Opinions de Lunada Garden Bistro Cayucos
Luanda Garden Bistro is easily the best restaurant in Cayucos. The food, atmosphere and staff easily make this the best spot in town. My wife and I stayed across the street for a few days and we ate here twice. Each dish that we ordered was exquisite. If you’re staying in Cayucos, this place is a must!
Food, dranks, hospitality…everything was superb. We had Realm wine, rack of lamb, scallops, surf n turf and the duck. Couldn’t have asked for a better Weds night in good ol Cayucos!!
This restaurant is a hidden secret garden escape! Beautiful decor and beautiful outdoor dinning. The lobster tail was absolutely delicious! The bacon wrapped scallops were cooked to perfection! We received great service from our waiter who was very knowledgeable of the menu. I can't wait to go back and am glad I was able to have this fantastic dinning experience. We sat outside with our two dog without any issues.
A Hidden Gem with Unmatched Hospitality We had such a fantastic experience at Lunada Garden Bistro. Despite arriving right at 8 PM as they were closing, the staff warmly welcomed us and sat us in the garden under the stars. They even brought out a patio heater without us asking—such thoughtful service! Our server was incredibly kind, professional, and shared that she’s working her way through school—truly inspiring and admirable. We enjoyed every minute of our meal. I had the ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection, and my friend ordered the Shrimp and Clams Pancetta Fettuccine, which she paired with a glass of wine. Every bite was exceptional. The atmosphere, food, and heartfelt service made it a memorable night. Highly recommend dining here—you'll be glad you did.
We really enjoyed our first visit ti Lunanda Garden Bistro! Everything was excellent! The garden area was the perfect place for the beautiful day!
We attended my son's wedding on the beach. The reception was held at this restaurant. The place is cute and is farm house style. There was a banquet room/garden in the back of the restaurant and the decorations were super cute! I had chicken and my husband had steak. The meal was excellent! My son said the rent of the place was very reasonable. We would definitely go there again.
I had such a wonderful brunch experience at Lunada Garden Bistro! The food was delicious, and the service was truly exceptional. My son and I had an amazing visit, everything from the atmosphere to the attention we received made it special. Ish & Yesi as always, were just fantastic. Thank you for making our time there so enjoyable!
Go to place when you are anywhere close to Cayucus. Great prices, great food, excellent service and best of all, pup friendly.
I ordered fish and chips. The breading on the fish was light and tasty. The tartar sauce is made fresh and tasty. Not out of a bottle. The fries (chips) were fresh cut thin and also tasty. Everything prepared by professional chef. It shows. Highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, and the out door seating was excellent.
Great Brunch, great Service and a really nice outdoor Patio on a Warm, Sunny day (make sure you try the Patio, lots of Greenery). My Doggie liked it also, almost as much as her side of Bacon. I would not hesitate to go again if in the area.
On a day date with my husband, we set off in search of coffee and we stumbled across Lunada. It opened up just as we walked across their front porch. We decided to have a glass of wine or cocktail before moving on. After seeing the menu, my husband decided we were staying for fillets. I am so glad we did. The mixed drinks were fantastic and the filets, absolute perfection. The atmosphere was one that offers a sophisticated dining experience high-quality service, but without the formality and strictness associated with fine dining. It is definitely a place where you can relax and enjoy a delicious meal without feeling a rigid formality you might in other places. We decided to sit in the garden and it was peaceful and relaxing. There is also indoor seating if that’s more your pace. Or if the weather is not cooperative. The weight staff was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend two friends and family in the area and we will be back!
Such a beautiful spot. The service is amazing, the portions and the quality of the food were outstanding, we loved it. We went for my husband’s birthday and it was a really wonderful meal. We ended up chatting with one of the owners and his story is a beautiful one! Love this place!
Thank you for one of the best dining experiences we had during our California Central Coast trip! Garden is its middle name, and we enjoyed the colorful displays of beautiful flowers all around. The food was excellently prepared and presented. Filet mignon and salmon were both perfect. The service was pretty good. My only ‘complaint’ is the Margarita was double the regular size and they don’t water down their drinks! Ha ha, that’s probably a pro and a con.
LUNADA GARDEN BISTRO, a unique, historic, beautiful eatery, serving California cuisine. The bistro was created because of mountainous terrain and powerful coastal winds. Let me explain: It took six, sometimes eight draft horses, hitched to a Concord stagecoach, averaging five miles per hour, to overcome the steep trails of central California's coast. Traveling was uncomfortable: Concord coaches used "Throughbraces," (thick leather straps) to suspend the four foot wide, nine passenger compartment. Side-to-side sway jarred passengers. The firm, damask-leather covered benches offer little comfort, during the nearly fifty miles between "waystations." Rest stops were greatly appreciated. In 1876, the Cottage Hotel, a stagecoach waystation, was built by the Pedraitas family, in Cayucos California, a few hundred feet from the Pacific Ocean. "Diablo Winds," often referred to as "Zephyrs," are brutal winds that whip off the Pacific. To protect the horses' overnight stay, a deep trough was cut behind the waystation. Inside this man-made depression, the "Devil Winds" soften. The last stagecoach left Cayucos, May 5, 1894. Ruts cut into the rocky trail, by Concord's steel-rimmed wheels, are still visible. A century later, "Hoppe's," a modern California restaurant, opened in the restored "Way Station." The sides of the protective trough were planted with wild flowers, attracting thousands of butterflies. The dining room's eighteenth century, decor displays the history of the structure. Period furniture provides comfortable seating in the reception area. The bar's masculine ambience is part gentlemen's club; part Western Saloon. The multi-level garden is reminiscent of an intimate, European country bistro. Meals are served inside the original building and outside on the bricked patio and trough floor. Umbrella protected, intimate tables are scattered throughout the dense garden. Only the kitchen is modernized. Chef, Fernando, lovingly maintained the restaurant, bar, and garden. Several years later, Chef Fernando's Sous Chef, Ishmael, took over. Chef Ishmael's menu continues to offer conventional proteins, as well as, gluten-free, and vegan dishes. Whenever possible, meals will be prepared to fulfill a customer's dietary requirements. The wine and beer list is extensive and includes many local California selections. For our brunch, we sat next to the "trough," flirting with butterflies. RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. STUFF: Carry-outs are available. Wheelchair accessible only from the garden at the rear of the restaurant. From Ocean Avenue, enter the North passageway, on the front of the eaterie's left side. The patio is dog friendly. There are two bathrooms, inside the restaurant, and a difficult to find, restroom on the north side of the patio. All are modernized, and wheelchair accessible. Free street parking. MORE STUFF: Stagecoach travel in the 1800s costs about 3.5 cents per mile. Considering inflation, a stagecoach trip will run, in today's dollars, well over $1 per mile. Commercial jet travel, in today's dollars, about 7 cents per mile. Hank and Maryellen Eiseman renamed The Cottage Hotel as The Way Station and planted the beautiful garden. (1974)
Hands down AMAZING food and ambience!!! We got oysters and they were amazingly fresh. We got the rack of lamb and crispy salmon and both the entrees were exactly as described on the menu. Crispy yet tender and flavorful salmon, tender and very flavorful(bursting with flavor) lamb. The outdoor area is filled with blooming plants and it's beautiful. Must visit.
Beautiful garden setting with various areas to enjoy good food, or seating is available inside. Service was very good and attentive. Menu had a good number of vegetarian & vegan choices, plus the staff is great at allowing substitution. There is parking in the rear, just enter the driveway next to the USPS building. We'll be stopping in again for the great outdoor atmosphere, service and food.
Thank you so much for the kindness and support you’re giving to families the kids meal it’s so much appreciated God bless you and all your staff ❤️
This place is underrated and phenomenal! I'm amazed that this place wasn't as packed as it should be. Of course they take reservations and v they are recommended. I walked in 30 minutes before closing and not only did they accommodate they didn't skimp on the quality or service. Highly recommended. I'm coming here on my birthday for sure.
We came in for Sunday brunch, and had the California omelette, Seafood omelette, and the lobster egg roll. They were all delicious; the lobster egg roll especially so! We also had a mocha from the cafe next door (you can place your order to the waiter and they’ll get it). There’s a great garden, and seating amidst it, but there was a bit of a wait; reserve spots ahead if you want seating there. We’ll definitely come back here the next time we’re in Cayuco!
We went there w group of 11 knowing they have seatings outdoor in their garden in the back. Everyone were happy, relaxed enjoying good fresh air from the ocean across the street. Dishes are spectacular good. Service is very attentive. Price is unbelieveable good compared to the Bay Area. If you are not that hungry, they also have a next door cafe and bar... I will definitely go back soon.
The food is super yummy and fresh, and the restaurant has more of a house feel, with a cute garden out back where you can eat. I really liked this place, the ambiance is really nice, and the staff is super friendly and fast. I had the Portabello Quinoa burger, and it was fabulous--very fresh and tasty. The french fries that came with it was also very yummy.

3/4/2024. Went for early dinner. Had the roasted artichokes-always amazing. My husband had soup which was a white bean and vegetable soup. I was a little watery and would have been better as a creamy soup. My husband had the duck while I had a thai shrimp salad which was very enjoyable. We shared carrots cake which was served with ice cream and so. Good. Lunada is always good. Went for dinner after it was recommended by a friend. We enjoyed a roasted artichoke appetizer that was very good. My husband had a Caesars salad and I had a cup of creamy roasted poblano soup. The soup was really creamy and was just spicy enough. The duck was nicely prepared served over mashed potatoes served with roasted carrots. The baseball sirloin with scallops served with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. For dessert, we enjoyed chocolate cake. Everything was very good, the waitress was very friendly and the restaurant was nice.

My husband and I had a celebratory dinner for our anniversary at this hidden gem. The atmosphere was rustic upscale without being pretentious. There was a beautiful back garden patio with a covered heated seating area. We ordered the crab and avocado spring roll appetizer which balanced both elements as to not be overpowering , but full of flavor. For our entrees we ordered the filet mignon and bacon wrapped scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. Neither of us have had such a tender filet mignon since dining at a well known steak house in Denver. The pistachio creme brulee with fresh berries was a delightful end to a truly memorable meal. We had the honor of meeting the owner who served us our meal. It was evident he humbly takes pride in his wonderful restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Cayucous!!
Very good brunch for 11 of us today. Had breakfast and lunch options available, and everybody had a great time! Try the Cuba Libre if you like lattes. Potstickers are the best I’ve ever had. Seafood omelet is full of the freshest seafood, and the presentation is awesome! Don’t miss this one! 👍👍
We had dinner the night before Thanksgiving. Oh my gosh it was good. Husband had salmon. I had rack of lamb. Everything was to perfection. Pistachio crème brûlée for desert. Amazing view. Great experience. If you want to eat outside in their beautiful garden, that’s an option . Go!

Lovely garden setting on a beautiful day. They had a gentleman playing guitar and singing which was a nice addition to the ambiance. Food was good, fried calamari, oysters on the half, seafood omelet and eggs benedict were all tasty. Took a walk on the beach while waiting for our table. Service was good, too. Nothing super outstanding but nothing remotely bad, thus the 4 stars.
This is a lovely restaurant for a special occasion. The staff is kind, the cocktails good and we enjoyed all of our food. It is on the pricey side!
We have tried their sister coffee bar a time or a dozen so we decided to see how the restaurant was. It was absolutely delicious! While the waitstaff was very friendly and sweet, I would say they left us to our own devises (which can go either way depending on the dining experience you are looking for). We were offering still or sparkling water, but weren’t ever offered or asked if we wanted anything besides water (ie coffee, tea…). They did bring out everything so fast and were so kind and accommodating to our pup. The food was delicious as well! 🤗💜
Nice Italian place. Good options. They were willing to make adjustments which is helpful. Decent wine choices and good desserts menu. Lentil soup was good, tiramisu was alight, the baguette with oil and butter was nice. Service was slow to begin with but it caught up. If you are in town and looking for some good food and good times with family or friends, this is a good place to go. Note that they have a different lunch and dinner menus. Lunch menu is more like burgers and sandwiches. So decided to add dinner menu pictures.

Very good meal, the menu items all look great mocktails are delicious too. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our wants, the building and decor are very warm and inviting. We live near Cayucos, I've never heard anything about this place. We will absolutely return.

Salmon BLTA was subpar. Too much bread and salmon should have been shredded. English muffin for benedict was a bit burnt. Service could have been better. We did not have any silverware till after our meal arrived. Unfortunately little flies everywhere and we could hear the kitchen music blaring.
We are a party of six and decided to come here for breakfast. They were able to accommodate us to sit outside! Beautiful day, beautiful ambience. For starters, we tried the artichoke the fried calamari and the lobster rolls. The best of the three was the artichoke. For entrées we had everything from Thai salad, Caesar salad, fish and chips, shrimp and chips, croissant sandwich, and their California burger and a kids grilled cheese. The kids, fish and chips is probably the best entrée on the table. The salads could have been a lot better for the price. My sister enjoyed her California burger which is great because she has a lot of allergy restrictions and they were able to accommodate her the kids grilled cheese was an edible no adult nor child wanted to eat it. Luckily, they exchanged it for a pancake. The artichoke dip was good. The fried calamari was a tad bit rubbery and the adult shrimp and chips weren’t as filling as the kids, fish and chips. If you checking on yelp, one person at your table, can get a glass of champagne. That was the best Champagne I’ve ever had! So I would come back here for the champagne, the kids, fish and chips, and really that’s the highlight of the meal in our opinion. My biggest take away from this restaurant. Was they really should make better salads for the price they charge.

Our meal was fine. We started out with abalone ( which was pretty good) and the bacon jam crostini, the flavors were fine but the bread was soggy. Our entrees were the best part about the experience. The pork chop and polenta were yummy but the nuts and all the toppings were just too much. They try to do far too much on one plate. Then dessert, the cream brûlée was fine but the apple crumble was awful, it was basically stewed apples with nuts and ice cream. The service was also fine. Over all the experience was just acceptable enough to not be terrible.
Ordered the croissant sandwich that comes with egg Canadian bacon & spinach and a side of fruit. Egg was over cooked, spinach made sandwich taste chalky and fruit was soggy like it was old. Definatly not fresh!! My wife ordered the sirloin & eggs. Steak had no seasoning & tasted bland. Maybe it was an off day or breakfast just isn't their specialty. 🤷♀️ But, 2 plates that failed doesn't make for wanting to come back.
Ordered lunch to go after a beach day. When I walked in to pick it up, the hostess was outside helping someone else, and the two staff members inside completely ignored me and were chatting with each other. One even said to the other “want me to tell you why I don’t care about this business anymore?” I saw 4-5 employees, and it seemed like 2 were having to do all the work. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, and it even said chicken salad on the box, but it was a piece of grilled chicken breast with lettuce and tomato- not at all what was on the menu. My husband got the lobster quesadilla and there was lots of spinach, very little lobster, and just didn’t taste good- he kill couldn’t even finish it. The quesadilla would probably have been better fresh, but the unprofessional behavior of the employees and completely wrong sandwich gave us a very poor experience. The garden seating and atmosphere itself seemed amazing, I would have loved to come back sometime if the service wasn’t so bad.
We had reservations made 3 weeks in advance for the dining room for 4 people and when we arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation the party in front of us was complaining about where they were going to be sat at and the hostess gave them our table. I asked the hostess if he gave our table away in the dining room to them and he said he checked them in first and said sorry. So we left and ate somewhere else. We will not be going back. This is the 3rd time we have had issues. The first we were sat outside with no heater when we were booked inside. The other my husband never got his food. All the hostess said was sorry. Terrible service.
