I have been to this location many times as my family is from San Diego, but I have also been to other Bob’s locations in other states and cities, and can say this Carlsbad location is as good if not better than those. I would say it’s one of my favorite steakhouses in San Diego because it is always consistently a high quality, perfectly cooked steak. It’s located in the Omni La Costa resort and parking is fairly easy, you can do self parking or you can do valet right out front. The restaurant validates as well. Inside is quite large. They have a lot of different seating options from booths, to tables, to I’m sure private rooms. It was quite busy when we arrived, but was not overly loud. Our server was very polite and entertaining, and all of our dishes came out very fast. The meal will start with their signature pickles and red pepper in vinegar in a glass jar, which is always a great start to the meal for me. Their steaks also come with a glazed carrot, which always reminds me that I don’t eat enough carrots until Bob’s gives it to me as a side. I started off my meal with the Beef Steak Tomatoes & Red Onion and thought it was a great dish and appetizer. The tomatoes were refresh, the crumbled blue cheese was a great addition, and the onions added a great flavor. For my entrée, I chose the 12 ounce Filet Mignon and thought it was fantastic. It was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bit. I ate at Born and Raised a few days before this and thought Bob’s steak was much better. I would highly recommend to anyone in San Diego and plan to be back many times in the future.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable steakhouse experience, Bob’s Chophouse in La Costa is the place to go. The steak? Absolutely phenomenal—easily the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. And let’s talk about that carrot—oh my God, incredible. It tastes like Thanksgiving in the best way possible, rich and perfectly seasoned. If you somehow still have room, the dessert is completely over the top and worth every bite. On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding. Nikki was hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had—attentive, knowledgeable, and truly made the experience top-notch. Overall, Bob’s Chophouse isn’t just a 5-star spot—it’s a 10 out of 5. If you’re in La Costa and love a great steak, this place is a must-visit.

Walking up to Bob's was like walking into a movie. During the holiday season it's very picturesque and the atmosphere was awesome. Greeted at the door with smiles and cheer, the restaurant itself has an old world feel to it. The staff were great, they seemed genuinely happy to be there. The food was what you would expect from a place such as Bob's. Well prepared, presents nicely, not flashy and delicious. My filet was perfectly pink and the glazed whole carrot was delicious as were the mashed potatoes. It can be tricky getting to the restaurant and parking is limited unless you want to walk a bit. Highly recommend the valet and get your ticket checked at the restaurant.

Wonderful dinner at Bob’s steak & chop house! Located in the Omni La Costa Resort and is definitely top notch. Our server was amazing and made great recommendations for items on the menu. They are known for their steaks but the seafood was delicious as well! If you are looking for a new steak house try this place out!

Thankful for Bob’s this Thanksgiving! We were a party of 8 for Thanksgiving dinner. Service was excellent and food is consistently good. We love the pickles on the table and warm bread. Steaks are cooked to perfection and come with a side dish. Seafood plates however do not come with a side. We are thinking about coming back for Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving from Bob’s!

Dined by myself at the bar. Cherry and Nicci are amazing. Had the Carpaccio and the oysters (they don’t always have oysters but it was a special and they were great). Also enjoyed a really good Paloma. Got the bread pudding for dessert and my only complaint is I got too much food - shouldn’t have had all that ice cream. Lol. Great service. Great vibe. Would highly recommend.

Very good meal. We shared the scallop and crab cake appetizers. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the bacon pieces were scrumptious. Hubby had the 16 oz filet and it was cooked very well (med rare). My ribeye was delicious, tender and juicy. Shockingly, the carrot was delicious. The restaurant is decorated with pictures from the 1940-1960 eras. Service is efficient and very good. The wait staff is not social, they are polite. One manager was delivering food and doing table touches. The bar area was bustling and jovial. Might be fun to eat in there. I will return to Bobs!!

The most tender well seasoned Filet Mignon I can remember. So fabulous I was sorry I ordered it Oscar. Crab cakes were rich and flavorful. Baked potato was super sized served with a side of sour cream, bacon, scallion and cheddar. Brussels sprouts ordered well done and served well seasoned and moist. 1/2 Bottle of Stags Leap Cabernet if so inclined or order from a well stocked wine list.

Our first fine dining experience since COVID started! Four of us dined on the beautiful outdoor patio located in the Omni resort. The food was incredible. Good sized portions, seasoned and prepared to perfection. The service was great...The staff is friendly and attentive. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and never felt like we overstayed our welcome. Seating is still comfortably distanced. Dining hours are limited and reservations are required.

Okay besides the pushy and annoying waiter and tasteless bread, the cuts and sides are on point! (Well, besides the supposedly "wagyu" tomahawk, that I asked to look at before ordering and didn't really have much marbling at all). I picked up the 16oz Filet and it was spot on medium rare. Im not sure if I'll return to LA Costa to stay because it was kind of a dump, but Ill definitely be back to this place. Cheers!

Staff was excellent. Steak was excellent. Portions were big. Possibly even too big. Oh, wanted to add - place looked closed as I walked up - but I suppose a big neon 'open' sign wouldn't really jive with the mood/decor. So if their posted hours say they're open, but they look closed, try the door anyway. Glad I did.

Had the best time at Bob's Steak & chop. Was celebrating with my roommate. Had an amazing meal. I also asked if the staff could do a couple things for me which they did. My roommate was thrilled and enjoyed the experience even more. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I came to the Omni La Costa for a conference in March. My wife and I came to have dinner. We had the calamari for appetizer. I had a Tomahawk Medium rare. My wife had the salmon. Both were cooked to our liking. Sides were Brussels sprouts and asparagus. Everything about the food was amazing and delicious. Great atmosphere. Friendly host, waiter and manager. Will definitely return on our next trip to The Omni La Costa. Below see a picture of the Tomahawk steak.

We brought our family here to celebrate my daughter’s engagement. Top notch service and food was excellent. We all ordered steaks and they were all cooked perfectly, seasoning was on point as well. They took great care of us and went above and beyond to see that engaged couple felt special. We sat on the upper deck patio and got to enjoy a great band !

This was absolutely one of the best steak dinners we’ve had in a long time (and we tend to go out quite often). All 4 of us agreed. Perfect crust, flavor, and doneness. All the sides were great too. Waiter Robert was awesome- and entertaining! If we ever end up back in San Diego we’ll be eating here again! By the way- the valet service was top notch as well. Very friendly, expedient, and helpful.

Great service! We had a party of 4, sat outside on the patio where the atmosphere was wonderful with outdoor heaters and a roaring fire. Fernando was our waiter and what a great guy! He literally made our experience so enjoyable! The food was amazing & the cocktails were tasty. Honestly, Fernando was a big part of making our evening one to remember. The past few years have been a challenge as having good service anywhere you go seems to be a thing of the past. Thank you Fernando for being you and making our night out a little more enjoyable with your positive spirit! We would definitely recommend Bob's Steak & Chophouse just make sure you ask for Fernando aka "Bruce" =)

The food is out of this world. Filet Mignon like I've never had in my life. Super romantic place. Service is phenomenal. I recommend making reservations although not needed for smaller groups. Dress code is semi- dressy or business casual, or dress to the nines if the mood strikes. Highly recommend for date night or special occasions!!

We worked with Valerie for months planning our annual corporate Christmas party at Bob's. She was very helpful and accommodating. Our event was perfect! The food was delicious even with having to serve 26 people all at once! Very impressive. In addition, the service was impeccable. Top notch! Also, the resort and restaurant were decorated beautifully for the holidays. A BIG THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF THAT HELPED MAKE OUR EVENT PERFECT!

10/10 experience! Amazing food, ambiance, music. Service was great too thanks to Aiden. Ordered scampi, tuna, and 45 day aged porterhouse. Don’t skip on the bread pudding, it’s to die for!

Service got off to a rocky start- one of the younger hostesses was extremely rude and short with us. It was so bad we would have left if it wasn’t for the fact that a large group of my clients and team were eating in one of their other areas. With that said- our waiter was great, and the bartenders amazing. The food was all excellent. We tried 11 dishes over two days and none disappointed. The wine list is decent and there are definitely a couple of really decent bottles for a good price. Highly recommend checking them out. If you’re staying at the resort it’s a no brainer.

We celebrated New Year's Eve at this charming steakhouse located in a chic and beautifully designed hotel, and the experience was a mix of highs and a slight miss. Opting for outdoor seating was a fantastic choice—it was magical dining beside a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, with the festive ambiance adding to the evening's charm. The staff were wonderful—friendly, attentive, and quick to accommodate any requests. Their warmth definitely enhanced the overall experience. Food-wise, the clam chowder was the star of the meal—creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. It’s definitely something we’d come back for. However, the steak, unfortunately, didn’t live up to the same standard. It wasn’t bad, but it lacked the “wow” factor you’d expect from a steakhouse. In the end, the stunning atmosphere and excellent service made it a memorable evening, even if the steak fell short of expectations. A great spot for a special occasion, especially if you're looking to soak in the festive vibes.

Nice steakhouse with a typical menu. Enjoyed the steak with creamed spinach, infamous glazed carrot and smashed potatoes. Chopped tomato and mozzarella salad was ok, crab cake was good but a bit on the bland side. Onion rings also lacked flavour, it seems that some items missed seasoning (mainly salt?). Cocktails were good - Manhattan and pom Kentucky mule. Service was a bit slow and inattentive.

Hostess offered a warm welcome and had our table ready on the patio where we requested to be near the band. They were our main reason for coming here, noted by 5-6 other tables as well. Antonio our server was polite, although not as attentive or anticipatory of needs/progression of the dining experience. He was offended we didn’t order a main entree, perhaps that is what altered the experience for us. We just weren’t that hungry, or interested in a huge meal. The smallest steak is 9 oz., and the sea bass filet he said was also similarly a large portion, so we opted for the 3 scallop appetizer. We also ordered a bottle of wine, a cocktail, two wedge salads, along with the scallop appetizer. The bread was surprisingly delicious, crispy crust yet ultra soft and fluffy inside. The scallops were decent, but we couldn’t finish. They were tender and very rich, accompanied with a lemon buerre blanc sauce. The wedge salads were a nice portion with plenty of bacon, blue cheese, and a beefsteak tomato cut in half. I ordered a bottle of Chardonnay knowing I’d cork the bottle after a glass and a half, and take the rest home. My friend had a classic mule. We were mindful not to take the table up, but had to wait a long time to get our plates cleared, water refilled, and flag him down for the check and a bag for the wine. We moved down to the lower tables and had much better receptivity. We thoroughly enjoyed the band playing…The Swinging Johnsons. We came specifically for them. I personally wouldnt come back if it wasn’t for the band. Next time they play here, we will skip the upper tables and just have a drink and appetizer at the tables by the band. Service was better and the experience too.

Good steak, but wasn’t wowed with much else than the company and ambiance. Service was courteous and welcoming. Noise level was good even though it was packed by the time we left the restaurant. Highly recommend making reservations.

My partner and I went to Bob's to celebrate his birthday and brought our dog with us. We sat on the patio next to the fireplace and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Antonio was our server and his service was 11/10. He was enthusiastic, friendly, and genuinely excited to meet our dog and make sure all 3 of us had an enjoyable experience. He even made sure that our dog got 2 of their giant carrots brought out with dinner on their own plate. The part that was disappointing was our meal itself. Our bill came out to over $450 for 2 people and our steaks weren't cooked correctly, anything that had a sauce was so overpowered by it that you couldn't taste the actual food item, and the overall flavors of everything else were just boring and unimaginative. We've dined at many high end steak houses, ordered items of a similar caliber, and paid significantly less for meals that make my mouth water just thinking about them. If I'm paying top dollar for a meal, I expect to go home and dream about it and want to go back on a weekly basis. I can say with absolute certainty that we will not be back to Bob's.

Made a reservation for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. In the notes, I stated outdoor seating, weather permitting. It was 57 degrees and windy and damp. Not what I would consider weather permitting. We were told that we would have to wait at least an 1.5 hours to be seated if we didn't want to sit outside. I told them (the 3 females at the host stand), I stated weather permitting in the notes. They said every indoor table would be full as the dinner rush reservations were about to start pouring in. The manager asked us if we were checked in and okay and I said no, and he just walked away. Didn't acknowledge the complaint. My husband really was looking forward to a steak and wanted to eat there so he asked if we could sit at the bar and eat. The answer was yes, but that was never even suggested or offered as an option. So with great attitude, we were walked over to the bar, and luckily a high top was opening up so we sat there.. At this point, with the attitude and the ridiculousness of thinking that dining outside was going to be pleasant, I was not really wanting to stay. However, our server, Nicole, was a saving grace. Pleasant and friendly. Not anything like the 3 females at the host stand. Food was good, but extremely expensive. Not exceptional. Not the experience we were hoping for. We are locals and probably would not return after this experience. Unfortunate.

My husband and I were celebrating our 17 year anniversary in San Diego and drove in from Phoenix that day. We were looking for a good steak and this popped up on google. We went to check it out. The hostess was absolutely horrible. She looked us up and down like we didn't belong there. She sat us at a tiny little table that was uneven and spilling drinks everywhere. The waiter came to give us his recommendations and I asked for a different table as we were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to sit closer together. Mind you there were plenty of open tables. The waiter finally moved us and the hostess rolled her eyes at us. There was no way we were leaving as she obviously thought we couldn't afford to eat there. We ended up dropping $300 on dinner and the food was well worth it but we will never go back there and wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't dressed like they are rolling in money.

Took party of six for dinner last night - celebration of wife's birthday. Seated promptly at time of reservation - 6:30pm. Ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees at same time. Warm bread was delicious. Within half hour had drinks and 3 of 4 appetizers delivered. About 15minute delay for last 2 appetizers to be delivered - after I complained to our waiter.. We became very concerned over the delay in being served our entrees. Half of my party reached a point of no longer feeling hungry and suggesting we leave. No update from our server on when our dinners were to be expected. Entrees received at 8pm ! This was 90 minutes after being seated - and, again we ordered entrees promptly, not after eating appetizers. On positive side, the food tasted good and steaks were cooked as ordered. Overall the spotty service and delay in being served the entrees was a major annoyance for a special occasion. The value was definitely not there.

Everything was fantastic excluding the most important part of the Meal. The promoted USDA certified prime beef. Was incredibly tough and certainly not well marbled. Nowhere near worth $70. I think it must be all about Bob over there not to beef.

The service was pretty good...Daniel kept checking on us....but when I told him it's my husband's birthday....he just asked me if I wanted a dessert menu....so no complimentary dessert was brought. We had the scallops and they smelled really bad...we tasted and they tasted horrible. The atmosphere wasn't at all what I expected. Noisey and very crowded. No music ....just piled into a dull room with alot of other peeps. The one bright thing was there blue cheese salad! Very good...

I have stayed at La costa resort quite a few times in the last few decades . This was our first time trying Bobs steakhouse. Let me start our first with the waiter Antonio - he first started out ok then his service went down pretty fast . The exceptional service we received were from Juan and Jake . They truly are an exception to service. They were professional , polite and attentive. They deserve a raise or to be promoted. I would only go back to try it again if I could have them be our servers. With regards to the service - we ordered filet mignons and I asked for mine pink and it came dry salty and potatoes were cold. My partner ordered a well done filet mignon and the outside was burn and crunchy and salty and 2/3 was raw from the inside. We opted not to complain because of Antonio’s attitude with us. We also asked about a few things first wine suggestions and of coarse he recommends one of the most priciest of the Italian wines and for us it’s quality not cost. After we didn’t order his recommendation his service went downhill. We will not be back for a long time, Fleming’s and Ruth Chris and specialty steakhouse for us have been pretty consistent but this one on a scale of 1-10 I would say a 4 and the 4 would go for the exceptional service we received from the two young men

Bobs steak house We made reservations early in the week for a Friday dinner at the La Costa Bob’s Steak House. It was an early 6:15 reservation. When we arrived we were seated at a small table in the back corner of the bar. We asked to be moved to the main restaurant and were told that they were “too busy to sit us in the restaurant “. We had a bottle of wine and ordered our dinner around 6:40. While we waited, the bar got busier and much, much louder. It was so noisy that my husband and I could not have a conversation without yelling at each other. For the next hour we sat in the corner and waited for dinner in the noisy bar. We finally asked the server to check on our dinner and were told that our order got stuck behind the larger parties in the main dining room. The food was fine, but the evening was ruined by having to sit in a loud noisy bar and wait an hour for our food. Don’t go to Bob’s if you want a nice quiet dinner.

The food was delicious on my wedding anniversary, but I got severe food poisoning from the scallops and it took me days to recover. I understand things happen, but when I called the next day, I hoped for a refund at the very least. Instead, they forwarded my request to the resort's security department, which felt like a black hole. After dozens of emails, broken promises, and unreturned calls, I can’t recommend a pricey restaurant that fails to take care of its customers when something goes wrong. At the very least, avoid the scallops.

Decided to try something new for my birthday. Had a reservation for the patio at 6:45, they sat me in the bar after 7. I ordered the 16oz filet (dont offer what you cant cook) the edges were burnt and dry and the middle was raw. My waitress was nowhere to be found to tell about my problem. I would have loved to try dessert but I had nobody to ask. I gave my steak 2 stars because when I microwaved it for leftovers it was really good. Do not go here unless you have a meeting you need to ruin.

My beautiful friend made reservations for my birthday. We had never been to Bob’s and it was a special surprise for me and my friend was so happy to be able to take me there. When she mad the reservation she let them know it was a special birthday celebration and they even said to us when we were seated “ Is this a birthday celebration.” We were ignored for the whole time there and had to get their attention the whole evening. They would just literally walk by us. We were two person party and how easy would it have been to check on us. I had to go up to the host and let him know that we were being ignored. Still it took a while before the hostess came over and checked on us. There was no verbal apology and in the end the waiter made a point to let us know that the two last drinks were on him and the hostess, still no apology. It was almost said in a “ just want you guys to know that the drinks is coming out of their pockets.” The table next to us got a birthday cake but no one even said anything or asked if we wanted dessert. The only redeeming part of the evening was the bus boy Jose. He spoke to us in the end and was the only one who apologized and he shouldn’t have been the one to take the brunt of our grief. I will never go back and we are thoroughly disappointed. A special dinner turned into disappointment for sure. Thumbs down.

Prime rib was tough and flavorless. Filet was overcooked. Salads were Pathetic - they looked like a child made them. The service was horrible. Waiter delivered food and then disappeared. Worst restaurant experience I've had in many months.

I chose Bobs Steak and Chop House Carlsbad to celebrate my birthday this restaurant has a great. atmosphere and good vibes The food options were very limited and food is quality wasn’t necessarily the best. For the price of the food and atmosphere. I had high expectations for this restaurant. Antonio G was my server he was friendly at first abut proved absolutely the worst service possible.
