Pecan pancake was delicious. German pancake was excellent. Thank you. Great service. I would tell others to try it.
We came in as a group and our waiter was absolutely hilarious. We had a great time. Thr German pancake was delicious. Unforgettable
Clean restaurant, good food & great coffee ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ordered the avocado toast flight & the silver dollar pancakes. We really liked it & will be back to try other items on the menu.
I was blown away by the deliciousness of the vegan waffle. I had it with the cherry topping and syrup and it was a 100/10. The service was good old fashioned American service with a smile. The waitress was very friendly, kind and helpful and an asset to the restaurant. All in all great restaurant we will be back!
We love this place. They know how to make hash brown right, always crispy outside soft inside. We usually order eggs benedict, omelette, kajafa cherry crepes and german apple pancake. So yummy!
Food was excellent. Omlettes were big and full of the good stuff. Danish harvest was super good. Cherry crepes were perfect, overall the food was worth it. Service was a little slow and the nice breakfast was ruined by an older gentleman watching videos on his phone at full volume, just wish restaurants would shut down obnoxious behavior but what can you do. If we lived nearby we would definitely give it another try.
I fell in love with this place! I’m so happy to discover this restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great. I love the atmosphere too. The prices are similar to most other places. Everything was made just right and i love the coffee. The employees are so welcoming and kind. I definitely will be back again.
Had visited the original one in San Diego about 15 years ago and that memory of amazing pancakes was still there in my mind. While this is not the same place and is much smaller and less busier, they did justice to the food. We were able to find a place without waiting on a Sunday morning. There was free parking at the site. Food was as expected, fresh, hot and large serving size. Everything we ordered lived upto the hype. Baked apple pancake is a must have. Service staff were prompt and friendly. Overall a good dining experience!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast experience at this restaurant. Although there was a brief delay in being acknowledged at the counter, the overall breakfast experience was delightful. The Baked German Apple Pancake was a unique treat, both in terms of taste and presentation, and it was deliciously sweet on its own, eliminating the need for additional syrup. The Ultimate Egg Benedicts offered three variations, each with its own delightful twist. Among them, the one with mushroom, meat, and spinach stood out as particularly delicious and satisfying. Despite the initial delay, the overall service was good.
This is our second Richard Walker’s Pancake House we’ve been to and it is just as amazing as the downtown San Diego location. The coffee is so good we bought a half pound of beans to make at home. Also, our coffee cups never had a chance to be empty… anytime someone walked by with a pot, they stopped and topped us off. Our server was fantastic and the food was superb. We are already planning our next visit. We wish there was one in Orange County!
Delicious spot for breakfast! Offering dine in (we sat outside), waitress was very attentive and friendly. Large selection of breakfast items on the menu, some very unique! I had the Spinach Crepes and they were incredible! Large portions- I could only finish 1 crepe, but I took the 2nd to go! The coffee was good. Prices are a little higher than other places, but I think the quality, quantity and taste of the food was worth the little more you are going to pay. Every bite was worth it! Will be back! Definitely recommend giving them a try!
We visited this place on a Saturday morning. We were already very hungry and we had to wait in a long queue. After 10-15 mins, we got a seat outdoors and luckily they had heaters. Inside the restaurant, space is less and it was pretty crowded. However, food was good. We ordered Waffle platter, spinach crepes and egg scramble. Quantity was sufficient for 2 adults and a kid. Waffle platter : we don’t have much of a sweet tooth, and found the waffle to be very sweet. But it’s nothing to do with the dish, that’s our personal preference. Spinach crepe tasted great with the mouth watering cheese. We personally loved their coffee, thanks to the excellent roasting and brewing of coffee beans. Unfortunately, we didn’t try out their famous granny apple pie, waiting to try it next time. Price is on the higher side, but that is what we will have to pay for a quality food.
First time here, service was quick and tables were clean/well organized. They have an extensive menu with a lot of entrees and interesting pancakes. I highly recommend the German pancake, it is different to what we are used to, but definitely enjoyable. We also ordered fried eggs with sausage and hash browns, which were too ordinary, nothing especial. Not sure if I would come back soon, maybe if I am around the area, but would try something different to explore the menu.
Food was very good. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The decor is a little too cold and stark. Food was a little too much, but at least good. The item is had was the German Pancake with extra butter. Was yummy.
This is a super popular spot for breakfast and a few brunch/lunch items. Limited hours. Dog Friendly Patio. Heated outdoor patio and indoor seating. We have been waiting to try it since we moved to Carlsbad. We went on a Thursday around 11 am. We were seated outside immediately (with my two dogs in a stroller). The menu is large, but since they are known for their German pancakes, we got one to share and decided we also needed bacon and coffee. We got the Pecan German Pancake. It was large enough for 2-3, or perhaps 4 people. It was very good, although it appeared to be a bit overdone (burnt). It also has a ton of cinnamon- so if that's not your vibe, choose differently. The bacon was thick and soft (not crispy). We like it like that, so again, if you want it crispy, you might have to specify. The coffee was 10/10. The service was also very good; friendly & attentive, our coffee stayed full. The scene isn't much to look at. It is in a shopping plaza.
First, the food is great. The service is the part that is lacking. I’ve ordered twice now for pickup, and upon arrival, you don’t get treated very well by the staff. Nobody acknowledges you, so I had to flag someone down. They tell you to wait off to the side, which is fine, but then the same person who claims to “help” you decides to continue to ignore you. I had to ask a second person after another 5-8 minutes of waiting. My food had already been ready, and was a little cold when I got home 5 minutes away. I reheated it, so it was still pretty good. Just not happy with the grumpy faces and lack of service is all. 2X
My wife and I were here a week and half ago (10th Oct 2025) and found the service exceptional. However, the food and the atmosphere did not live up to the hype I've read about this restaurant. It doesn't even compare to the "Original Pancake House" in Encinitas when it comes to pancakes. In fact I would have expected it to be better than Broken Yoke Cafe in San Marcos. As for the rest of my breakfast which included a ham ... well it was just a cut from some slab of ham and not cooked/prepared in any special way. My wife's reaction was it was okay. Same with my granddaughter. We sat outside and there were just too many dogs. It would have been nice to be warned by the staff so we could have chosen to sit inside.
I’m not one to complain. But for a 20$ omelet I expect it to at least be not burnt/overcooked. This is the worst omelet I’ve ever had in my life. The hashbrowns were ones I could have gotten at IHOP. My water glass was never refilled and empty for the majority of the meal. Will not be returning. Save your money go to IHOP. Better service.
Maybe partially my problem for not looking at the prices before ordering. However, with tax and tip it cost me $50 for two sides of bacon, one side of hashbrowns and a side of fruit. For this price, I would’ve expected the food to be spectacular. This location was inland, and there are good places right on the ocean where you can get the same food for half the price.
