We loved everything! It was a five star meal and reasonably priced. Please go get the wagyu hot rock and the yellowtail nigiri. You will fall in love. 🥰
I absolutely love coming here! All of the employees are very pleasant and personable. On top of that, the sushi is amazing, every single time. The overall vibe is perfect. This spot easily ties with my favorite sushi restaurant. Definitely stop in.
Great local spot for sushi and fine adult drinks. Wait staff was super friendly and establishment very well kept. Sushi was absolutely delicious and quite her variety of adult cocktails.
Some of the best sushi rolls I’ve had, very fresh and such a nice variety. The Chimichanga roll was my fave, perfect amount of kick. Red star items on the front of the menu were half price during happy hour so the four of us had 6 plates of food plus an appetizer of Gyoza for $50 before tip. Amazing food at amazing value! Service was fast and very attentive.
What a wonderful place. Had a delicious meal with coworkers. The server was amazing and recommended the Yumi roll. Definitely worth it and will be back.
I found the service to be really good. I was either extremely hungry or the two rolls we had were exceptionally good. I will definitely come back.
Fresh and creative sushi served in a fun, festive ambiance! Excellent service and great happy hour specials. Try the sashimi platter, the sunshine roll (it has fresh lemon on it, which is so unique and good!) or the rainbow roll — all are top notch. Also, this is the only place I’ve found where they serve fresh, raw wasabi! It’s so delicious and strong. Order it, for sure.
We had such a good experience here! Our Server Tamara was great and helped make this experience great! She throughly explained the menu options and was so patient with our indecisiveness! The options for Restaurant Week were so delicious! 😋 I highly recommend trying the Wagu Beef Gyoza 🥟 and Main Lobster 🦞 Tail Udon as they were our favorite!
Did the downtown ocotillo trifecta in one week starting with Rock Lobster. We’ve actually experienced their teppanyaki dining before and it was excellent. This was 1/2 off sushi Monday! Food was great, presentation was nice (loved the lollipop sushi dish!). Lighting could be a little dimmer at dinner time but overall was a pleasant, not super loud, great sake evening!
The sunshine roll and Da bomb lived up to epectations. The strawberry butterfish roll was completely new to me and it was tasty. Definitely a unique experience with that one.... The outside seating area was very nice and upscale. Will definitely have to come back in the winter... Fast service as well.
This place was fantastic honestly probably one of the better sushi I've had in the greater Phoenix area I would not say the best but undoubtedly the best in this general area. The service was good, price was a little bit high but not too bad.
- Half off ALL rolls Mondays, and Thursday- Happy Hour: 3pm - 6pm, SUNDAY all day (includes food and drink specials) Always great eating here, the food is amazing, good music, and great locale to bring a partner, or work colleague. Has a good mix of people here for business, or pleasure. Many people are relaxing and staying for awhile. Generally looking to pay over 10$ for any menu item but with 1/2 off rolls you can eat like a buffet. Nd why feel guilt, it's only sushi, take some home! Regards, David
I've been on a margarita kick lately, and did not expect to get that here. I did! And it was great. Yes, you can have a margarita with your vegetarian roll. They also accepted my request to cut the pieces smaller, which is a must for me.
Beautiful place, wonderful staff ask for Ashley or Jessica they are very hard workers. I frequent Rock Lobster and every time I go, I have a great time. I highly recommend Rock Lobster. Also great location for a date night. Also included are some photos to help.
This place is GREAT....PreMothersDay out with the moms.. AMAZING FRESH we had three orders of shrimp tempura, five rolls all AHH MAZING... Garic chili Edamame Soooo Gooood... pork Gyoza yummy.. the WICKED ROLL .... listen..fried ice cream.. whew chile..it was like a churro filled with ice cream..
Really good, high quality sushi. A little on the pricey end but that's to be expected of course. Definitely go during happy hour when the prices are half off! It's worth it!
The food was so incredible you don't want to stop! The teppanyaki chef was entertaining and had a great sense of humor. If you come here once you'll go again. And again. And again.
Ever since stumbling upon this place last year during work travel it’s become a consistent place we continue to come to. 50% off rolls on Mondays and Thursdays for amazing sushi is such an amazing deal for high quality sushi. Super recommend this place.
The sushi here was amazing.. All day Happy hour on Sundays. The service was amazing and the drinks are nice and strong. I will be definitely be coming back again.
Gustavo made this experience for my husband and myself on my birthday. We started with amazing green tea shots made by the beautiful bartender and we were treated as VIP guests by the awesome chef! He was an artist. The rest of the staff were very attentive and you can tell that everyone at this establishment loved their jobs. It was such a refreshing experience being so many places are so fast to pass off their guests as another ticket number. I really felt as though we were valued here and it was much appreciated. Thank you to the staff. Thank you to the gorgeous bartender. And thank you very much Gustavo. We will see you soon our new friends! Our new favorite sushi place!!!!
Happy hour all day Sunday. Tasty rolls.
Great sushi and quick service! Great visit overall.
Teppanyaki with Rudy is more than a good time. It's the only place my daughter will eat steak. It was great celebrating my wife's birthday. Delicious.
My wife is obsessed with this place and quite literally orders it two times a week. The Poppin Roll is AMAZING absolutely delicious. The staff is always friendly and the food overall is always fresh and tasty. I highly recommend Rock Lobster
This place rocks from the a minute you walk in the door till the minute you walk out. The place is clean, cozy, comfortable and intimate. The service is impeccable! What teamwork! everyone is friendly and happy or appears to be happy to be working there. And the food is exceptional. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. my nine-year-old nephew said I give this price five stars😊and who can beat happy hour! All day
Passed by this place a bunch of times and finally decided to give it a shot and I am very happy I did! The flavors here are very good. I will say the ramen I got was a bit oily but the wine was lovely (recommended by our waitress) and paired well with the meal. Frequent service, not very crowded and a lounge atmosphere out on their patio. Also, grab the gyoza!
We drove right through the Haboob of 8/25 all the way from Anthem in N Phoenix to go to RL’s last BOGO night!!!! Love RL and will miss BOGO mondays!!
Good food fun place to eat. Lots of music memorabilia to look at and a contest to win some.
Love the update from Rock lobster. The menu is better too. Had chicken ramen - everyone enjoyed their sushi. The staff was really nice.
Small little place. There were not a lot of people there when we were there. It is quaint. Our sushi rolls were delicious. Margaritas were good. For us it was wonderful. Our server was kind and efficient.
Super cute inside, great service excellent sushi really beautifully prepared. Would go back for sure! Veggie tempura is a stand out
Everything was great... we had a lot of Sashimi and it was first class! I will definitely return when I am back in Arizona..
We love this place! Servings are a perfect size. Definitely try the chef special. He served some great surprises. We usually dine around 3pm during the week, nice and quiet.
This is our go to Sushi place in Chandler. Close to our house, plenty of parking, great location and atmosphere. There's a great wine selection. We love lunch happy hour specials. Edamame, Pot Stickers, California and Crunchy rolls for lunch hit the high spot. Mickey, manager, is great to speak with and is a people person. Tam, waitress, is awesome,. Every experience we've had has been great.
Love it here! We have been a couple of times and have never been disappointed! The outdoor seating is still perfect with the weather! Happy hour is our jam, its the best time to try new sushi rolls and drinks, but a classic to choose will always be beer and sushi. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming! They get very busy later in the day so happy hour is a win win.
The food was good and filling. Service could have been better. We ordered water to drink and I felt like the servers did not like that we didn't order any additional drinks. The portions were good. They do have food for those who are not into sushi/seafood. The atmosphere was inviting.
I really enjoyed teppanyaki with fire show. I ate hibachi steak and chicken combo with fried rice. It was perfect taste(not salty).
Came here from a Groupon we got as a gift. first impressions its beautiful setup I love their lantern lights it nice and dark inside makes a good spot for date night if you are eating sushi call for reservations. Food was amazing and drinks but service was sub par for it not being busy and in the middle of the work week it took about 30 mins for out food to come out. There was a mix up. Our server wasnt the most attentive so it took awhile for us to order another round of drinks and sushi. We are willing to give this place another shot since food was amazing.
I really like the environment. The rolls were pretty good. Nothing special, some unique flavors here and there. Really good sushi is hard to find in Phoenix for some reason. But yeah. Pretty good over all.
Food tastes decent. Highly recommend the Poppin Roll. The chicken fried rice portion is quite a decent size, but the flavor just isn’t there. The restaurant is definitely geared toward a certain demographic, however, so you can definitely find food that tastes just as good if not better at a better value elsewhere. Service/attitude of work staff: average. Didn’t feel welcomed but also didn’t get hate crimed. You can open the door for one of the staff members or smile at them & they’ll pretend you don’t exist.
We use to go to the spot alllllll the time! We actually use to live across the street! This was one of our main go to happy hour places because on Sunday they have all day happy hour. Well now we moved about 30-35 minutes away. Yesterday we decided to make the drive, and we when sat down we immediately knew a lot has changed since we been there. The menus were completely different, they the vibe was different, they went from having HUGE happy hour selection to only have 5 rolls on there. They use to have the most delicious wagyu burger I mean it was chef kiss and it’s also gone, prices sky rocked. Have you ever been so excited to go somewhere or to eat something and then when you get there it’s not want you were expecting and it completely throws off your taste buds? I really didn’t even want to eat there any more but we made the drive and stayed to eat. Also the waiter was kind of arguing with us about the burger and told us we had the wrong restaurant. No sir. On the contrary now we know we don’t have to make the drive because there isn’t anything that separates them from the rest now.
I've enjoyed RL for years flying to visit family in AZ and then moving here in 2021. Brought me family in who were visiting and was very disappointed for the first time. An off menu item was no longer available because of chef change. Service was slow and it wasn't super busy. May need to check out a new sushi place for a minute.
I recommend you bring your own ice. They charge 3 bucks a glass. Yep, for ice. PER GLASS. THREE DRINKS, 50 BUCKS PLUS TIP. 9$ OF IT FOR ICE..
Rock Lobster was up there with the best. This was our go to place sushi restaurant. Great Atmosphere & great service. Happy Hour menu is so well planned out. I have had to chsnge my review from 5 star as coming here 4 months of the year have seen a huge decline in the atmosphere & food. What a shame. This place was & could be a goldmine. I hope they manage to claw it back up there.
The bad reviews are warranted. Service was deplorable. Rude, unfriendly, curt and absent most of the time with a horrible attitude. How can a restaurant employ people like that? Just horrible. Clearly our waiter didn’t want to be there and should quit. Food was lackluster and with some dishes, downright disappointing. The cucumber salad was really sliced pickles as if the customer wouldn’t know. What a joke. Sushi was no better than grocery store sushi, some pieces looked dirty. Sushi didn’t come with ginger or wasabi and the “waiter” acted like I was bothering him for asking for them despite the fact it should have come with my sushi. Miso soup was fine but had too much seaweed as filler and not enough broth. California roll was sloppily made as if a novice made it for the first time and the pieces fell apart. Slow and rude service ruined an already average meal. Restaurant was freezing!! Too cold to be comfortable. Music was horrible and blaring so loudly that we couldn’t hear one another. Wouldn’t return nor recommend. They’re trying to be something they’re not in a suburban area with seniors and families not 20 year-olds and executed this concept poorly. And their so called Happy Hour saves you all of $0.50 and can’t be used with a Groupon.
Went with a group of co-workers yesterday. I am giving 2 stars because the service was good (not great because of not being able to fully explain what's later in this review). I ordered the Korean BBQ lunch, where's the beef?, was the question. When I order Korean BBQ I expect more than 4 bites of beef. The food was okay (see how the trend is going down). The bill came and well, the P206 surcharge that was 24% of bill, wth. My lunch was $12, the P206 surcharge was $2.91. In front of work group had to question this and the waitress explained it is company policy and not the gratuity. That the company started this surcharge to offset the costs from proposition 206. I felt bad for her having to explain this to our group of 14 people and not really knowing or totally understanding the purpose or how they came to the amount. It was after I found out that everyone's surcharge was different and the meals all within $1 dollar or so of one another. A Co-worker also ordered a $12 lunch and his was $.24, (2% of bill, wth, doesn't make sense!). He was wondering what the fuss was over because it was basically a quarter, lol. When he found out that most of us were charged a few dollars each, he agreed that it was ridiculous. When I order, I want to know up front what I am paying, I want to make the choice...you don't charge me after the fact with no warning and then tax the surcharge on top of it! Won't be back, bad business model!
Used to be one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants a few years ago. Recently the quality of salmon on the nigiri was just okay. Water glasses were dirty. Water tasted out of the tap. Hostess seen chatting with waitress towards the back of the restaurant for several minutes before we were seated in an empty restaurant. Server was attentive. BUT then as I sat & looked up, I couldn’t finish my food. The thick layer of DIRT and dust covering the entire ceiling ventilation system was disgusting! Going over the sushi station and I’m sure the entire kitchen, sprinkling into the air and I can only imagine into the food! Even if you have an open space with doors and windows open, please clean your restaurant.
Overall, the food at Rock Lobster was enjoyable, but the service was unfortunately a major letdown. We visited during Restaurant Week, a time when restaurants should strive to showcase their best, but our experience was far from ideal. Our appetizers were served promptly, but we were left without silverware or napkins. We had to hail a second waiter to bring us utensils. Additionally, my wife's entree arrived 10 minutes before mine, creating a disjointed dining experience. We also had to remind our waiter about a drink order we had previously placed. The desserts took an unusually long time to arrive. Even after finishing our desserts, we had to summon a third waiter to bring us our bill. This lack of attentive service significantly impacted our overall impression. While the food was tasty, the poor service was a major disappointment. The interior of the restaurant is also starting to show its age. We won't be returning to Rock Lobster.
Cute spot but some of the food was not great in fact we sent back a roll because it tasted weird. The service though was awful. Empty drinks, at least 3 wrong orders, one entree never even came out. And each of our entrees came out at different times. One person was done while the other was just getting their food. I absolutely will not ever go back there again.
Very poor service. I came here to celebrate a special occasion with my family for Valentine’s Day and the server didn’t pay any attention to us to even simply ask for what we wanted to drink. We were waiting around for 15 minutes waiting for the server to come take our order, however she found priority sitting around and reorganize the restaurant, while ignoring practically every table. I loved this place for so long but the service had been becoming terrible for the past few times that we have come.
