FINALLY a Thai restaurant that uses dark chicken meat for their yellow curry, slow braises it along the potatoes in the sauce and doesn't use yellow food coloring. Almost every Thai place around uses white breast meat which is dry and tough compared to dark thigh and leg meat and always tastes like they parboiled it in water 5 minutes before they dump it in the curry sauce for serving. This allows these restaurants to offer a bunch of different kinds of proteins like beef or shrimp with different curry sauces, but since the meat is cooked separately from the sauce, it doesn't absorb the complex flavors and spices. Same with potatoes, most restaurants quick fry or bake the potatoes separately instead of slow cooking it in the sauce which makes the texture and flavor different. At this place, you can tell they slow cooked the new potatoes in the actual sauce. The only negative is it was kind of pricey at $14 for lunch, but I'll give that a pass since the location it's in probably has expensive rent. Will be back!

We love coming to the windmill, everyone can get what they want. I was super indecisive and saw the brussel sprouts on their menu, I was sold. They were absolutely delicious, would definitely get them again and try more items from their menu!

Who would have thought in this food court you can find really good Thai food? Wok hei is a trade mark in any good Asian stir fried dish, whether it's Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian what have you. And this Chicken drunken noodles at about $14 demonstrated great chef is not only found in 5 stars eateries. Just the right amount of seasoning, spiciness (7 for me) and lots of wok hei made this a delicious satisfying dish. And believe me I've eaten plenty of Asian stir fried dishes all over the world including Thailand.

thai-american guy here. had the pad kra prao with crispy pork belly. legit. so many mediocre thai places in food courts so this place completely surprised me, cuz this dish was so good. all the flavors were right, and texture of pork belly was like thailand. also the fried egg with brown crispy edges on top? love it. i hope this place succeeds!

Really tasty drunken noodles with chicken. Seriously good. Decent fresh rolls with a nice peanut that also enhanced those tasty drunken noodles. Nice to see the excellent Flipsde Burners too. Cool venue.

Had chicken pad Thai with no spice. Tasted great and was plenty of food especially for the price. Part of the windmill food hall so very convenient and plenty of seating.

My favorite Thai place in San Diego county, I’ve been coming here almost weekly for two years. Great service, every dish is excellent, and food is ready fast. Lots of options for dietary restrictions — they always do a great job with accommodating my seafood allergy.

The food at this cute little Thai spot is amazingly delicious! The service is always friendly and quick, and the portions are huge! I love the yellow curry without chicken, add extra potatoes and carrots and wide noodles instead of rice. The tofu Pad Thai without egg and traditional style with no spice is scrumptious. I add extra scallions and peanuts. Don't forget to get a Thai iced coffee. I understand there is a new 2nd location in Oside.

It’s a nice spot to spend time with family and having a good Thai food. It has many good foods on the menu. I’ve been there many times and tried most of the food on the menu is excellent. The employees are very friendly. I love this place. You can request a spice level. Must try.

A few months later, we're back in town and had to get the pad kee mao again, this time we also ordered pad thai and pad see ew - they were all good but the drunken noodles are still my fav. . . . Saw a picture of the drunken noodle from another reviewer and I just had to try. It definitely did not disappoint! Wow smell and taste amazing! A tad on spicy side which I love, wish the portion was bigger!

Ordered online amd went to pick it up. The whole food court is On Fire! So many families, young people, with good music background and very nice vibe! Everybody was happy, calm, smiling, friendly, I was nicely suprised! When i found the Thai Style, I was surprised again, the front girl, who is very authentic, friendly, organized, efficient, she is not Thai, but African American! Then all staff in the kitchen, are Mexican! And when I got the food (which is immediately!), the food smells and feels So Gooood. I went back tje hotel room, and we dived in! In a gllomy day like this, we have fresh coooked food: meat, soup, noodle and rice, xooked perfectly. Are they Thai American, like Elon Musk is African American? Hahahahah, they really did a good job, impressed 2 Asians who know how to cook (both American and Asian cuisines) very well! So, drunken noodles has no pictures because it went down so fast. Both soups, tom yum kung and tom yum gai are good, come with different veggies which says a lot about how much they care ❤ 😀 Jasmine rice is cooked to perfection too. Everything is super fresh. The taco restaurant on Carlsbad BLVD we went yesterday was unhappy about my negative review, and I didnt even mention the grilled fish in their taco was unfresh and stinky, one taco prices at $5.95....at a McDonald kind of set-up place aka "semi-self service" per the owner....I am thinking to take down one star from the original 2 star rating. I had a bad upset stomach until late night after the meal last night, meanwhile I have diguest the errogant reply from the restaurant owner. I dont want to waste my time to tell her, because I will have nothing nice to say but 1, if you dont feed customerswith stinky fish, your business might not suffer as bad as it is. And 2, xome and check out all the excellent food places in this Food Mall, the food all smell great and customers all look happy. They dont swem have a hard time to survive, and they dont have to deceive customers by charging high prices for rotten food. No place is out of business although they dont have a premium location like you do. An honest business with good staff like Thai Style, will always thrive and be loved. I will definitely come back very soon.

We stopped by for dinner to wait out the traffic before heading back home to SD. Both the drunken noodles and Thai green tea tasted delicious and authentic! Very pleased to have this amazing Thai place in the food hall. Decent value for tasty Thai food. Also, shout out to the amazing cashier and cooks! Super friendly and professional. We will definitely come back to try their other dishes!

As a fan of Thai food for many years now, I have been hesitant to stop by Thai Style in Carlsbad. I was afraid of a "gentrified" inauthentic experience due to the location. Thankfully my worries were put to rest. I visited early in the afternoon on a Monday, not too much going on in the windmill food hall. I was greeted promptly and amicably by the employee working at the front desk named Pixel, and she helped answer all of my questions in a patient manner. She seemed to really care that I had a positive experience for my first visit. I ordered the "drunken noodle" and green tea w/boba. The food was ready in no time and had great flavor. I ordered a 6 on the spicy scale, which at most other Thai places would have me sweating, but here the food wasn't nearly as spicy. Will definitely go with 8 or 9 next time. To conclude, I think Thai style is a great introductory option for someone who is curious to try Thai food. Prices seem pretty average for a Thai restaurant. Expect to pay 20 bucks for a hearty meal.

Fried rice was amazingly good. Food took a while, but worth the wait. Small menu, but several gluten-free items. They let me know the Brussels sprouts, while labeled gf, actually could have fryer cross contamination. Sigh. Located in the windmill food hall, so atmosphere is what it is.

Great atmosphere and great food quality. The only thing for the price I must say is that it could be more of it. It lacked quantity but gained its quality for me. Brooklyn was very nice with super customer service to help with even taking my many food items to my table.

As a south east asian craving for some asian food, this hits the spot. The drunken noodles was savoury and the noodles tangy. The serving size is huge as well. Do take note that although I only ordered a spicy-ness level of 3/10, it was still relatively spicy. It’s free and easy seating , and both indoor and outdoor seatings are available! Perfect for a slow weekday afternoon.

The food is amazing. I ordered the Pad Thai and Thai tea during my lunch break. It was ready really fast, got both the drink and food at the same time. The Pad Thai has amazing taste, nice blend of meat, vegetables and noodle mix in. Thai tea gave me boost of energy. This was my first time coming as other co-workers recommend this place for lunch. Very friendly staffing and area. I'm between ordering next time the Kar Prow or Fried Rice for tomorrow's lunch.

Best option I've found for pad Thai after moving up from the Mira mesa. In the Mira mesa area there were so many more options, but still exploring. The portion size is average but it is very tasty! I've tried a few places in encinitas, and northern part of San Diego but most have turned out to be not that great. For now this will be my go to in this area.

First Visit—Pixel took my order and was very friendly and helpful. Food came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. Fresh Rolls (4 pieces) were tasty with very yummy peanut sauce. Pad Prik King with Beef was delicious. It’s a bit pricey for the vibe and the fact that you have to order, pickup your own food, and clean up your own table, yet still asked to tip (I did give $5 bc Pixel was so great). But it shouldn’t be required or even truly expected! Total $32! This is a small storefront within a larger Food Hall at The Windmill Food Hall. Outside seating could be better if it wasn’t blocked by the fence without any view. Inside seating is large yet dark and unappealing. Again it’s for All the food places altogether. There’s plenty of parking—large, Free parking lot.

Spicy Basil is yummy. Had it before and got 7 on the spicy scale but still added (1)ONE packet of sriracha. I love this place . .. great food - also love their Tom Kha - great service…. but the delicious Spicy Basil is always dry and they literally only give sauce if you ask and then it’s literally only (1)ONE packet of each you ask for. I got a bonus (4)four soy sauce packets and it’s still too dry and surprisingly with level 7 and adding the ONE sriracha packet, I could use more spice.

I’ve eaten a lot of Pad Thai. This one is just “meh”. It was quite salty and lackluster in flavor. The chicken was dry. If you’re craving Pad Thai, it gets the job done, but that’s about it. There’s a meme about not making Pad Thai at home because it’s cheaper and tastier to get it from a restaurant. In this case, I think it would have actually tasted better if I made it myself. I’ve given this place 3 stars because the service was friendly (enough), and the food was out quick. But I can’t say that I will be back.

It's located inside the Windmill food hall, first floor, food court style. There are a lot of seats and tables available, including outdoor seating, nice dinning environment. We ordered Thai fried rice with pork belly, Pad See Ew, and Pad Thai with shrimp. The fried rice was our favorite. The pork belly was fried and it tastes so good. Two 8 year old girls finished the whole box pretty fast :) size is generous. My picture only shows like half of the amount. Shrimp pad Thai is good as well. Noodles are a bit soft but shrimps are toasted, yum-yum! Pad See Ew was not cooked well. It's too salty and some ingredients were burned so taste bitter… I can only rate one star for Pad See Ew.

Food was too salty and lacking in flavor. Yellow curry was generously sized, but quality was not great. Not enough curry, too many potatoes, and chicken was bone-in and big. Blah experience overall.

I tried this place on a whim! So many choices in the food court and Thai just sounded good! Honestly the food was okay, nothing memorable but definitely not horrible! The 2 star rating was more for the woman working the register. Not pleasant, would not smile. Really put across that she was angry that we walked up! I let it go but then sat at a table and watched her interact with other paying customers and seen the same frustration and intolerance to them as well. She is definitely the wrong person for that job. Left me feeling like my 50.00 dollars plus tip should have been spent at any of the other restaurants! I am not saying she should be over the top bubbly, however just any kind of people skills would be nice. Sorry to have spent $50.00 dollars at your establishment and put you through so much of a hassle! If she is yhe owner she needs to find someone else to work the front and I would say I feel bad for anyone who has to work with her every day. But again the food was okay. Based on the food I might try again but if she is at the front, giant NOPE!

$13 for pad Thai. $5 for Mexican coke. A little high imo for a single dish with nothing else. My local Thai place offers a soup AND salad with pad Thai for $11 on their lunch menu, when I was here. Took 13 minutes which also seemed excessive. The pad Thai is below average. It had about four piexes if measurable chicken, and mostly just a bunch of tidbits. The noodles were mushy and gluey, far more than normal. Just a big clump. The prices at all the places here are pretty high and above average. It's kind of a cool atmosphere but never seems busy.

S
Sarah Foutz

Ordered the yellow curry with chicken. The curry was brown and didn’t taste like any sort of yellow curry I’ve ever had. It was good though, just not what I wanted. I wasn’t feeling well and was hoping the yellow curry would be a comfort food while I was away from home. The rice was a little tough and the chicken in the curry was still on the bone, which I personally don’t like, as it means you have a mess when trying to eat it. The girl who took my order was nice and the food was ready fast so two stars for that but if I want Thai food again, I would go somewhere else.

L

This place sucks. They clearly don't care about their customers/customer service. Kid hands me a drink dripping with liquid all around it, and she just gives me this look when I look at her like "what're you gonna do about it" Sick of kids not taking 1 second when they make a mistake and overfill something, to wipe it down. Whoever is the owner, get on this. Kids should know & do better. I worked fast food for years, so I know this isn't too much to ask. People deserve better!

I will never go here again. To be honest, the food was pretty good. Not great. Service was not upsetting. I got the drunken noodles with chicken, which were a 5 outta 10. BUT I also got the yellow curry with chicken, which the flavor was decent but they give you two chicken thighs with bones in it. I choked on two different bones after removing what I thought was all of the bones. Just take the extra step and I’ll wait the extra couple of minutes for you to debone a curry so that I don’t die. Thanks! Love the ambiance though…

Hard pass. It's Thai food made by Eastern Europeans. The yellow curry was made like a stew with huge cuts of carrots and red potatoes and too salty, not enough curry coconut flavor. The pad see-ew was burnt and made with broccoli, carrots, and overcooked noodles. There was not even a hint of sweetness. The pad Thai was really salty and stingy on the bean sprouts. Service was fine but it took a while.

Not authentic or close Pad Thai - Chicken that looks and tastes like salty black soy sauce. NOT sweet, orange color, or tamarind flavor. Portion size was large. I told my wife let me try mine first then you can order one. She was hungry so she went ahead and ordered the second one. It was the same disappointment. The kids said it tasted weird. I’m not coming back. C’mon how can you mess up Pad Thai, I can do better at home. Hopefully the owner gets their sauces right for the sake of future customers.

The food was great, however inadequate staff makes me not want to come back for a second time. They first gave my food to someone else and then said that I picked up the food. Then after telling them I will dispute with my card, they agreed to remake it. The manager didn't even bother to apologize for their mistake!

I ordered pad thai with shrimp, the register person thought I said chicken. They didn't bother to check with me again what protein I wanted. When I got the pad thai I took it back and they referenced the receipt which showed chicken. They also didn't offer to correct it or admit that they got the order wrong. The food court is great, the service and food are not.

When I got the pad thai I took it back and they referenced the receipt which showed chicken. They also didn't offer to correct it or admit that they got the order wrong. The food court is great, the service and food are not.
