Opinions de Sami Sumeli Georgian European Restaurant Cedar Park
What an absolute gem for us to find! My husband and I were visiting for the weekend and discovered this place around the corner from our hotel. We tried the Khachapuri, khinkali special (a combo of all 4 options), and the chakhohbili - the food was incredibly flavorful, filling, and just all around delicious. I definitely recommend bringing friends with you to share the food because you’ll certainly have leftovers otherwise. Our server was very helpful in offering recommendations that embodied authentic Georgian cuisine. Service was great and we will absolutely be back when we’re in the area. Sami Sumeli is a must stop.
Such a lovely place! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The khachapuri is truly the best in town: soft, cheesy, and dangerously addictive. The Georgian eggplant is almost as good as the one I make at home (and that’s saying a lot 😉). Great service, cozy atmosphere, and nice Georgian music that really completes the experience. A must-visit if you love Georgian-European cuisine!
We had an amazing experience at Sami Sumeli! The food was absolutely delicious — the beef Khinkali dumplings were perfectly seasoned and juicy, the Adjarian Khachapuri was rich, warm, and comforting, and the Beef Lula Kebab was full of flavor and cooked just right. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service made everything even better. Special thanks to Olga, who took such great care of us and made our visit truly memorable. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Georgian and European dishes done right!
This was my first time here, let alone eating Georgian cuisine. Was excited to try something new and was not disappointed. And it's so close to my home! I went during Super Bowl Sunday, so it was empty inside, to my benefit. The decor set a nice vibe and the music set the atmosphere well. I was seated at the bar and served by a great guy (sorry! I completely forgot to ask for your name! He was blonde with short hair!). He helped give some suggestions on the menu for someone unfamiliar with Georgian cuisine (super patient with my attempts at pronunciations lol) and also recommended a nice flight of wine! He filled the glasses to the BRIM! Im not a wine drinker but I thought I'd give it a go after he gave me the history lesson of Georgian wine being super influential. I wasn't disappointed but I DID realize how much of a lightweight I am really quickly lol I ordered the Adjarian khachapuri (bread boat with molten cheese, butter and egg yolk inside) and the Chkmeruli (creamy garlic chicken stew). The bread boat was AMAZING! Super messy but 100% worth it. Could easily see myself coming back for just that for lunch. Was way bigger than I expected. The Schkmeruli was steaming hot and packed with chicken. Mine was served alongside rice and was recommended to just dump the rice in. Very hearty and satisfying. Wish I had that during the winter storm lol Overall, I was very satisfied with the food, vibes, and service. Will def be back.
Loved this sweet new restaurant ❤️ It was our first real exposure to Georgian food and we loved it- we ordered the Kharcho beef soup which was both hearty and light somehow, as well as the DECADENT khachapuri. The space is peaceful and beautifully designed, the staff was so welcoming and kind. We will definitely return with our kids because we think they’ll love this too! Plus so much more on the menu to try—
Amazing Georgian-European restaurant in Austin! Delicious food with rich flavors, beautifully presented dishes, and excellent cocktails. Cozy, stylish atmosphere and very friendly, attentive service. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend Sami Sumeli Georgian European Restaurant for authentic Georgian cuisine with a modern European touch. We’ll definitely be back!
Great place to relax. Perfect for meeting friends, family time, or small family celebrations. Nice atmosphere with well-chosen lighting and music. The staff is polite and attentive. Special thanks to Alisa, Margo at the reception for being very courteous and attentive to my requests, and especially to Tamerlan for his friendliness, professionalism, and excellent service. All the dishes we ordered were amazing — from khinkali to shashlik, everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back!
I visited Sami Sumeli during the weekend and had an amazing experience! The food was delicious, and the service was great as well. The staff was very welcoming and kind, and our food came out quickly and freshly made. The dishes were clearly authentic Georgian food and tasted incredible. Among the dishes we tried were Khachapuri, tomato soup, and khinkali, and everything was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place.
It’s been a good while since I’ve walked away excited about the food. The food was so delicious and fresh. We got the phali mix, adjarian khachkapuri (cheese boat with egg), and the beef kebab. All three were so good. The phali mix is all vegetarian and very fresh. Definitely get the adjarian khachkapuri and the kebab is a large portion. Service was fantastic. I would love for this place to succeed and become a local staple.
This place is a true hidden gem. I’m completely obsessed and I can’t wait to recommend it to all my friends and family. I’m gonna shout from the rooftops how much i love this restaurant. I love cuisine from all over the world and I’m so thrilled to find a place like this, because I’m not sure there’s another one in the Austin area. Service was excellent, food was delicious, wine list is great, and they’re knowledgeable about my gluten allergy. I can’t wait to come back. 2026 New Year’s resolution: become a regular here 😂
Delicious food and great flavors! The eggplant rolls with cream cheese, herbs and walnuts so fresh and perfectly spiced. The chicken skewers were juicy and cooked just right, and the mushroom dumplings were full of flavor. The honey cake was a lovely, not-too-sweet treat.
This easily and quickly became my husband and I’s favorite restaurant. If you want scratch made, delicious, and authentic food, this will be your new favorite place as well. The flavors were delicious and thoughtful. And unlike most restaurants that buy premade food to reheat, you won’t leave feeling gross and heavy. Can’t wait to come back (in fact I’m still here while I write this that’s how much I loved it!)
As a foodie who grew up half my life in the Philippines and half in California, and traveling all over the world, I have been exposed to many many different cuisines. Georgian food was something entirely new for me so I was extremely excited to try it. The first time I tried it I had take out and it was really delicious, a lot of flavors/seasoning that were unfamiliar to me, some used in a way that were new to me. The second time I tried it I ate it there and it was even better than the first time because we tried it fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant, eating their food was like eating a home cooked meal which is honestly rare when eating out. I’m excited to bring friends here to try something they’ve never had before. I really hope this restaurant does well and stays open because I’m adding it to my go to restaurants. I look forward to trying more. ◡̈ Here are the dishes I’ve tried: Phali Mix - a trio of vegetable spreads - all great Adjarian Khachapuri - a cheese filled bread boat, definitely a must try Beef Khinkali - extra large soup dumplings, wow so much flavor and really fun to eat (they will explain the traditional way to eat this) - it is very different from the Chinese soup dumplings Shkmeruli - I had no idea what to expect with this and was delightedly surprised, I really enjoyed it because it had a lot of dill, I will say for being described as creamy garlic sauce, i couldn’t taste much garlic, it is cream based however the term creamy is generally described for things that are thicker and rich, this was more brothy. I loved it regardless! Chicken and beef shashlik - their version of grilled meats, seasoned in a way that is new to me. The flavor had a lot of depth. They use sumac on the rice too which is something I’m used to in Persian cuisine. Both were cooked perfectly. The beef was soo tender (we asked for medium rare) Mini Honey Cake - really unique and was my favorite dessert Karmeli Cake and Prague Cake - also worth trying *the photos I shared were taken after we started digging in and eating 😂*
Menu is so exciting and has many healthy options, especially good vegetarian options, everything tasted fresh with no random sauces. Being new to Georgian cuisine, got a good experience and taste. Service was super fast. Restaurant has good interiors and music. Dessert combinations are so unique and tasted great. Only one set back is with khinkali, the upper part was too thick and would have tasted great with a dip.
Found this place on instagram literally by accident and we knew we have to go. Me & my family have been to Georgia in 2022. This place is really good! Khinkali with pork and beef are amazing! Definitely a must-have. If you never had a khachapuri before - this is the place for it. Don’t forget to taste their wines - it’s pretty different from the ones you can get from store. Georgia is popular for their wine 🍷. Wish all the best to this restaurant and we will definitely be back!
My husband and I regularly consumed khachapuri at least once a month prior to moving to the area, and was immediately thrilled to find out that, not only was a Georgian restaurant opening nearby, they would also serve khachapuri. We walked into the restaurant with no reservations and were immediately seated. Ambiance: The place was modern yet cozy, with a lovely albeit unusual combination of interior colors that I found interesting but comfortable. Service: The service was nice & amicable, albeit we were forgotten for a bit, which makes sense because they were busy. Food: We ordered potatoes & herring, mushroom khinkali, eggplant roll, khachapuri, a couple of Georgian wines, Prague cake, espresso & green tea. • Potatoes & herring - This dish was easily our favorite! The combination of flavors reminded me of a snack I ate a lot in my childhood. The waitress commented that it’s not often that Americans order this dish, which, I like to think, speaks to our adventurous palates. • Eggplant rolls - This was good and well-cooked. However, I wish the toppings were also incorporated in the cream cheese filling. It has an overwhelmingly cream cheese taste & loses a lot of its more subtle flavors in the process. • Mushroom khinkali - I thoroughly enjoy great takes in mushroom and this was a thoughtfully prepared piece of mushroom dish. The dumpling dough was almost well-cooked (could do with a half a minute more) but was overall pleasant to eat. • Khachapuri - This was certainly higher quality khachapuri than we’ve ever had before. The cheese & runny yolk were well-balanced & played perfectly together in terms of both texture & flavor. The bread was so fresh & fantastically done. I’m literally salivating at the thought of the khachapuri. • Prague cake - The base cake was a tad but dry but was alleviated by the chocolate sauce & a generous heap of frosting as a topping and in between layers. • Espresso - Good but nothing to write home about. Perfect to consume with cake. Final Thoughts: Suffice to say, this place has been added to our rotation of restaurants and I’m already raring to go back.

WOW. Outstanding, flavorful Georgian cuisine. Charming decor, excellent service. The “cheese boat” is an all-star, but there’s a lot to explore in the menu. We are so excited this spot opened and can’t wait to try more dishes.
Sami Sumeli is an absolute treasure—the first Georgian restaurant in town, and it’s already setting the bar incredibly high. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a colorful, warm ambiance that immediately makes you feel at home. It’s cozy and inviting, with a relaxed, quiet vibe (for now!), but something tells me that won’t last long once word gets out. The food? Out of this world. Every dish my husband I tried was a flavor-packed journey to Georgia. The Adjarian Khachapuri—a boat-shaped bread filled with gooey cheese and topped with a perfectly runny egg—was the stuff of dreams: rich, comforting, and downright addictive. The Chakhohbili (a traditional stewed chicken dish) was another standout—aromatic, tender, and soul-warming in all the right ways. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and filled with the kind of heart you can’t fake. Sami Sumeli isn’t just serving food—it’s sharing culture and tradition, one delicious bite at a time. Can’t wait to come back and bring more friends before this place gets packed (because it absolutely will). Don’t sleep on it!
So happy I stopped by for lunch today. The food was very fresh and full of flavor. I can’t wait to come back and try the shashlik and other dishes!
Amazing service, quick, friendly and attentive. The food is so delicious. The khachapuri is absolutely my favorite. The sulguni cheese inside it’s probably what heaven tastes like :). Every bite is so delicious. The herring portion is way too small for the price in my opinion but it is delicious. Kebab is flavorful and melts in your mouth. Khinkali is an experience in itself and tastes amazing. Second cake on the menu I think is better than honey cake 🍰 . Must try that yellow tea, it’s so good. Definitely one of my favorite places now. Ps unfortunately last night was a little disappointing. The dishes were coming out one at a time and we had to watch each person eat separately:(. The soda was flat. The chicken portion was too small, he left hungry:(. I will go there for lunch again but dinner probably not very soon. I am keeping 5 stars bc food is truly delicious.
Wow! This place is great! I had no idea what Georgian food was like, but when our dinner group suggested it I was curious. The photos of the food looked good so I’m in! I got the chouhobilli (I’m sure I slaughtered that name) which was a tomatoey chicken soup. LOTS of chicken and LOTS of flavor! Very filling and healthy dish. Mike got the dumplings and David got the beef skewers. The skewers were amazingly good beef steak, cooked perfectly as far as we were concerned (they didn’t ask his preference, but it was medium with some pink) and they were 5 huge chunks of beef along with onions, etc Cindy had the lamb skewers which were ground lamb but seasoned and cooked well. We got an order of the bread boat with cheese and a fried egg as an appetizer for the table. We were all interested in the dish but didn’t feel right about a bread bowl full of cheese as our entree so it was perfect as a shareable app. Cindy has been taking Russian language classes and she got to practice speaking it a bit with our waitress. Besides being authentic, the service was perfect. She explained what was in the various dishes and sometimes how to eat them (the dumplings and the cheese bread came with instructions) and she was always there when we needed something but not intrusive. We got drinks, apps, entree and dessert (OMG try the honey cake. Small but delicious!) for around $50pp
The food was very good and filling. Tarkhun was enough to last the entire dinner. I ordered kharcho, flat bread and khinkali and I'm a smaller person so I wasn't able to finish the khinkali 🤭 but I do appreciate the server Alisa for her help and showing me how it's eaten. She had a khinkali toy to demonstrate. I should've asked if there was a khinkali toy for sale, I would've bought one. She was thoughtful and asked if I wanted to try Georgian wine since Georgia invented wine.

Amazing ambience at this very unique restaurant. The dessert was a standout! The prices were steep though, which made it difficult to try more dishes. It would be great if they have a tasting menu to let new diners try out more of Georgian cuisine. We didn't try the alcohol but they have wine and cocktails from Georgia.
We really wanted to love this spot, but unfortunately, it fell short. The food lacked flavor, and the service was consistently slow throughout the night. I don’t enjoy leaving negative feedback, but we likely won't be returning
The food is absolutely tasteless it feels like a parody of Georgian cuisine! I strongly recommend avoiding the khachapuri and khinkali. And the prices are just outrageous on top of that… Our server, Alisa, was completely unfit for her job; I was very disappointed with the service, and so were my friends. I’m giving two stars only because I managed to satisfy my hunger basically the same result I would’ve gotten from making myself a simple sandwich. You won’t find any enjoyment in the food here! And if you want to try real Georgian cuisine, you’re better off going to a restaurant that actually specializes in it.
My husband and I love Georgian cuisine, but your restaurant can hardly be called Georgian. The interior lacks any significant Georgian theme, which is immediately disappointing. The food was an absolute letdown. The khachapuri seemed to have no cheese in the dough at all. The kebab was terribly overcooked, and the rice served with it felt like store-bought, two-minute instant rice — not fluffy, but a sticky, clumped mess. The khinkali were enormous and completely lacked the characteristic broth, especially the mushroom ones — how is that even possible? They were incredibly inconvenient to eat. As for the classic Georgian dish, chkmeruli, chicken in a creamy garlic sauce, it was not a sauce but some tasteless soup with under-salted and overcooked chicken breast. Overall, we absolutely do not recommend your restaurant and are deeply disappointed.

I was excited to go here. The blini were tiny and came with a disproportionate amount of caviar that we weren’t going to eat with nothing other than a big soup spoon. The khinkali were store bought 100% and not homemade. The service was fine. Drinks, terrible. We were really looking forward to coming here. We ordered 2 drinks total, 4 khinkali and an appetizer. We spent $88. Outrageous prices, disappointing food and a place I won’t be coming back to. I DON’T RECOMMEND.
