago, we were nervous about finding a pizza place that felt like home. Del Lusso’s is now our favorite family-owned spot for pizza and good vibes. Our kids love it, but never have to beg. We’re always up for the delicious Neapolitan pizza, cozy patio, and the warm service. Highly recommend!

TL;DR Food was fresh and delicious. Service was fabulous. I will definitely be going back. So to be honest it was never my intention to try this restaurant. After a long busy day at work my partner and I discussed some various options. I tried making reservations at another restaurant and it was an hour wait. Disappointed, we searched for something close to home that would satisfy our hunger. We had decided on a burger joint just down the road. As I waited for the arrival of my plus one I wandered over to the menu board of a neighboring restaurant. I reviewed the menu offerings and pondered the taste of some of the delicious menu items. While reviewing the menu a friendly man approached and offered me a table. I kind of declined his offer and mentioned my current holding pattern pending the arrival of my partner. Walter, as he introduced himself, let me know about the quality of his ingredients imported from Italy and the fresh wholesomeness of his ingredients. As I strolled away I picked up the phone to advise of a change of plans. She and I both delighted in the prospect of enjoying some fine Italian food and the excitement of trying something new. As she arrived and strolled through the beautiful park-like entrance of the property I mentioned the beauty of the aesthetics of the restaurant's physical design, highlighting the awesome bi-fold glass garage door that tied the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. We were promptly seated upon arrival at an "outdoor" table underneath a warm and welcoming outdoor heater. As we reviewed the menu we had trouble deciding on what to order. There were so many things that piqued our interest on the menu. Walter checked in on us to see if we had any questions about the menu and we explained our predicament. After some brief discussion on our top choices we were assisted with making our selections. Insalata Burrata - Arugula, Burrata, fresh pepper Spaghetti alla Francisco - Mild, fresh Pizza Bianca - White pizza We started with the Insalata Burrata, which was a refreshing burst of flavors. The creamy burrata paired perfectly with the peppery arugula and a dash of fresh cracked pepper, all drizzled with high-quality olive oil that screamed "imported from Italy." It was light yet indulgent, setting the tone for the meal. Next came the Spaghetti alla Francisco, a simple but masterful dish. The sauce was mild and vibrant —nothing overpowering, just pure, wholesome Italian comfort. The pasta was cooked al dente, and every bite felt like it was prepared with care using those premium ingredients Walter had mentioned. The star of the show, though, was the Pizza Bianca from their brick oven. The crust was thin, crispy on the edges, and chewy in the middle. It was minimalist in the best way, letting the quality of the ingredients shine through without any heavy sauces or overload of toppings. We savored every slice Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. Walter stopped by again to check on us, sharing a bit about the restaurant's Neapolitan-inspired roots, which added a personal touch. The outdoor seating under the heaters made for a cozy atmosphere, even as the evening cooled down, and the seamless indoor-outdoor flow gave the place a vibrant, welcoming vibe. Overall, Del Lusso exceeded our expectations for what started as a spontaneous detour. The food was authentic, fresh, and full of flavor, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable for the quality. If you're in Carlsbad craving Italian done right, skip the chains and head here. We'll be back soon—maybe to try the meatballs or one of their red sauce pizzas next time! 5/5 stars.

I first came across Del Lusso when I saw someone mention it online, so I decided to check it out on Google Maps. The menu looked promising, although the reviews were a bit mixed—some positive and some not so much. Still, I decided to give it a try. We ordered their pizza, and I have to say, it was really good. The flavors were on point, and I was impressed with the quality. The service also stood out—it was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. While it might not be my absolute favorite pizza spot in the area, I’d definitely go back for another round to also try their pasta. Worth trying if you're in the neighborhood!

We were in town for our youngest son’s Make-A-Wish trip to Legoland. On our last evening, we decided to look up to see if there was a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria in the area. We found Del Lusso Pizza, and it was probably one of the most memorable dinner experiences of our lives. If I could give this pizzeria 10 stars, I would! Not only is the pizza excellent, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and fun. Now onto the service… AMAZING! Our server was really helpful with a great personality. Now on to the unexpected… After dinner, we were greeted by Walter, the owner. After an incredible conversation, Walter brings over a shirt for our son. Bruce Lee on a pizza turntable is awesome, btw! Then he had the waitress double our dessert order and then surprised us with a dessert pizza. We’ve never had anything like that happen. Walter has this business down to a science, but it’s his compassion that makes all the difference. He appreciates his customers and it’s obvious his employees love working there. As a business owner myself, this level of service and care is inspiring, and the pizza is bursting with flavor. I can’t say enough. Wish we had one back home in Buffalo, NY!

Finally, Real Gluten-Free Pizza. Thank You, Del Lusso! As a celiac, I usually have to interrogate every restaurant just to feel safe. But Walter, the owner of Del Lusso Pizza, was incredibly personable and patient as he explained how they handle their gluten-free food. I told him I wasn’t just looking for a gluten-free option, I wanted real pizza. Not the dense, premade GF puck that leaves me disappointed and still craving the real thing. He assured me that this was the real deal. He wasn’t wrong. The pizza was excellent. The crust had amazing texture, chew, and flavor. It even had those signature hot pizza oven cook marks; the kind that deepen the flavor and remind you you're eating handcrafted, wood-fired pizza. I’m a sensitive celiac, and if there had been cross-contact, I would have known before we left. But I felt completely fine after eating an entire sausage and mushroom pizza, plus part of a Nutella and berry dessert pizza. The gluten-free dough is made in a dedicated mixer in a separate space, raised for 36 hours, and hand-formed. While it’s cooked on the same oven surface as regular pizzas, the 1,000-degree oven thoroughly burns off any residue. I admit, I was skeptical at first, but the results speak for themselves. The sausage and mushroom combo was spot on. The mushrooms were oven roasted right on the pizza, tender, flavorful, and generously portioned. As a mushroom lover, I was thrilled. And the dessert pizza? My whole family helped devour it. I’ve only had one other gluten-free pizza of this caliber, and that was in Stuttgart, Germany. I wish we could come back regularly, but we’re on vacation and leave tomorrow. Even so, I’m just grateful we found this place before we left. There is an $8 upcharge for the gluten-free crust. While that might seem steep, it’s worth every penny. Most GF pizzas leave me wanting. This one left me completely satisfied. Thank you, Walter and Del Lusso Pizza, for treating gluten-free pizza like it deserves to be done right, and for finally satisfying my long-standing pizza craving.

This was a pleasant surprise to say the least. A friend here to enjoy some amazing pizza and delicious salad coupled with a nice wine & beer. The interior was fun and vibrant with music. However my only gripe about this place is how LOUD the music is. I should be able to have a conversation in a restaurant and not have to shout to converse. Ergo, the 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for atmosphere. With some cool pictures on the walls, including a Bruce Lee spinning a pizza. The restaurant has a garage style door that rolls up to the open air in front of the restaurant with outdoor seating and heating. It was very populated with people enjoying themselves at a wonderful Italian restaurant. Salad was wonderful and dressed just perfectly and not over saturated. The pizza was to die for with an amazing crust. I will have to definitely come again as I am craving the pizza

Amazing food, great atmosphere and top notch service! This is a beautiful modern restaurant. My wife and I have visited twice and were impressed both times. The pizza is great! We tried a red sauce pizza our first visit, and then a white pizza on the second, both were amazing. Super authentic tasting, with fresh simple ingredients. Nothing over-done like a lot of pizza places do. We got the Italian chopped salad both times because it's absolutely amazing! For dessert, tiramisu is what you want. Probably some of the best I've had. Good wine list and plenty of beers (draft and bottle) to satisfy most palates. A bit unexpectedly, you can also get an amazing cappuccino here...I highly recommend one with dessert. Service here is never overlooked. The staff knows the menu and are quick to give recommendations on both food and drinks. The owner, Walter, is very friendly and introduced himself on our second visit. He talked to us about the menu, and you could tell he was passionate about what he does. The restaurant itself is new and modern. Bright colors inside with comfy seating throughout. There is also a really nice outdoor area with a large rock firepit, which is great on a chilly night. Go try this place. Ask Walter to tell you why his sausage pizza is so amazing. Ask your server what their favorite red is. I promise you the food and staff will deliver above expectations.

Traveled to Carlsbad for a leadership event and was looking for a casual Italian restaurant with good pizza and a variety of pasta dishes. We wanted outdoor seating for a party of four. The hotel recommended del lusso pizza. We had a great experience and got to know the owner and his wife. Such genuine people and the food was top notch and high quality. You could tell the difference. Excellent wine selection and the deserts were fantastic. I highly recommend it. We left feeling like we have known the owners for years. Great spot.

We’v been there twice now! Walter, the owner, is a super nice guy, and he and his staff are very attentive, always helpful, and friendly. The food was delicious and authentically Italian. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really cozy, and on my next trip to the USA, I'll definitely come back to eat and have a good time. Greetings from Peter & Flo from good old Germany.

Del Lusso is my favorite restaurant! The owner, Walter, is so kind, welcoming & attentive and the food is phenomenal. I started with a glass of Pinot Grigio (Italian wine is SO smooth). Then I tried the flatbread which is made with Italian flour (that leaves you feeling light and satisfied). I ordered the Italian Chop Salad for my main meal. It came with fresh mozzarella and capers (which were a nice, flavorful touch). The flavors of the dressing and salami complimented each other so well!! I finished things off with coconut and espresso gelato and a cup of cappuccino that made me feel like I was sipping in on a gondola in Italy!! Soooo delectable!! The service was great & the ambiance was amazing too. I just love this place. If you haven’t tried it, you must!!! Tell Walter that Kelly G. sent you. :)

Absolutely delicious food and a wonderful restaurant. Everything here was spot on. The service, food and ambiance. Special shout out to our server Michael. The owner Walter was extremely kind and came over to introduce himself. Such a nice man.The cook was cheffing it up back there- kudos to you. We had all of Michael’s recommendations: the Diavola, the Funghi, side salad and tiramisu. We cannot wait to come back to this place. We loved our meal. Next time we are going to try a pasta dish. Thank you Walter and your wonderful staff.

We are visiting from Florida and here for a conference and decided to get this place a try and it was amazing! The owner is so awesome and comes around and introduces himself and tells you about the fresh ingredients that are flown in from Italy directly to make their high-quality Neapolitan pizza! We were fortunate enough to be in Italy last summer and this was just like going back! Awesome restaurant with excellent food and a wonderful owner!

A gem! The pizza is consistently delicious with perfectly cooked crust and lots of flavor in every bite. Walter, the owner, is awesome and took great care of us when we came in for happy hour (which was such good value for the delicious food you get). Overall a great spot in Carlsbad!

Highly recommend!! Genuine Napoli oven, happy hour 2-5 M-Th, pulled pork poutine was fabulous!! Pizza was excellent, very very close to our memories of Naples dough and crust. Nice outdoor seating with fire pits. We're not from the area, but saw that they were popular with locals, we will come back, especially for the happy hour pizza prices - worth the commute! Outstanding service!!

We stopped at Del Lusso after a long day of work and we were not disappointed. The food is amazing! Walter (the owner) is great and he will recommend the wine pairing with your meal.

We stumbled across this place while visiting Carlsbad. As a family who has legit lived in Naples, Italy, we were surprised to find authentic Neapolitano pizza here! The owner was super nice and said he imports the ingredients from Italy, which in turn, made for authentic pizza. We are quite picky about places that claim to have authentic pizza, so this was a refreshing find and we could see the real Napoli pizza oven in the window. 10 out of 10 recommend! Will be back!!

A Carlsbad Gem That Only Gets Better With Every Visit Del Lusso has officially become our home away from home; we make it a point to visit every single time we are in the San Diego area. It is a must-visit in Carlsbad for anyone who loves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a chic, modern twist. Whether you are out for a family dinner or a cozy date night, the atmosphere makes you feel like you're dining with family. The Food: Bold, Generous, and Addictive The menu strikes a perfect balance between comfort and vibrant, crafted flavors. The portions are incredibly generous—this is quality dining that doesn't shy away from indulgence. Appetizers: On our first trip, the Roasted Pork Poutine was rich and tender. This time, we tried the Shrimp Appetizer, which was spectacular in its simplicity, bathed in a fragrant sauce of oregano, lemon, and sea salt. The Mains: The Chicken Saltimbocca is a standout, but the pastas are the real stars. The Spaghetti all’Amatriciana (definitely add the meatballs!) and the Fettuccine ai Gamberi Rosso are packed with flavor. The sauces are so addictive we actually used our pizza crusts to sop up every last drop. Pizza: Their Napoletana-style pizza is a hit for all ages. The crust is thin and crispy, and they are not shy with the toppings—the Pepperoni and the Sausage & Mushroom are both highly recommended. The Wine Experience What truly elevates Del Lusso is their phenomenal, curated wine list. These aren't your standard bottles from a big-box store. Since we weren't familiar with many of the labels, the staff incredibly brought out tastes of nearly half the menu to help us decide. It’s a level of service and discovery you rarely find. Final Verdict & Hospitality What truly sets this place apart is the heart behind it. The owner, Walter, is incredibly warm and welcoming; he makes it a point to stop by each guest's table to share a kind word and ensure everything is perfect. Between the clean, inviting ambiance and Walter’s genuine hospitality, you’ll leave not only full but truly satisfied. We already can't wait for our next visit!

Definitely a little slice of Napoli in Carlsbad with a gorgeous pizza oven being the centerpiece of the kitchen! Everything was just like being in Naples- the sauce, the crust, the toppings, and the buffalo mozzarella cheese. This attention to detail really makes a difference! The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. It was obvious that most of the guests were regulars and would continue coming back. I know I will!

Always a 5 star experience! The owner will remember what we ordered and where we sat even many months later which is super impressive. Staff is very friendly and attentive and food is great with imported flour from Italy is doesn’t trigger my auto immune conditions like most Italian.

This was an amazing experience! The owner greeted us at the door and gave us an run down of the menu, he told us all the food is made fresh and the flour they use is from Italy! My mom and I shared a Margarita Pizza and The Chopped Italian salad and both were extremely good! The pizza was tasteful and cooked well, and the salad had fresh ingredients that tasted amazing! The service was amazing it was fast, and friendly!

Delicious authentic Neopolitan pizza. All the food is exceptional, However the real draw is the personal warmth of the owner Walt, his darling wife, and attentive staff (thank you Hannah!). It's the perfect familial neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Solid 4 Stars. Check my other reviews for pizza from pretty much all over where it counts. Rouleur beer on tap! Great service. Setting is open, airy, and quite a nice oasis. Pizza. Sauce excellent. Dough flavor was very good but let’s get to the -1 star. Neapolitan oven was cranking 670 degrees. Too low! Our pizzas could have used another 45 seconds in the oven or cooked at an appropriate temp. Other than that - really good. We will be back.

Great service from owner and staff, nice menu, and good wine list. I only tried the pasta and it was fine but nothing special (very large portion, however). Probably should have tried the pizza, will do so next time.

Owner Walter is very sociable and hospitable when it comes to interacting with his customer. Ambiance is welcoming. Fresh ingredients you could literally eat a three course meal and still walk out the restaurant feeling satisfied instead of being sleepy and bloated. Wife Tricia has very good recognition skills with repeat customer. If your looking for Italian pizza that won't weigh you down Del Lusso Pizza is the one.

Quality ingredients and relaxed location. Pizza bottom had a nice burn to it. Had the Fabri Fibra pizza. Only qualm I might have is the pizza was slightly doughy than I prefer but not sure how you could fix that without burning the pizza itself. Still would try again if in the area. Service was solid as well.

My wife and I shared the spinach and ricotta pizza and the village salad. They were both fine, but we’ll probably try something different next time. That salad is a LOT of peppers, plus onions, olives, capers, and cucumbers. The pizza was good, and certainly not greasy, but we should have had one of their red pizzas. They have indoor seating, and outdoor seating with a large fire pit. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is excellent. Everyone that works there clearly takes great pride in providing top notch service.

This is a great new place! The food is really good, fresh ingredients and very tasty pizzas. The service is excellent! Our waiter was super nice and funny. The owner went to every table introducing himself with every customer. The size portions are reasonable although the prices are on the high side but not at the point that you feel them overpriced. HIGHLY recommend the coconut gelato, it's delicious!

I ordered the meatball sub. It was good, but I would not get it again. My friend had the margarita pizza and was very happy with it. We also got the Nutella desert pizza, it was good.

I'm on the fence with Del Lusso. I appreciated and enjoyed the freshness and the taste of my salciotta pizza. The only downside for me was the crust was burnt and had a very strong charcoal taste in every bite which ruined the experience for me. The service was excellent and that you rarely find.

Service was good but the regular pizza was strange. It hardly had any sauce (and it was supposed to be a red pizza). Toppings were not skimpy but weren't very flavorful. The crust was not bad-chewy (not crunchy). The gluten free crust on the second pizza was pretty good but the pizza had the same issue with the sauce. We didn't try the pasta. We'll probably be looking for a different place for pizza.
