I’ve been coming to M&M Soul Food about once a week for a while now, and they never miss. Whether I’m there for a hearty breakfast or a late lunch, the quality is always top-tier. My go-to rotations are the Turkey Chops Dinner (perfectly seasoned), the Chicken Wing Lunch, and even their Vegetarian Meal, which is proof that they know how to handle their sides just as well as their meats. But what really keeps me coming back isn’t just the food—it’s the people. The staff treats you like family from the moment you walk in. It has that authentic, welcoming neighborhood feel that you just can’t find anymore. If you want real food and real people, this is the spot.
I just moved to Carson last year from New Orleans La 7 ward. This is the best place I’ve been sent moving to California My Favorite or The Oxtails with bean and Rice. The very best. Thank you’ll So much.Paul B Dacool
The food was good, the vibe was good. 10 out of 10 recommend. I have to smothered beef patty with onions, rice and gravy and scrambled eggs, with a hot tea. My husband had the ultimate breakfast with chicken wings catfish grits eggs and toast. The kids had pancakes, bacon and eggs. 😋🥰 Delicious!!!!
The the cashier customer service was excellent! The young lady that actually went in the back to get my food she was awesome and very nice I would go back just for her service tbh. Now I did have one minor problem with my cornbread which is a minor mistake on the bakery side especially if you're not paying attention when you cracking the eggs but then again if a tiny piece drops in a bowl when I'm cooking breakfast I noticed it right away and remove it. Because I did noticed 2 medium small shells in my cornbread, good thing I was breaking it to eat it instead of just biting it 😬... And I only order the veggie plate because all I needed was the sides for my dinner. Overall the greens the Black eyed peas and the yams were excellent and tasted great
M&M Soul food was packed!! So many orders to go it was so awesome to see how busy it was! We ordered a few things but as plates were being made they ran out of some of the things in our order, which is fine and they refunded the difference for the missing items. We got the catfish nuggets with potato salad & the oxtail plate with dressing, greens and mac & cheese. The oxtail were so rich and delicious, fall off the bone tender. The mac and cheese was super flavorful and rich, the greens were seasoned perfectly 👌 with a little crystal hot sauce *chefs kiss* the potato salad was delicious but not my favorite, it was a little too sweet for my liking and the dressing was heavy handed on the sage, it took away from the natural sweetness from the Cornbread, however these are just my preferences! The food was great, the ladies working were great, super friendly! Definitely recommend.
Delicious Soul Food that keeps me coming back again and again! Over the past year, I’ve returned time and time again—whether during the week or on the weekend—and every single visit brings the same consistent, comforting flavor that genuinely makes me happy. There’s something about walking in and knowing exactly how good it’s going to be. My favorites are the red snapper, mac and cheese, candied yams, cornbread dressing, and those soft, sweet cornbread muffins. Soul food is definitely a personal preference, but for me, M&M’s is a clear favorite—better than Dulan’s and Delicious.
Great family-oriented & operated restaurant right of the 91 freeway on Alberterny. Great soul food & Great comfort food. I recommend eating here if you want good soul food! Sorry I ate my food before I took pictures to post.
If Mama ain't cooking, then M & M's is the next best thing. This is Soul Food that truly feeds the soul. The staff is fantastic. They take really good care of you as you drift into soul food bliss. Be patient, though, because some dishes are cooked to order. This ain't fast food...this is real food. There's a reason why M & M Soul Food is legendary in Los Angeles. Come in, sit down, pick up a menu, and order. When your plates are set before you, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
I was in the area and stopped by to try some liver n onions. Dinner portions were huge, coming on 2 plates, well priced for what I got! The meal was delicious, well seasoned, not too salty, and so tasty. Will definitely return to try other menu items.
Went last Sunday. The food was really good. I ordered the roast beef special with yams, man n cheese, and red beans & rice. Big portions! The roast was very good. I like the sides. However, the red beans and rice were not my favorite but still good. I ordered my son the fried chicken dinner with double mac n cheese and the buttered corn. He loved it! Lastly, I ordered a small banana pudding. I was good as well.
This is still one of the better Soulfood restaurants in Southern California. I have the short ribs with gravy, candied, yams, and greens and sweet tea. The ribs were tender and falling off the bone, and as usual the color greens and the yams were outstanding. The restaurant is small, but the staff are always friendly and efficient. If you want really good soul food at a good price, check out M and M Soul Food.
I finally had an opportunity to try the selections at M& M Restaurant, located in Carson, CA! I was actually recommended to try the entrees, great choice. I actually order from their Signature Breakfast menu - Chicken Wings(3). This entree can with Country-style Potatoes, 2 Eggs and Toast. The meal was tasty,well-seasoned and the portions were good. I actually ended up enjoying the entree for both Breakfast and lunch. The service was good and the atmosphere was cozy. In terms of the menu selection, M&M Restaurant serves both Breakfast,, Lunch and Dinner and it offers variety in meal selection options. I would definitely order from M& M Restaurant again; next visit I'll order from the Lunch or Dinner menu! Definitely checkout this restaurant, located in Carson, California!
*I am from the South! This means I ate soul food for dinner 6 out 7 nights a week! So this is a valid review! The smell soon as you walk into this restaurant sets you up! Everything smells so good you want to order the entire menu! The girls in the front are so polite the encouraged me to go ahead a indulge! Lol My mistake was taking my food to go! It smelled so good I almost could not focus on the road! For that reason the corn bread did not arrive that’s why it isn’t pictured! I promise you are silly not try this spot! I wish I lived closer I’d eat her 7 nights a week and spend my entire check here!! Lol
The food was awesome, amazing, fantastic. I can eat here everyday. The pork chops, macaroni and cheese, and greens. Pure fire 🔥🔥🔥💯. Our whole table was packed out food everywhere. And the corn bread was perfect. The only thing I wish is that the location was bigger. If your in Carson visit this location you will love the soul food.

Had the catfish plate, red beans/rice, mac/cheese with peach cobbler, and tea. Food was tasty and the portions were adequate. The mac/cheese seemed generic. Everything else was good. I frequent here every few months. Usually the service and food is pretty good. The younger ladies who serve are generally very sweet and attentive. The older lady server with excessive lashes was quite rude and slammed items down on our table. Seemed like she was having a bad day and decided to take it out on us. It was a little embarassing because some people in our group were visiting from another state. Towards the end of our meal, she warmed up a little and was a little nicer. She started at a 2 and ended at a 5. The food is generally pretty good soul food. The smoothered pork chops and fried chicken was a little bland. The cornbread, yams, green beans, catfish, gumbo and greens were all good. The food came out quickly and was hot. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope the next time I visit, the server has moved on.
I walked in looking for an authentic soulfood experience and loved the family touch of the environment. Much of the decor and photos on the wall signaled it was a well-loved family business. The service however, signaled something different completely. More like the “Why are you here?” rather than “Welcome to M&M”. In addition to never being bought water to the table my service was hurried in a way that made enjoying the soul experience a little less pleasurable. After entering, I excused myself to wash my hands, when I returned the menus were scattered on the table; as if they were thrown. I looked over the menu and decided on all vegetarian sides. One slight mishap was the menu did not post there is turkey bacon in the beans. As for the food, I enjoyed the yams, the mac + cheese, but felt the greens were over salted (a common problem). M&M had the food, but none of the soul I was really looking for.

Our food was $70 and the food was bland, one of my sides were cold to the table. I just ate it cold because I don't want them warming my food in the microwave. The chicken wings are too big and undercooked. The Oxtails weren't tender and was bland. Also, they taste like there cooked in a pressure cooker. I hope they can add some Soul and flavor in their food. Today, I felt like I had cafeteria food. For $70 dollars I expected better quality. The price is the price but can I get some decent flavorful entrees. Maybe, management will do some quality control.
I’m here right now waiting for my food. I was sitting down inside at the booth by the door when a man walked in and the waitress asked me and my daughter if we could move so this man could sit there as she put it he “owned” that booth seat! Wow I couldn’t believe it due to the fact I am handicapped and use a cane. I didn’t argue I went and sat in my car. I have never been so HUMILIATED. I will never patronize this place because they don’t treat their customers with dignity and respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to M M Restaurant in Carson on Albertoni St. the day before Christmas. They were closed but the gentleman was nice enough to sell to me thst which I desired. No acknowledgment or recognition for the fact that I am patronizing their business coming to their location. When I could have went somewhere else? Of course, there are so many different eatery places with so much. You know, like better prices. Their energy is better. Positive environments like encouraging like you know, quality food preparations of the food and also like just making you feel like you. You are welcomed as a person who's patronizing their business. They appreciate you and your value. As a customer not at this place whatsoever, all the people are strange very weird and the city alone. Let alone at this restaurant. I am over it, the food was disgusting. They may not have changed that oil and forever. So I'm guessing they're frying their pork chops. They're chicken and they're fish in the same oil. I have food sensitivities and allergies. So therefore, this was awful. The food looks ridiculous. I was given my order without any utensils and napkins. It was just a plastic bag and the container. Like bye that's all and I actually tipped. And I'm still not even giving consideration when I go back inside to ask for utensils, I'm just like directed to where they are like he points like go there and I'm like Dang really?
