The monster burritos here are incredible - also, try adding the jalapeno queso to any burrito, it's great. Plus, their red sauce here is perfect, so many restaurants like this fail on the sauce, these guys nail it 👍
I was surprised 😮 at the size of the burrito I ordered. The 619 to be exact. Flavorful Carne asada with delicious grilled chicken. 2 meats in 1 the best. #noturaverageburrito I was pleased for being a 6ft6 giant.
Absolutely delish!! The nachos were such a large amount that my husband and I shared and barely finished!! We will definitely be going back. Customer service was great!
Stayed in the area for a little Super Bowl Staycation and found this place on Google maps. I'm always willing to try new Mexican restaurants. I ordered the Monster Nachos Asada half order and one shredded beef and one cheese enchilada!! The Nachos were edible as a whole but the asada had great flavor and the guacamole was delicious. The chips used were not that good. Now the enchiladas were very close to authentic. The enchilada sauce wasn't that red canned diluted BS you get at other Mexican spots!! My tastebuds ❤ their enchiladas!!!! Going to go back and try other items on their menu 😁
At a time where most Taco Shops are over priced and the portions are smaller each time, this place is consistent. The menu is unique and the salsas are very tasty. I seriously drive out of the way to eat here.
I so love this place. Always very clean to include the restroom. Very good food at reasonable prices and they are open until 10PM. Woke up from a late nap and thought that I might have missed out on a Primos Cinco de Mayo dinner, but luckily there was still time to get over there, get some Monster Burritos, and some rolled tacos. (tried to eat there and got filled up right away so the wife and I bought some to take home for other family members that are working late tonight).
First time I got a burrito at Primos and I was not disappointed. The "human sized" 619 burrito was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try a few more of their classic burrito creations with a twist.
Great place to eat! I went here with my dad and it was Delicious, I ordered the “Flami’n Hot Burrito” which was a burrito with hot Cheetos in it, I thought it was gonna be spicy, but it wasn’t at all maybe just cuz I’m Mexican it runs in the genes. Besides that, it is a GREAT PLACE to eat and would recommend it to others!
Close to our work so we live eating lunch here. We stumbled on our first Primos at a gas station, by the Qualcomm buildings and have loved frequenting their other locations. The Escondido location has a margaritas bar!
I don't understand how this place makes money. Not only is the food excellent, their daily deals provide extraordinary value. Where else can you find 4 tacos with chips and salsa for $4 and actually enjoy it? I'm impressed.
Every morning before work I stop here for breakfast or lunch and the cashier is always making sure we get all we need Great service specially in the morning the cashier is always really helpful and with a great positive attitude Definitely recommend going here
Please update your prices online. We obliviously understand everything is more expensive. It is a little discouraging when you find out the monster burritos cost almost and some as twice as much as advertised on the pictures in google. They are old and I would recommend you update them.
Delicious!! We always get burritos here. They're the best! The lady up front was very nice and being that she was working on her oen (cook was in the back) she handled all of it so amazing! I was so impressed. Everyone wore their face masks correct, there was hand sanatizer available. Gloves were worn by staff. I felt very comfortable going in and ordering a to go order. Thank y'all so much. Will be back.
One of the best surf and turf taco salad you will ever have.
Surf & Turf top notch burrito in Carlsbad.
Excellent food but gets very busy during lunch hour,12-1. For good reason too: the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and in generous portions. The parking lot may get crowded and fill quickly but that's not the restaurants fault. Salsa bar is great too, habanero can be very hot sometimes.
It was pretty good food, I don't exactly remember what I got because they have such a large selection. The food was good. Nothing to unique about the staff there just doing thier job. Good place good food. Thanks
Always come here when in Carlsbad. Street tacos are as good as it gets. Salsas are very hot with great flavor. Staff is always nice.
Consistent quality! My go to for bean n cheese burritos, I add guac. It’s delicious. Not super pricey, not super cheap either. But good!
My friend and I stopped by from the skatepark, we were happy to see $4 for 4 tacos on the particular day we went! I ordered a $4 potato hand held burrito. The simplicity of it satisfied me, very good flavor, but if you need anything extra, they have a courtesy chip bar w 6 different types of salsas. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and spice-y horchata which was very good.
Great Mexican food! I got the monster burrito, i forgot the specific name, but it came with carne asada, French fries, hot Cheetos, and shredded cheese. The carne asada was tender, juicy... just perfect! Red salsa is good, not too spicy, and bonus: they have habanero salsa!! It tastes good and has a nice kick.
Great Food at Great Prices. I loved their Monster burrito and salsas. Very inexpensive. We were a group of 5 including kids and had a good time. Coming from area code 915.
I've been here a couple times and it was delicious everytime. Their monster burritos are really big. Love the habanero salsa. It's very busy during lunch time so watch out.
I swear I've reviewed this place a dozen times, I don't know why it keeps disappearing, but I'm going to keep re-reviewing it because I want people to know how awesome this place is. I live in Seattle now, but every time I visit, this is one of the places U miss that's on my "must list." My favorite is the shredded beef taquitoes. Give them a try.
Amazing food! Every time my wife and I go eat here the food is always consistently good. Their monster burrito is by far the biggest burrito I’ve ever had
Ok, so I am making an update to a previous review from about a year ago. These guys have stepped up their game. The food is so much better, service has improved by leaps and bounds, and I have tried other dishes they have. I'm not sure what happened, but keep it going. Just be aware they are busy at lunch. Plan accordingly.
Got a breakfast burrito here in Carlsbad. It was delicious and the sauce bar was plentiful. It was what you would expect, very large and worth the money.
Monster burrito was massive food tasted good shake was amazing salsa bar is great with complimentary tortilla chips
They have an assortment of burritos to choose from, I first got the spicy chicken it was amazing and as big as my forearm, I also had to try their bean and cheese burrito it didn't disappoint either. The real standout at this place, though, is the orange/yellowish colored salsa. I believe it may be some sort of habenero. This stuff is amazing, I wanted to put that in almost every bite.
The monster burritos are epic!!! My goal is to try all of the different types of monster burritos. So many options for all your different likes. Give it a try highly recommend it. A co-worker check it out for the first time and he said it definitely worth the extra couple of miles from or local Mexican food spot.
Wow the monster burrito is huge. If you come on Monday’s they are super cheap either get the Cali or the cali surf. The steak is super tasty. This place has very friendly staff and great service.
I've been going to Los Primos in Catlsbad, Ca for the past several years. They have really good Cali and steak & eggs burritos. I asked to have my Cali burrito cut in half so I could have the other half for breakfast. They actually wrapped it up separately for me. Great customer service!!!

Food was great, I got the tres amigos jr burrito but it didn't come with fries :( it was still good though but wish there was a way to report it through door dash.

Passing by this town originally we are from Bakersfield glad we found this spot definitely recommend it will come back if we are around in this town
Wow!! First time here and the food and service is fantastic. Tacos are very good and they have a great salsa selection to choose.
The food tastes freakin good. I went to Los Tacos, nasty compared to Los Primos. I had a burrito from Vallartas Express, cold and nasty compared to Los Primos. Those food is good, hot and flavorful. I eat here about 3 days a week.
We just recently rediscovered Primos. It is amazing. I thoroughly recommend it. We have enjoyed every we've eaten there. The carnitas is moist and flavorful. The refried beans have a great savory almost smokey taste. The pazole made us feel like we were back in Mexico. And the salsas... so good. Especially the green one. They have spicy carrots and chips available. Large portions. Even a monster burrito that is huge. Daily specials. And don't forget the churros. They are almost as good as the ones at Disneyland. (No one can beat those though, because you can only get them in Disneyland 🙂) I go to primos as often as I can.
Primo's is the best Mexican food around! I'm so glad there's an authentic and delicious little spot so close to my office. Josefina was very kind and helped me choose my order, which were the "Surf and Turf" tacos and the steak and eggs breakfast burrito. Both were excellent!

Good burritos and if you are really hungry (or want to share) you can get them in monster size. They also have a descent taco salad. The place is tiny though...
I get take-out from here at least once a week on my way home from work and am hooked on the Chile Verde dinner with rice, beans, and flour tortilla. The meat is always tender with no fat or gristle, and the sauce very tasty. Their hot sauce bar is also really good. The service is very friendly and they do a good job of keeping it clean. My office recently moved to San Marcos near the Mexican Viejo restaurant on Melrose, so out of convenience I tried that the other night. What a mistake. I now add a couple of miles to my commute just so I can keep going to Los Primos.
For what it is, this place is perfect. This place is cheap and the food is decent for the price you pay. I'm a big fan of the California breakfast burrito, but a lot of their other foods are great too! Chips are free!
I goto Los Primos specifically for the "Cali Surf" burrito. Burritos are big and delicious. My boys like the Cheetos Burrito. Good daily deals although I've personally only had the one item. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
GREAT FOOD!!! AWESOME PRICES!!! I LOVE THE ATMOSPHERE!!! BUT WAY TOO SMALL. CROWDED DURING LUNCH TIME. There's not even enough space to get your salsa and chips and fountain drink because ppl are in the way in line to oder. Really small spot, awesome food.
The food from Los Primos was alright, but not really mind blowing. I got door dash delivery, for full disclosure. I got a taco salad, which was pretty fun and tasty. Their street tacos just fell apart, or got so soggy it wasn’t really a taco anymore. So all the tacos had to be eaten by fork. They do have a nice selection. But there are probably some better Mexican restaurants in the area.
A friend and I went for our lunch break once before as well as today. (She had been there before) Both times were delicious!!! I'm the kind of person that NEVER gets the same thing twice and both times I was in a food coma by the time I was done. (Which made it really difficult to go back to work🤣) the food was hot and fresh, the cashiers were attentive, and we will definitely return. Parking during the lunch rush can be a little hectic, but we easily found a spot and walked right on in. It was a little hot inside the restaurant, but nothing unbearable. Those are my only two "downsides" and note that it has nothing to do with the food. Food is 20/10!! A+++++
The lunch line can be pretty long sometimes. Around dinner time this place almost seems dead. The menu can be a little difficult to read, so you may end up with a monster burrito without meaning to order it. I love the red salsa, carnitas burrito and street tacos. The California burrito is sometimes great and sometimes not because sometimes the fries are nice and crispy and sometimes they are just mush. I still like the place though.
On Monday the all the monster size burritos are $3 off. Had the monster 619 Burrito... Big enough for two. Tasty, especially the tortilla which was fresh and chewy. The beef/chicken filling was good also. Wasn't very spicy though - mild to medium.
The first thing I am impressed with is the cleanliness. I enjoy walking into a restaurant that the effort have been put in to make it clean. The standout was the tables, yes they were all clean, the arrangement directed the customers to go to the order desk without them ever knowing it. The decor is nice and the person taking order at the counter was helpful, courteous and friendly. Now for the food. The menu is considerable for a fast food Mexican restaurant. I had a basic quesadilla with shrimp. The shrimp were tender and flavorful but the cheese did not have the kick I was looking for. But that is a personal preference. The salsa's (red and green) are a little to spicy for me but again it is a personal preference. Pricing for a shrimp quesadilla and medium drink was $15.00. Will go back to Los Primo's, absolutely.
Mixed bag. The tacos and quesadilla were a big hit. We also appreciated the free chips and salsa choices. We didn’t like the enchilada, sauce was too salty and the chicken was dry.
A solid choice for pretty authentic fast Mexican food. Not quite there in consistency with tacos, which are fixed one way one week will be slightly different the next week. Good food nonetheless. Service and ambience are typical fast food. Love the free chips and salsa.
This place has the best horchata I have ever had. We love the 619 monster breakfast burritos. The flavor and the portion size is top notch. The only thing I would want them to improve is the amount of cheese and mayonnaise they put inside the flaming street corn bowls(esquites). I attached a picture of what the esquites look like.
On this cool wet summer evening, abondigas soup $9.75 is exactly what I need since i wasn't that hungry. It came with rice and choice of tortillas, chopped onions& cilantro. 5 good sized Mexican meatballs that have rice inside as fillers. Slightly citrusy which is what I like. Salsa habanero is super hot, so use judiciously. Decent service.

Amazing food, I ate a burrito the size of a full pork loin. Only complaints are the paper it was sitting on started to disintegrate from the sauce and plastic knife was not sturdy enough to cut through the monster burrito

Great food but they charge you $3.50 for 1 ounce of carnitas beef in a bean & cheese burrito. $3.50 x 16 = $56 a pound for the beef at a Mexican restaurant. Insane!!!
Definitly not the greatest. it was packed which I figured hey must be good! then I spent over $4 on a cheese quesadilla which was rolled up like a burrito and the cheese wasn't even melted all the way and $3 for a huge side of beans (I just wanted a small side of beans and this was way over the top.) just wasn't worth the price that I paid. will not be returning again.
Service was great and staff very nice. We ordered carne asada tacos and a shrimp burrito. Unfortunately the food was very bland with little flavor and the hard chicken taco was very dry. Maybe the cook was having an off day?
Monster burrito's are very large. I don't recommend the spicy cheeto burrito. The Cheetos get all soggy and make the burrito look pink and nasty. Service was good, not too bad of a wait and they have free tortilla chips while you wait.
The only reason they're so busy is because of they're prime location and pretty solid marketing on their signs outside. Their food is just so-so (the monster nachos are pretty bad actually... Nothing like the good carne asada chips you can get at a real Mexican food place). I think I would pick just about any other Mexican food place over them (Mr. Taco, Mexico Viejo, Alberto's, etc). Also, they're overpriced due to the prime location... except for the 4 for $4 street tacos on Wednesdays. And in all fairness, they might have other happy hour type deals, but they're just not advertised anywhere. They're menu inside doesn't have everything listed, which is kind of a pain too...
So so Mexican fast-food place. Gone downhill in the last few years. They now appear to focus on burritos but are overpriced for what you get. Valerie's Taco Shop not very far from this place has better options w/better prices. Food quality-taste is same if not better at Valerie's IMO.
The monster burritos are designed for two people with normal appetites or one very hungry construction worker. Huge flour tortilla encased the beans and steak bits with what I think was a tostito in the center. Hot sauce was available for purchase. Pepsi products at the fountain. My sister thinks it's a wonderful place to eat. I don't need to go back, thanks.
Not a fan. People are nice enough and they have a decent salsa selection, BUT their menu is pretty much mortgage busting burritos. Even if you don't pay over $16.00 for the Monster Size,.you still pay nearly $10 for human size. Not for me.
The 619 was nothing like when I first had one before. It was very small for the price that we paid for the biggest 619. I was very disappointed and will not be returning to Los Primos. I gave it high praise to my brother who bought lunch for the both of us. It cost I believe $32.00 or $34.00 dollars for 2 of the Big 619 and it was not worth it at all. Even when I brought it home for my son and I to eat he said that it was small. Where did I get this burrito from? I said Los Primos and he laughed. I do not recommend going here unless you know somebody so that they can do you right because we were wronged today. They're lucky to get the 3 stars that I gave them.
Not bad but I prefer the San Diego College area location. This one had higher prices and I didn't see half-orders of the fries or nachos. I ordered Chipotle Bacon Fries and it could have used more of the Chipotle cream sauce.
I ordered carne asada fries (for some reason they call it steak fries). They included all the ingredients but added a ton of beans. They should take a hint from Lolitas. I added one star for the portion size - enough for 3 people at $12
I ordered 4 rolled tacos. when I received them, I got a lot of guacamole just smothered on my tacos. A little bit of yellow cheese, where's the lettuce sourcream and salsa fresca Service was great toobad for the food.
To be really honest, theres nothing special about this place, specially not the service, I've eaten here many times along with my husband and the food has nothing to set itself apart from other Mexican food style quick eats besides a really big burrito.. now I chose to finally leave a review based off my costumer service relations my last visit... I paid for 2 meals up front, asked them for 1 to eat there and asked for the other to be made about 20 mins later so its fresh to go, was told that wouldn't be a problem and sat to wait with my 2yr old, I get both meals the same time and when I pointed out the error and re-explained why I ordered the way I did I was told it was already made and then just starred at for a min before the server walked away without ever offering to correct or fix the issue. I chose not to cause a scene and have them remake it as I had my 2yr old with me and I frequent the facility and i didn't want any future issues if we chose to return (tho the review isn't helping that part I'm sure)
This is for the Carlsbad Los Primos. Went there to pick up lunch for the family on Sunday afternoon MLK weekend. Spent close to $70 for burritos shrimp tacos and carne asada fries. Picked them up and brought them home. My burrito was so-so. Not warm at all. I actually didn’t finish it. The other burrito was the same. And also not finished. The shrimp tacos and carne asada fries were eaten up. Don’t know what is going on. I did see they are looking for cooks. Kojitas is open near me now so I think I’ll spend my money there.
If I wanted a tomato burrito I would have ordered a tomato burrito. Seriously, I ordered a carne asada burrito and for the premium price of their "monster" steak burrito it had maybe 3 ounces of meat and more tomato than meat, which made the guacamole a watery mess. The flavor of the meat was fine, but overall a very disappointing experience. Stick with an X-burtos you won't regret it.
Monster breakfast burrito, was a mobster waste of money. Ain't nothing monster about it I've seen bigger burritos at taco bell then these .just call them breakfast burritos erase the monster part it's false advertising especially with what you charge for them you should be ashamed of yourselves
Just purchased the classic nachos with adobada and man the portion size was very disappointing given I paid $20 with tip. And the container it was served in was also partitioned into three sections so that took up space but the biggest let down was the amount of meat there was barely enough for a medium sized taco. Overall, I give them a D.
I am usually a fan of the food here at Primos and I had heard the the chilaquiles were good. So i was craving them this morning and I decided to try them... Im sorry but no bueno. The Chipotle sauce was not good at all. the rice was cold and hard it seemed like it was reheated from the night before. This is not the spot for the Chipotle Chilaquiles. They also didnt tell me that that it came with 2 eggs when i ordered it over the phone and that they were over easy. Wish they would have told me and I could have had them well done or just not at all. You can see where I removed the eggs.

The burrito was huge but the meat was extremely chewy and we did not enjoy our food from Los Primos... Wouldn’t order again.

So aparantly the menu changed and it's way more expensive. But hey they won't change the menu board witch still has the old prices. New menu prices are 2 small tacos for $4.50. The old price was 3 for $4.50. Enjoy your rip off.
I’m so disappointed about my breakfast was the worse burrito ever has no flavor potatoes were burn bacon burn eggs overcook I ask for light cheese there no cheese the food was over priced to be honest I will no go back there anymore it was my favor place to eat 10 years ago the food had the best flavor not now is plain burn and dry simple disgusting
The beef inside the rolled tacos is not that good. Also the quacamole was canned (and tasteless). looked like it got squeezed out of a cake frosting tube. Also menu is overpriced. Don't waste your money
The AC does not work, I walked into los primos hoping it would have saved me from the sun, but inside this restaurant was no AC, I told the workers their if the AC worked and they said no. If I worked there today with this weather I would’ve quit on the spot. If this AC does not get fixed it would be a problem for future customers. And it would benefit your workers 100%.
Update 05/22 previously I rated this place at a 3 star. However today ohhh let me tell you! I ordered a chicken fajitas burrito and the fajitas were extremely salty uneatable. So terribly disappointed and dissatisfied specially for someone who orders food with low to no sodium when possible. Good Service, Mediocre Food, Good for a quick bite during your lunch break. Portions can be a little stingy. I ordered a burrito, a very specific burrito because of my diet no salt no grease just chicken and egg. Got it, it was 98% egg and the rest 2% pollo. On another occasion I ordered a grilled chicken burrito with just chicken and and shredded cabbage ofcourse the chicken being the main ingredient and the cabbage just an add on topping. Well the burrito again inside the giant floor tortilla was a pound of cabbage and a sprinkle of pollo. Not cool. The complimentary chips and salsa are good though. One all gender bathroom is well kept. Parking is crowded but I always seem to find a place to park. This place is always busy.
Rude lady on phone straight up ignored my question and hung up on me because she didn't feel like helping me figure out which macho burrito goes best with adobada. Working tonight at 7:50pm. I literally only asked two separate questions before she blatantly ignored me and hung up. I really like coming here, but I'll have to stop now. I'm over at Vallartas now, always killer service here.
First time there. The lady at the counter asking us every minutes if we were ready while we were reading the menu. We let the next customer go first. When we were ready to order the lady gave us the evil looks. We ended up walking out. Very rude lady. Never again. I guess they have enough money to not to care about customers. Good riddance.
I ordered an angus steak burrito. First bite, no salsa, tastes like bland roast roast beef and the guac has to be store bought. I grab a cup of habanero salsa to make this thing palatable. For point of reference, I am NOT a picky eater. I eat everything. This was terrible. Never going here again. Really don't understand why it's so crowded and so expensive. $7 bucks for a burrito?
I placed a delivery order through Uber Eats. Included in my order was a bowl of queso dip. However, the restaurant did NOT include any tortilla chips, and said that I have to “special request”. Seriously? Am I supposed to use my fingers or a spoon and just eat melted cheese with nothing?? They need to get with it and realize that the two go together. Would they serve me a bowl of queso in their restaurant and not give me tortilla chips? A “no-brained”, as far as I’m concerned. And poor customer service.
Have been going here for years on taco Tuesday when it started at 2.00 per taco then it went up to like 2.50 which was still ok and then I just went this last Tuesday and they are now blowing the taco up to 3.25 on taco Tuesday and the regular price now is 4.95 they seem to have forgotten loyal customers as it seems greed is setting in, won’t be going here anymore thank for the good times of the past.
Very pricey, they charge $4 for a small fountain drink.
I am not against people having success in business. However…I ordered 2 burritos (carne asada, and one chicken burrito). $29 for average sized and just ok food! It’s not like it’s grass fed beef. Seriously over priced for mediocre food. Save your hard earned $$. It’s a no for me.
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this is definitely not it. After a long day at LEGOLAND with our 3 kids we were hungry and wanted Mexican food. We ordered five different dishes, all of them were not good. Their shrimp fajitas, rice, and carne asada have absolutely no taste not even the salt taste. My oldest ordered a simple rice and bean burrito and he gagged after the first bite, my husband said those beans looked like can beans. Their carne asada doesn’t look cooked, it looks gray and not very appetizing. We will not be back and if you’re hungry and want something good to eat look some where else. We ended up tossing everything we bought and settled for Jack in the box
What kind of taquitos are these and why do the toppings look like this? No lettuce, no sour cream, the taco shells aren’t even crispy. This looks like something from a cardboard box, thrown in the microwave. This place is disgusting. Never going there again.
9.70 got me 3 rolled tacos that taste like a frozen walmart brand. Prepare from a container guac? And refried beans...from a can? And fries with a drink. Hands down the best item is the fries and drink. I felt like I was bothering the cashier when i asked if the guac had onions in it. This was my first time here. Quite sure its gonna be my last. I hear their monster burritos are good, but I might never know.
Ordered via Uber Eats. This meal was terrible. Visiting Carlsbad for business & craved Mexican food. We thought, Primos Mexican Food would be authentic. Nope, the meal tasted like taquitos and enchiladas you purchase at the frozen section at Costco. We ordered 2 chicken enchiladas topped with lettuce, 2 taquitos w/Guacamole, & the Flamimg Hot Monster Burrito. Enchiladas- No flavor at all. Ate only 1/2 as I was grossed out by the terrible taste. Not even the salsa helped. Taquitos w/Guacamole- Just because it's green, you can't claim it to be anywhere near Guacamole. it was brownish green. We had 1 taquitos each (the ones not touching the so-called guac), again, frozen taquito flavor.. Flamingo Hot Monster Burrito - the Hot Cheeto bag was probably left opened as the Cheetos were too soggy. Maybe, a Monster can eat this. Side of Rice & Beans - Tasted the beans and just put what went into my mouth into a napkin. We're all about Mexican Food and supporting small businesses, but this was no Mexican food. Save your appetite and shop elsewhere.
The amount of grease in the burrito is insane. It was dripping out of the bag, and had to use multiple napkins to soak most of it up and even after it was still extremely greasy. I love burritos, but this was just too much grease. We ended up having toss both our burritos because the tortilla was so drenched.

Twice they got the order wrong. I only wanted cilantro. She’s still called the manager and for the third time she said I only didn’t want cilantro still very incompetent service and being mad at the customer for them getting it wrong. What a joke you guys can do better.
Good cashier, complete ripoff. Absolutely no meat on the carne or guac asada fries. Horrible!
