Loved it. Had breakfast. Homemade corned beef hash! Eggnog latte was one of the best I have had. Cute and reasonably priced. It will be our place to go now!
Everything served at Dave's Diner is fresh and local. The pickles are homemade and if you say medium rare, it's medium rare. The blueberry lemonade is delicious. I'll definitely be going there again.
My wife and I were traveling from New York back to Boston . And we stumbled across this diner . So we went and it was fantastic one of the best dining experience we have ever had. Our waitress was amazing and the food was great. Thanks 😊
Drove to Cazenovia for breakfast with my brother. The waitress was excellent! Food was very good and hot! First visit to this establishment but would recommend it.
We stopped in for the first time today to have lunch on the porch during nap time- I checked back on the status 4-5 times as we were told just a few minutes after the initial 10 minutes- as it was a slow paced break I wasn’t concerned at all however they freely admitted they dropped the ball on our order and took care of the bill- the food was excellent and the staff was extremely pleasant to deal with- I will go out of my way to go back here in the future!
This place is DELICIOUS!!! They have a ton of great options, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salad and even lighter stuff like avocado toast, a whole little coffee/espresso bar to order from. Hot and iced coffee. It's a great place to work as well, coming from an entrepreneur.
The best service I’ve ever had! I make sure to come here at least once a week. The staff is always so kind, and the food is great! 10/10 recommend :)
I have always had great food and service here! This past weekend was no exception. I had a great meal and can't wait to return to try some other options.
When I discovered Dave's Diner is when I discovered a generous portion of homemade Corned Beef Hash. It was delicious and really completed a hearty breakfast! The staff was friendly. *****A great diner in a charming college town.
Was staying at the Brae Loch Inn over the weekend, stopped in here for breakfast on Father's Day. Food was excellent, service was prompt and reliable.
We go here every Sunday after Church, sometimes there is a wait, but we buy coffees and pastries from the barista, until our table is ready. Food is very good and served hot, and they have gluten free options ;)
Prompt service. Very attentive. Excellent food. Corned beef hash made in house. The best!
Dave's Diner was really good. I had the French toast, bacon and grapefruit juice. It was a very pleasant experience. I will definitely go back!
Best meal I have had in a long time! Was a last minute stop while passing thru on our way home!! Great staff awesome food!!! Will be going again!!
Best diner ever!
First time there and will be back! Service was amazing, and fast and food was so good! Love the feel and atmosphere inside.
The wait on Sunday was only 30 minutes and the service was fast and kind, there were signs to have patience but it wasn't needed at all. The cinnamon french toast was incredible and I will definitely be back. Kudos to how smoothly everyone seemed to work together!
Nice place to visit for dinner fare. So far only had scrambled eggs And toast so, and an occasional breakfast sandwich so I can't comment too much on the food. Both of those items are good, and I like that the bagel is crispy outside and chewy inside. Anyway, i here in the mornings this semester before class as I am a commuter to Caz for a continuing education class. It's cozy and inviting I tend to go to the common grounds section. I enjoy seeing the locals regularly meet up for a coffee and a chat. Lovely place.
If your in near Caz high recommend it is a great cozy restaurant and it really has the feel of a mom and pop restaurant. Good food not a large restaurant and not large menu. Cool coffee shop attached to it also. John 14:6
I always hit Dave's when I can. The breakfast is right every time. Have not had a bad meal yet! Wait staff is always friendly and smiles are many.
Stopped into Dave's on Sunday morning after attending a wedding in town the previous evening. We are so glad we did! We both ordered the eggs benedict; they were one of the best we've ever had. It was also parent's weekend for Cazenovia College so it was a little busy however, the wait wasn't too long and we rather enjoyed a latte and a cup of coffee in the lobby area before our table was ready. Hostess seemed less than enthusiastic about being there that morning but the server made up for it with her hospitality!
Met siblings there for a birthday breakfast. Haven't been there in yrs. Everything was perfect. I ll be coming back to try lunch for sure.
We had Sunday brunch there. Good service. Short wait at around 11 am. Got sat quickly. Brenda was a fantastic server. I had a omlett which was good but thats hard to screw up HOWEVER my wife had a turkey club (which was huge) with fries which you could tell were hand cut. The fries are as good as i had riveling shake shack! Had the option of Cafe Kabul coffee or standard brew. Opted for the Peeks which was was good but STRONG!
A great diner in the heart of Cazenovia, Dave's was everything one could hope for in a breakfast experience. Friendly and attentive wait staff refilled my coffee multiple times and were happy to make adjustments to menu items. Pancakes were excellent.
Of the two Dave's location (the other in Manlius) this is my favorite! If you are gluten free this is the ONLY restaurant in the Syracuse area that offers actually GOOD toast. It's not hard or crumbly or riddled with millet and seeds. As someone that's abstained from bread for over a decade - I can tell you that the bread can make or break even the best dishes - this is the place to go if you want to experience a proper diner breakfast again.
Great food. Can't say enough of how good the food was. I mean all of our meals....egg-cellent. Friendly staff. Busy place and can understand why. Def would return here!
We LOVE Dave's Diner!! It is our home-away-from-home for the breakfast hour. The food is great, the newly renovated dining room is cozy, and the staff is always welcoming and accommodating. Don't miss this local hotspot in small town Cazenovia!
Really good little diner in the heart of Cazinovia. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Walking distance from the Brewster Inn, which we're staying at. Would absolutely recommend.
Ate here on a busy Sunday afternoon, three people in our group. We were seated after about 15 minutes and promptly waited on. Service was nothing stellar, but it got the job done. The food, though! The food was terrific. We all ordered something different (salad, burger, and Athena sandwich) and all were extremely happy with the quality and portion sizes. The only complaint was that one member inquired about desserts and our waitress replied that they don't serve dessert. On the way out, however, we saw pastries in a display. Maybe they were in a hurry to turn the table over?
The biscuits and gravy were excellent and the service was very good as well. Angela took care of everything and anticipated our needs very nicely. Just so happened she waited on us Friday night (Valentine's Day) at The Brewster. She was awesome then too!! Definitely going back.
Great little find for lunch while out doing some waterfall hikes. The food was great quality, flavor, and price. The staff was all super friendly.
This is a very busy place. You need to find parking as this is not the only business in the area. There is a good size sitting area when you first enter, where you could order drinks and hang out or wait for a table. The place is clean and the atmosphere is comfortable/ casual. We were a party of four adults and a child, having a 'goodbye for the winter' brunch. We waited approximately forty-five minutes without reservations in the sitting area before being moved in the back area to a table. It was very nice, loads of natural light. The menu featured a lot of options. The staff were friendly and prompt. The food was served in an efficient time and everyone enjoyed their meal. No complaints. Great job Dave's Diner on the home made food, service. I will definitely go again and recommend.
We came here for lunch and everything was great. We had to wait for a seat but it didn't take long. Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious. I had the turkey club with fries, my oldest had the eggs and cheese and meat sandwich on a bagel and my youngest had pigs in a blanket. Everything tasted really good! Reminds me why I love this area so much 🥰
Great breakfast experience, thank you.
Stopped on a Sunday around 11. Seated in 5 minutes. Really small but cozy and cute diner. Attached to a coffee bar and ice cream shop. Had French toast, corned beef hash, and chicken sandwich, plus beverages. All was very tasty. Just under $40 (plus tip) for 3 of us. Would go back if we lived closer.
The burger was very good, perfectly cooked. I ate it without any condiments so I could enjoy all the flavors. On my second visit got the Gobbler Melt. It's a nice and juicy sandwich. Didn't disappoint.
Probably one of the best BLTs I've ever had which had almost too much bacon. Whatever bacon you use, keep using it because for me it's all about the flavor of the bacon. Tried their blueberry lemonade - it was so tasty and refreshing with just a bit of tartness. Service was fast, but the server seemed to be having a bad day. She wasn't rude but didn't seem particularly hospitable (long shift maybe). Ordered a coffee to go on our way out. Beans were ground and brewed for the order and was very good. Will return if ever back in the area.
Great place to stop and grab breakfast Love the Irish eggs Benny
Love Dave’s Great atmosphere, very good food! You can’t eat there and not be in a good mood
This is by far our favorite diner to come to. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere and people are wonderful.
I've never had a bad meal here. The farva meltl is the best hamburger I've ever had in my entire life as well. The chicken sandwich is also amazing. There will definitely be a wait on the weekend so plan ahead. Highly recommend!
The homemade corned beef hash is absolutely incredible! It's filled with succulent shards of corned beef. It's bursting with flavor and fried with a slight crisp. Easily the best corned beef hash I have ever had.
Spent time in Cazenovia several years back, had breakfast at Dave's every day. Looking forward to next week when we travel back. Sit at the counter - watching the chef staff is poetry in motion!
We just love going here. The food has always been great and the staff is great. We have had breakfast as well as lunch and always walk away satisfied.
Great breakfast...eggs, bacon, pancakes prepared to perfection...an outstanding breakfast...best we have ever had. Real, 100 % pure maple syrup as a bonus. Our first ever visit to Dave's , but certainly not our last whenever we are in the area again. Friendly, accommodating staff kept our coffee cups full and met our every need with a smile...a true pleasure dining here.
First time here at Dave’s diner and I think it’s my new favorite! Every single person from the hostess to all of the women in there working were amazing!! Lily was our server, very attentive and polite The food absolutely incredible! Had the special a Mr. Clover Clover… A three egg omelette with homemade hash and Swiss, with hash on the side and Italian toast absolutely hit the spot! It was amazing the taste, the freshness, and overall appearance of the food. Definitely will be returning to try some other items. It all looks so good.
10 of us from 1 year old to 70+ years enjoyed a great BREAKFAST at Dave's Dinner this morning. Food, service, cleanliness were top-notch. Thank you for a well run restaurant- we certainly enjoyed it.
Got the veggie omelette with added ham, and it comes with toast and homefries. I have relatively low expectations for diners, but Dave's definitely exceeded them. The food was very flavourful, and not overly oily or salty as happens at most diners. Good omelette with well cooked veggies and ham, fresh rye toast, and tasty homefries. Capped off with a good iced Americano. 4.5 overall.
Cozy place to grab some food. Definitely does not have a diner feel, more like a cafe. The eggs benedict and home fries were very good. Great place to hang out for just coffee too.
Drinks and snacks were good. Service was friendly but disorganized. The person who accepted the order left and left filling the order to someone else. The order was incomplete but when I alerted her, showing my receipt, she fixed it.
Nice hometown, informal, friendly dining at reasonable prices. May have to wait 15 or 20 minutes to be seated at busy times.
Cute diner with a brunch feel. Some wait to get in and a bit disappointed in how few options were vegetarian. The servers were amazing!
Great staff, quick service. They have a very large menu, serve breakfast all day, a ice cream stand and a separate section called the Common Grounds enjoy their coffee bar. Whatever you are in the moods for they've got it!
Homemade soup was excellent and Ruben was also delicious. Reasonable prices, attentive service although you may have a little wait during peak lunch time. Portions are large. They make their own fries. Free WIFI.
Coffee was good. Service was fast and friendly.
Great find in downtown Cazenovia. The garbage homies were amazing! And be sure to add a side of toast. Nice place with a coffee shop in the front lobby and an ice cream stand at the back.
Updating my review after a much better experience: The Greek Gyro omlette was amazing. The traditional breakfast items were very good as well. And the mocha iced coffees were very tasty. Prior review :furnishings are very nice. But the food and service were both sub-par. (Pancakes over-cooked on one side, bacon was very fatty, breakfast wrap was bland). Server never checked in after food was brought out and never offered to top up the coffee.
Nice atmosphere, good food and generous portions. Poached eggs were a bit undercooked but the overall experience was great. Servers were quite attentive. Comment: Having worked in a kitchen before it seemed like the pass was a bit mismanaged - it should have someone dedicated to it when it gets busy on weekends.
All in all, Dave's Diner is pretty good. We've been there 4x over 3 years for breakfast. Everytime the eggs and/ pancakes/French toast were tasty -- nothing special, but good. However, every single time the sausage was not edible. Comes out lukewarm, spots of cold in it, appearance is almost uncooked, not brown, not appealing. Bacon was mixed -- 2x was cooked perfectly, 2 times undercooked. Service is always super sweet and friendly and fast. I would be willing for it to take longer to get the simple breakfast order cooked properly. We will keep going in the hopes they make a few small improvements.
I've been living out of the area for a while in New York City and I'm not sure how one place can make food taste so delicious. It's not necessarily their technique it's just a freshness of the food. I mean all I had was a chicken salad I'm not exactly sure how an onion can taste so unbelievably fresh. Overall the service is pretty good. And welcoming even though I'm black and not from the area. Peaceful place to eat after a long boat ride
Nice cozy place. The staff was very friendly. Let me start with if your out of something let the customer know when you hand them the menu. We where told they where out of lobster when we where placing our order. So we had to go back and choose another item very very disappointing! This also put us behind others that where able to place their orders. That being said.... the hamburger was cooked as requested and the sandwich very tasted. We also had the home made blueberry lemon aid. We would defiantly go back.
Great homemade food with very good service - even for the large group that we had for lunchtime. I had the frittata, which was huge! Everyone else ordered lunch, but since they still served breakfast, I was all in for this Syracuse breakfast staple. The restaurant is in the back of the coffee shop, entrance is the same for both. The restaurant filled up quickly at lunch time, get there a little early to grab a seat.
Delightful historical establishment! Food well done. We enjoyed the spinach and pepper omelet, berry covered waffle and eggs. Quick service, tasty food. We did not have to wait for seating. However there is ample activities if needed- a piano and several games. Only downside is the restroom is singular occupancy. After breakfast, we ventured across the street to the farmers market.
Dave's Diner is small. The wait time is between 15 minutes and 30 minutes, depending on time of day. If you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. Food was worth the wait. All the staff was friendly and efficient.
Good food, sizable portions, reasonable price. Casual, comfortable dining environment. The eggs Benedict ($13) was great; served with home fries (can add onions and peppers). The chili cheese wagyu burger (daily special $15) was good; served with a side of French fries. Good enough to return to.
I ordered a coffee. I paid 5+ dollars for said coffee. I should've went to Stewart's and paid 2.00 for a coffee. It was good but not any better or worse than Stewart's!
Good food but reallllly wierd/annoying policy of not seating people 'until the kitchen catches up'. There are empty tables, let us sit and at least enjoy drinks while we wait instead of having to stand in waiting area!
Food good...but service not great. Not sure how other tables seated after us got their omelets before us. Waitress detached...too bad. We re locals and our fav place just closed....no effort to earn our loyalty
Sorry. Nothing too special. Mediocre taste, blah interior and very expensive for what you are served. I had 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pieces of very thin, flabby in their cook, fried potatoes I didn't order and blah coffee. Cost $9+, plus tip.
My eggs were undercooked (poached - whites not set), the corned beef hash wasn't nearly as good as it used to be, and I had to stir my tea with a fork (no spoons in the cutlery/napkin roll). That said, you can get a decent omelette or simple sandwich for a reasonable price, and in Caz there aren't that many alternatives.
The coffee is good! Service was fine. It's not that this place isn't good, it's just that it's about what you would get at a chain, although the decor is much nicer. I was surprised they had no fresh fruit at all in any of the breakfast options, or in fact anywhere on the menu. Several people had recommended this place--again, it's not bad or terrible, but I just would prefer to have better quality food for the price so am unlikely to return.
Great place for breakfast for the family. Good food, prices ok, a big variety. It can be very busy on the weekend, so plan a little bit of a wait.
Lovely staff but not-so-lovely food. Got the eggs benedict and the English muffin was burnt. No tomato. Coffee was bleh. 2 stars for the great people and cute atmosphere.
It was the wait time for the food after ordering that was not good. 40 minutes and our waitress was rolling silverware in napkins instead of getting our food that was on the warming plate. The food was nothing special. First time there. Will not try it again.
Scrambled eggs were like rubber, sausage links were overcooked and tasteless, bacon was almost raw, pancakes were delicious.
Ate here for the first time, I wasn’t impressed. The eggs Benedict was ok, the hollandaise sauce was cold but otherwise it was fine. I was excited to try the home fries as they hype them on the menu because they’re made with salt potatoes. Unfortunately they still had no flavor and they were slightly hard. I also tried their garbage version with peppers, bacon, bbq and cheese. They were horrible. The whole combo just didn’t work, the bbq was tangy and to me they were inedible. My husband got pancakes and bacon and eggs. He said it tasted fine, pancakes are like any other place and the portion was small.
There was a 15 min wait so it was no problem. But they switched lists and didnt transfer our name so it became a 45 min wait. Our food came out fries were burnt, eggs not fully cooked (scrambled eggs) the grilled cheese was burnt and we had to try and flag our waitress down twice to get the check. We only saw her twice didnt even check to see if our food was ok. Then there was nothing but the sound of talking and a blender sound from the barista corner
edit: fine ig i’ll elaborate…dave. food took 30mins. said it was a 20min wait for seating…took a hour. and the worst toast i’ve ever had. quit replying to reviews and start workin
We tried going there for lunch but we walked in with our 2 year grandchild and were told it would be about 10-15 minute wait. BUT they proceded to seat the couple that came in at the same time as out trio! I asked why they couldnt seat us but could seat the other people? She said because we needed a high chair and i said no we dont she can sit in a chair. She shrugged her shoulders and sat the other people! I looked into the section that was open(3/4 of restaurant was empty) and there 4 tables open, one was a 6 seater! Apparently we were too dark skinned to eat at their restaurant! Or they dont like kids! Either way I'll never go there again 👎
Was not impressed with the server my boyfriend and I had, she was passive aggressive about us only ordering one cup of coffee, and took at least 10-15 minutes to take our order when the restaurant wasn't busy, and just walked around wasting our time. This isn't the first bad experience with this same waitress we've had at Daves. The food is excellent and worth the trip, but the service isn't worth the hassle of coming.
My boyfriend generously paid for a party of 6 of us for a bill of $50. Food was cold, but not too horrible. We had to wait to be seated when there were tables open. Waited awhile for our food. Ended up not tipping and we got followed out of the diner where we got greeted by another waitress (but not our waitress) basically yelling at us for not tipping. It was an older blonde woman. I’m not sure if she was a waitress or not.
Food was average. Service was poor, waitress was rude wouldn't let us sit at a table when there was many available. We didn't want coffee so i asked for a glass of ice water she brought out a 4 ounce plasic cup of water which is ridiculous. My breakfast only had one slice of toast when I asked why I was told I need to ask for the second slice because customers wasted it....Really? Sausage was cold and not cooked through. Very disappointed!
My daughter called me today and was so upset by her experience. There was 9 people total and not 13 like they are saying...this was not about buying lunch, this was truly disgusting that a restaurant would do this to anyone, special needs or not. If the person who wrote back had a special needs child... they would of handled the situation much different than it was. My daughter was respectful at the moment and left. Very sad. Individuals were very upset, they get this treatment most everywhere they go and my daughter expected different from a mom and pop diner. Sad.
This is the most discriminating place I have ever been to. We sat down to eat and some of the disabled people I support brought their own lunch(but a lot of us were buying) and we all sat down and they came over and basically told us to get out. Mind you they already gave us menus and they already started to eat. They made us feel almost like criminals and very uncomfortable. She didnt say sorry for the inconvenience or anything remotely like that. Will not come back outside of work hours.
For the price you'd think you were at a 5 star restaurant and they can't even get the food right... the empty plate were because we were hungry hence why we were there. The home fries came back out mushy and my omelet didn't even have meat on one side. You can ask my server. I wasn't happy
